Well I'm going to be talking about my speaker performance on the 10 compared to my previous phone the HTC One M8.
I don't know how HTC thought the 10's sound quality via the speaker was acceptable. I mean don't get me wrong the clarity of the sound from the speakers blows the m8 away for miles. It's hard to listen to the M8 without thinking how bad the clarity is imo. BUT the 10 is not as loud. The 10's tweeter on the front sometimes over powers the sub on the bottom and makes the song sound thin and tinny. I even tried flac files and still same thing. Not every song does this but a lot do. It doesn't have the force or drive like the M8 does. It seems like left (tweeter) and right (sub woofer) channels of song. You put the left and right together to get the full sound of the song. The M8 I believe has the left and right channels of the song on both speakers. That makes it more fuller an louder.
The M8 is pretty mushed at high volume meaning, it feels like all the instruments in the song are mashed together and thrown at you imo which is why I think the M8 doesn't have great clarity at all.
I'd like to say having clarity over mushed but louder and fuller sound is better but honestly I don't know anymore BUT hey the 10 has great headphone audio and other great features that make it worth having over the M8.
Let me know what you think and hopefully you guys have a better experience with sound meaning, there is a possibility that my device's speaker are defective lol.
Coming from an M8, I would say the HTC 10 definitely clearer but not as loud as the M8. However, it feels HTC worked on sound quality versus just making it loud.
It's a worthy trade-off. Using two different speakers for highs and lows is a brilliant idea and it really shows. I prefer listening to music at a mild volume for clarity versus loud somewhat distorted.
There were phones that were louder than the M8 but not as clear which is what BoomSounds trademark is.
On the 10, I can hear leaves rustling, fire popping, and other ambient noise that has never sounded so crisp, distinct, and natural. I feel like its the ATH-M50 of mobile sound with his balance.

try music mode its almost stereo
I'm glad I wasn't the only one that felt the speakers sounded a bit tinny, especially at max volumes. It seemed a bit underwelming compared to my Nexus 6p. At moderate volumes however, it sounds decent. Lots of clarity.
Has anyone installed V4A and tried volume boost or increasing gain?
and i hate that boom sound doesn't work when using soundcloud google play yes and apple music no soundcloud wtf

No since vzw got no root yet BUT poweramp has a volume booster and it is doing wonders.

The headphone jack is awesome and the audio profiles are badass. Creating profiles is done using two options: "Answer questions" which asks your age, styles of music you generally listen to, etc., and "Listen to frequencies" which generates a much more detailed 5-band EQ. The latter is much better because you can tune it based on what you can actually hear in either ear - it plays a frequency tone in the left headphone, you adjust the volume until you can barely hear it, then it plays a higher tone, you adjust volume, etc., and then it repeats the process for the right ear.
This is beneficial since boosting certain frequencies is often more useful (and less harmful to your hearing) than just cranking up the overall volume. No one has "perfect" hearing and hearing loss is often not uniform across the normal range of audible frequencies, nor is it necessarily uniform from left ear to right ear. In my case, my left ear required a little extra bass and highs while my right ear needed extra mid-range.
You can also use this to adjust the headphone output to specific listening environments you encounter. For example, creating an audio profile while on an airplane should be able to compensate for the engine noise. Later this morning I'll be setting up a profile with my lawnmower running outside, so I'm looking forward to hearing the results.
My only complaints are UI related:
1. The audio profiles are buried about 3 levels deep in Settings. When you plug in headphones, you get the "HTC BoomSound with Dolby Audio" card in the notification shade. Tapping the card takes you to the main Settings app, where you tap "HTC BoomSound with Dolby Audio" again, then "Personal Audio Profile", then choose or create your profile. Would have liked something a little simpler to use, or at least have the notification card go directly to the BoomSound settings instead of requiring an extra tap.
2. There doesn't appear to be a way to edit a profile or view its settings after you create it. You can enable it or you can delete it. -- EDIT: This is incorrect; I am an idiot. You tap in the profile to edit it.
3. The audio profiles are completely hidden when the headphone jack is not in use. You can't even see the profiles you've created. Tapping on "HTC BoomSound with Dolby Audio" in Settings just toggles the speakers between Music Mode and Theater Mode.
tl;dr - lives up to the hype. Maybe even better than hyped.
Source: have mixed audio (both live and recording settings) for >10 years, did my testing with a pair of Audio-Technica studio headphones.
I've got a pretty good system in my car and I just tried it out a few minutes ago. It sounds amazing! I'm coming from an M8 with V4A and it sounds about the same in some respects and better in others. I created a profile with frequencies and the difference after doing so was definitely noticeable. I like that they even have a high quality sample with a toggle so you can compare very easily. I do miss the Clarity setting and the equalizer in V4A, but overall I am extremely pleased!
What I'm running, for reference:
Arc Audio XDI 600 amp
Focal i165 fronts
JBL 3-way 6x9 rears
12" Diamond Audio sub
Regarding the "Personal Audio Profile", I understand you can create multiple profiles yeah? Can you give those profiles custom names?
I for example would probably like to do at least three different "listen to frequencies" profiles: for my Piston 3's, the HTC hi-res buds and for my superlux hd-330's.
Would be nice if you can name them however you want ;D
Also is there an option somewhere within the settings to disable the 16>24 upsampling bs?
Checked out the 10 at Verizon side by side to my M8. Played same YouTube song. 10 is clearer but, very tinny and I can't here it over the surrounding noise, tried both modes. The M8 at least I can hear it and can't believe people say you can't hear the stereo separation, you can if you turn the device side ways. Over all having the choice I would pick the two front facing speakers all day long. I think HTC blew it hear, at least there is a work around with Bluetooth speaker. This is a amazing device except for the speakers and lack of IR blaster. I will still get the 10 mainly for the dev support this will get.

