Hi,
I have a Pumpkin Quad Core RK3188 1024x600 unit http://www.autopumpkin.com/car-dvd-players/android-dvd-player/android-car-dvd-with-dab-function/pumpkin-universal-7-inch1024-600-touchscreen-quad-core-android-4-4-double-din-car-stereo-gps-navigation-system-support-3g-wifi-obd2.html, on the seller website it says that it can play music and show lyrics simultaneously but I can't make it work.
I tried both with the unit connected to internet and offline, tried with mp3 with lyrics in mp3tag etc... How does this work?
Anyone here was able to let it work?
I've tried both with stock firmware and Malaysk one,
Thank you

up! no one knows how to show songs lyrics?
i dont have one yet, so I dont know either. But, I did watch a bunch of YouTube videos of Android Head Units, and there is one from the Pumpkin channel by Peter Chan showing off the 10.1 inch Pumpkin unit, and when he plays Adele on the music player, it shows the lyrics on the screen in both English and what I assume is Chinese. Maybe try emailing Pumpkins support?

I just bought a micro hdmi cable for my arc, I connected the two things together and I almost shot myself in the head -> there are no subtitles shown on the TV but you can see them on the phone's display!
Anyone tried any other player which does show them on TV, or will I have to hard-burn subtitles into the movie?
I tried this with moboplayer.
Thanks
Why do you want to read the movie?

Sorry to hijack your thread as this has nothing to do with your question but did you get it showing full screen on your TV?

erm im using vplayer, but its a paid apps n havent tried it yet on hdmi..
If my native language was english, then I wouldnt mind about subtitles.
The movie was showing full screen, yes.
have you try another player? which movie format you'r trying to play?
I tried Moboplayer, Rockplayer, Vitalplayer, all of them display subtitles on the phone, but not on the TV.
I only tried an mp4 file so far. Will try out further with different files.
I tried xvid avi file with external subtitles (in moboplayer) and the phone was showing them on the TV screen!
It seems it is not showing them (external subtitles) if the video is mp4.
Vote for bugfix.
Same issue across all players on Asus TF700T / ICS and H/W decoding.
Vote(star) here to get OHAP's attention: code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=32564
I use a TF700T, and I went into developer's options and disabled hardware overlays, then my screen basically mirrored to my tv, it works that way but I've been told to not keep it disabled, so once you are done watching, enable it again. Hope this helps.
Dice player, I just tried it with a .mkv file and subtitles appear on the TV.
Even though in the settings it says it'll only work for some Samsung devices.
Sooo..it's nice and all that my phone can play MKVs with their internal subtitles at full speed.
It's also nice I can output my phone via HDMI to my TV, even with said MKVs.
What's not so nice is the subtitles remain on the phone screen only, regardless of video player used.
Is there/is it even possible to output the video and subtitles via HDMI? Curious. Less hassle to connect my phone to my TV than my bulky notebook.
the subtitles need to be on a separate file with the same file name as the video file i.e:
video.mkv
Video.srt
There can be only one subtitles file. if more than one, the player will show none.
Btw there many threats on this subject.
Try searching for "subtitles" on the S2 forum here.

I said internal MKV subtitles for a reason. Not gonna extract the subtitles every time I wanna watch something.
That being said, I missed that topic. Thanks for the link.
Shame it seems the only player that can output the subtitles to MHL, doesn't read internal subs -stock player- and the couple others that do apparently only do with software decoding. Which I'll assume won't really have the grunt behind it to play them properly.
My videos in stock player play fine, but I get this error message "unsupported audio codec" - and I have no sound.
They play ok in Galaxy Note 2, and everywhere else. Tried MX player, same thing. Video is ok but with no sound.
Any solution to this?

Your video probably comes with DTS stream that cannot be decoded. Google MX player DTS you wull find the proper codec.
If you are using Mx player you need to check off the audio codec in the settings. I would keep it that way forever.

I actually loved the stock samsung player on th gn10.1 2012. it played everything. the first vid I tried to play on this one and it won't play ac3 audio. so I've started using archos and the old bs player again.
Bsplayer got hit with ac3 problem when dolby demanded royalty fees, maybe samsung did to?
+1 for mxplayer
Speaking of players, can this thing play 4K videos?

me too, weird why Samsung changed this. One of my main reason to buy this tablet - put anything on SD card and play without converting with Hand Brake etc...

I believe it was due to legal issues.

for a $600 there shouldn't be any legal issues. pay the royalty and be done with it.

I bet from a business standpoint, the amount the royalties cost per a device wouldn't have been worth it compared to the actual amount of people that would really take advantage of it. But yes, it would be cool to have had it out of the box. But I believe it works fine with MX Player from my testing, and it really wasn't that hard to get MX Player.
I had the same issue with unsupported audio codec, solved with VLC player.
I've paid. for just about every player, mobo, dice, bs.. right now my favorite is archos. it's a mix of mizuu and bs. I havent had a single video that it couldnt play yet.
Are those your recommended players to watch most content? I really want to buy one but in the past have ran into audio issues.

I like archos because it can download movie info, tv series info, and play about everything. I use he archos free codecs and everything plays fine. I've always liked archos media player from when I used to have the archos 101.
I know you can use other media players, but the point of using stock player is that it plays videos with the help of hardware, thus less battery consumption, versus if you use software decoding by other apps. Or at least It was like that on Nexus 10.
Has anyone tried to contact Samsung about this? My old galaxy 7.7has ac3 support.

the other media player can use hardware decoding if available. archos does ac3 fine with hardware decoding. i'd supposed the old bs player will to but i've not used it yet.
but it was nice having a great player that played everything built into the system.

If you download MX Player's NeoN-driver (you'll find the download link to the .zip in the settings), you can use HW+ for video and audio (DTS supported). Using this you are in audio/video heaven with the new Note 10.1. You can even play 2 full HD movies, one with MX Player and one with the built-in player (in pop-up mode) at the same time without any hickup. And if you so desire, open up an internet or file browser while you are at it - screen area allowing.
I see so much talk of lag and other supposed deficiencies here, while so far I have been in honeymoon state for 8 days solid.

Yes with mx player
Hi,
any hint for a good media player that accepts most formats incl. MKV? Something like VLC.
Thanks

Not free, but http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/e...a-player/8441f98d-c8e7-4ee1-9c1a-6f08f46e51f3
VLC is also coming, you know... already available in the store on x86, they're working on the ARM port as well.
No idea when it'll get here, though. Could be tomorrow, could be in six months. Probably somewhere between those.

Hi
Files&Folders New works for me.
Hope for you too
All of the videos apps I've tried result in poor audio-video sync. The video seems to trail behind the audio by a few tenths of a second. It's quite distracting.
This isn't just MKVs- most of my videos are mp4 anyway, since I also want to play them to other devices that lack MKV support.
Hi folks
certain mp4 and mkv videos won't play on my tab a 10.5
tried everY player going
same files work fine on my HTC one m8 running gpe lollipop
still on kitkat
no sign of over the air lollipop or via kies either
any suggestions?
Cheers

You need Mxplayer and then install the Arm v7-Neon codec from the link below.

No joy same can't play this video message
what error do you get?, if your video has AC3 or DTS audio you will get video but no sound.
John.
Link me to what you are trying to play and I will test it.
If it's of questionable content you'd better pm it.

Have you tried doing a tablet restore/reset to the day you bought the tablet as maybe something you have installed is giving you problems, if you have rooted your tablet and some system files have been lost a reset might not fix the problem.
