MoboPlay is a free mobile phone application, a pc connect mobile phone software, helps you to connect your mobile phone to pc.
MoboPlay lets you sync your apps, videos and files with all your Android/iOS devices right from the desktop and with full control. Smartphone Users can simplify the task of syncing their computer and Android/iOS device with the MoboPlay application. MoboPlay is a free mobile phone application, it allows Windows PC based users to seamlessly control and sync their Android/iOS mobile device without any hassle. The application is available absolutely free of cost and can be installed on any Windows operating system for controlling and syncing data between the computer and an Android/iOS device.
MoboPlay allows users to sync music, videos and images between the device and the computer. iTunes does not allow any device other than Apple to connect and sync data between them. But with MoboPlay this is also possible. One of the most useful features of MoboPlay is its ability to install applications on the device which it sources from free application stores. Once the application is downloaded on the computer it stays there, something like iTunes, and it can be installed on devices over and over without the need to download it again.

Hi,
I have been told that there is a registry setting to prevent applications being unloaded from a WM5/6 device.
Can anyone tell me what it is?
I want to install a personal fw but don't want the users to unload this when my back is turned and opening up our network...
Many thanks,
Sam.
You can remove a program from the 'uninstall' list via registry (sorry don't remember the key) but this won't stop someone from simply deleting the files.
As for stopping an up from running - there is no such key. If the program has no active or visible windows it will not show in the regular task manager, but if a user knows enough he can easily delete if from autostart or turn it off using a 3rd party app manager.
But there is one thing I don't quite understand about your question:
You want to put a firewall on the phones of people in your company / organization so that when they connect to your network they won't jeopardize it?
Don't you need a firewall on the network side for this?
Note that WM devices (unlike XP etc) have virtually no server components so unless your users install a harmful app there is nothing for the intruder to connect to. (No file sharing, no remote desktop etc.)
First off Hi all and Im no longer a XDA virgin, or I wont be in a few days anyway
I borrowed my mates old mobile phone that has mobile 2003 SE to see if I could control my desktop pc with it, thats running vista 64bit, so I can turn on my desktop pc, run winamp and play all my tunes from my bed. I must of tried 2 or 3 bits of software with no luck each time. then I noticed the "Terminal Services Client" that win mobile had. That sort of worked and I did remotly ran winamp, but it wouldnt play for some reason?? But the software kept hanging and crashing so I couldnt really do much anyway. Ive looked for another version of "Terminal Services Client" for windows mobile but theres none.
Tonight Ive just bought my first mobile/pocket pc "SPV M2000 / HTC Blueangel" for £60. Its been upgraded to windows mobile 6.1, so my question is will I have better luck with remote desktop on windows mobile 6.1 and does 6.1 has "Terminal Services Client"? If not what is the best software for remote desktop for win remote 6.1?
vncviewer
can't answer your question about 6.1, but a good simple solution might be the decent little vncviewer program for windows mobile on sourceforge. works good on my htc wizard 100 (a.k.a. cingular 8125) running winmo 5.0. I use UltraVNC server on the PC - good encryption and the works. not sure whether the remote assistance or terminal services is as secure.
For me tihs is the best:

there's two big different strings of remote desktop programs, one logs you in and you have your pc's desktop on your device's display and you have the full pc experience, but, it logs you off on your pc, like pc to pc remote connection. the other one is to control your pc and still have the pc running for itself, just as an external control or HID device.
if you want the first, the full experience, i would recommend wm6 rdp, just google it, it is freemail and works like a normal remote desktop, meaning you need to configure your router and your pc to do that. it's freeware by the way. in general i would not use iton a blueangel, because 240*320 is just too little to have an overview of the pc's desktop, which, in my case has a resolution of 1680*1050. i do use that program on my universal though, and it works just fine.
the other thing is to use the HID, the bestestest program for that is ppc tablet, unfortunately it is not free, but it's great, you stay logged on to your pc and can control winamp and any other program, use your touchscreen as a touchpad, like a notebook's mouse, you have a lot of possibilities. here are some links you might want to have a look at, too.

