I recently purchased a Sony Xperia Z5 Premium and sadly I think it's blocked. I'm very new to android phones and so I'm unaware of how to root so is there any other way to change the IMEI. Many Thanks

The safest way is to buy a new handset that isn't blocked. Changing IMEI is illegal in most countries.

I know but is there a way because I'm not in the position to get another phone right now
You should not buy stolen phone. Simple as that. Hopefully it will teach you a lesson.

My friend's xperia play got blak isted, is there any way to open it to any sim?
If you mean what I think you mean then the only way it to change the IMEI number on the phone... Which is extremely illegal.

If it's a UK handset it will only work abroad if blacklisted, never work again in the UK..

it's israel version (actually, same as uk version), so it'll work abroad?
any lead in a way to change IMEI?
Changing the IMEI is ILLEGAL I wouldn't go there if I were you. It's risky, near impossible on most devices anyway. So you're best off selling it for parts or something.
Out of curiosity, how do you get an XPlay blacklisted?

if it's declared lost or stolen to the network provider, they then bar and blacklist the sim and IMEI of the handset to prevent unauthorized use
Here in the U.S AT&T only blocks the sim, they don't bother doing anything to the imei

Same here in Canada
Look up on google to change it, its illegal so just dont tell anyone. You will need another phone on your carrier, an old deactivated one will do. The there is a swap process, good luck
it's my friend's phone.
he lost it and after a month find it, he got back to give the xperia back and get refund, they refused.
there's a law here in israel - you can cancel any deal within 2 weeks.
they also told him to get it fix in a private store.
any way, he gave it to me, so i broke it apart and will sell it on ebay for parts only with banned IMEI.
no use for this phone.
they - refer to orange israel.
HI guys,
I got an Xperia Arc S that was sim locked, so I contacted orange support and they gave me the code for unlocking, but when I entered the code it said "Could not unlock network", then I checked and the phone was hard locked..
I didn't enter any codes before orange gave me this one, and I bought it new, still its hard locked..
Is there any way that I can somehow undo the hard lock, so I can enter the unlock code??
Also does unlocking bootloader removes sim lock or hard lock??
Thx in advance
P.S.
It's 12W19 so the SETool doesn't work
unlocking bootloader DOESN'T removes sim lock or hard lock.

OK, but can hard lock somehow be removed or something so I can enter the code?
Bump.
Have the same problem with a BRAND NEW Sony Ericsson MK16a Xperia Pro from Fido in Canada.
I had earlier attempted a testpoint and it failed (only then did I find out about the post-12W14 ones not working with testpoint). Mine is 12W21.
I bought an unlock code, but it kept failing. I checked the unlock attempts counter in the hidden menu, and it showed 10 attempts, and that number decreased to 7 (I tried 3 times).
Brought the phone to the shop where I bought the code. They claim my phone is hardlocked!
Tried buying the code from another provider. Code is exactly the same as the one that didn't work.
Any idea what to do?

Was it supposed to be unlocked in the first place? I'd just take it back to the place where I bought it.

What do you mean by "supposed to be unlocked"? It was locked to begin with and I assumed I could just buy a code and unlock it like any other phone.
Before trying to use a bought code, I had tried a testpoint unlock which did not work due to this being a new security model.
Unfortunately I can't take it back to Fido because I'm past their 15 day return policy.
There is a Youtube video of an identical problem to mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aCxH2e47gY
I just want to verify if the new security MCUs are blocking the ability to use network unlock codes.

I don't really know how phones are being sold in Canada, but here in Finland you can just go and buy an unlocked phone. If it then turns out to be locked, of course they will have to unlock it for you.
Or, you can go and buy a phone with a subscription, in which case it may be locked to the carrier in question. YOYO if you switch carriers and still want to use the same phone.
I'm having the same problem with a Fido Xperia U, had 10 attempts initially, now down to 4 after going through an ebay seller mister unlock and now cellunlocker.net, both provided me the same unlock code but it doesn't seems to work.
Mine's a brand new phone, everything stock, I even tried to reflash the firmware with the Sony PC Companion even though I had the latest firmware already.
Same as this guy:

All right, that makes at least 4 confirmed cases of new 2012 Fido Xperias not being unlockable with purchased codes. Let's bring this up with Fido and Sony and see what can be done.

I whiling to pay up to 30 CAD to unlock my phone.
I found my xperia ion on e-bay and it is locked.
1.st question: Can be unlocked with code and use it in Europe gsm network?
2nd. question: If i unlock bootloader, and root, and instal some international custom rom will i unlock network?
1. Yes but good luck getting a code right now as AT&T isn't giving them out.
2. Unlocking bootloader doesn't unlock network (at least not officially) and flashing an international rom has no effect on similar lock status or not.
You'd have to try some of the unlocking services around. There is a thread about unlocking already on the ion forums here at xda. Look at that thread for info.

I bought an used AT&T Ion in Canada from Kijiji and I'm stuck with it. The guy who sold me the phone knew it cannot be unlock but too bad I didn't do a research before I paid him my hard earned money. And I dont want to sell and scam people around saying this can be unlocked. Hopefully it will be possible in the future and then I will either sell it or give it to my budy.

If you mean you wish to unlock the device so it can be used on any network and carrier rather than it be just locked down to one, you are going to need something called a PAC code from the network the device was originally on they are usually free nowadays though some may still charge for the privilege depends where in the world you are. They can also be purchased online from places like eBay and Amazon for a few pounds though I've never tried that way as I've always phoned the network for the code if I've needed one.
I paid for an IMEI repair and I believe it messed up my phone. I was told it was not rooted, but I can not get Samsung Wallet to work at all. Is there a way I can restore the original IMEI without having to root the phone? The phone was originally Branded to AT&T. Can anyone help me please? I had to repair the screen myself because the IMEI shows up as a S21 Ultra so I couldn't even file an Insurance claim when I broke my screen to get a new phone. Any help will be appreciated.
I am just trying to restore my phone to the original IMEI it had before I did this. I am not trying to get anyone in trouble just would like to fix my phone.
