Hi,
I have some problems with my Z1C, you guys might be able to help me !
I have a Z1C 5.1.1 rooted with this rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/general/stock-14-6-1-236-customized-lollipop-5-t3264557 which was dirty flashed over this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/general/14-5-0-242customizedfrpre-t3083055.
- Well first, my battery life has been divided by two with relatively the same usage, especially when I am 4G LTE. Is 5.1.1 known for this battery drain when using mobile data ?
- I have changed my password on an account, and I can't connect to my account using the phone app but I am when using my computer so it really comes from the phone. Weird thing is that, when I switch back to my old password I am able to connect to my account. I thought it came from the Google Smart Lock password stuff, but I deleted the account in question in my Google Account, I have tried to switch it off but no luck either. I have wiped cache, dalvik, boot/reboot, uninstall/install the app in question already so I am kind of stuck.
- Lastly, is it possible to downgrade easily from my current rom to the previous one cited above ? or maybe you can advise me a battery friendly 5.1.1 rom
Thanks in advance!

Lp is not as good on battery as kk in general, but it shouldn't be that bad. Possibly a problem with dirty flash. Backup data and flash clean or try Dsttiker rom.
Yeah, whenever upgrading It's best you always flash over a clean system to avoid problems like these
While downgrading - it is very necessary to clean up Dalvik cache.
Otherwise downgrade didn't work for me what is logical, cache contained stuff which older system didn't recognize.

Hey just wondering what process I go through to install FoxHound 1.1 Black Ed. 4.0.4.
I would like to keep all data on my phone if possible?
I am running 4.0.2 Android revolution HD2.1.2 GSM.
I believe it's running James Bond kernel 3.0.8-Gaaa2611 dirty [email protected]
base band 9250SCOLd.
Did all this side a while ago and just hoping someone could give me the run down on changing to this ROM?
Do I need to completely reset my phone to stock and start again or can I just install this ROM over and keep all my contacts, photos and settings?
If you're changing ROM a full wipe is in 99% necessary. For the 1% just do it to be sure.
To keep the data I recommend that you're using Titanium Backup. It's the best app for keeping
your data backed up.
But don't back up any system apps. Just your personal apps otherwise you could run into problems.
Contacts and calender data aren't a problem if you stored them in the Google Cloud.
The pictures shouldn't be affected but make a back up just in case.
BTW.
If you're changing ROM always perform a full wipe/ factory reset in the recovery. You can avoid many problems if you're doing so.
If you're upgrading your ROM wiping cache and dalvik should be okay. But always follow the devs instruction if he says otherwise.
Hello,
I have owned a Sprint Galaxy S III since August of 2012 and have been using it pretty much flawlessly until this week.
To give some history, I rooted it once it became a common thing to do and have CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4.
I have loaded many different roms - cyanogenmods, m.o.a.r., wicked, miui to try out and many others and have never had an issue.
I recently upgraded to M.O.A.R. v 6.0 at home and everything seemed great - loaded apps, settings, etc. The next day on the way to work, the phone restarted by itself. I thought was strange but chalked it up to a new rom issue. When I got to work, the frequency of the issue increased to the point that the phone was no longer usable as it would just continue to restart, boot, etc.
Restoring the rom I previously had did nothing to help the issue.
I looked up online at possibilities and came across the SD card issue. I replaced it, but still occurs. I've tried a few different roms and no matter what, it seems to continuously boot and restart based on certain locations that I am in or am passing through.
Today, I turned off 4G LTE as preferred mobile network and it seemed to keep the phone on. I have not done extensive testing, but could this be an issue? I am able to use 4G LTE at home with no problem as well as other areas, but it seems that once I am in or pass through certain locations, that it is crashing my phone? Maybe the GPS?
Are there any tips or suggestions of what I can do or try? I am at a loss as to how to fix this when it has not been an issue up until this week after flashing to MOAR v6.0. I've wiped data, cache, dalvik, many times and retried but still is happening.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
At first it sounded like sudden death syndrome (a power button failure) but when you said turning off 4G fixed it that is very weird. Have you tried asking in the M.O.A.R thread?

