Bootloop problems (VS985) - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So this has been happening ever since the middle of my rom flashing days with this phone with snapchat. When it occurred it only rebooted once or 3 times and I could use the phone again.
However recently I started playing Pokémon GO with the phone and the bootloops have been getting worse. It would reboot repeatedly until I take out the battery for more than a minute and put it in as it reboots another 2 or 3 times.
Now for the past few days the bootloops wouldn't stop until I wipe the phone and reflash the rom. Can someone please tell me how to fix this because this is happening almost constantly now and to the point where this phone is completely unreliable.
*I am running Resurrection Remix 5.7.0 (Oadam11's build from July 5) and the last thing I remember flashing is a CTT mod that was suggested from a recent post from lgg3 subreddit

I just bought a used VS985 on ebay, it's been good for about a week and now it occasionally is unusable. This morning I could use my phone without the charger fine but 2 hours ago I tried using the camera and it shutoff and went into a bootloop and never got past the first of logo, it works fine while charging, but if you unhook it it will immediately go into a boot loop or will boot loop after 5 seconds. I know it's a software issue, because it will not ever turn off of in recovery or boot loader menu. I am typing this on it right now, I will unplug it and edit this to see if it is still doing this. It only happens like every other day.

And it turned off and started bootlooping so I'm having to charge it again. I will get to the bottom of this. Its not the battery being loose, I've tried raising it up bushing it back and pushing it forward with paper and it still bootloops, when I get another battery in I'm taking this battery apart and trying a fix by soldering a connection that is glued on originally

For anyone who crosses this thread with the same problem. It's most likely a battery problem. I tried plugging it in during bootup and it runs perfectly fine. Once again this website is rendered useless as I get all my advice from the lgg3 subreddit

I've found many people with the same problem as us and was fixed with a replacement battery. I'm pretty sure its a battery issue for me as it happens more and more frequently as the percentage gets lower. And also if I plug it in during a bootup there would be no bootloop (You should try this as well). I have a feeling its because the battery is so shot it would turn off and wouldn't be able to turn on again because of not enough power outage or something like that. So I am gonna get a replacement battery (most likely anker from amazon) and will get back to you to confirm. But I'm pretty positive this is the solution.

I've researched this a lot and most people it has fixed their problem, I have a replacement battery coming in and when it does come in I'm gonna try to solder a point on this battery and see if it fixes it. Some people have had to buy replacement batterys every 2 weeks. What I don't understand is why dosnt it bootloop or reboot of you out it in recovery or download mode?

[Q] Cannot charging or connect to PC

Hi All,
Today I found my Note 2 cannot charging and cannot connect to PC, I have tried another cable or another charger.
Is there anyone that ever had this happen?
Thanks
Oh boy, doesn't sound good.

After flashing a custom ROM I now have the same issue. Did you get this fixed or does anyone have any ideas. I lent my spare phone to a friend and need my phone over the next few days. Any information on trouble shooting would be great.

Just did battery pull with the charger plugged in while my phone was booting and my phone is now changing. I have not tried USB. I will wait for phone to fully charge.
Give this a go. I hope it works for you.

I just take my Note to Samsung Service Center, they said the connector need to be replace, so i have to left my note there for 2 days.

1st Gen Moto 360 charging oddly

Last night, my watch wouldn't stop turning the screen on, and I tried turning on theater mode but it would immediately disable and turn the screen back on. It kept turning on the screen until I rebooted it. It was draining the battery ridiculously fast, even after rebooting it, and I put it on the dock for a while, came back, and it was actually LOWER than before. Rebooted again, came back, and it's charging now, SLOW AS HELL. Been a few hours and it's only gotten 35% or so. What's the issue? It's never done this before.
Checked it half an hour ago, it was at 90%. Checked again just now, still at 90%....

It took it all night to get to 100%. This is bull****.
Seriously?! Still no response?
It's been freezing up since yesterday, too. I keep getting the "Android Wear has stopped" errors.

ATT Note 4 Not turning on temporary fix!

Temporary fix for SM-N910A Devices:
Step 1: Remove the battery from your phone.
Step 2: Place the phone in the freezer
Step 3: Wait 5 minutes.
Step 4: pull the phone out of the freezer, put the battery in, and attempt to turn it on.
Step 5: ???
Step 6: Profit!
So this worked for me, and I cannot find it anywhere online for a permanent fix, so does anyone have any ideas so I dont have to have a freezer when ever my phone turns off?

Have you tried a different battery? Mine started having problems - the battery. The first incident was when zooming in and out of Google Maps. The phone suddenly rebooted At first I thought it was demanding too much CPU power so it crashed. It happened again the next day when I launched Google Maps. It also suddenly rebooted after accessing the camera. It finally won't boot all the way. It would bootloop on the Galaxy Note 4 Powered by Android logo and wouldn't go past that unless I have it plugged in. While plugged in, I did exactly the same things that made my Note 4 reboot. It stayed on! I unplugged the charger then did the same things again and it rebooted. This tells me it's the battery. (Why does it reboot on battery but it stayed on while plugged in?) I ordered a new Anker battery and while waiting for the shipment to arrive, I did some digging and found that it is the battery. I finally got my Anker battery and it's worked since. No rebooting issues.
Just get a new battery. Got mine fixed that way.
Even if you've recently bought your device "New", it would be NOS - New Old Stock, so the batteries are actually old.
Ive had three different batteries, but I will buy a new battery and try that!
after recieving the battery, I have determined that it still does not help. When I plug it into my pc, however, I get QHSUSB_BULK. Does anybody know how to help me out?
Freezer is THE solution
I was just about to creat a topic about the freezer thing.
It helped me a lot to recover my Note4 who was dead. eMMC is dead. But what do you want? it's samsung...
TIP : put the phone just 3 or 5 min in freezer. Don't let it very cool. this may creat water drops in its surface...