will add more, when i found them, but you can also search for remote desktop in the forum and you find a lot of results, that might help you get it to work.
EDIT: here is the link i was looking for:

this is the official great round-up of the best remote desktop programs out there, you can look up, what you need, what and if you are willing to pay for that and the functuionality it offers
Thanks guys.. I will have a play about when I get the phone hopefully tomorrow. Basically what I need the phone todo, is turn on my desktop from standby, run shortcuts I have in my start menu of my playlists, control winamp and put my desktop pc back onto standby. Then I dont have to get out of my pit at all,. What would be nice aswel, if the phone could remember my password so I dont have to log on to windows each time.
oooh, i just saw... "turn on my desktop from standby", that could become difficult, since neither the real remote desktop services, nor the addon services can run in standby and realize your approach of access, for example: some services like ppc tablet (which would be great for your winamp uses) need a server program running on your pc and a client software running on the ppc, but technically the server wouldn't run in standby, and as i mentioned before rdp services do neither, the pc needs to be turned on and connected to your network to be accessable. plus there is no such thing as "power on wlan", so that wouldn't work either. putting the computer into standby isn't that much of a problem, with ppc tablet you can simply navigate the mouse cursor to do so, in rdp services there is no direct function for standby, because in the version you get on your screen, the start menu's shut down,... commands are changed, but you can make a shortcut on the desktop to do so. i don't know about the command now, but google certainly will.
I did try the wakeup on lan, when I tried it with my mates phone, and it did wake me pc up but the "Terminal Services Client" on his phone kept crashing for some reason, and winamp loaded but couldnt get it to play for some reason.
Is there such a thing? I've never heard it discussed but it would seem to be necessary.
I have a TP2 with WM6.1
Mobile Antivirus
This is info from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/totalaccess/columns/mobile-security.mspx
Windows Mobile antivirus partners
I've summarized those that are most appropriate for individual users or small business, and listed those that deliver enterprise-level solutions. This list is not exhaustive, but represents a sampling of Windows Mobile partners.
*
BullGuard Mobile Antivirus (Pocket PC). From London, England, this young company focuses entirely on protecting home users and small businesses. The software protects against malware sent via your most significant vectors: e-mail, SMS, direct download, Bluetooth or IR—with 24/7 live chat for support included. I give high marks to their very simple set-up, simple interface, and over-the-air updates. You are not overburdened with choices, but you do get to choose whether to quarantine or delete suspicious files.
*
F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus (Pocket PC). F-Secure is a well-known antivirus champion. Their product provides automatic real-time protection and OTA updates. It has an exceptionally clean interface. All files are intercepted and scanned when you access them. When a virus is detected, it is automatically quarantined. The F-Secure Web site is rich with information, including summaries of monthly threats, to make it easy to stay informed.
*
AirScanner Mobile Antivirus (Pocket PC and smartphone). AirScanner is ideal for experts. Besides scan, detect, and quarantine, it has options for "string search" and offers robust log information. The System Information screens give you a snapshot of memory resources, useful for detecting Denial of Service attacks that do not erase data but can bring your system to a halt. The "ActiveGuard" feature, turned on by default, offers real-time scanning and an option to do a double-check via a "slow" file system crawl that checks attached storage cards and files received through e-mail attachments and Web pages.
*
Symantec AntiVirus for Handhelds (Pocket PC). Symantec offers both an annual service edition and a corporate edition so that your software is always up-to-date to detect the latest threats.
*
Trend Micro Mobile Security (smartphone). This integrated antivirus and anti-spam solution is targeted to corporate and mobile cell service providers.
If you've read any of my other columns, you know I feel strongly that technology alone is not sufficient protection; your own best practices are just as important. I urge you to review some of the sidebar links about what you can do to protect your data in transit and data at rest.
At our company, we decided we wanted to be proactive and lock up the barn. Protecting our customers' information and our intellectual property is crucial to our reputation, and to our business. Do we need it now? We hope not. But it’s always best to take action before there’s a problem.
And Kapersky has a version as well
http://download.cnet.com/Kaspersky-...obile-Phone-Edition/3000-2064_4-10640245.html
Thanks for that great info. It looks like the list on Microsoft's site is purely anti-virus. The last link for Kaspersky does have a firewall as well.
I really dread installing security apps because I'm sure it will slow down my TP2 even more. I would be interested to hear if anyone is running any of these and what your experiences are.
Can anyone post me a link to known or suspected WM viruses please ?
Thanks
Don't bother with mobile antiviruses on Windows Mobile. I actually bought a 1 year subscription to Symantec Mobile Antivirus a few years back, and it had a neat feature to view all the viruses in the virus database. All 30 of them... Ignoring all the ones made for Java or Symbian, there were only about 5 viruses for Windows Mobile. And ALL of them required you to go to obviously illegal sites, download them, and install them on your phone. Common sense is the best antivirus for Windows Mobile. Save your money and your TP2's processing power for better things.
thats like sticking that gsm signal improvers
I use the Kaspersky Mobile Security for about 3 years and it's great. It includes Antivirus, Firewall, AntiSpam, AntiTheft and Childern Control. Best 39$ I ever gave...
This ought to speed up the phone
The phone is slow enough as it is and you want to install antivirus and firewall on it?????? Come on man.
First of all thank you guys for such a great apps environment you created for our lazy WM platform.
Second of all I hope I am posting my request in the right place. Could someone start developing an application similar in functions with AirVideo for iphone. Its a basic app with a server(PC) - client(device) side that allows you to play on the phone any video stored on the PC (and any other storage media connected to the PC) without having to actually transfer the video on the device itself.
For more info please check : http://www.inmethod.com/air-video/index.html
It would be amazing if someone could achieve this. I would gladlly pay for such an app as I oftenly like to review my video courses I have stored on my PC from the convenience of my phone.
PS: I gave up the iphone platform 6 months ago and I am so much happier with my HD2.