Are you restoring any System Data ? I would suggest doing a Clean install. Meaning a FULL Wipe : System - Data - Dalvik - Dalvik Cache - Factory Reset ( 3x's ) . I also like to wipe Internal Storage. But that's up to you. Then Flash the Rom, and let it Boot. Do not load anything, or tweak anything. Just leave the device alone for the first 5min. Then test it to be sure everything is working correctly before loading apps, or doing any settings.
Just to update...
I clean installed MOAR 6 again - this time I upgraded CWM to latest version. I clean wiped data/cache, cache, dalvik about 3 or 4 times. Once it reinstalled, I noticed the data wasn't working at all so I did that ##72786# (forgot numbers off top of head) that reactivated phone. The data came back and I thought this was going to solve all the issues...keep in mind I did all this in the evening from home last night.
On the way to work this morning, sure enough once I got in the vicinity of work, phone restarted a few times. I was quick enough to catch it one time to turn preferred mobile networks to 3G first and disable 4G... my phone has not restarted for the rest of the day.
It's great that it seems the issue is isolated to 4G, but I don't understand how it can be fine in some areas and not in others. For instance, at home, 4G works just fine.
I think I will try to go back to stock or try an aosp rom. I've seen in some places talk of MB1 and MD4...is there a way to tell which I have or is that related to anything?

Actually, yes - I have been putting my gmail account information in and it has been syncing the apps. It's just so odd because I haven't had issues for over a year and I don't recall installing any new stuff.
well, now it happened at home when turning on 4g... damn.

You did not mention wiping system. If you do not Wipe system, and also Factory Reset then it's really not a Clean install. I would still suggest a FULL Wipe, and Clean install. Then run the Device for a while without adding anything. See how it performs.
I ended up just flashing this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099 to stock with flash reset.
I am not sure about wiping system - I always just follow the steps of the rom wipe data/cache/dalvik. I will have to research on how to wipe system.
If you never wipe system you are definitely going to run into problems.

You just do it in Recovery before you flash. If you look at my Sig on a PC / Internet Mode there is a link on how to do Full Wipe before flashing a Rom.

Hello guys,
I've been using the Beta 4.0 for a while now and it works brilliantly, so I saw an update beta 3 I had to download it.
It has some bugs, not much apps like how you get in the beta, gapps not installing and my data is off but it is switched on.
Having a android phone with no gapps and data is useless, it's like having a nokia 3310, just phone text and that's it.
Please fix if possible.
Thanks

I installed PA 4.0 Beta 3 as well (yesterday) and I have none of the bugs you're describing: data (3G/2G) works, and Gapps not installing, that depends ENTIRELY on which Gapps you are using. I'm using the latest PA Gapps complete package (23/01/2014) and they just installed for me. So both of the bugs that you're experiencing are only on your end. Are you absolutely sure you set the Data icon correctly, because since Beta 3 PA uses a new Quicksettings systems. See in your systems if it's really working. Also check if your APN is still correct. Download and install the latest version of PA Gapps. If that still doesn't work, you should do a clean install (even though I didn't, I'm coming from CM11 Beta 3, just flashed the latest Gapps and PA 4.0 Beta 3 and everything was good to go).
To be honest you're being rude here and you obviously only tried installing everything once. Well this is a custom ROM scene and you need to do an effort yourself. What I see now is that you're using a "thumbs-down"-icon which is extremely discouraging, comparing this phone to an old dumb phone is also completely out of line because WiFi still works, and there are a ton of other things you could still do even without Gapps and data. This post just smells of you having a sense of entitlement, but don't forget that we're not paying deedwar. If a dev decides not to release a ROM that's very sad and it's all due to threads like these.
So what I'd like you to do now is rephrase your OP, use a positive icon and maybe we can turn this wasted thread into a discussion thread for PA Nozomi instead of a shouting contest.