If they could, I am sure they would have kept the front facing speakers, but that would have meant bigger bezels, on-screen navigation keys and fingerprint scanner at the back. That would have killed the device from the outset, so the current speaker configuration is the best compromise.

1) You can create multiple profiles and name it whatever you want.
2) Upscaling bit-depth from 16 to 24 will NOT do any harm in theory (loseless), yet upsampling sample rate to a non-integer multiple of original may trigger a process called SRC, for example 44.1Khz -> 192Khz, which might cause some minor accuracy problem, but it's still transparent to human ears.

Probably true, the fingerprint scanner is to close to the bottom, kinda of a stretch one handed, if it would have been put were the HTC logo is on the M8 would have been more comfortable and possibly squeezed the lower speaker. You can't have everything in life so you make due...lol

Still because of htc keep the boomsound setup. If you look closely at samsung s7, you will notice samsung hide their display circuit at the top, beneath the logo. But samsung's top speaker is a very very small one, meanwhile htc used 2 large speakers , top and bottom.
So basically htc had to move the fingerprint sensor a bit lower.

Sorry I just forgot to answer that while explaining. No, there's no switch. And I couldn't even confirm the 16->24 conversion exists, official site state that they used a 24-bit capable dac, but didn't mention anything about upscaling/upsampling. If you have the source please don't hesitate to tell me.
HTC Nexus 9 I believe. That device had dual front facing speakers and those were really thin and on the edge of the screen, so I think they could have done something. With the 10, a volume booster makes it sound better but still tinny on the tweeter.
If you really want to hear a good example, play the song "vengeful one" by Disturbed, the intro is the tinniest sound you'll ever hear on the tweeter.

Well, you can switch BoomSound on/off entirely, but who knows if that changes the bit depth.
Your question about the audio profiles was already answered, but here are some screenshots of the profiles I made and what their EQs look like. I used the "listen to frequencies" method for all of them.

We all know that HTC is heavily promoting the conference call feature with the big speaker on the back, but I haven't heard a single thing about the music quality.
So, a simple question to anyone who's been able to test out the TP2. How good is the speaker for listening to music?
Good question
I want to know too
Hope it has dual stereo speakers and not only one big on the back
Well, I thought I saw something like this in its launch video, and all it said about speakers is "Bi-Amped Dual Speaker phone". I think that means two speakers. The video is here if you'd like to interpret it for yourself. And maybe I'm just crazy, but I think I remember hearing that there is a dedicated woofer and tweeter on this device, so that could very well mean good audio quality. In addition, since HTC is advertising that conference calling feature so much, it seems that they would want good audio quality on it, otherwise it's just another speaker phone capable device. Just my thoughts anyway.

