I attempted a root on Samsung Note 2 Sprint version (in white). Followed all steps, however phone got stuck in a reboot loop right after I put the option 2 (root only) Odin step in. Sprint ver LPH889 (I believe that is what Odin is calling it, option 72). Toolkit used was ADB 4.1.0.
Original symptoms were that the Android updater was looping trying to load everything; being new I made it worse and tried recoveries and reloads which also failed. Now it boots, goes to splash, circling blue oval image and...it stays there.
Good news: I have access to download mode and recovery reset mode (including sideloading).
Bad news: every thread I've followed has given me an issue.
I have recovery access but I need some idea of where to go from here and searches have shown near but not exact symptoms. I have unplugged it from the pc, removed the battery, done a factory reset, attempted to reflash via Odin (root) attempted to reflash stock via Odin and so far I am still stuck in a reboot loop. Windows detects the phone but shows a problem in device manager because possibly it won't stop rebooting. Any help you can provide is appreciated and if at all possible I need to recover some form of working phone here, and soon. My girl needs it for work and Sprint's network in my area barely works from day to day (which they admit but don't credit my account for). This phone has problems sending/receiving calls, they claim it's fine, and I was forced to try a root to get some form of working device. That failed too.
I'm a newb at this...it's been years since I flashed a phone (Razor v3), so...any help would be appreciated, otherwise I have to crawl to sprint/samsung and get it replaced, which I don't want to do. Thanks.

I thought it would to but I did not want to dig through 70+ pages of the thread when searching failed...unless I really needed to. Most of it is old and doesn't apply.
I was directed by the referenced Youtube vid. I used the options referenced for the phone in this thread with that toolkit. I backed up existing files (not as one unit, but internal files and I think OS), went for the option 2, followed the instructions and things went great through odin...until android went to update and started looping with the 'updating files' percentages. At that point I tried to restore to basic and started clearing caches and such and that is how I got to where I am.
When that failed I started looking at the leaked stock flash and that failed on shoot.ini which that guy never addressed because he thought his international version was all versions (that's why I choose 'doesitwork?' as screen name ). So i'm down to sideloading or something. I really need guidance, and I emailed the toolkit author but I'm still waiting on a reply.
Any thoughts?

When used the toolkit a year ago, I found that I had to turned off all firewalls and antivirus apps for it to work properly. Once I did that it worked fine....give it a shot...can't hurt......might even be able to repair what you've done so far.....Good Luck!!!
I'll give this my best shot...download a rooted rom from the development section and place it on your SD card.
Download toolkit from here (I take no credit for this) http://d-h.st/iu0
Put phone in download mode.
Open ODIN and uncheck "auto reboot". Then click "PDA" and add the .tar file (recovery).
Plug phone into PC (make sure to have samsung drivers installed).
Once ODIN sees the phone you can click "start".
When the recovery flash is complete, pull your battery to ensure power down.
Boot into recovery : volume up, home, power all at the same time.
Flash rooted rom.
Toolkit is an extra and unnecessary step.

Grab the one click flavor of choice. Use the one with 1090526 in the name as that's the full version.
Open in windows, put phone in download mode and flash. Easy Peasy.
Let me know if you have any issues with this.
Sorry for the late reply, I had some issues with the "catchpa".
The one click fix worked like a charm, thank you! I will soon be making a contrib to the site. It's a shame I couldn't root as easily  .
I know the level of work that goes into this stuff and the desire to keep on top of new gear while maintaining support for the old and I appreciate the community coming to my aid, so again, thank you!

It is usually a pretty common courtesy to hit the "thanks button" when someone helps you out.
I am not at all trying to be mean, just letting you know.

