Yes, stop using your fone while it is fast charging. It's already being stressed during the charge, it doesn't need you adding to its grief...

1. in developer options keep background process limit to 4 (after every restart)
2. while fast charging please don't use phone / or use moderately
3. due to 4k and big screen, z5p gets hot relativity faster
5. uninstall bloatware and unnecessary apps which wakes up automatically and loads on processor
6. if the device is ROOTED. install purify to keep notification access/application hibernation in play.
7. if your z5p is in jacket type book cover, please remove it while charging and/or while charging and using.
8. in my experience skype / Viber ( voice and/or video ) calling consumes alot of battery and processing power, making my devices HOT. hence i prefer other voip apps.

Hey y'all, I've been seeing a strange thing on my SGS2 recently with Words With Friends: It totally kills the battery.
I just recently wiped my phone and put in VillainRom 1.1 with CF-Root kernel and charged up my phone. I then randomly checked words with friends and played a few words.
Results:

In 4 minutes and a half, it pulled 43% total battery use from a total uptime of just under 40 minutes.
Anyone else seen this happening with WwF ?
I've noticed Words with Friends taking up a lot of battery whenever I use it, so your not alone on this.
Yes i've noticed it too. it uses 100% cpu in one of the 2 cores while the game is open.

You're definitely not alone and I tried the application on both of my phones (Captivate and S II) and all I can tell you is that words with friends drains the battery like mad.
Furthermore, the app hasn't been optimized for dual core processor handsets yet (as it is the case with most apps). When developers start optimizing their apps for dual core processors we should definitely see an increase in battery life as optimized apps can utilize the two cores more efficiently.
Any fix for this yet? It's killing both mine and my wife's SgSII's, but my desire Z is fine.
Biggest priority for the wife is WwF so she's not happy about the battery usage! Lol
lol it's funny i played this with the gf yesterday and it killed my battery as well. i knew immediately it was the culprit
Is it normal for the back of the phone (around camera) and the screen to get warm when using the phone?
Nothing strange in battery stats, I guess.

see the same under load, so yup sounds normal.
I've not had an android phone that didn't get warm while I was using it and I'm on my 4th one now.

Mine was a bit warm as well last night but I was downloading over 4G, texting, browsing and navigation..
But after I stopped it cooled down in like a minute or so.
My Nexus One got RIDICULOUSLY hot during navigation ALONE. Then the touchscreen would go haywire.
Any phones will tend to get warm during use. And looking at your screenshot, that's a normal load. Nothing to worry about.
I did a Google search for the same problem and got to this thread. I just got my Nexus yesterday and the top right hand side of the phone (I'm assuming that's where the Wi-Fi antenna is) got quite hot about 20 minutes into activating my device.
My phone downloaded about 600mb worth data over that period (downloading apps from the Market) so I assume that was the issue and didn't know if the phone was supposed to get this hot. I've been using the wi-fi sparingly since (no heavy data download) and it is not that hot now. Just wanted to share.
Mine also gets warm there, I assume it has alot to do with the modem as even if my screen is off and the phone is just acting as a hotspot, that area gets fairly warm.
I remember my Nexus S get warm sometimes, but very rarely and there was always a good reason for that (heavy downloading, buggy ROM, buggy app in some loop).
Thanks for the replies!
Sorry if this was answered somewhere, but search didn't return any results.
I don't even know what to call it.. It's the second slider right under the brightness one. What the heck is it?

Never seen it before neither have I see an option to enable it anywhere. I'm using the leaked MI6 4.3 rom. Was it there by default?

There is a bug in google backup service
There is a bug in google backup service, google backup service acquires wfii connectivity lock and does not release it for hours which prevents device entering deep sleep and as a result drains battery. Fortunately you can disable backup in Settings->Accounts->Backup and Reset-> uncheck 'Backup my data'. This should resolve the issue ... after a full recharge monitor your battery stats - Android OS should NOT be on the top.

After some investigation I've came to a conclusion that the problem is in the wifi manager itself. In normal case this lock should be held no more that 1-2 seconds for the entire battery charge. I've developed an application that will give an automated solution for this problem.

I noticed that when I leave wifi on all the time, it drains battery horribly. left idling for 23 hours, it drained the battery 30 percent doing nothing. if i set wifi to only always on when charging, it'll drain maybe 10 percent or so.
I noticed it's just this tablet. my nexus 7s never had such wifi drain. I want to leave it on because i hate that upon wake, when it has to turn wifi back on, it's so laggy for a bit because everything is syncing. kinda annoying.
anyone else notice this?

Install the free Juice Defender, you cannot edit profiles in the free version, so just install it and turn it on, and forget about it and let it do it`s magic

well what I meant to say was it doesn't kill battery on my note 4 or my LG g2 like this. it's like, specifically this tablet.

Even though your wifi might be enabled all the time, maybe it`s not being used as much, maybe some apps or settings, stop wifi from sleeping or you could have a wifi noisy environment meaning the wifi transmitter has to use a stronger signal to break though the noise, meaning more power is used.
Lots of maybe, I dont really know, it`s just a guess.

Nothing out of the ordinary
I have unrooted bootloader locked Oneplus 3, updated to oos 4.0.1 . I have used for 2 full days and 3 charge cycles. have also done multiple cache clearing. have done a full wipe of data from default recovery too.
I had the same problem on the oos 4.0.0 update and had also done a full zip sideload for that version , but to no avail.
please have a look at the screen shots and judge for yourself. also a video of the gaming lag is linked below.(game - modern strike online).

I am not facing these issues but OP3 has a terrible WiFi that's for sure.
Same here, but I was able to solve. Try disable aggressive doze (I already use greenify) and startup app control in "apps". My battery is normal now, I'm on 4.0.1.

Okay. I'll disable agressive doze and app hibernation and try using greenify. Lets see. Thank u.
@tomriddle25 that's not terrible, show me as screenie when your battery hits 15% or below. My experience is that 100-85 drops really quickly and same for 50-0%
Been perfect battery life for me also, using aggressive doze and app hibernation.
An app must be causing your issue. I disabled and uninstalled greenify and my device had been flawless.