Judging from HTC's spec, "Noise-cancelling dual microphones and speakers", suggests more than 1 speaker. It ends with an 'S'. So 2 Speakers. 2 Speakers must be better than 1.
Guys, I am aware that the specs are better, but I'm wondering how that translates into real world performance. A speaker that's good enough for clear conference calls, isn't necessarily good enough for quality music playback
I can understand you completely. I think the only ones that can answer this is the ones that had the device for preview testings. Or you can wait until June, when it comes out.
For those that arnt aware, Bi-amped means the one speaker takes in two signals. Usualy one signal for the low frequences, and another for the mid's and highs. This results (due to genraly more power to the speaker) in cleaner/louder sound. But its also dependant on how much power is being put to it.
In theory, if these little speakers are in fact, bi-amped, they should sound alot better than if they were not, but this could also mean it sucks up more battery power.
I have to say that while my copy has been flawless, I can't say I like the HP output. It's at least two steps back from my old Samsung GNex. Volume is poor and simply the detail coming out of it, at least through my Audio-Technika IM70 IEMs, is also quite lacking. Not impressed at all.
Is anyone else thinking about returning/selling their phone due to poor HP output?
No ofcourse not there will be a tweak to make it sounds good

I've not experienced anything like that. Like you I love my music and I am very happy with the quality coming from the handset. Although I always use poweramp.
I like the audio from this device.
I was replying to one guy at reddit before. He was curios about the sound on the G4 compared to HTC One M7. Since I got both, and I do listen to music a lot, I wrote my impression.
"I switched from M7 to G4, and I was worried about the sound in headphones also. Even though I think they both perform really good, but I will give my M7 a slight edge here. I was listening to both right now, and it feels that G4 got more highs, bass is not as punchy as M7, and M7 sounds more tight. It's really hard to say which sounds better, matter of taste, but I find M7 as a better sound quality device, even though the sound is a bit dull comparing to G4. The volume levels are higher in M7, but the volumes G4 produces are more than enough for me.
Both devices were tested with stock players, without any EQ tweaks, Beats Audio turned off of course. Music genre: electronic. Earphones: Shure SE425."
But I won't return this device, only because I don't like the sound as much as I do on M7. G4 is superb phone in overall, and the sound is not bad at all, it's just different.
Versus my M7 it doesnt compare. But with that being said my M7 had an audiomod on it which revamped the output. There really isn't any phone(stock) that I could find that'll compare to it.
Am I going to return it? Nope. I'll wait for root and get another mod and call it a day
The headphone quality is indeed poor. Also on my unit, the device won’t even recognize the headphone input unless the jack is pressed at a certain angle. Tested with multiple pairs of headphones.
The headphone situation is my only negative mark for this phone. Everything else about it meets or exceeds expectations.

The headphones quality by all means isn't poor whatsoever. Tested and compared to iPhone 6,5, Samsung s6 n4 and 2014 edition tablet. Lg g4 by far is the very best. I'm a sound engineer and was blown away from the sound of this device. It's very well balanced with extension on the highs. The bass of course isn't as punchy but it's just right amount of bass extension so it doesn't overpower the mids. Yes volume output for hp isn't so great. Lg g2,3,4 is the one phone that has a DAC inside for sound quality and support natively 192/24bit audio

Sounds a lot better than my Nexus 6. I had to mess with the equalizer to get a decent sound that wasn't muffled/"warm" but not with the G4.
Using PowerAmp and ATH-M50x.
It also gets plenty loud for me. I've never had to turn the volume to max.
If it doesn't get loud enough for you, get some headphones/iems that isolate better, are within proper impedance range for a mobile device or get an amp or get your hearing checked.
I don't understand what you all mean when you say you apply an audio mod to make things sound better. What does this "mod" actually do? I am very skeptical because mods can only modify the software at that point, the hardware (which controls the quality) is what it is.
I sweat by Viper4Android. Its crazy all the things it can do. The convolver in particular has helped elevate the sound. Not being able to install it has been my biggest disappointment with the g4