Hello everyone!
I tried to look for a solution to my problem but unfortunately could not find one.
When I was in China in a moment of madness I went to OPPO store and purchased N1 Mini - smashed screen on my old S3 so thought this was a great idea at the time. I read the reviews, I knew it was very easy to install CM so I thought - great, I'm gonna get one of these...
So got home, downloaded the ROM... and got installation failed every time. Tried different builds, same again. I started reading and realized this phone is a bit different...
Is there antyhing I can do? I'm even happy to stay on ColorOS, but I need to install Gapps (flashing them in recovery gives ... instalation failed )

Anyway, I've found this which can help you flash using your PC to unbrick.
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1hsjQUES
This will help you flash back to official 4.4
The following is a description of the events that lead to the brick. I am writing here in utter desperation and have tried almost everything available on the forums and around the web. Requesting assistance from any person in India or anywhere who knows the device well and can help me.
1) I had been using HTC One X for around two years. It went dead slow and I went looking out for options. Found cleaners and other software but nothing helped much.
2) I decided to flash a ROM like I have done on my Micromax A116(Indian mobile brand, available on XDA forums as well).
3) After a bit of research I found that I have to unlock the bootloader and install recovery(installing the recovery isnt new to me)
4) I then unlocked the bootloader and tried installing the ROM.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2753450
5) The installation was a failure due to some partition error.
6) I looked around XDA and found a solution.
7) This is where I goofed up.
I was unable to install the ROM and so I wiped everything using philz touch recovery. It even wiped the backup(I forgot I do not have the option of memory card on this Indian model of HTC One X).
Now after the restart, nothing comes up. I tried flashing other recovery like TWRP 2.8 which is flashing fine however, am unable to do anything except go in bootloader(fastboot, Hboot etc) or inside the recovery.
I read about RUUs, and how to make my phone detectable in PC and use ADB to copy ROM and re-flash it but nothing works at the moment. After a week of trying myself, I am here if anyone can help me out. Would deeply appreciate if anyone can find some time and check out on my issue.
I have HTC One X: CID HTC__038
Hboot: 1.73+

Dear onex master,
I had given my phone to service center and got the phone today after they failed to bring it back and said nothing can be done now.
And that is when I came back here to find your post and thought of giving it a try before I go ahead and buy a new phone. Your guidance is so perfect and accurate that my issue is finally resolved now. I got my phone back. Many thanks to you. Much much appreciated. May God bless you dear..

Hello everyone
So, this is my problem here, I got my G4 last week, rooted it to debloat, followed the instructions I found here on XDA, and it was working as a charm.
The problem came when I wanted to change the (micro) SD card to another phone, I took the back cover off, took out the SD card, and a warning message about the SD card might be damaged came on screen.
So I turned off the G4, after I was ready to put back the SD, tried to power on the phone again and the error message appeared.
"Security Error, Auth Fail #9" and then it just won't boot.
Hope anyone can help me.
I was on stock Telcel Firmware, had rebooted the phone several times before with no issues so far.
Never mind, I just reflashed stock firmware found
here: http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/
then followed this steps
Tutorial: http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/install.php
So, after a clean flash, it booted again, as Iv'e had it for just one week, nothing was lost.
Hope this helps anyone else facing this strange problem.
By the way, if anyone know something about the possible cause for this malfunction, I woud really appreciate you sharing info.
Cheers!
i Have had the same problem i was woundering if you could please walk me through the steps on how you fixed yours.
I recently just bought a new LG G Stylo with MetroPCS. this is my first time being with android so i took it upon my self to root the phone and see what all i could do with it. Everything worked fine for a couple of days then i tried to reset my phone and when it tried to come back on the lg logo cane up and it said Authentication fail #9. I try to factory reset the phone but it goes back to the same screen. I can not put the phone in download mode and my computer does not detect that there is a phone there. If there is anyone who can help me please it will be greatly appreciated.

How can be LG G4 H815P be rooted, have read many tutorials, but no one is for the variant "P" (Telcel).
Thanks!!!
Hello!
Well, I found out the source of the problem on "error 9".
As it happened again a couple days after posting the thread.
In my case, when I uninstalled LG apps, such as music and video apks, "error 9" would come up on next boot.
Follow the tutorials, the most important thing is to have the right version of SW to your phone.
Also, I had to download LG bridge, then a pop-up came telling that drivers for the phone should be updated, I just accepted the update and then my phone was detected on my PC .
If you encounter a problem, please provide me a little more info (with caps if possible).
Hope to help you.

@joyousfrank. I've just been de-bloating my phone and managed to get a Security Error problem and was hoping to use this method to get the thing live again. Trouble is that Google is blocking the LGFlashtool download link. Any chance you have another link or could maybe upload a copy of the tool somewhere? Cheers

I used this thread as a guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/root-tmo-vzw-intl-variants-soon-root-lg-t3164765
(Follow the steps for International H815 10c Version)
This is the rooted image I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/...on-root-lg-t3164765/post62251256#post62251256
After you download it just unzip it, and rename the .img file to "system.rooted.H81510c-EU"
The file must be system.rooted.H81510c-EU.img
Hope to help.

