Hi all,
I have a standard HTC desire on which I lately have problems with the android market app.
Yesterday I could not download any updates from installed apps - I got the "download failed, try again" message.
I tried to empty the cache from the market app, tried to restart the phone and I also found a suggestion to empty the android_secure folder on the sd-card. That didn't work either.
Then someone suggested I'd reset my phone to factory settings, but unfortunately without succes. Since doing that (both before and after restoring my backup'ed apps and data) I get the same message again. I am not able to update any app I have on my phone at this stage - they are displayed in the market app but downloading fails.
(I was at first able to select apps I already had installed on my phone from the market-website via my laptop browser and have them delivered to my phone, but that stopped working also - it weren't the updates anyway.)
Now every time I start the market app it crashes the first time I start it and then after restarting it displays the message "Application not found" for any app I select (either to be updated or new apps).
Anyone who can help me on this one?
Apparently the problem solved itself. I had the feeling the phone performed much slower though and did another reset to factory settings and since that everything works fine again!
Problem solved...
Hi,
I got this problem with play store downloads on my micromax canvas A1.
I believe this problem is common to all canvas A1.
I have 2 micromax canvas A1 devices, one xiaomi and samsung , lg and so on..
Whenever I try to download anything above size ( ~ 4 mb ), I receive an error message saying " could not be downloaded error 489 ".
I tried on both canvas a1 devices , the result is same resulting in error 489.
First I thought this is my wifi problem. So, I tried in my other samsung, xiaomi and LG devices but theres no problem as such. The app installs just fine.
I already tried following steps but nothing helped.
1) Factory reset devices ( DIDN'T WORK.)
2) Installed new version of play store ( DIDN'T WORK)
3) Removed google a/c >> reboot >> clear play store data . (DIDN'T WORK)
4) Cleared play store data >> cleared google service framework data >> play store services data . ( DIDN'T WORK )
I TRIED EVERYTHING MENTIONED on google search but nothing worked.
Someone plz confirm this on their devices.
However, I haven't tried downloading an app on mobile network. I am going to do it now, will try and report back.
thanks.
ANYONE ?
plz confirm with your devices if this problem exists for you.
My downloads works fine with mobile data..
but with WIFI it doesn't work at all..
always 489 error.
canvas a 1 not allowed to download from play store and getting an error 489
i too have canvas a 1 but it also does not allow me to download from play store gives an error 489
Well, that confirms it .
Theres something wrong with canvas a1.
I wonder how is the things with other android one devices .
What are we supposed to do now ?
download error 489
I too bought the phone today, and have the same problem. tried all restart, factory reset, clear catch, clear data, force stop, play store, and restart. etc.. but not working.
it does not update existing apps also. wifi working fine for chrome, and mail. but chrome does not update, hangout does not update.
what can be done now, micromax service / complain phones not available for call .. please some one help

this isn't a new bug .. it has been faced by quite a few people before..
its not problem with your wifi or Android one ..
it's related to the version of Google play store..
Quick fix :
1.try to remove google account .
2. clear data both in play store and google services framework ..
[ no need to factory reset ]
3. add account and try from mobile data first.. then switch to WiFi..
THE ABOVE FIX IS NOT PROBABLY GOING TO FIX YOUR ISSUE ..
FOR NOW USE ALTERNATE MARKET STORES which are huge in number
If nothing works , report error through play store ..
keep calm and wait for updated version of gapps
I am also having the same problem. Any one contacted micromax customer care?

Same problem with Spice UNO Android one device
Hi All,
I have tried all the options but still android error 489 persists and I am not able to download apps from Google play store while I am connected to Wifi.
Options tried.
1. Backup & Reset
2. Remove cache and clear data for google apps
But still the error persists and this is very frustating.
Please help if any one has the solution to this.
even devices like galaxy s3 has faced these issues..
try to flash stock Rom .
Guys..This seems to be Play Store error. But try below steps..
**You must have memory card installed in your mobile.
1. Reboot to recovery.
2. Clear Data.
3. Clear Cache.
4. Clear Dalvik Cache. (Not Sure if "Clear Dalvik Cache" option is available in stock recovery)
Reboot and check now.
If still this problem persists,
1. Enable Debugger option in settings menu.
2. Change Runtime from Dalvik to ART.
3. After Reboot check if the same problem persists.