That is very well said redstarr1 but i dont quite feel as strongly about it as you. I just see it as a logical statement. However it would help if you can expand on your issues somewhat. Did you do a clean install (wipe data / system / cache / dalvik) or just a dirty flash over the top. What network do you connect too and have you tried Changing your carrier in "access point names". Creating a whole thread for an issue but not elaborating on what you have and havent tried really makes it hard to help.
Beta 5
Hi guys,
The latest update beta 5 works just fine but a few bugs.
Sometimes the back button doesn't work, have to restart the phone for it to start working again.
When charging the wireless is activated, and the battery takes longer to charge.
The phone lags now and then but other than that works fine.
If anyone who can post this on the Xperia S development thread I would really appreciate it, I don't have rights to post on the development thread as yet.
Thanks
Beta 6
Hi guys,
The new update of Beta 6 for Paranoid is brilliant.
After the 1st boot the phone is a little slow but after the rom has settled it's very smooth.
So far all I have tested works perfectly, don't like the launcher much though, so I have my own custom launcher, Next launcher works brilliantly and very customizable. The new launcher's that are added aren't very good and would like if they could get the original launcher if possible.
Other than that all is well.
Thanks Paranoidanroid.
Pa beta 4.3 13052014
Thanks deedwar...the rom(PA 4.3 Beta 13052014) works like a charm. My battery lasts for a day...with data on(3G)....although there is issue of random reboots and the date setting to 1972th year...but i think it will be resolved in the next version i.e. Beta 5/6....Love your work..really appreciate it. :good:
Beta 6
Beta 6 is out..!! Great...!! Trying it now..!!
What about VOIP apps(Viber, line etc.) ? do they work on the latest build ? Cheers.
The latest build
Yes, the VOIP does work..(Viber, Skype etc.,)on the latest builds ..however, I am having a few system UI crashes while using option of any app from the notification bar..like when you're downloading an app from Playstore and which you wish to stop or pause from the by pulling down the notification bar. or using controls of the stock android walkman app.

I had installed beta 4. A few days ago I installed beta6 but after install and reboot sony logo appears and mobile does nothing more. I restored a backup and today I tried to install beta7 with the same problem. Has anyone the same problem or have any idea to solve it?
How did you install the ROM?
I assume you did wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing any ROM since you've installed several ROMs. If not, please do so.
Try flashing (with fastboot) a new kernel (twrp or cwm) followed by: (1) factory reset, (2) wipe cache, (3) wipe dalvik cache and then (4) install PA Beta 7.

I had some troubles trying to restore an old backup after the last failed installation. After the failed restore I tried to install Beta 7 again and It worked. I do not know why, but now I have beta7 working perfectly.
Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, ant+ does not work with android version 4.3 and onwards. This has something to do with the drivers I believe (not sure though). So it doesn't matter which ROM you try: all 4.3.x or 4.4.x will not have ant+ support...
Having FCs updating from beanstalk to paranoid
Hey guys! I recently have the beanstalk rom of deedwar for the Acro S and using the current stable build of the rom which is 4.4.278 then i want to try paranoid so heres what i did

2. Flashed the IMG file from the latest version of paranoid rom via Fastboot mode (i extracted it first)
3. Cleared system, factory reset, cache and dalvik cache
4. Installed the zip file
Well it worked and i have the rom but i experienced random FCs so i just reverted back to stock 4.1 ROM and also i am having trouble with some APPS too.. some apps install perfectly but sometimes they dont

Hey all.
At my whits end. I just got the OTA for 5.0.1 (20b) to upgrade from 4.4.2 (10r). I was quite happy with the stability of 4.4.2 since my previous phone was an HTC One M8 with 4.4.4. I really like 5.0.1, unlike most people, I like the interface and added features, even though not all 3rd party apps can still not write to External SD.
But ever since I installed the official update, "android.system.acore" keeps crashing, preventing me from using any Google service, Dialer, Contacts, composing Email (through AquaMail), and using LG Backup. Called T-Mobile tech support and they said that this process is part of the central Android system and affects basically everything. That they have never had a report of this on any recent phone and haven't seen it since very early Android systems (Pre-ICS). They said the only sure way of fixing this is a Factory Reset.
Obviously I would prefer NOT to do that. Any solutions? Please. Prefer not to root, but will if I have to, especially if I can easily unroot.

