I have found a way to use otg in s3 neo plus without the need of y cable or external power source. Otg device will get power from your s3! First plug in your otg cable (use normal otg cable not y cable) don't connect anything in the other side of otg cable for now. The go to terminal and execute this commant in super user mod.
echo "1" >> /sys/kernel/debug/regulator/8226_smbbp_otg/enable
you will hear a sound. Wait 2 second.now connect your usb device to otg cable. And you otg device will get power from phone. And when you are done using otg execute this code in super user mod
echo "0" >> /sys/kernel/debug/regulator/8226_smbbp_otg/enable
Don't forget to execute this code or your phone will not charge while connected to charger.
And i used otg using stock kernel.
If you face any problem or this doesn't work reply me i will try to help.
And if it works then reply and let others know.
Finally now I can use my OTG cable! ^_^

not working on stock rom
tried on s3 neo dual sim
yep it did worked, i just tested in my sgs neo + GT-I9301I running PHN latest Stock Firmware.
Thanks a lot for all the work and effort coz it's an awesome things that we'll be able to do that without external power.
the only thing is that, it's only ES FILE EXPLORER that can manage to find and give me access to my flash drive ... but the stock file manager, mixplorer, root explorer, don't detect the device at all !!!! so i was wondering if there is something special i should do.
otherwise for other non storage devices (mouse, keyboard, game-pad) get detected automatically

When you connect the flash drive you will get prompt for allowing es file explorer to use usb device. Don't click ok,click cancel. And if you have ticked use by default then goto es file manager app info and click clear default. Your usb device will be mounted by system (same as external sdcard ) you can check it in settings - general -storage. And one more thing if you flash drive is formatted in ntfs it will can only mounted by es file manager. System can only mount file system like vfat exfat fat32 etc. As far as i know.
Not working on my device at all. No sound nothing. And my phone is charging even without disabling. What's wrong

maybe I'm wrong but I think it's ur stock rom
to my knowledge there is no 4.4.4 ROM for the GT-I9301I, up to date stock ROM so far is only the 4.4.2 ! so I'm a bit curious
I tested with usb flash drive, external hard drive, zaza remote, mouse, keyboard and joystick and it is working good.

Hey. I am about to buy the G TAB 10.1 . As far as I know there is an adapter that convert the charge port into a USB port. My question is, there is any USB hub for it , so I can connect more than one device to the Tab?
From what I've read it would have to be a powered hub I think.

have you been using a powered usb hub?
I am wondering how much the tab can handle, have a feeling that a powered hub would be wise?
Sent from my GT-P7500 using Tapatalk
Yes, use a powered USB hub. That gives you the ability to use external HDDs, which require more power than the Tab can provide on its own. Also, if you have a USB mouse (or bluetooth mouse) you can connect that up too. Works like a standard mouse.
As an FYI: if your drive is NTSF you will need additional support to get your drive to be readable by the Tab.

Yeah, so you have "2.6.36.4 - OC-VFPv3-d16_FP 1.4GHZ - Galaxy Tab 10.1" then, I reckon, since that's the date on the thread. That's what I'm using.
So you need to go to http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/ and cursor down to this:
HC 3.2:
lib-2636.4_ux_hc32.tar.gz (Kernel Modules)
Download: lib-2636.4_ux_hc32.tar.gz
Download that lib-2636.4_ux_hc32.tar.gz file. This contains the ntfs.ko module. Extract the ntfs.ko file out of it.
Oh, yea... copy the ntfs.ko file to "data/local/modules/". You may need to create this directory. I've never needed to worry about changing permissions...
(FYI - I use File Manager HD which gives root access and read/write access. It's free unlike Root Explorer.)
Then if you go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448933.
I posted (#2) about some support apps you will need (Terminal Emulator and a NTFS mounting app). Open the attached image file - this shows the commands you need to enter in Terminal Emulator.
Run the mounting app and you should be golden.
If you reboot you need to follow the process again from Terminal Emulator.

Hi every one, I am trying to connect one USB Wifi adapter to my Xperia S since the internal WiFi of the phone is not working. I bught a nano usb wifi adaptor whcih has a support of Android USB.
Now when i try to connect the device using an OTG cable, i get the Power consumption error. I tried to change the value of bConfigurationValue but could not do so. "File Cannot be saved" is what i get when i try saving the file with value "1". Below is the link for solution of power consumption error.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586313
Can anyone please help me with this thing. If there is any app or any other method to avoid this error and get the device to working. I know that Powered USB hub can do the work but i need better solution.
Thanks.

Who replaced the hardware micro usb? (You yourself or from someone in local market)
The microw usb port seems to have been broken & not yet fixed properly.
Take it to an authorized Samsung Service Center & get it replaced / repaired again,
Are you able to boot into recovery?

Check your usb connection options. How is the phone set to connect (as camera / tethering / media / any other)
Otherwise try flashing a new Rom and see if it is a rom related issue.

When you plugged the phone into the computer, open device manager in windows, do you see anything? any error or unknown hardware?
Is it a touchwiz rom? when you dial *#7284*, what do you see? Is it select PDA under USB section? Then go to Qualcomm settings and make sure MTP is selected and not other option (you can dial *#0808* to access this settings)

yes I was able to flash 4.4.2 stock rom using mobile odin pro. but still it did not worked.
today i got the complete usb flex cable( working on other note 2 ) replaced in my device.. that also not helped.
yes in *#7284#, it is PDA under USB and its MTP under AP in*#0808#
and in device manager an unknown device occurs under other devices. under device status it shows "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".
one more thing i noticed on connecting usb , out of 10 times, only 1 time device shows connected through MTP but still it does not open in computer, other 9 times it only charges.
what should i do now?

