Greetings. I have bought a T-mobile M8. I unlocked it and also twrp custom recovery done. Bootloader 3.19. S-ON. My problem is I am trying to use it in Europe but it is not working.. only offline mode. I am a happy h/k Sprint M8 user since 2014 and I have bought this for present, but I can't make it working. Do these unlock codes ( I have found for 9$) would do the trick? If sunshine works, what should I do after that to make it working?
Thank you very much!

Hi. I have an HTC One M7 unlocked. I am currently using an AT&T sim in it. The problem is I can't seem to upgrade my phone to the new sense 6.0 since it requires the phone to be on CDMA network to update the software which is kind of lame since it's unlocked now. Is there a workaround for this or do I have to install a new rom? Thanks. Any help would be appreciated. :fingers-crossed:

Hello all, today I tried flashing a custom rom onto my Verizon HTC One M8 (ARHD 10.2, in case it's important). I successfully obtained root, used Sunshine method to get S-Off, got Super CID, TWRP recovery, and the latest firmware. When I tried to flash ARHD it said set_perm:some changes failed. Then when I tried to reboot, it went into bootloop. Tried restoring my backup before I flashed the rom, and it brought my stock rom back, but I cannot connect to mobile networks. What should I do? If any more info is required, please let me know and i'll be happy to supply it. Thank you for your time.
better choice
You'll probably want to re-post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one-m8
p.s. you are lucky that Sunshine works on the M8. New M7 owners can't do it.

I recently bought an HTC One (M9) 32Gb Factory Unlocked on eBay but when i put the phone in downlode mode i saw in description: htc himaulatt, i suppose is att carrier and it has bootloader locked, s-off and cid:11111111. Also the firmware is 3.35.617.12. This is the Developer Edition? Can i flash another Sense rom like ViperOne?
Any help please?
With supercid....you likely have an att variant phone that has been flashed with the latest OS....or I suppose it could have taken the latest OTA if the recovery and FW is stock...
Either way....you can flash viper....or any MM rom that supports the ATT network....
You are in pretty good shape for Modding....just remember to backup your device before doing anything to crazy...g

Hey, did you get any luck installing other roms? I have the same phone and it is "S-ON", I'd would give the rom that you have tried a try as well... let me know!
Hey guys,
I've got a m9 with the exact same condition, bootloader locked, s-off and cid:11111111, and firmware is 3.35.617.12. However, when i bought this off a seller online, he told me its brand new. (lied, by the looks of it)
I', not familiar with this whole flashing, ROM, SCID, s-off etc thing. But right now i've got a android security update, which werent allowed to proceed because it says i am not running official HTC software. Also my phone says its a test unit and is HTC's property (which i've read somewhere that says its due to the s-off thingy)
I only want my phone back to stock, and could update OTA.
Where do i start? i dont expect answers, but perhaps some guide as to which articles/threads to read? Its all quite confusing to me at the moment.
Cheers, CLee
Well, S-OFF basically means you can do what you want with your phone.
You can unlock your bootloader by typing "fastboot oem unlock" in your cmd.
Since your rom is x.x.617.x, you run the developer edition, that one is always himaulatt.
No lock, just dev edition.
I just got a HTC M9 and it also says himaulatt, but mine says S-ON, i can't find any information about this particular model.
i know this question has been asked alot on different forums but i am using htc one m8 distributed by 3 ireland. its on s-on and updated to marshmallow and i want to know best method to get s-of on latest hboot??? please suggest methods other then sunshine!!
There is no other method than sunshine.

Sunshine is the only current working method. That was already stated, and ignoring that statement and trying to offer up other (obsolete) methods is just wishful thinking.
Firewater stopped working once the devs (same devs as sunshine) stopped supporting its online component (needed for it to work) in Dev 2014.
What do you think you need s-off for? Its not needed for most mods, such as root, custom recovery, flashing custom ROMs, flashing kernels, and a great many things.
What s-off is needed for, is to flash modified hboots, manually flashing radios, changing CID/MID, and a few other things. But for most folks, s-on and unlocked bootloader is just fine.

if you want to flash a custom rom you are fine with s-on device ( as mentioned above )
and it's more protected than s-off device ( for beginner )
about the HTC 10 ported rom ( s-rom or ViperOneM8 ) are fine with s-on
GOOD LUCK

This doesn't work unless you have a CDMA version of the M8, which yours is not.
You can try to flash the radio firmware with the version of the M8 that supports the desire LTE band. This does require s-off. However, I've seen a lot of cases where it still won't work (LTE band not working on a particular carrier, even after flashing the radio that supports it). So money spent on sunshine s-off may be wasted.
You should have bought the M8 version with the proper LTE band support, preferably intended for your specific region/carrier, if that is availab.e.

I know exactly what you are talking about. And it won't work on your device. You can put the phone in diag mode, and change the NV values. But on the "GSM" version M8 (most any version except CDMA Verizon version, even Sprint has been reported to not work) the changes won't stick when you reboot.
What you can do with your version M8, is flash a different radio if you have s-off (may need to change CID/MID depending on what radio/firmware you flash). So that is why I mentioned that method.
Hi guys, i know it's a very old phone, but it's amazing how it's hardware has keept up to day. I bought mine on amazon as "used device", verizon unlocked and i live in venezuela, i need to do S-Off in order to use custom roms, open LTE Bands etc.
I am at stock android 6.0, can't use wifi thetering, can't achieve s-off (sunshine it's not an optionfor me), i did tried the NV editor to "turn on" LTE band 3 with no success. So i need your help to upgrade my old but great phone
I repeat: It's a verizon HTC one M8 (HTC dev method doesn't work either)
i had a headache trying to understand all the information here on xda but it's very disperse so i got confused because some methods works on any M8 but verizons ones
HELP ME PLEASEEEEE
Verizon version is the odd exception. The only way to get custom recovery on the Verizon version (and therefore flash custom ROMs) is with s-off. And the only working s-off method is sunshine. No way around that.
You can try to install the sunshine app, and see if it works to s-off the phone. If the phone was ever made s-off before under sunshine (such as by previous owner or seller), it should still work (sunshine license is associated with the device).
