Stock flashable ROM for I9190 (no odin) - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The usb connection on my s4 mini 3g has long since died (but still charges). I have TWRP and CM13, but I need to load a stock or stock-ish ROM for a friend.
I'm having trouble finding one through searching. I'm looking for a stock flashable touchwiz rom. It can be deoxed and debloated, but close enough looking to stock.
Or alternatively, does someone have a system restore file?
Thanks!

So using ADB over WIFI, I managed to push each stock firmware file (.mbn and .img) over to my sdcard. Then in TWRP terminal , I manually typed in dd commands, eg "dd if=/sdcard/aboot.mbn of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5"
(after finding the partitions using adb)
I did this for all partitions except recovery. All transfers were successful, yet no OS was loaded and reboot hangs on the samsung logo. What should I do differently?
Can I not dd system.img.ext4 to the mmcblk0p21?

I would recommend using a jtag but that would too much of a hassle unless its really necessary.

Doesn't jtag require a working USB port?
and honestly, it would be cheaper for me to get the USB port replaced at a shop than use a jtag service.
My device isn't bricked. I can flash any rom I want through recovery. All I need to figure out is how to flash a stock rom without using linux to rebuild the system firmware as a zip or using odin/fastboot.

not necessarily, the jtag is hooked up directly to the board of the device and you can load stock rom using it. I was just suggesting that method because that seemed like the most viable option imo.

Flash Back to Stock with a Broken USB

I need to return this phone back to Samsung to repair my broken USB. But I need to flash it back to unroot it and flash it back to stock.
I have no USB capabilities whatsoever.
I have tried Mobile ODIN but this phone model is not currently supported or it doesn't detect the model.
I have been reading for hours now and I have not found a definitive solution that works for this phone.
Does anyone have any advice?
Does anyone know where I can find this?

He was linking to a flashable stock rom, kernel and recovery. The link is now gone... But this is what I need. something flashable since USB is gone.
Maybe someone knows how to make stock flashable? Or if anyone has a backup that is fully stock everything and is willing to help me out that would also be awesome.
Please please please please please!!! I need help!

You can use FUS Downloader to get the odin flashable tars or use the links provided below. I recommend you use fus downloader if you can, as it has faster download speeds though.

I should have it ready to download soon, I'm just adding the stock recovery and then i should be able to upload. I'll update this post when it's up and tested.
EDIT : It flashed me completely to stock without error, but it came out as 351MB so i need to find a new place to upload. Shouldn't be too much longer.
EDIT 2 : I have it uploading to Dev-Host now and should be up in about 30mins.
EDIT 3 : Uploaded here.
Well this has been quite the horrible week. I want to thank you for your work... Unfortunately it seems that I have lost root. In one of my previous attempts to go back to stock I flashed an unroot tmobile rom and it seems I'm now stuck with that and now unrooted. I'm guessing I'm screwed since there is no way to root without usb...
I want to shoot myself in the face...
Samsung is going to get a Telus S2 back with a Tmobile rom on it. There's no way they'll fix it now right?

It depends, do you still have a custom recovery? Also I know one-click root worked on Telus's Gingerbread rom so maybe a tool like that might work.
Well it's stock recovery now... And would one click work without usb?

have you tried to download su to see if maybe you just need to load that back up on your phone. If not there are programs like adbd Insecure adb wifi and goo manager that may somehow be able to get you back.
adbd Insecure - will allow you to push files over to your system even without root access
adb wifi - incase you need to send a recovery over to your sdcard and then use the proper commands to install
goo manager - has twrp 2.2.2.0 in it so if you install that program you flash their recovery through the app.
put the factory zip on your sdcard and hopefully voila!
Just some choices - hope one works and good luck

i just tried adbd on my own phone(since i never flashed back cm10 yet) and unfortunately when i start the app it asks for superuser.
Thanks for the replies! I'm gonna try goo manager right now...
But would something like this work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
Update: Goo Manager isn't really doing anything unfortunately... It won't install anything I download. Seems simple enough so I'm sure I'm not doing anything wrong there...
Update #2: Yes. All of the above seem to need root, and since I don't have root...
Thank you playya for the sugesstions!
Thank you namanjr for doing that work... I wish I had waited longer to flash the rom I did!
I think its game over. I've been trying for a week and there's not a lot of options to flash stock, root/unroot if your USB is broken... which seems ridiculous to me but it is what it is...

