Hello,
I want to install a new rom on my HD but failed to do so.
I got the DHD for free and at that time there was already a custom rom (android 2.2 goapk) on it. So I assume it is rooted, however checking root status with terminal emulator it says otherwise. Also all my applications that require root dont work because of permission error.
Questions:
shouldnt my HD already be rooted since there is a custom rom running on it?
Assuming its not, since all my applications that need root access wont work...
If I try to root it with visionary+ it doesnt even ask for superuser permission.
It just runs through, no error occuring, but when I check with terminal emulator "su" it says permission denied.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
Thanks in advance.
have you considered downgrading and re-rooting ?
downgrading went fine in a coulpe of mins.
could smoothly root etc. afterwards.
new rom running already.
Thanks for the advice!!! I was just not really sure what my problem was
Regards
My phone has bieng acting up really weird lately, an update came out for it but ever since that update(my phone was rooted when this update took place), my apps that require root no longer work properly and superuser keeps denying every app without prompt, some apps like terminal emulator and root checker say it is not rooted even though hboot is unlocked and security is S-OFF. I can't flash roms like CWM to fix super user, and I've tried everything with super user but nothing works. I've tried everything that I've read on the forums. Please Help!!!
Sounds like you took an OTA update. Terrible idea. RUU back to stock and reroot.
So does that mean my hboot is all borked up? And if so how can I fix it?
Hello everyone, first time poster. In need of dire help.
So I got an unlocked phone.
Tried to use the method on the galaxynote2 website ( you can find it if you google "galaxynote2root easiest method" )
However Now SuperSU is telling me "there is no SU binary installed, and SUPERSU cannot install it. There is a problem!"
I tried updating SuperSU and downloading a putting in manually a newer version.
I have no idea what's going on in my phone since root checker is telling me I don't have root.
What do I do?
Hell, the only reason I rooted it is to unroot it because the previous root made my phone act strange.
I really would like to give this phone in for warranty.

Also it's not like I used any ol' root. This individual has a huge youtube channel dedicated to the note.
Also I forgot to mention that when I finished rooting, knox did say it did allow some sort of permissions with super su or something along those lines.
Hey guys,
I have just come back to stock firmware after some problems with CM11M7 ... I am looking to get back to CM11M8 with a fresh wipe of the system and modem/baseband etc.
Anywhoo all that went well and my phone is working perfectly - but I am unable to root it. I tried Framaroot (Gandalf exploit) and it tells me that my phone is rooted (Yay) and asks me to reboot (Cool).
However on reboot I don't see SU installed - and when I try to run Root Checker it tells me that I am not rooted (Boo)...
I tried another exploit from the FAQ thread (Fiddy) and that too returned a success value but still no root...
I am guessing that the exploits have been closed in my current firmware version ... Which is as follows:
Android Version 4.1.2
Baseband APQ8064/MDM9x15M
Kernel Version 3.4.0
Build No JZO54K
Software Version E97510f-IND-XX
Any leads/help will be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm retarded!
Alright ...
I am really really retarded. I've been used to CM for so long that LG has separated the App Drawer into Apps (installed by LG) and Downloads (installed by User) thats where SU was... It needed to update before it could allow rooting previliges... I updated it, ran root checker and it worked like a charm.
Moral of the story: look before your post a question...
Mods - you can close this thread ... or delete it to save me some embarassment. Thanks.

Use kingroot. It will take numerous tries though.