Hello!
The first thing to do, is to find the right SW foy your phone model (and carrier) as I read some problems when flashing other different than stock.
Look up here http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/download.php there's where I found the SW for Telcel. Just input your IMEI on that page and it will give you a download link.
Then, follow this steps http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/install.php
It's important to tell you that my phone wasn't detected by my PC until I downloaded LG Bridge as it comes with the latest drivers, so I recommend you to do this if you face the "not-detecting phone PC".
And for last, I suppose that there should be thread with a list of safe to uninstall apps (this is my first LG so not totally sure).
As there's enough room for apps on the phone, I just ended freezing annoying apps with Link2SD to avoid having the "Authentcation Error #9" problem.
Hope to help you, cheers!

Long story short - Bought an LG D851 off Swappe. It came with CM13. I've been sticking nightlies on it. Currently on 2/14. I tried to put 2/18 and found that TWRP wasn't working - it hangs on TWRP Splace. Then I noticed SuperSU wasn't on the phone. So I installed it. Can't update the binaries. Looks like I don't have root.
Used LG Flash tool and flashed D85120E_00.kdz. Part way through, I get an error that the software cannot communicate with the server and it asks if I want to abort. I let it continue.
The phone reboots, I get the "Android is updating 1/196", etc. After which, it reboots, I get the boot jingle, and then it holds on the T-Mobile screen. I've tried flashing the KDZ a few times with the same result.
So now, I humbly, yet again, ask for help.
The endgoal here, is to have a working ROM with BT and WiFi working. I really don't care what it is at this point. Marshmallow is nice. Lollipop is okay. Whatever. I just need a working phone.
Thanks in advance, as always.

Ouch!!! Read my CM13 post...you don't need SuperSU anymore (CM13 has root built in)--I had the same problem a while back--fixed it by flashing the old factory version on the phone & then used Purple Drake to root it & then installed CM13...Was a HARD lesson for me.
Upshot---No SuperSU needed--No BusyBox needed on CM13. If you are used to the old way of doing things--you'll get B0rked big time.
Luck to you!!!!

I guess trying to push the SuperSU binaries is what effed up TWRP?
I'll check out your CM13 post. But the issue I have is that I can't flash a factory version with LG Flash Utility. I mean, it does, but now it just sits on the Tmobile splash.
Hopefully your post will show me something I missing.

I tried that DD command to no avail last night. I tried everything I could find before reaching out to everyone for help.

Yes--the SuperSU binaries B0rked my install real good ( as I understand it--2 different types of SU installed B0rks everything )..... And with CM13, you have to allow ADB & apps to have root. I've been modding phones for years now & CM13 threw me under the bus until I learned what to do... I use to ALWAYS root, install BusyBox & SuperSU---not with CM13
Ya--that won't help you I'd look up fastboot commands & try to flash it that way--sounds like you are stuck in a startup bootloop. I did see some info online about starting the G3 in fastboot--I had a very hard time getting my G3 fixed. Do you have a Linux computer to use? It's easier to work with some of the diag stuff with Linux.

I can always fire up an Ubuntu flash drive if necessary. I'll get working on Fastboot.
Thanks again!
@debianmain1 Hmmm, Fastboot doesn't seem to be functional. I've got download mode. Can I push something to it that way?
I managed to get somewhere yesterday. I tried flashing D85120e_00.kdz and it failed again. I got the "cannot communicate with server" error, then it rebooted and tried running initial setup and failed.
So I tried flashing D85110C_00.kdz. Much to my surprise, it worked! So I ran through initial setup and got the phone working to make sure all was well. I rebooted and got the Red 2. So now here I am. Guides show that I should be able to put it in download mode and reload factory firmware again. But all I get is the "Download Mode" graphic. It never switches over to the updating mode with the circular arrows. I fear the worst at this point, but I really don't know enough about the LGs to diagnose my own doom just yet.
Someone on Reddit pointed me in the direction of Board Diag. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to work on D851. Running out of options. Looks like it'll end up being an expensive learning experience.