I don't think that will work, i used normal ADB to reinstall TWRP and it wouldn't flash until i used su.

It can flashed OTA updates, signed zips/md5s, wipes cache partition, and factory restore. I tried the ODIN md5 file for stock and it never worked so unless someone cracks/or knows Samsungs signature i don't think it's much use. Also if you flash a rom for anything other then phones that are compatible with ours(I727, I717, etc), you will brick.
Hmmm... and I'm assuming there isn't somewhere you can download the official samsung OTA updates?

I seen a link somewhere back when 2.3.6 came out for T-Mobile but it was only an incremental update and Telus doesn't have any OTA updates.

[Q] Revert to stock without USB

I have been having issues with my phone not charging and being recognized in my PC. I have tried everything I can think of to fix it without success. At this point I need to send it back to Verizon, but I am currently running AOKP. So I need to revert it back to stock before I can send it.
Since the phone is not being recognized, ADB is not an option. I have tried using Mobile Odin Pro, but with v3.45 and 3.50, I get this error when I try to flash the factory image from Google: "An error occurred extracting the update script"
Any ideas how I can revert back to stock?
There ARE other ways to do it. Read the stickies.
For odin, you need compatible images with ODIN, which is not supported by Google/Samsung (just be reminded of that); the ones we get from Google are to be flashed with fastboot.
Quick tip: i believe you need to relock bootloader with the app before going back to stock completely (since you'll loose root).
Sent from my i9250
I looked at all the stickies, and I can't find anything. Am i just missing it?
this may be a shot in the dark but I had a problem with my usb port not working on my gsm gnex, and thought i needed to send it in to sammy. Then i found a thread where a guy talked about pushing the tip of a razer blade(carefully) in between the tab in the middle of the usb port and the rear of phone. I tried it and since have had no charging problems. As a matter of fact I had forgotten about it until reading this thread.
Or mabye someone with a verizon gnex can upload a stock nandroid for you. As for bootloader unlocked..

Restore factory (unroot, stock recovery) without USB connection
I've read through all the threads that I can find on this an other forums regarding this challenge. Basically I have an locked bootloader rooted Galaxy Nexux Toro that has a slightly tweeked rooted JRO03O system and the Jelly Bean bootloader.
I want to restore stock recovery and stock system but the USB port is totally fried. (It actually smoked last time I plugged it in).
I have Odin Mobile Pro downloaded and a tarball for 4.0.4 (VzW-PDA-ODIN-I515EL03_ICL53F_signed.tar) ready to inject using ODIN. However I'm afraid to go ahead with this because I've read that ICS can't handle the Jelly Bean bootloader that is on my phone. As far as I see it I have 4 options:
1. Go ahead and flash the ICS tarball and hope that it works with the JB bootloader but potentially be screwed if it messes up the recovery partition with no way to reflash it as I have no USB.
2. Use the tarball that was in the google release mysid-jro03o-factory-f17426e6.tgz that the toolkit extracted when it unpacked the tgz (it's called mysid-jro03o-factory-f17426e6.tar and the toolkit pulled it from the tgz along with the zip and all the other bits and pieces)
4. Flash the tarball that I created using the GNex toolkit (Wug's) that I made using the img files for system, recovery, kernel and userdata that I pulled out of mysid-jro03o-factory-f17426e6.tgz after allowing the toolkit to unpack the TGZ
4. Try and reflash the ICS bootloader and hope the phone reboots ok into my current ROM and allows me to flash the ICF53F tarball using ODIN.
Any advice on which of these options (or another not listed) stands the best chance of success from those more knowledgeable would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

True, only earlier versions support older bootloaders, not the other way round. Some of it could work, maybe doesnt boot at all (it may be a bit extreme for the device not to, but maybe there's the chance.)