Reboot and bug issues are generally solved with the WakeLock app.
Install it from appstore, click on Partial lock. it's done.
Will consume around 10% more battery, but... its samsung!

WakeLock didn't work for me at all. I even had it set to the partial lock. I resorted to buying a new battery. I'm happy again.
im trying the freezer method at this moment
the new battery method is useless for me

Another battery issue. Or mobo?

Hello,
I noticed following problem a few days ago: the battery is more and less 15-30% charged (more and less, i don't look at this when it happens), the phone restarts out of the blue, and then shows 2-3% battery. Sometimes I cannot unlock screen and SIM card, because it restarts again. After a while resting in the pocket it can go to ca. 10%. Most of the times it happend exactly when i touched the "shutter release" button in camera app (coincidence?), sometimes when tried to open other app. Should I blame the battery? Or should I send it to warranty service center for troubleshooting? (maybe it's mobo to be blamed). Did any of you get this issue? I'm on stock Marshmallow.
Well, i actually 5 months ago i purchased a second battery for my G4 and after 1 month of use it started discharging pretty quickly and eventually made the phone restart when i tried to launch games and in my case it was a battery problem because when i switched to the genuine one this didnt happen.
So in my opinion if you are rooted do a battery calibration (there are plenty of apps that do this).
Try another battery and see if the problem persists.
Install AccuBattery and check battery health after 3-4 full charges. But it can be also a system bug and maybe a factory reset can help solve the problem.

Yes most of the time yes to be honest but it helped me to make the phone show the real battery percentage. Because what was happening was that it would show 100% but it still kept pushing more than 1 amps for about half an hour after that. Its just that non oem batteries are really bad quality and usually faulty in my experience
Edit: Powerbear batteries were the only one worth the money imho.

Battery calibrator apps don't calibrate your battery...they just dump the battery stats which is what you do when you shutdown your phone or restart

I'm leaning towards motherboard because it restarts and boots backup....
Is it just looping?
Sometimes there is second (third) restart while I try to unlock screen and SIM card and battery status is 2-3%.
Boots backup? Please, explain.
I would just try a new battery, but it's not available in local stores, online listings are counterfeit lottery. Don't know which is worse - this, or switching to backup crap-phone for 2-3 weeks...

I don't really understand what you are saying
Why are you unlocking the screen and SIM CARD?
Does it go to 2 3 percent the die?
Are you under warranty?
What country are you in?
@deltadiesel thanks for the explanation its always good to learn something new.
About the looping part, it happens on my phone too with the bad battery. It looks like the battery is not empty when it automatically shuts down but the phone thinks it is. I proved this by plugging my phone in and restarted it instantly and battery went up to 16%. If you let it restart it can even loop until you plug in the charger. To me it looks like the battery reports being empty while it really isnt. But the mobo i think is fine because when on the powerbear battery this doesnt happen, but i really dont know. Everything on this phone fails, i even managed to get a failing proximity sensor... ??
If you are under warranty and have a backup phone go and have the mobo and the battery replaced

You know.what both of you can try this with what you think is a dead battery
Put in a ziplock sealed, squeeze out air. IM WARNING YOU RIGHT NOW DONT USE A PLASTIC BAG.....moisture will get into it...and the battery will be garbage
Put in freezer for 12 hours
If you have a 9v battery....the rectangle on with the two funny looking connections I can tell you another trick and will be a lot faster
This will tell you if the battery is really dead or not
If you have warranty send it out....why not? No one here is going to tell you your problem without having the device in hand
Yeaah okay i will give that a try. I really hope it dies though as it cant even hold 2 hours of sot anymore ?? just kidding....i will try it when i have time and maybe it will give a little bit more insight into this problem

Do you have a battery like this and a charging cable you don't use anymore and electrical tape?
It will be faster. If not throw it in freezer over night as I described above
If your battery spins on a flat surface(spin around and around) do not use this method. The cells have exploded or are leaking
Don't put the ice cold battery in your phone right away. Wipe off any frost first as well
You will soon find out if your battery needs replacement after this but it won't ruin it either

charging led blinking two times before dash charging

i have just boyght my op5t and when i charge it 5he led notification sholud go from red to blue (dash charging ) but instead it goes from red to blue then disconnected for a second then light blue again and charges normally and some times it blinks for a third time before charging normally
I noticed the exact same thing. It could be that it is there since the last software update. I first thought my phone has a broken usb-c connector but let's wait and see if anything changes with the next update.
Anyone else experienced this?
