Oneplus 3 Volume Increase Bug - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
Its my first post here. I've been facing a weird bug when I try to increase volume when earphones are plugged in. The volume wont increase and the phone would go blank for a moment to a point when it asks to enter your pin for for additional security. I can decrease the volume though.
When I plug off the earphones I can increase the volume without any issue.
I'm on latest 3.2.2 Oxygen OS. July 1, 2016 being the security patch date.
Is anyone else facing this issue?

this is the headphone high volume warning.
This means that you don't have the popup warning you that high volume can damage your ear.
You may have installed something that interfere with the pop up message.

You might have solved the issue by now. However, this is for all those who are still searching -
- Go to settings > apps
- Click the gear icon
- Click on "Special access" under Advanced (last option in the list)
- Click on "Draw over other apps"
- Click the overflow menu (3 dots)
- Click on "Show system apps"
- Go to "System UI"
- Enable the permission there
- You can also do the same for other system apps

Solution for volume up issue on oneplus 3

This is the solution for volume up issue for oneplus 3 devices and possibly for othe as well.
A user is not able to increase the volume beyond 60-70% while listening via earphones/headphones/aux etc. And when user tries to increase the volume, the phone resets the wallpaper and locks the device which cannot be unlocked via fingerprint and needs unlock pin to use the device.
Sorry to hear that you are facing this issue. There is this feature of drawing over apps (screen overlay) in your mobile device
Navigate to settings>apps
Click on the gear button at top right position then click "draw over other apps".
Then at the second top line you will see a dropdown (enabled is auto selected) click there to choose "apps with permission" from the dropdown.
Now you will see the list of apps with permission. Click on the menu button (3 dots at top right position), choose "show system".
Click on all the system applications one by one e.g. click on "system ui" application and then allow "permit drawing over other apps"
Repeat this for all the system apps and the application you were using when the glitch was faced.
Now your volume increase operation should be functioning normally.
More info:
The increase in volume displays a warning dialog that "increasing the volume might damage hearing ...."
This dialog popup is displayed over any application you are using (actually uses the function of drawing over other apps)
If the system app is not allowed for "drawing over other apps" then the warning dialog is not able to display itself, causing the volume increase operation to fail which results in malfunction.
Now while installing certain apps you might face the issue that "screen overlay is enabled" and will not allow you to install tgat app.
For this issue temporarily remove the permission of drawing over other apps for the apps and system apps that have the permission, following the same navigation path and then install the application.
Once you are done installing the application you can revert back your permission of "drawing over other apps" function for apps you want to use.
Thanks.

Increase volume steps on S9 w/ Android 9?

Is there any way to increase the number of volume steps for media on S9 (Exynos, no root etc) w/Android 9? On Android 8 Samsungs' SoundAssistant app did the job perfectly, but since upgrading to Android 9 the app doesn't seem to work any longer, that is, it allows me to increase the number of volume steps but the changes doesn't have any effect in the actual volume steps leaving me stuck with the coarse dedault scale which sucks big time.
In case someone else should end up wondering about the same thing, the reason for SoundAssistant not working didn't have anything to do with Android 9. I have the PowerAMP app installed, and in the settings of this app it has a feature that tries to let the app override the system volume slider and settings, so as soon as this was disabled the volume settings from Samsungs' SoundAssistant were working again, so might be there was an update to the PowerAMP app that suddenly didn't want to cooperate with the volume settings from the Samsung app. Anyway, problem solved.

High Volume warning prompt no longer shows up in Note 10 Plus

Hello!
I noticed that by checking "Disable Absolute Volume" in Developer settings, we no longer get the prompt about hearing at high volumes even after phone restart.
This was not the case when I was using my Note 9. Every time after phone reboots, it would send a prompt and we have to click 'ok' to get to higher volumes.
That is no longer true with Note 10 Plus.

Yay?
You don't have to do anything in developer settings. By default the volume warning is gone.
I thought it was strange that street the September patch I no longer had to do that. Here's to hoping this remains permanent!

Noticed this too and yes... YAY!!!!
I had this problem and was verry enoyed. The solution is in bluettoth setings advance media volume sync. This is the only option that i change for volume limit to get lost. I try anything but only that fix the issues. If you activate the volume option from devloper medya volume sync cant be change.

On the N975U1, the high volume warning was never present. Not on the firmware that it was on out of the box, not on the day one update, and not on the September patch update. No brightness warning either when maxing out the backlight.
I also noticed now, there are two distinct volume sliders(I have my volume controlling media by default) on top of one another.
Im glad they did away with that warning mess!

I disabled the Bluetooth volume sync because the volume steps are to huge, plus the sound is not the same "quality" wise, I don't know why.
I'll using the official Samsung's Sound Assistant to lower the steps.

Well that is something you code into your app if you want it to be active once your device finished booting.
If your device boots up, some apps and processes are started. If an app (e.g. a sms app) wants to function after booting (e.g. notify you if a new sms arrives) that app has to "listen" to your device which basiclly says "Okay, I finished booting." Every app listening to that will then start theirselves.

Don't know why, but this seems to say that the value vor "reboot completed" is null (no value found/set).
Since it's a toast you get (that's the name of the message appearing) I guess some app was coded to display it's boot_completed status.
However, I don't really think you should be worried about, but I also don't think you can disable toasts...
Thanks for the reply I found out the issue it was sam tweaks
Also is there a way to remove the loud volume warning I've only noticed it as an issue due to my old headphones I just started using that are not as sensitive so need the volume up ,
Originally you only see the warning the first time after a factory reset ,(it does not happen after every reboot anymore like it used to be in oreo )
you can dismiss it the notification and turn up the volume and you wont see it again for 10 or 11 days (I tested it it )of keeping the volume in the red section
Then suddenly without warning the music volume will drop and you think wtf grab the phone and unlock it and the loud volume warning pop up is there and you need to dismiss it to get the volume back. That's the only time it happens 10 or 11 days of keeping the volume high in the red area.
I've had this phone a year and never knew about this because I never needed to have the headphone volume in the red area or maxed out for more than 10 or 11 days.but because the headphones I'm using now are not loud, I needed the volume up and noticed this.ive odinid back to pie from android 10 but still it's the same.so you get 10 or 11 days of high volume then Samsung automatically turns yours music down if you keep it in the red area.im from uk running all stock no root standard official fw
Bump for some help with the loud volume warning forcing the music down?does android 10 fix this issue or does that auto force your music volume down after around 10 days like I've just noticed on pie 9 one ui

Phone keeps lowering volume every few mins help!

So out of no where my phone has just been lowering randomly every 5 to 10 mins and it's definitely not a faulty volume button it sets it to an exact level every single time. Also when connected to Bluetooth in my car instead of lowering volume it changes to only the left channel speakers working till I reset Bluetooth. So idk how to fix this
Some crazy app?

Obviously, these aren't settings you want to keep enabled, but they may tell you more about the problem.
Ultimately, you'll have to find the app and deal with it (if I'm right that it is an app).
