So I read online that Verizon doesn't unlock their 4G LTE phones, but when I inserted my friend's AT&T sim into my Verizon HTC 10. I got an error saying "Not a Verizon SIM". Does that mean the phone is locked?
I called Verizon for a SIM unlock and they reiterate what they claim online.

If you found it is able to make a phone call with some other carrier SIM - it is not locked..
P.S. Again as you have mentioned there's some notification saying that not Verizon SIM is inserted - it is just a notification, moreover there's way to get rid of it..
Sent from quite brutal hTc 10 ..

I just bought a brand new Samsung Galaxy S3 with a contract from ATT&T, the 747 model Without attempting to unlock it, I stuck a prepaid redpocket SIM card and the phone works. Does this mean my phone is unlocked for all carriers? I don't have any other SIM cards to check. I searched on here to get confirmation on how to check if phone is locked, the *#SIMLOCK# does not do anything on my phone.
Anybody else bought the phone from Att&T and it happened to be unlocked?

Red Pocket is an AT&T MVNO, so it is still locked.
I will try to keep this as short and to the point as I can..
Have a i747. Going out of USA for a vacation.. Need to check if my phone is unlocked.. Have a very old Tmobile sim.. I put it in (did not ask me for any unlock code) and it says emergency call only and shows signal with message "sim not provisioned mm#2".. and when I check phone status, it says "Out of Service".. I tried the sim on an unlocked iPhone and that also says no service with NO signal.. All my friends out here are either on Verizon, sprint or ATT... Any help is very much appreciated..:crying:

Maybe you need a newer T-Mobile micro sim?
Talked to ATT and they gave me the unlock code..
Sweet rep just gave it to me.. Be reasonable with them and they are good to give u the code. It has never asked me for the code, but at anytime it does, I now have the code..Yay..!!
Hello everyone,
I just received an unlock code from AT&T and it stats to power off the Samsung S3, insert a non AT&T sim card which I did (used a t-mobile) and input the pass code when prompt. I was never prompt to put in the unlock passcode.
I did noticed I had two signal arrows and a voicemail from t-mobile and the APN was already filled out with t-Mobiles network info.
I am not trying to use t-mobile, just want to unlock it so I can sell it.
Is my phone already unlocked?
Sounds like it
yup
yup...your unlocked now.
Is there a way to find out for sure?
Yes If it is not giving an invalid sim error then it is already unlocked

I tried but was prompt by t-mobile to go through some setup steps so I just ended the call.
Did you buy the phone new?
I bought the phone off someone but he never used it so its new per the guy I bought it from.
Got a used N7.
Works fine with the AT&T SIM from my phone.
Does not work at all with any T-Mobile SIM that I tried (even went to the store to where they gave me a new SIM to try).
With T-Mobile, I always get the error message:
"Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"
... and on the lock screen it says NO SIM CARD
Can this be fixed?
T-Mobile customer support gave me no issues activating the tablet data plan on the device (i.e. IMEI is good?)
PS: Also - when I check the IMEI on swappa it shows as activation ready/clear for Verizon. But the N7 should be unlocked? And it DOES work with AT&T ....

Check imei status for tmo. Here http://www.t-mobile.com/verifyIMEI.aspx
Only time I've seen that error is when device has been blocked on two's network. Even if the website shows clear go to a Tmo store and ask them to run imei and let you know.

IMEI is supposedly not blocked by T-Mobile.
Since it is a "non T-Mobile" device they blame the device and refuse any help.
The Asus Nexus 7 obviously is sold unlocked by Google, so that leaves me in a pretty ****ty situation.

All verzion phones are unlocked from factory only phones that ask for a unlock code aee pixels
I think that has changed to prevent theft. They are locked but Verizon will unlock them after a short period upon request.