Not sure how to flash ICS bootloader on the phone... I assume you're relying on Odin Mobile for this task? Anyways, if you manage to do it, then go ahead and use odin again to restore to factory.

Yes, just return the device. Its got a freaking bad usb port. Even if they can see you modded the rom/updated system etc, and they give you trouble, just ask them to restore the device to its factory state, without USB!! "It's a developers phone people!!!" Personally, i think they will only look at unlocked/locked boot screen.

Depending on your phone model and what method you are trying to use to root, you may need to flash SuperSU via recovery. This process does not, however, start in recovery. It starts with flashing custom recovery via Odin and then manually booting to recovery to flash the SuperSU zip. To flash a custom recovery via Odin, you would need to boot into download mode. There are other methods, of course, to root that do not require either download or recovery modes. What's the model of your phone and what firmware version are you on?
Have you tried flashing a pre-rooted ROM? You have an i747 or i747m?

I should have stated my goal. My goal is to put kitkat on my phone. After talking to my provider (petro mobility) on the Rogers network no upgrades are going to be provided and at the very least I need an s4 or better s5 to run kitkat. Also this information I was given is NOT official but only the opinion of an employee"s personal opinion, having worked for the company for some time. The phone is not supported in any way by petro mobility but is only running on the Rogers network. If any upgrades are made it will be by Rogers. Rogers will not say anything because I am not a Rogers customer.
To flash a Kit Kat ROM, you need to have a custom recovery installed on your phone.
You can load Philz Touch via Odin. You can flash the latest tar Philz d2lte from here: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2lte
Boot into download mode, put the Philz tar file in the PDA section of Odin, check nothing except auto reboot and F.Reset Time.
Boot into recovery mode and you will see that Phil has replaced the stock recovery.
You can copy a custom rom to your external micro SD card and flash it.
If you just want a rooted stock ROM, look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...tmctr=(not provided)&__utmv=-&__utmk=34317218
Warning: doing all of these things can soft or hard brick your phone. Make sure you read and understand everything before proceeding. The method I described worked my i747m with 4.1.2 and another i747m with 4.3. I cannot guarantee it will work for you.

Now you have custom recovery, you can flash a Kit-Kat based custom ROM. There is, of course, a difference between a Kit-Kat based custom ROM and official Kit-Kat 4.4. We have information and I'm sure they are reliable enough, that Kit-Kat 4.4 will be rolled out for Samsung GS III and all its variants including the i747U/M. The expectation has, however, been on for some time and no one really knows when and if. If you are using a custom ROM, you will not be able to get OTA updates for official firmware if the official version is rolled out but manual updates will still be possible, thanks to the development community.

I don't personally use ROM Manager as I find it redundant. Now that you have Philz which can flash pretty much any KK ROM, you can just stick with using Philz to flash.
I like the Validus ROM on the i747m. I find it works well and has great battery life and performance.
BTW, you do not need to root in order to flash a custom ROM.

I need stock firmware from ANYONE SM-t807A it does not exist on the web.

I have spent days looking, turn on goes to kies firmware screen yet when i put in the model and s/n it shuts and the new samsung app to replace kies is of no help. I can get to the download screen and odin shows it up but no ATT 10.5 Tab S Sm-T807A firmware ANYWHERE.

