Can you use maps offline? - Sony Smartwatch 3

Hello,
Looking to pick up a SW3. Currently an owner of the SW2.
I was curious as to whether the SW3 could operate with an offline map as I do not have data on my phone. I heard that the SW3 has a built in GPS so I am assuming it would work if there was a way to download map data to the device. Is capable of doing so atm? (Reason: for directions)

OSM maps, but I haven't used it.

You can also get google map data onto the watch manually, but you can't navigate with google maps without your phone.
There is at least one app that you can load a gpx track on to the watch to follow, no phone needed.

Save the downloded maps in google maps for using offline

Hello,
Is it possible to use GoogleMaps in offline mode?
Is there any where in TP2 that the downloaded map is saved and can be used in future without any internet access?
Thanks.
what i found out is that this cache file: \storage card\Application Data\GoogleMaps\cache\cache-GLM.dat can automatically change size, when it loads maps from gprs, this cache file will become bigger, butwhen you offline,it will slowly become smaller, this way you cannot save data for offline viewing.....
dont know how to fix this. the myth is that how this cache-GLM.dat can automatically drain away, what kind of technology is this???????
You are wrong. Google Maps caches data indefinitely. It updates as necessary.
As for the OP, technically this is not possible, but there is a way to defacto use it offline. Look at all the places you will be at all zoom levels you expect to be at. Then you can view that route without the need for an internet connection.
Just use a freeware. I recommand Terracrosser (.com) Works like a charm and you can get google or yahoo maps for offline use on your phone.
GPS is working, so you allways know where on the map you are going ^^

Google Maps - Mappack for download to speedup and offline nav?

Hi Folks!
Usually I am only on the ROM pages and begging for new updates but this time its all about Google Maps. The problem: Goggle Maps needs an internet connection to work and updates the position environment in realtime. That has 2 disadvantages: 1st its relatively slow due to low average mobile internet speed and 2nd there is an internet connection NEEDED.
Now I wanna ask you specialists if its possible to simple dl a complete google map (germany map would be enough for me right now) out there from the internet, copy it to the SD-Card in the Touch HD and navigate without an online connection and with high speed just via GPS! Nice idea, isnt it?
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Future
you might want to search for global navigator (was google navigator before). unfortunately it's commercial, but it works well and it's quite impressive. pdafun.net

You can use a freeware app (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581474) which downloads googe or yahoo maps and stores them on the SD card. The ony problem is with the difficulty in reading labels when zooming out.

Anything available like OpenAuto that is more a standalone w/o needing Android phone?

Does anyone know if there is a way (or something similar like OpenAuto) that doesn't require an Android phone to be attached to it? To run a mapping solution something more as a standalone and has an API that I can send start and stop locations? I can do it easily on Google Maps, but it's not turn-by-turn navigation? I just don't have an Android phone, but an iPhone, and looking to put it on a windows unit along with a raspberry pi.

ability to share data with Garmin

hi all,
a bunch of my friends have Garmin watches and trackers and are able to setup challenges that the all work towards but now that Samsung took it away from the Health app I have no way of partaking in that too. Is there any way to make it so that I can share my data with the Garmin Connect app? The watch isn't appearing on there either and it's a shame not to be able to partake in the challenges

You can use third party apps to sync data from Samsung health to Garmin connect. But it won't sync the steps though. It can sync the activities like running, walking, cycling etc. If I remember it correctly, it is called sync my tracks app.

Google Maps

I just adb installed the latest Google Maps for Android 6 (10.35.2) but when I start the Maps app I don't see the map but only the zoom buttons (as well as two other buttons). If I navigate to something on my phone the instructions do pop up on the watch but not the map.
Any known fixes?
UPDATE: When I disabled the WIFI on the watch and thereby forced it to use the phone data connection the map suddenly worked on the watch.
Solved!