Unfortunately when stuff like that happens after an update, a factory reset is a must. Especially to a big update like lollipop that has a lot of systems changes.
The same thing just happened to me this morning. Last night I started getting massive duplicate text messages - 1 every 15 minutes for the whole night. I tried clearing the messaging app and storage data and cache, multiple resets, different text apps, etc and nothing worked. This morning the acore message started running every 5 seconds. I've tried clearing the contants app and storage cache and data and that doesn't work either.
I'm mentally gearing up for a factory reset unfortunately. Given that I generally dislike all of the user interface and behavior changes in v5, this is just adding insult to injury. I'll probably end up rooting just to get things back to where I liked them...

If you don't like the interface, not to dissuade you from rooting, but you could always install an alternative launcher. That doesn't 3ven require root or a custom ROM.

So then should I just reset and not upgrade to 5.0.1, stay at 4.4.2? Or reset and reupgade back to 5.0.1? Or stay at 4.4.2 until the next update after 5.0.1 (which at the rate LG goes, could be years)? Or would it be safe to use a custom or stock ROM with Lolly? Or should I just assume that 5.0.1 is completely toxic for my phone.

if you do factory reset after you upgrade ROM, it will stay at whatever ROM you have, in your case 5.0.1.

According to your post you upgraded to the Lollipop rom already via OTA. So by factory reseting your phone now it will still be on the lollipop. But I am saying that by reseting the phone, you will have all your errors fixed and lollipop should be stable as KitKat if not better. If factory reset does not fix your issues that means that the updating process on your phone did not finished correctly, which is rare, then you would need to flash via KDZ. But if you are not against rooting and custom recovery, I highly recommend you do that instead of flashing KDZ.
Update for folks: I ended up doing a factory reset (what a pain) which fixed the problem. A few hours later as i was logging back in to all my apps and accounted, acore started failing every 5 seconds again. I read on a different forum that it was liked to Facebook trying to sync contacts which killed the contacts app. I uninstalled Facebook and everything works fine. So it looks like a bug in Contacts that something in Facebook is hitting and causing it to die.

I just bought my htc from second hand. It already had viperone (kitkat sense 6) but im not able to connect with google services. Just can't connect, it says: "There was a problem communicating with Google servers.
Try again later". I'm using wifi, coz at the moment i don't have that micro micro sim(whatever). Phone is from UK, but i live in Poland. I just returned settings, wiped dalvik cache and it didn't help. Should i do factory reset and flash latest version of rom?
And there is one thing, bottom speaker doesn't work. But i heard that's software bug so if i understand good, it would dissapear with new rom, would it?
Try flashing a rom. Since you just got it hopefully any personal data you can't restore it isn't of much value. If you attempt a custom recovery factory reset (twrp) use the format data option that has you type YES before it formats it.... Some google apks are kept when you use that option. If you simply wipe the data partition it will remove and essential google apks that might prevent you from using their services entirely.
If you plan on using any rom based on a newer version of android remeber to get your hands on a recent firmware.zip from xda that has the updated hboot, radio, rcdata etc still in it. If you don't youll run into all kinds of issues trying to use a lollipop rom with a phone still thinking its on kitkat.
Thanks, i just did factory reset, wiped every possible data and flashed latest kitkat viperone, everything is working without problem now. Except speaker, bottom one is very quiet, probably hardware issue, blown speaker or smth - grill is clean, so i need to speak with guy about return. Thanks anyway. ; )
