Suggested retail price HOMTOM HT17 is to be fixed to $ 69.99 .
All buttons are move to the right side of the screen.
I really love the design. We'll see about the rest!
Not for US market...
I got one of these for $65, and it will not connect to ATT or Tmobile here in Kokomo, Ind 46902.
Although it will show 3g and 4g networks for both available in "Network Operators".
not sure what is goinng on.
Better than average Wifi receiption, Marshmallo, a fingerprint sensor, and a Sony Camera, so maybe it is not a total loss.
Will not recognize a 128gb SD card also.
I am watching Needrom.com for an update, and will email Homtom directly
Will keep this up to date.
bye.

Dear mrd.macdonald.
I'm regrettable.
TWRP of a recovery image didn't operate.
Scatter couldn't be loaded.
I used SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1632_Win.
I'm wishing that new TWRP is made.
I'm pleasant.

Check your MTK vcom driver and sp-flash-tool config again.
R07 OTA for HT17 is out, still hope someone can port CM13 or any AOSP ROM to HT17.

Hello.
Just tried your beta2 version.
Flash ok, but can't boot in TWRP. I only can see the small android robot with the red exclamation mark...
Thanks anyway. I can test other versions if necessary.
Regards.
I have the Ht17 not pro.
I would like to root the device and for the reason is to make my SD card like part of the RAM as it struggles and hangs with large applications.
I've seen posts on how to root but even under the same post people have lost their IMEI info. I would obviously like to avoid that, if so How and how can I back up the device info without root? Like IMEI.
When picking the scatter file into the flash tool, it has loads of tick boxes like bootloader and logo? So do I keep everything ticked? So how does this actually root the phone and what do I actually need to do as I've had a Samsung before and it seemed to be easier. Sorry to be a noob but I am. Lol

Load scatter file of TWRP, uncheck all boxes except Recovery.. and most important set option to just "Download Only" in flash tool. then hit "Download" , then connect your powered off phone. Before all that transfer SuperSU zip to phone so you can flash it right away from TWRP.
EDIT: Before all that i recommend updating Firmware to R07, since they increased CPU clock speed to 1.25GHz and phone feels faster.

Thank you for your help but I can't even seem to find SD card through windows 10 as it just comes with Ht17 on , so I best bet is to download it straight from phone? but I will delve into that to get that working.
Regarding TWRP? If I press the VOL up + power I get the andriod with a red ! and no options? With the scatter file and download option is that what is trying to install is the TWRP file?
Regarding RO7- it does feel a lot faster and now I can transfer apps to SD card and I wonder if they have fixed the GPS problem.
But with the extra speed it would give the phone extra breathing space if I could use the SD Card and partition the card and use it for ram and it might just see an increase of performance and help the phone out abit. Lol. Which after I brought it I didn't known they had the pro version. So want to give rooting a go on it and try the sd card and see if theres any difference.
Many thanks to everyone for there help!

Got Flash tool loaded up..
Download Only
Scatter File kept coming up with "Error: Initaializing scatter file failed: please check the name of the scatter file which you load is legal". with that i downloaded the ROM version and just unticked everything EXCEPT Recovery.img, ( so far have i done everything correct, tho i cant seem to get the MT6737M scatter file from TWRP to load, just thinking hence probably why i couldnt get into recovery mode (VOL+&PWR) )
So i followed these lines from Jan177 from another post.
Load the Homtom HT17 scatter file.
Remove the battery from HT17.
Press download only.
Connect HT17 through USB.
And insert the battery.
After completing flashing. close SPFlash Tool. ( TOOL SAID COMPLETE 100%)
Disconnect Ht17
RestartHT17 into recovery
Press Power + Volume UP
GOT to this part and nothing came up except and sidewards Andriod with a red ! and no Menu, is this due coz of the File that was trying to download to phone,
If so How do i get the TWRP file to work correctly?? or is there a way around this or am i doing something wrong?
then i guess should be the ending part?
Flash supersu 2.76
Restart into system
enjoy
ROM 06
sorry to be a pain, im a person to dot the I's and cross the T's, lol
Much i so appreacate all the help!!!

Try just simple phone reboot, SuperSU should update binary automatically. If not try flashing it again SuperSU 2.78.