You searched for "sm-t807a"
It would better if you just explain what state the tablet is in and how it got to that state.
There is no official software for the t807a.
OK here how it goes,
The tablet was completely fine.
The original owner ( a family member) tried to root it and didnt accomplish it, somehow through his process it ended up softbricked.
I can enter he download mode for odin but no firmware for this LTE model.
When I turn it on it goes to the kies screen but kies doesnt recognize it, and when I enter the serial it buffers for 2 seconds then closes the process of kies.
Also it says device isnt supported and yes I have installed the right drivers and uninstalled kies numerous times.
The new replacement prog for Kies (forgot the name) is no help either.
Im terrified of what to do next as it does go to the odin screen just no firmware as I stated.
Any update, or could someone upload the stock firmware so i can use Odin on it.
Samsung told me ATT can flash it for free onto it so its deff a possibility however I do not have a ATT account so they cant help me.
It doesn't boot because the stock recovery has been wiped/replaced.
Thats assuming you have tried to boot recovery?
The att models are all bootloader locked.
I'm surprised a bootloader locked device even allowed an unsigned image to flash or did they use something like flashify?
The stock ota update was posted by someone here a while back. Your only chance is to pull the recovery from it and try and flash it in download mode. However odin may refuse to flash it.
If I can find it I can pull out the recovery.img and post a modified cf_autoroot which will try and flash the original recovery, that's if odin will even accept the image.
I was used with something like kingroot.

The images won't flash as they are raw unsigned images.
The update should contain a signed recovery image, but may still not flash with odin as the tar package you make will not be signed either and odin may refuse to flash
There may be a way though, another member managed to brick their device by flashing twrp using Heimdall, but couldn't then flash back the stock recovery with Heimdall.
If somehow the stock recovery can be forced to flash with Heimdall then there's a chance of unbricking the device.
I worked just flashed the FW part through AP did it on a friends pc all is back to new.

Unfortunately, Heimdall shows the same behaviour as Odin has.
AFAIK they are using the same protocol and seems that recovery CRC/sign check done via device internally, not via flashing tool.

The gui question was for synphonica about Heimdall.
Are you saying you flashed the images with odin? Which version and which images?
This has been tried before and failed.
Also what do you mean you tried a pc with the same firmware, same firmware as what?
I'm new to rooting so be gentle, I just bought a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 sm-t807a (AT&T) with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. I want to backup the stock ROM (firmware) so I can go back just in case I bricked it when rooting or installing custom ROM. I searched the web but there are no clear instruction on how to do it for an unrooted sm-t807a. Can someone provide me with a step-by-step instruction? I can share my backup of the stock ROM afterward since there does not seem to be one on the web. Thank you in advance for your help.

You can only root with Kingroot, don't try any other method or you'll brick it nor can you install a custom kernel or recovery.
Once you have root you can pull the partition images with EFS PRO or PARTITION BACKUP.
The best way to have a back up is to catch the stock Firmware update.
This is tricky so research how to do it.
There is one backup I know of:

10.1 Note (2014 Edition - SM-P600) Continuously Reboots - Please HELP

Hello Everyone!
I'm stuck!!! If anyone can help, it is so appreciated!
I attempted to root my subject named device using ODIN following these directions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10-2014/development/root-cf-auto-root-t2905495
Everything seems to go as planned until restart.. the tablet continuously reboots, over and over, but fails to load.
I have no clue what to do from here, so this is my only option... ask those who have much more knowledge than me!
Thanks in advance. I really appreciate your assistance.
That's called a bootloop. Something went wrong with flashing. What is a subject named device? That autoroot method only works for smp600 that is already running stock 5.1 or 4.4.2 . Boot into downloadmode using the appropriate buttons, then Download stock firmarwe from sammobile.Com and flash via Odin to get back a working device.
Which build are you on? If it is 5.1.1, that method will result in a bootloop if you try to root.
Use this instead

The tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Model SM-P600.
Not sure about the build.... but I will most definitely checkout the link you provided - thanks!
Question, can I flash a different rom rather than stock?
Also, I was just able to flash TWRP via ODIN and was able to get TWRP to load on the device. I'm hoping to flash a custom rom from the external SD via TWRP. I don't care which one at this point.. just need to get the tablet functional again and get a backup saved lol.

Here is "how to" instruction by me - post #225 for upgrade to the latest 5.1.1 and root your device. Once done and you want custom rom, just boot into twrp and flash any custom rom that you like. Let me know if you have issue.