Hello I am new to the forums.
I am very obsessed with good audio quality, this was the main reason why I got this new phone, but so far I have been very disappointed by its audio capabilities while listening with Bose Sound True earphones.
The first thing I did on my 10 was to download poweramp, configured my equalizer to a standard warm sound signature, then set bass to medium and sparkle to a little pass medium. Basically the same sound equalization I have on my m7. Next, I configured the headphone profile; in this case I end it up with the volume at the the lowest for all frequencies, as I was able to faintly hear all of them from the low to the highs at the lowest volume. Afterwards, I set up the dobly headphone effects to HTC ear buds.
I was very disappointed by the outcome, the low frequencies have a small distortion and the highs sound washed off. I no longer hear all the instruments playing as the lows drown more subtle instruments and the highs have very little clarity to them, they just sound loud and obnoxious. My m7 with Beats on picked up all the subtleties in my music and the lows had this pleasant fullness to them. The 10 is louder but that's about it, it now even hurts my ears when I listen past medium volume. How is this possible? Isn't the DAC on the 10 way better than that of the m7? Could this be faulty hardware? or could it be a software related issue?
Please help me figure out whats going on, I can't believe that my old phone sounds better. I almost feel like asking for a refund at this point. I have also tried using a plain sound player such as google music that has no EQ on it, but I can still pick a slight distortion, the m7 doesn't sound as loud in this case but it just sounds much cleaner.
PS. Just for reference all my tracks are 320kbs and I listen to mostly Metal.
Thanks for your help!
Try lossless flac, you'll probably find the DAC up converting 320mp3's hightlights the defects

Turn off BoomSound/beats if you're really obsessed with audio. They absolutely destroy the balance to the point of it sounding like I'm listening with a beats headphone.
The 10 drives my cans better than any phone or tablet that I have/had. I listen to EVERYTHING and it handles every genre perfectly.

Eh, I know many say that it is better to leave the EQ alone, but that is hard to do for me because 1) I most have 320 mp3s and very flew Flacs, some are even at 192k and 128k but thats because I have a very old and extensive library. 2) I do love warm sound signatures XD.
By the way, I am listening right now to Talos principle - Sanctuary in flac and at 0:25 when there are all those low frecuencies it just sound a little distorted, I would say it sounds abnormally loud on my 10, and it sounds clear on my m7. Check out The Talos Principle OST - Sanctuary on youtube for reference, I am prevented from posting outside links due to my newb status.
I use Bose true sound earphones, they are just mid-range phones nothing too special, but they do sound better with my old phone. Could it be this earphones can't handle the 10's frequencies?

Just had a listen to Sanctuary on Spotify and it sounds very impressive to me.
I'm using Shure 535 and everything sounds crystal clear to me.
There are two settings when headphones are plugged in under the boomsound setting. One is the Dolby headphone effects setting, the other is the custom profile you set up with your headphones. Try turning off the Dolby headphones effects. My HTC 10 can drive headphones like no other HTC product I have owned in the past, and it sounds better to me with the Dolby effects turned off.
Dunno man.... mine sounds freaking amazing.
using a custom EQ (set up with the frequency thing) and I'm just using a cheap set of Skull Candy headphones I use mostly for gaming
@isnoc I think that did away with the distortion! disabling the dobly effects has a positive impact on sound reproduction, the music doesn't sound as loud. However, the m7s bass sounds a little cleaner. It could be matter of sound signatures at this point. Where I really hear the difference is in the song Machine Gunn Eddie by Nitro. The m7 seems to sound slightly better due to the cleaner bass. I was expecting a night and day difference between these 2 phones =_(
Out of curiosity what mods are you running on the m7? When I had mine (still looking for where I left it...) I had zeroinfinity's and some extra buildprop changes and a kernel that supported the audio changes lol. I don't them side by side to test, but in my car and my porta-pro's from the sound I remember the 10 sounds a lot better to me.