Same 489 error with Micromax Canvas A1
Hi all, I am from Kolkata.I am facing the same problem.I hope Google is reading this.No hope from Micromax.I read a Spice dream UNO review and there also same problem.I believe all these Android one companies sourced their hardware from the same cheap chinese company
I am running into android.process.media error even after factory reset and clear cache partition using recovery manager.
I followed all, possibly, the steps and procedures spread across the web like -
Clear the Data from Google Play Store, Google Service Framework, Download Manager, Media Storage.
Disable and Enable (after restart) Google Sync and Download Manager.
I also reset the phone multiple times and clear cache partition using recovery manager. But still I get the android.process.media error as soon as I try to download any app from the Google Play store.
Key observations -
1. In Media Storage app, Disable button is always grayed out even after reset and clear cache partition. Therefore I am not able to Enable/Disable the Media Storage app.
2. Once I disable the Download Manager, the error goes away. But starts appearing as soon as the Download Manager is enabled.
Phone Details -
Model - HTC One M8
Android Version - 6.0
Note: I am not using any SD card.
Please guys help me out to get rid of the problem :crying: :crying: :crying:
Thanks in advance
If your version has an RUU, that might solve your issue.
Do a fastboot getvar all, if you know how, and post the results (delete IMEI and serial number before posting)
My phone : SM-928P working ok, updated to 6.0.1 via OTA. But "activation not completed" notification can not complete, it's retry 5 times, and stuck. Please help me hơ to fix it. Thank so much!
Work-around
Hello! Go to applications and select top right corner to show system apps and search for system update. Then force stop. Its not a fully funcional solution but I won't bother you until next restart.
Other options:
Root it, and remove the message with idoneapp.
If you want to keep it unrooted:
Root it.
Install idoneapp
Remove the activation message.
install TWRP
Save a backup of the whole system with smart switch.
Unroot your phone installing Marshmallow stock rom.
Restore your last backup with smart switch.
Reboot the phone to enter in TWRP.
Reset your phone with TWRP: it will delete EVERYTHING except the internal content (pictures, videos, will be kept but all apps installation will disappear). The activation message will be showed just ONCE. Then it will disappear.
Install the apps one by one. You will have still all videos, pictures and documents. I don't know if you can restore again the last backup with smart switch... maybe it works, or maybe it reinstall the activation message, I didn't try this last thing.
Thank you so much, i will try! Maybe no root!
My phone is a Samsung A3 2017 - model SM-A320FL. Specs: Stock rom oreo, TWRP 3.3.0, magisk 19. The phone worked fine, but got slower and less free space over time. So today I decided to do a factory reset.
- I booted to TWRP
- Format Data
- Reboot to recovery
- Format Internal Storage (to make space)
- Installed RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa_v2 and no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0
- Installed Magisk 19
- Didn't install TWRP system app.
- Reboot to system
Phone boots and I get the initial setup welcome screen to select a wifi network. After that Google setup starts, presents eula, and is looking for updates, but after a few minutes I get the message that the Play services stopped (app stopped) and Google setup starts again. Endlessly. I don't know how to solve this. I did a new factory reset, tried a newer version of magisk (20.4), but no success. Every time the same error message pops up and I can't get pass this screen.
I don't get it, because nothing changed since the last time I was able to install TWRP and magisk. Same ROM, same software versions.
Anybody?
So let me update my own post. I managed to skip the initial setup, by removing my sim card and also not selecting a wifi network. Then you can continue and don't have to log into Google. After finishing the initial setup I still had issues with setting up Google play. Every time I started the setup, the app crashed. I download a recent version of the Play Services and installed the apk. But no luck. I also tried to copy it to the system apps folder in the hope it will be installed with a factory reset. But also no success. In the end I had to restore stock rom with odin, and then reinstall twrp and magisk. That was for me the only way to fix this issue. Hopefully this helps others with the same problem.
