Hey guys, wondering if this great site can help me out. Just got a phone off of eBay (White HTC Evo 4G) However when I plug the phone into charger(s) it doesn't light up, display any LEDs whatsoever. furthermore if I try to power on the device it does the usual display of the HTC EVO 4G Logo on the whitebackground but then the screen quickly shuts off.
I then try the power+vol up key to access recovery menu. It will finally display the menu BUT THEN quickly the screen shuts off.
I then try hard reset, holding power button + vol down button. Same thing, menu pops up, as soon as it does the screen shuts off.
Connecting via USB cable of course windows does not detect it, it wont even boot up for that matter period via this method. lol. Any suggestions?
Send it back .... fast.
my phone is a Samsung Galaxy Nexus Maguro and it wouldn't power up.
Here's what happened:
1. I think it started when i was transferring files from my phone to pc, then a notification came up in the PC (Windows XP) over voltage detected.
2. Charged it through the outlet
3. Next morning, battery drained but i was still able to start it up and get to the home screen for a couple of seconds.
4. then i accidentally entered fastboot, (volume + power buttons down), didn't even know what it was till now, i just selected the "START" then pressed the power button.
Info that might help:
1. charger is working, tried on other phone
2. when i connect it to the PC i get a notification "OMAP 4400" detected then tries to search for a driver
3. When it is connected it shows the lightning bolt, then the battery animation for a couple of seconds then its gone.
4. Removed the battery (i read that, that's how you get out of the fastboot mode)
Update:
Still able to get to the home screen a while ago. I still do not know if its the USB hardware or just the battery. will try another battery when my friend gets back.
Solved the problem:
checked the cable, and its more of a connection problem. used another USB-microUSB cable (not provided w/ the phone).
Hope it helps other people having the same problem.
I have a Sprint Galaxy S3 that will not turn on it is "Not rooted". I have tried to get into recovery mode with no success. If I hold down the up volume + home + power you can hear it disconnect from the computer but does not boot. If I take the battery out while plugged into the wall or computer the charging light will light up when I put the battery back in it will stay lite for around 1-2 minutes and then go off. Any suggestions or tricks to unbrick this phone.

Hello,
I am having an issue with my S 3. It is not booting up as it should. The model is SGH-1747M.
I have tried the following and have had the following results:
1) The phone is non-responsive when attempting to power it on with the power button.
2) If I remove the battery, with the phone not plugged in, and then put the battery back in, the phone begins to power on by itself. It vibrates once and then loads to the Samsung screen and then goes off.
3) If I plug the phone in without the battery, the phone vibrates once and the red charging light comes on but then goes off after a couple seconds.
4) If I plug the phone in without the battery, and then insert the battery as soon as the red light comes on, the charging screen comes on but then the phone goes off after a couple seconds.
5) If I put the battery in with the phone unplugged and hold Volume Down, Power and the Home Button, the phone boots to the screen where you can push up on volume to flash new firmware. If I stay on this screen without pressing anything, the phone turns off after a couple seconds. If I push up on the power button, it goes to the screen with the green android man but then turns off after a couple seconds.
6) If I put the battery in with the phone unplugged and hole Volume Up, Power and Home and then release them on the Samsung screen, blue writing pops up in the top left corner (I couldn’t read quick enough what it says) while still on the Samsung screen and then it loads to a screen saying Samsung Galaxy S III and then the phone turns off.
These problems started when I attempted to connect my phone to my laptop to transfer songs over to it. I connected the phone and the battery was charging, but it wasn’t showing up as connected on my laptop. So, I turned the phone off to restart it but when I went to turn it back on, these issues started.
The phone was rooted and has been for the last 7 months without any changes to the firmware or updates to the firmware in that time period and has not encountered any problems prior. I’m not sure what firmware the phone was on prior to this.
If anyone could offer any assistance with this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Hi,
I'm no expert, but it looks like a faulty/stuck power button. It's normal for the phone not to completely boot up when it is powered off and then plugged in to USB. But it is not normal for the phone to reboot itself when in recovery or in Android. That's why I think the power switch might be the cause.
Basically, the device wont turn on no matter what I do, no matter what key combinations I use. If I plug it into a power outlet, the LG logo comes up, then the tablet shuts down, then the LG logo comes up, rinse and repeat.
If I plug it into a PC, I get the sound of it connecting and disconnecting over and over, but nothing comes up on the display.
I've never had a bricked device that I couldn't unbrick by going into adb or download-mode but I can't even get into download mode. I'm stuck and ran out of ideas.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
EDIT: I got it to show the charging logo. Basically just left it plugged in doing the logo-loop for about 15 minutes until the battery indicator showed up. Very strange. Hopefully once it's charged everything will be fine.
Have you pressed the volume up key + pressed the power button multiple times over and over, I can get mine into download mode only if I use that method.
When I corrupted my tablet, first it would hang on the LG logo screen and never boot into anything, once, then I got the issue of it boot looping only into TWRP only even after installing ROM's, then flashed TWRP in TWRP, and wala, fastboot boot loop only, for the life of me I could not get it to go into download mode, I had almost given up, but alas the last attempt to randomly smash buttons unveiled that holding volume up + clicking power over and over rather quickly rendered it to download mode...
If your getting the LG logo screen its likely that you can recover it.
As for the connecting/disconnecting, its likely that the device your connecting it to cant provide the power being pulled by the device, I have to use a powered USB hub for my Alienware 17 (R2) early 2015 laptop, as it cant handle the power draw of almost any devices, I have had issues even with self powered USB portable hard drives, so I really can feel your pain.