You mentioned using beats on your M7. The beats eq exaggerates the bass which is probably what you're hearing. Have you tried turning it off and hearing the difference?

Ok I just noticed that my phone distorts at higher volumes, namely anything on medium high or above, no matter the bit rate of the song. This is where bass and highs start to suffer. My m7 plays music beautifully with 0 distortion at all levels. Does anyone else here suffer from distortion problems with the 10? Do I have a faulty phone?
@joeyrushlow I never bothered rooting or isntalling a custom rom on my m7, never saw the need for it. All I use for sound is the included beats audio dsp and poweramp and plays everything beautifully with distortion of any kind.
@richii0207 The m7 without beats audio does sound very flat, it is true that the main characteristic of Beats is enhancing the bass, but it also increase the volume across the spectrum in a more subtle way, in any case I get no distortion and everything sounds crystal clear.
I wonder, other than the EQ setup on the 10, and the potential of the quality of the DAC, there might not actually be a significant difference between DACs. Subtle definitely. Discernable for sure. But a significant difference that the 10 has over past phones is the amplifier driving the headphones. Could you be overdriving your headphones on the 10, and not on the M7? There are many things to consider that I do not have the skill to properly discuss like impedance for example. Or it could be a slight difference in your EQ settings.
I can say this, comparing my M9 to my 10. The sound is very very similar to my ears (disappointing I know right?) with two exceptions. One, the 10's sound is more expansive, or I should say there is more separation, so I know that with better recordings the 10 will sound better than my M9. Two, the 10 has more power at volume. I don't want to say louder, but it is louder, but clearer as well, as the volume goes up. It has more juice than my M9 does. I could dig out my M7, but I expect a similar experience. I like my 10. Perhaps you could listen to one in a store, a live demo one, to see if your phone has an issue.

Would it be a downgrade or an upgrade? Also,if anyone can compare it with the OP3(which is mediocre) ..that would be great.

I cant speak for a comparison to the OP3, but I've heard very good things about the headphone jack (if thats the kind of audio quality you're looking for) on the moto z play, and I have actually used it with my ATH-M50x headphones and it works very well. Headphone jack plays loud and clear with no background hissing. Speaker quality, I think its pretty good, its fairly loud and sounds pretty good. If you really want amazing audio quality you can use the jbl moto mod which will give you very good sound and be really loud (I own one and I love it).

Anyone having issues with music sound quality through the headphone jack should try making sure the equalizer in the stock google play music app is completely off, and then disabling the app in settings. After that reboot the phone. For me it was a night and day difference...

Like it's so bad I may return the thing. My ears are telling me that the sound is heavily compressed for some reason. The cymbals in every song sound all washy and weird like when you download a ****ty MP3 by mistake. The bass has no punch and the mids sound like your listening through a metal garbage can. For me personally it's near unlistenable but I enjoy good quality sound in my music and have a tough time listening when it doesn't sound the way it's supposed to. My LG G3 has better sound to a degree that's almost hard to imagine... I'm gonna keep running tests but I think it's the DAC in the phone itself. It just sucks. Like yeah it's loud. But that's all.

But I will say this even on YouTube the sound difference through the jack is crazy noticeable between this and the LG G3 I literally just tested it. Also what lind of music are you listening to? Because if it's dance or hip-hop or any kinda pop you're not gonna notice much of a difference.

So weird discovery? ... Rebooted the phone out of frustration but prior to rebooting I went into the google play music app disabled all the equalizer settings then disabled the app in settings. Upon reboot the sound quality seems better? Like a lot better? I have no idea why or how? But that seems to have done it. Also I did download Poweramp just for kicks and it's nice, I'll give it a shot for a while and see if it's worth buying.

I'm looking to buy a new phone. The audio quality is an important aspect for me..
Right now I have a Galaxy S6 which is OK. Not the best, not the worst.
Would it be a downgrade or an upgrade? Also,if anyone can compare it with the OP3(which is mediocre) ..that would be great.