Try orb. i use it on my HD2 and it works great. There's no need for a client app either! Just a browser (built in IE will do).
10x for the suggestion, I wasn't aware of this software.
Does it provide access to my content through my wireless router (under a local connection - PC and phone using the same WIFI) or do I have to stream everything through my broadband and their online servers?
All you need for airvideo is that the phone and the pc are connected to the same WIFI. All the streaming is done using the local connection which is good for privacy and there is also the option to convert a video file on the fly.
This sort of functionality I would like on the windows mobile platform if a developer would like to give it a go.

Orb basically turns your PC into a media server. You just use whatever means you want to connect to your PC. I have a use one of those services that gives your PC a name, and I just connect to it via that, so I can do it via my internet connection if I want to, or connect via wifi and use the local IP address (192.168.x.x) to connect that way, but I don't tend to do that much, as I'm obviously in range of my PC if I'm in range of the router
Orb gives you access to specified folders on your PC, and all the media within them. It does images, video and music, so it really is a great addition to any device.
After the porting of Bluetooth in Mobile Phones, data transferring has become really easy; just turn on the Bluetooth, Pair with other device and share the data while doing other stuff. You can even connect a Headset to listen to music using Bluetooth and in these hours of technology, Bluetooth is even available in all of the devices and with fast transferring speed too. However, when it comes to an Apple device, simply an iPhone, things are a lot more different.
Apple devices have Bluetooth ported in them, but it can only be used for connecting Bluetooth devices, not for ‘Transferring data’. So, if you have an Android device and you want to transfer data to an iPhone, you can’t just except to transfer data using Bluetooth. However, Wi-Fi can be used to do such a thing, all you need is to download an Application and start transferring.
iPhone-android
How To Transfer Media Between Android and iPhone
Open App stores on both the devices, and Downlaod Photo Sync.
Android version is free with Ads, while on iOS you need to pay $2.99.
Make Sure both the devices are connected to the same Network.
Open the app and Select the Photos and Videos.
Once you have selected them all, Tap the Red Sync Button on the Top.
After that Choose the Transfer mode, in this case it is Phone/Tablet.
The app will then search for the nearby devices with Photo Sync installed on them.
Now all that left is to tap the device to which you want to share with and Transfer the files.
If by any chance App does not search for devices automatically, you can configure the IP manually.
The Files will be transfered via Wi-Fi connectivity, hence noticeably faster than Bluetooth.

bump is an easier way to transfer
Maybe ShareIT is the best.
I'm using SHAREIt and it works very fine with me
Also I have another app name Software Data Cable and I'm using this one to transfer from & TO PC efficiently
You can also use Picxer. It works similar to a messenger but sends the pictures in full quality. And they are automatically saved in gallery. Works well for me
