How to make a custom rom for Zenfone 5! - Zenfone 5 General

Hello guys. I just want to know if how to build a custom rom like CM, Resurrection and other roms .. exclusively for Zenfone 5 (or possible portable to others). I want to make a build which is based on my preferences, likes, and include my favorite features somehow.. Do you have any link, tutorials, or threads about this? Thank you!

Ned some help how to build MM from sources and adding features

Hi guys, i'm a total noob on how to build/compile a rom from sources, but i like to learn and i would like to add some features from another rom/kernel (developper send me those sources for 5.1.1) to MM 6.0
I've read many posts, tutorial on "how to", but i really dont understand how to add the features i want from his rom/kernel. (Is it possible to " convert a stock 5.1.1 kernel for stock 6.0 ? )
His work his based on stock lollipop 5.1.1, but i would like to have the same features on CM13 (i tried compiling a build with success few days ago), or on custom build like " Pure Nexus".
Any basic help, hints, tutos would be very helpful
Many thanks

Difference between ROMs - any with OTA updates?

Hey guys,
new OP3 owner here - coming from a Galaxy S2 running 6.0.1 and I have to say I just love the idea of 'unofficial' developers and they're doing SUCH a great job!
I just unpacked my device after the OP3T reveal and finding the upgrade isn't worth the money for me and now I have a few questions:
on my S2 I had not exactly the biggest variety of ROMs to choose from so I haven't had this problem before: I have no idea where the basic differences are between CM14.1, Freedom OS 1.10.0, AICP 7.1 and CypherOS 7.1
I know switching ROMs for a few days would be the safest way to say which suits me the best, but I'd like to have some info beforehand - the threads for those ROMs do list the features, but I honestly can't really see the difference most of the time.
So, if anyone here with quite some experience could say 1 "unique selling point"/special feature or what the ROM is known for in one sentence each, I'd be overly grateful
And another question: is there any ROM supportin OTA updates so one has not to flash the whole ROM again to get the next version of said ROM?
Thanks in advance for any advice incoming
Gwiel
CM14.1 - cyanogenmod itself
Freedom OS - based on stock oxygenos with additional mods
AICP 7.1 - based on CM14.1 with more features added
CypherOS 7.1 - based on AOSP with extra features
If you want to know the special features of those roms, go to their threads.
And I don't think incremental OTAs are supported.

Freedom OS and OOS is also based on AOSP, just to clarify

I would say AICP if you want just some extra features and OTA, in terms of updating I think AICP is the best. Although I never flashed CM so i don't know about OTA on CM.
Hydrogen, Oxygen, FreeDom. Official or CB, CE, best. You only dislike them if you are a CM fun.

Wich rom do you want me to build for G8?

Hi.....Im new to this device...and I want to build roms based on @surdu_petru (great) work. I want to try to make roms like Omnirom, SlimRom and DirtyUnicorns but I dont have a lot of HDD space, so...I have to choose 2 roms.
Please vote for the rom you want to see in G8.
Im not a dev...I build roms for n7100 in the past...so I wil TRY to build for this device.
beanstalk - i got this one
hi
really thanks for your efforts.
but I think that if someone tries on developing other Huawei's ROM for this device such as mate series with android 7 and emui5 it would be amazing...
we all will be grateful if you try on this.

Custom Rom wishes?

Hello everybody, I will start building Custom Roms in the next few days.
Which one I'm building I don't know yet, I'll try a few to build.
So be curious and wait for new info
Greetings kevte89
Hi @kevte89. I Would love PixelExperience ported to Mi 8 Pro.
Ideally, I would love to have customisations made to Phhusson's GSI ROM to get the non-working bits for equuleus working. (Fingerprint sensor, VoLTE most importantly). Then other GSI ROM developers would be able to integrate those patches to their ROM to instantly give us a good choice of ROMs.
Maybe that could give you some ideas, but a custom MIUI ROM is probably not what most are looking for.... I'm looking for more stock based ROMs to get away from MIUI.
By the way... did you get started yet and do you need any help testing? You can reach out to me in a PM... I have professional software testing experience that may be of benefit.

Make own miui rom?

I have a question about this idea.
Xiaomi.eu team dropped support for the Redmi Note 8 Pro due to issues with bricking that can’t be easily recovered from.
But, we now have cfw antibrick system, does anyone know or by any chance have a way to make miui roma based on chinese weekly beta.
On GitHub we have Multilang project to compile inside rom.
Maybe some one know ingbrzy from xiaomi forum, asking him for tree and other advanced stuff which he adds to roms for other types of phones.
I know we have custom roms, but i like stock miui rom.
Any help is welcome, if necessary and someone knows the necessary things for making roma, and does not want to say publicly, he can call me at pm, to make it for myself even if I make a hard brick of my cell phone.
cheers.
i have same question , but the real question is , is it worth it? i mean we all left miui for same reason basic things are bad no nav bar ram management doesn't exist on miui stock compared to samsung m31 great stock one ui , and after all custom roms try to give you the pixel feeling which is imo better than any isheep phone out there , i hope if someone is able to do something like that , unofficial miui rom wouldn't be as reliable as official miui 12 and will take effort to port and get it customized for us.

If you see forum with relased miui 12 for not so small list of phones, and very big list of "ROMs features (Whats not in Global)", i think yes. It worth it.
It was the same rom for our model with all those extras, so if it continued, we would have a weekly update, but there were a lot of hard bricks so they gave up on further release.
That's why I asked, now we have a cfw antibrick system so we're safe.