So far the best smartphone I owned in the audio department was the HTC One M9, with its frontal dual speakers, as they were stereo, loud and clear, it always blew me away whenever I saw YouTube, Netflix or listened to music (without phones). Listening to music using the audio jack (or Bluetooth phones) it was an OK experience, nothing extraordinary, compared to the previous smartphones I owned (obviously with improvements phones have over the years).
As the HTC One M9 is last year's phone, I'd be logical to look into HTC One M10 (or better), as it should have better processing and screen configurations (and if HTC is smart enough, they kept or improved the already awesome frontal speakers).
The Moto Z Play has just one frontal speaker and (for me) is good enough, nothing compared to the HTC, but packs a decent punch if you want to see a video or listen to an audio, but to really listen to music or videos out loud, I'd advise you buying the JBL Mod, I personally do not own one but I've read good reviews about it, and you'd have a little more battery, I guess this Mod also comes with its own battery to power the speakers
Sorry not to compare with the OP3, but I don't have enough knowledge with this phone to have a relevant comparison.
Hope this helped! Cheers!

Some software glitch maybe.
I listen to metal and classical mostly, with a bit of jazz and blues. Opeth, Dt, Tool, The Aristocrats Yada Yada.

I only care about audio quality through the jack . How is that compared to your M9?

The HTC One M9 is better equalized, the bass in the Moto Z Play is more noticeable, but if you get a third party app that best equalizes the Moto Z Play it'll be just as great.
I haven't downloaded such app yet, but it shouldn't be hard to find. And use your own phones, the one that comes with the Moto Z Play sucks big time (at least for me).
I'd also be better for you to have more feedback from other users of the Moto Z Play, as audio is a very particular subject which varies from person to person.
I would like to add that the Z Play doesn't support every audio format out there. The hardware decoder is weak therefore I'd strongly recommend the "Neutron" music app which comes with its own software decoder. Or even the JetAudio or basically any app with a S/W decoder.

Anyone having issues with music sound quality through the headphone jack should try making sure the equalizer in the stock google play music app is completely off, and then disabling the app in settings. After that reboot the phone. For me it was a night and day difference...

Do I need to disable the Google Play Music app or Equalizer app?

ya agree , i am using z play rooted with viper4android installed. & it sounds Best with 3.5mm jack it can beat any device if configure proper
Quickly tested the audio quality of my new Z Play against my old Note 4 910C with Wolfson audio chip.
I use a pair of Ultimate Ears Triple FI 10. (IEM's which costed about 300€ some years ago.) Listened to some fast Punk songs.
I would not call me an Audiophile - I can't hear a difference between 320 KBit MP3 and Flac. But of course between 128 kBit and 320 kBit.
So I do care about good audio quality.
I could not notice a significant difference between the Note and the Moto. Even if there was one I wouldn't be able to tell which one was better. Different headphones or a heavily compressed audio file will for sure make way much more of a difference.
To be sure I ordered this external DAC: http://hifimediy.com/tiny-dac
It's an external Sabre DAC with improved Jitter and noise level at a very tiny size. Curious to see if I find a difference, but I don't expect very much.
I think the Moto as all recent phones delivers a very neutral and loud enough sound output at pones that don't need to much pwer.
its good but not the best
Coming from the V10, it's definitely a step down but not bad. For over-ear or on-ear portable headphones that are designed to be efficient,it's not bad at all. For sensitive IEMs, the signal isn't clean enough, you can hear a background hiss and interference from the cell radio, etc. And of course driving higher impedance headphones well like the V10 can do is out of the question.
how is the external speaker? I have seen some reviews that say its average.. I know I want to make sure its decent...
I understand it can't compete with dual front facing speakers... but how does it compare to other similar speaker setup phones? I am glad it is at least front facing!