Is it the proper module that is designed for the note 2 GT-N7100?
It could be that the part is for s3 or similar model and fits right into the note 2 but due to feature differences will not work as the note 2 probably has a usb 3.0 port (I cannot say this for sure though) and other low end galaxy models don't have it. So the circuitery maybe different here which is probably incompatible.
Also it could be that the connectors are connected in a reverse order to the board which you could try reversing again (if they are not built in a one way lock fashion) so that it starts working as desired.

My display broke, i cannot put my pin to open the device. I researched that i could control my phone using a otg cable and a mouse.
my question is that will an otg with a mouse work here in this screen. This is not the lockscreen where we put a pattern or a pin, this is the screen which comes before the phone completely turns on.
The screen reads " To start android, enter your PIN"
i know my pin, it would be so helpful to me if somebody tries to restart their phone and use a usb otg cable to connect a mouse and tell me if it works.
i have a normal otg cable and a usb type c to micro usb adapter and this is not working. i am asuming the adapter maybe the problem.
Not really on topic, but anyways: if adapter works for file transfer with normal micro USB cable, then it's not the culprit here. The problem is the OTG cable. For some reason OP3 doesn't work with many OTG cables; you'll need another one. Preferably some that is confirmed to work.
Sent from my OnePlus 3 using Tapatalk
problem solved
bought another usb C otg cable and used a normal usb mouse with it, i could open the pin.
So if someones display breaks or touch stops working, u can use a usb C otg and a mouse to open up ur phones pin code and unlock it to copy your pics/videos.

Ehh , this is OOS .
I checked it with LOS 15.1 and otg works without any extra settings .
Do you have unlock bootloader . You can install twrp and otg should work in twrp .
Btw if you have turn on usb debugging you can copy your data from phone to pc by ADB shell commands .

were you able to find a work around?
My first Poco F3 is completely unlocked and running a custom rom, still able to connect to PC even now.
I have a second Poco F3 that I was able to originally connect to my PC to debloat, hadn't needed to connect it to a PC till now. Today was the day I could unlock it but when I connect it via USB cable, original or otherwise, no usb options appear on phone and nothing shows on PC. I can use the same cable on my first Poco F3 and everything works fine. I've tried multiple cables, reinstalling drivers, restarting phone and PC, trying a different PC, enabling debugging tools, etc.
Nothing shows in "My Computer"
Nothing shows in Device Manager
No usb options on phone (default is set to File Transfer)
Nothing shows in CMD with "adb devices"
Charging still works
Is there anything I can do to at the very least unlock the bootloader? Or is this not fixable?
long shot... check the usb C port for dirt/dust/fluff blocking connection...
Most probably u debloated an app responsable for media transfer. If u can, revert what u debloated.

Did a factory reset thinking that may have been the case, still no good.
Tried cleaning out the port and still no good either
I still think it's Windows. Please can you try putting Ubuntu (or another Linux distro) on a USB, booting from that, installing platform tools (ADB/fastboot etc) and then running ADB devices. Windows is very finiky sometimes.
Edit: when you plug in your phone to the PC do you get a notification saying charging? Or is there no notification? Also does it start charging the phone?
There is a delay before it begins charging and the charging animation plays but yes it does. But then there is no usb notification. Will try ubuntu and report back
Booting into Ubuntu, before installing platform tools the first phone that I knew worked showed up and showed up in adb devices when platform tools was used. The second still didn't show up, exactly the same as on windows
Try downloading the installed stock miui rom from the update menu in the miui update menu and re-install it on the phone
Unfortunately reinstalling latest package didn't help
Can't think of anything else to suggest. Sorry
If the usb connection continues to be nonexistent, is there any way to at least unlock the bootloader without using the Xiaomi Unlock tool on the PC?
Are you sure the USB cable you're using support transfert file?

Nope
Hmmmmm.....strange! I'm running out of ideas....try different USB ports on PC. Maybe it's a faulty USB-C port on phone after all.
do you have a type c usb-otg?
If yes then see if it is detected by the phone

Yes. Used 4 different cables, 1 of which is the cable that comes with the phone. None work on this phone but do on the first phone.

Tried different ports across 2 PCs. I'm starting to think it is a faulty port, though it worked fine a week ago.

I honestly don't know if any of my cables are usb-otg, how would I check?
Try to use this version of Mi FLash Tool (only for drivers) : https://xiaomiflashtool.com/download/xiaomi-flash-tool-20210226
Extract and launch the executable then drivers install
Something like this. You can plug in any usb stick and see if it is detected. Another way to check whether the port on the phone is working for data as well

I don't have anything like this but that reminded me of the usb-c to headphone adapter and that also doesn't work. Sound just plays out of the speakers.
Trying with Android Auto in the car, the car doesn't register a device connecting at all either.
Either the data transfer portion is somehow disabled on the device itself (which I would love to know how to enable it again if that's the case) or it's a damaged usb port. Just strange that it worked a week ago.
Something I forgot to mention, when I went to unlock the bootloader yesterday the phone did not show up anywhere except for in the ADBFastbootTools to debloat the software as a OnePlus device but then never showed up again.
