Hi there
I did a lot of research, but I'm still stuck and would love some help.
Obviously there are 3 models of the Oneplus 3
- Europe / Asia
- China
- North America
They all have model numbers, for example, the users in America got the A3000 model, the users in Europe the A3003 model. So far it's easy.
My problem:
I'm from Switzerland and we can't buy the Oneplus 3 from official channels. So I have to import it.
But right now, I'm in Thailand for a while and could buy one here.
The best option would obviously be the European model because it supports all 3 LTE bands from my carrier. The China version would at least support 2 out of 3 and the model for North America only 1 out of 3.
So I would like to avoid the model for North America.
And here starts my confusion. The sellers in Thailand sell the A3000 model but they don't know (and probably don't care) if it's the version for North America or the China version.
I could take a picture of the sticker of the back of the box. It would be great if someone with the North America model could compare the sticker to their sticker (do you also have most of it written in Chinese? Or does it looke completely differen or even the same?).
One seller told me that his model had HydrogenOS on it and he flashed OxygenOS, so that would be the China model I guess, but he was out of stock. The other seller (the one I could take the picture of) said that he bought it already with OxygenOS on it, and that is what makes me wonder if it could be the North America model.
Thank you so much for every hint!
Chinese and North American models are both A3000. I guess that's why in the official page of OP they name them by country/region.

Sorry if my english is not perfect.

Ok thanks , so I would like to know if the A3000 i posted in the picture is the China model or the one for North America.
And why the seller tells me that there already is OxygenOS on it (if it really is the chinese model).

I would say that is the Chinese version because of all the Chinese text and it also says A3000 TD-LTE. Only the Chinese version has TD LTE bands as seen at https://oneplus.net/uk/3/specs.
The Chinese version comes by default installed with Hydrogen OS instead of Oxygen OS but many Chinese exporters open the box and flash Oxygen OS so that is what he is telling you.

that's a great hint with TD LTE, thanks!
The european version say "ONEPLUS A3003" in the "about" section. I'll descript the label on my box tonight if you need to.
Thank you Le_Zouave but I think it's not neccessary. It says A3000 even in the about section. So it's either the China or North America model
You have the Chinese model... Great model
It was Chinese Model. Mine also exactly the same with yours.
All of the text on my NA model is in english and lists 2 IMEIs. Don't know why ur photo only list 1.
that IMEI thing is strange. I searched for more pictures here in Thailand (and will add some to this answer) but I couldn't find anywhere a second IMEI. There is an MEID printed on the back, but that is normally used in North America with CDMA phones.
I read on the oneplus forum that with the Oneplus 2 the chinese model has printed 2 IMEI but they were both the same number.
Has that something to do with dual active sims or standby sims?
It gets complicated
Hello,
Can one quickly tell just by looking at the box label of the oneplus3 if the phone is a US or China variant? I know both have A3000 model number so how can one tell the difference without having to open the box?
Thanks!

Hi there,
I am currently thinking about getting the Mi6. After some research I read more than once in some forums across the web, that there might be a Global VERSION coming, naturally supporting more LTE bands, as they have done it before to other xiaomi phones.
Geekbuying already had a Global VERSION listed, others saying Xiaomi is trying to hit ground in Russia and Greece in the future.
Since I am pretty new to the ChinaPhone Area I would like to know if something like this sounds possible to you? In that case I would wait a few more weeks if something like a Global VERSION would pop up.
Thanks in advance :good:

Hello, I've bought a MI6 that already came with global version. If you buy it with other, you can download it here:
http://en.miui.com/download-326.html
It's a great phone with lower price, it worth it

Hi,
I did not mean the Global ROM. I meant a Global VERSION of the phone. The Global ROM does not unlock any LTE Bands.
It just felt like there are rumors about a different version of the phone coming in the future. That's why I asked if anybody knew something.

MI6 global version:
http://en.miui.com/thread-731235-1-1.html

Thank you, but it seems like they are defining Global Version also just as the Mi6 running the Global Rom on it. Aliexpress is not mentioning any different specs than the "standard" Mi6. The review is also just talking about the Global Rom on the "standard" Mi6.
Maybe I was just wishing that they might release another version of the mi6 running more or other LTE bands than the one which is out already. Too bad.
Global ROM - with more languages than English and Chinese - is available.
Usually it takes a little more time to come out (2 weeks to 1 month) but it is available for all Xiaomi devices.
It comes with Google Services and improvements for usability outside of mainland China, namely GPS.
Global Versions is on the hardware side.
It usually enables more LTE bands (e.g. Band 20 @ 800MHz on the Redmi 4X), brings an EU charger and is CE / FCC certified.
It has also the Global ROM pre-installed.
So we are waiting for a Mi6 Global Version ... even though it might not come. Just looked at the mi sites in Taiwan, Russia and Poland: mi6 is available but same specs as everywhere - no B20 band mentioned.
I really do not know if Xiaomi is going to release a global version of Mi6.
But OP5 has a bunch of 4g bands.
What do u think about OP5?
I read a review in miui forum. The guy has International version, which had english specifications on the box. I boughy Intetnational version from Gearbest. The send me Chinese box with global shop rom. So that means there is a international version but you have to clarify with seller. Or consider other phone.

Had the OP5 for a few days and send it back. It did not feel fully developed yet. The viewable expanding/contracting of pixels was annoying, Camera worse than advertised, Bluetooth did not work out of the box and the customer service with OP is a big ****up since I have been returning it. Its not worth the price it has. Most of it could be resolved by software, so it might become a better phone in the future. But the customer service is so annoying, that I wont be turning back to OP. Better no customer service at all and lots of money less

All the sellers [ gearbest, tradingshenzhen, etc. ] do not know about an international version supporting B20 yet. So sadly, there is nothing to clarify.