Did today also a small comparison with the 180 $ Sony walkman of my GF: Could not find a difference.
With high impedance headphones the Hifimediy Android DAC http://hifimediy.com/tiny-dac did a very good job to me. Tested it with 600 Ohm AKG K 141 - was still loud enough. Didn't seem to influence my battery.
So I have no concerns any more using the Moto as my portable audio device.
The sound signature thro' headphone jack is better than average. However, please don't buy moto z play if you love listening to music at lower volume thro' headphone jack. The background static, crackling sound is much higher as the radio antenna band is located very close to it ( a white band over usb type c port). Better the headphone quality more prominent is the static. I tried multiple in-ear headphones ( shure se 125 , Sennheiser cx 275s). It is design flaw.
Is anyone else getting an audio crackle when tapping the mic icon for voice typing? I remember this was fixed through software on my Pixel 2xl years back. It basically pops, sounds like it's clipping. VERY annoying.
Great...
Google still can't provide proper speaker and mic since Nexus 4. How many years has it been now they been providing worst audio and mic performance?

Did a factory reset to see. The microphone in google own messaging app didn't seem to crackle, but through Textra it did.
No crackle for me even on max volume.
What I did notice is that the stereo speaks are imbalanced in terms of volume. The selfie camera side speaker sounds way more "muted" than the charger side speaker.

Agreed. MAYBE the volume levels are the same on both sides, but the selfie side definitely SOUNDS different. I also dislike the way notifications sound. It sounds like it's coming from the back of the phone going away from me, making it sound like it's coming from a different phone a couple feet away from me.

Audio balance has always been an issue with Pixel phones, although they made a change to the series 5 which boosted the ear piece one was called adpative sound, maybe it works as well for 6

I'm not entirely sure there are speakers there. I can't find a teardown video yet.

Have you actually got the phone? All I've seen you do is comment after comment about how rubbish it is but nothing from you directly?
If you hate it so much don't get one.
No crackle for me. I use the mic often and play podcasts through the speakers of the day. The speakers are good, clear and can get loud if ineed them to.
The popping/crackling sound is happening on my pixel 6 non-pro model. If sound is playing and I either type or move around to different screens this happens. Looks like I am returning it.
So far I've only noticed pixel 6 pro speakers crackling playing genshin impact, easily heard on the main menu, but so far only noticed it in that specific title. Not while playing music or other games. So I'm hoping it's software related and I don't have defective hardware.
No crackle so far, just rocken Music.

Can you do a video for us, showcasing when this happens exactly and what kind of noise gets created?
Too late, returned the phone and earbuds. Between this, the lousy fingerprint reader and the phone randomly calling people, I am done.

I dont get how people get so many issues with phones lol... I've never had problems with any of my phones and I've had many...
My FP works 100% of the time, it is just a bit slower than the rest, but even then, just barely. I have a S21 Ultra in front of me right now and after testing both, I can definitely say that the S21 Ultra is a bit faster, the Pixel one is actually more accurate. I would prefer to have it in the back like previous models.
Having said that, if I did have those issues you described I would return it too.
I feel like it's a software thing, honestly. Because when i first setup myh device before I downloaded all the updates, there wasn't any audtio crackle at high/max volume. After I downloaded the updates, it's there slightly.
I don't have crackling or distortion, but I'm getting a good deal of sibilance from both speakers. Here is a definition of sibilance.
Sibilance
I listen to a lot of YouTube podcasts and videos and this is driving me crazy. I wanted to see if anyone else is having this problem before I see about returning the phone. Adaptive sound and balance control makes no difference.
I have a 6 Pro and have noticed crackling from bottom speaker since purchase when turning speaker on during phone calls. For me I otherwise really like the phone. I will be doing a repair or exchange once more phones become available.
I got my replacement brand new 6 pro, and now this one has distorted and crackling sound from the earpiece speaker. When i press the middle part of the screen anywhere.
I have turned off the adaptive audio, and I can hear the balance over blutooth changing. With one headset when listening to a mono podcast, you can hear the audio balance shifting randomly around.
With another bluetooth headset (my hearing aids), the balance starts out biased to the right, but the longer you listen the more it drifts to the left. Stopping and starting the audio stream immediately corrects it.
What is going on -- I have had every OnePlus Pro model since the 6, never had any issue like this.
Anyone have anything similar and or no how to fix? It is so annoying....