My point is these sellers unbox and flash shop ROM on Chinese Version then sells them as International Version to earn more money. You have to "clarify" this before you buy to make sure you get what you want and pay for.
In case of band 20, the only way to know is to try contact to people who has originally International version to confirm. I don't think these kind of sellers will tell you the truth.

Nope. There is a global version from Xiaomi but the only difference is the box is in english and EU charger included. Same bands.

Gearbest international versions are fakes. It´s the chinese phone with the global rom installed by the shop.
Original xiaomi phones are called "Global version". And for the second time, you can buy it here: https://es.aliexpress.com/store/pro...a8a4ce16758051b7b-1502703643253-09604-UfYbAe2

Why do you use language like this? It's unnecessary. It's condescending on a thread that has what - 3 users?! Really.
Having said that - yes, the Global version IS different from Chinese with Global ROM.
I got the blue ceramic Chinese with Global ROM because I couldn't seem to find it anywhere as INTERNATIONAL.
Works well for me: Specs vis-a-vis bands etc

I want to buy a Galaxy S9. Since there are some complains about the exynos version (battery life, performance, especially 3d performance in games) i want to get the Snapdragon version. Custom Roms etc. doens't matter for me. Is it possible to just order the Galaxy S9 g9600 Hong Kong Version and use it normaly here in germany? Does the region even matter?
>>UPDATE<<
tl;dr: Yes you can!
I'm also interested in getting an answer from somebody who has experienced with this.
After Googling around, I think you will have no problem using the phone. The only problem is that the ROM is full of bloat targeted to the Asian audience. What people do normally is they flash the Brazilian version, which uses the same hardware, and should be a very clean rom. I would feel more confident if somebody came and confirmed who I read around.
I bought the S9 online from Hong Kong (SM-G9600/DS) to use in Australia and it works well with full 4g (LTE) bands. I would assume that it would also work fine with European bands as well. I have not had any issues with the phone at all.
The only potential issue is that you wont be able to use VoLTE outside of Hong Kong. Personally this doesn't bother me.
I'd recommend importing the SM-G9600 form overseas.

I can confirm after buying a SM-G9600 online from Hong Kong, it has NO Asian Bloatware and overall a fairly clean rom. Most pre-installed apps are actually useful (such as Facebook or Twitter). The only difference that I have noticed over 4 weeks of having this phone is that in the shopping option of bixby vison (where you point the camera at an object and it comes up with a product you can buy) it shows Hong Kong results. And also the advertising in samsung pay is in Chinese.
None of this a problem that affects overall usability and is very minor. I would definitely recommend buying the SM-G9600 from Hong Kong.
Would it make sense to flash the Brazil ZTO ROM or is the Hong Kong ROM just fine?
Hows the battery life on the HK version? HK has the snapdragon variant i assume it has good battery?
Could Hk version S9/S9+ be root now? Does anyone know how to root Hk version S9/S9+?
Good day. I am thinking in getting a Snapdragon version (American or HK), and would love to know if it works in Europe too.
It seems that the battery life of the phone with Exynos is far worse
If this is the case and the phone is locked to Asia region, is there any way to unlock the phone without an Asia SIM card? Or do I have to send it back?
EDIT: The phone got shipped today and should arrive the end of this week or next week. I will make an update if the Galaxy S9 Dual Sim from Hong Kong is region locked or not
Update: The Galaxy S9 arrived today and everything works perfectly. I had no region sticker on the box and my german simcard works just fine. The only bloatware, that is preinstalled are some microsoft apps (word, excel, powerpoint, onedrive). Overall i am very happy that everything is working flawlessly.

Does the Hong Kong version support VoLTE or wifi calling? I bought a G9600/DS with the Latin America CSC (has OWO in the version number as opposed to TGY in the HK version) and it does not support either feature. Can you let us know please. I'm thinking of flashing with the TGY CSC if it supports VoLTE and Wifi calling.

voLTE will only work in Hong Kong. If you root and use a custom ROM the CSC Code can be modified. This is only possible if your device's bootloader is unlocked. As the CSC Code is Region or Carrier Specific you'll need to match your new code to the location and/or carrier.

Got mine from an ebay seller. Just look for a sm-g9600 or sm-g9650 if you want the plus.
I have been searching the interwebs for hours but I simply couldn't find any information or a shop that sells the
Redmi Note 5 Global Version with B20 in Rose Gold.
I want to buy it to replace my wife's phone. the old phones battery's life span degraded and it's simply time to replace it.
all shops offer either the black or gold version but I have seen pictures of rose gold. which is my wife's preferred color.
could it be that rose gold is only reserved for the Chinese version? or even the global 6GB version which is still unreleased?

it just confirms what I have come across in my recherche. as soon as it is rose gold it turns out to be Chinese version only.
I pulled the trigger on gearbests offer today for the global version in gold. my wife said now gold is fine with her too but would have preferred rose gold.
xiaomi really kinda sucks when it comes to naming convention of their phones (can be confusing. same model different names depending where in the world it's marketed) and when it comes to color choices. they started to ship one color before the blue and restricted (it seems) rose gold (every females favorite) to China only? in short its a mess...

xiaomi really kinda sucks when it comes to naming convention of their phones (can be confusing. same model different names depending where in the world it's marketed) and when it comes to color choices. they started to ship one color before the blue and restricted (it seems) rose gold (every females favorite) to China only? in short its a mess...