-----[Stop here for the hour, I will tell you guys how to apply update.zip after a break]-----
[Background and Scenario]
*For who with Code Corrupt. / Bootloader stuck / M logo stuck
Dear all, lately I got my XT610 bricked.
Reason:
Originally I was on 4.6.8 (newest rom). I was then doing the worst thing on earth,
I SBF-ed the whole thing with a 2.26 sbf with RSD-Lite (as how we flash sbf as usual)
Night mare:
1. PC: RSD of every version would not recognise my phone. Driver of every version neither work.
Linux: some people may have heard of sbf_flash under linux. Flashing was ok under linux. Hoever the phone just still wont boot.
2. My phone starts with Bootloader code corruption. Nothing works, RSD wont work. As mentioned, I tried with Linux sbf_flash command (google around what is sbf_flash, plenty of tutorial/explanation around)=], the flashing process was fine but the phone just stuck in M logo for minutes, then bootloader appears again with error code. "ERR :00 1d 00 00 xx" (something like this)
No matter how much times I tried to sbf_flash back the 4.6.8 sbf file, no luck. I was around the edge of collasp and ready to go psycho. I have been double-wiping data and cache for thousands of times....
[What makes it working again?]
I was wondering, as long as Stock recovery is still working (Pressing R+M key), I was going to try out the last "meaningless thing".
I copied the update.zip (the file used to update from 3.87 to 4.6.8 with SD card), I installed this file again by recovery (install update.zip something like this)
In theory, this file should only deal with system part, not the booting part. However I was thinking, bootload is locked, there should be no problem with it.
Recovery works, seems the rom is intact.
M logo changes from white to Red after sbf_flash, means booting was partially done. Only problem left should be the OS. (think in PC way, Bios is intact, Windows is dead)
I was holding my breath, watching the update.zip going. When it comes to update BP complete, I was almost sure the thingie's gonna work again, since RSD showed "Flash BP fail" before, and likely being recovered by this update. Some lines after, there was an error from reading. I ignored it, double-wiped again and restart.
I left my phone on the desk for some seconds. Suddenly, the most unpleasant scream on earth "DROOOOID~" suddenly yells in the air. The most unpleasant scream suddenly becomes the most joyful yell on earth!
[Happy-ending, hurray]
The remaining would be the same as you did before.
Root, install apps, enjoy.
[Conclusion]
1. Linux-environment, sbf_flash the 4.6.8 sbf which you used for RSD/SDL in Windows. (for those commands , try googling. If You still have no idea, drop me a line, I will post that up)
2. Bootlap after Linux flash, , got ERR code in Bootloader after M logo. dont worry.
3. Hold R+M+Power, reboot into recovery.
Do a double wipe.
4. copy update.zip to SD card, install the update.zip.
once the process pass through Update BP complete, ignore any error code there after.
5. Double Wipe again, reboot
6. "DROOOOID~", Root, and have you facebook on!.

Some ppl said yes, some ppl said not. Im not sure for RSD, since its kinda crap sometimes, as it often fail to detect your phone.
Cant detect = cant flash your phone.
[Mine Suggestion]
1. Download "Knoppix", a Linux build boot on CD (No installation needed) and runs on ram
2. Open terminal, use SBF_FLASH to flash the stock verizon SBF back to the phone. (I dont have the command with me now in office. I upload them once back in home.
3. Connect USB. (No detection needed. 100% successful)
4. You will see the red M logo boot back. (But some chances for stuck there and ERR code afterwards)
5. Apply update.zip as abovesaid (If needed, I will upload that too tonite)
6. Double Wipe. and There you go.
*Should work anyway, even if you have flashed the sbf from any martian devices (joke) beforehand.
Since Bootloader is locked, Moto should be unbrickable. Your stock Verizon sbf will recover anything at long as you still see Bootloader (Code corrupt counts)
how to do please step one and two above:
1. Download "Knoppix", a Linux build boot on CD (No installation needed) and runs on ram
2. Open terminal, use SBF_FLASH to flash the stock verizon SBF back to the phone. (I dont have the command with me now in office. I upload them once back in home.

1. Google for "Knoppix", you should get an ISO image around 700mb. (No specific version needed. Any)
Burn this to a blank CD/DVD, let it handful on your desk first. You will use this CD to boot your PC into Linux environment when every tool is ready.
*Relax, this would only run on RAM and CD, nothing will be installed on your PC. Your Windows and everything gonna be fine.
2A. Download SBF_FLASH from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775913
-extract the Zip, make it convenient, store it in your C:\SBF
When you later boot into linux on your PC with the abovesaid Knoppix CD,
you gonna execute a program built-in Linux, that is the Terminal. (something look like DOS)
2B. Have your 4.6.8 SBF file ready in the abovesaid C:\SBF folder of PC.(you can get it in an other thread in this Droip Pro forum)
- rename the SBF file to a short name for convenience, say 468.sbf from now on in this post.
-
2C. Execute the Terminal program in Linux.
-execute the following commands. One line means one single command. Dont miss out spacebars or "DOTS"
- command lines below, when ever you see <<< ENTER#xxxxxx, that means press enter and behind these are descriptions for your reference, DONT COPY
---------------Command starts below. dont copy this line-------------
su
cd sda1\SBF <<<ENTER #Or the location where you stored SBF folder in C. (sda* means Disk number in Linux, there is nothing known as C:\ D:\)
chmod +x sbf_flash <<< ENTER # dont miss out the spacebars, dont miss out underscroll
./sbf_flash 468.sbf <<<ENTER #dont miss out the . at the beginning.
---------------Command Stops here. dont copy this line--------------
2D. Connect your phone to usb and your phone(At Code Corrupt screen), let it run.
*Sorry for the bad English, I am not native.
Tonite I will try to upload screenshots for illustration if possible.

I have never tacked with this ERR code,
But I did some research online, this code should be solved by SBF reflash
Try to reflash sbfs of every versions starting from 2.26 / 3.87 till 4.68.
*Make sure that u remove your battery, press hold R+M and insert battery then with Power (Three buttons) until M logo is gone.
As long as I saw your bootloader is still 03.A0,
Bootloader should be intact from the wrong version rom flashed, since South American/European Bootloader is not 3.A while 3.A is Verizon phone.
Keep on trying, dont be so pissed (pad), I had been trying with mine code corrupted phone for four days day to night until it works again. Your phone is just Undead Zombie LOL

Not likely then. I suspect the recent 4.7.3 is the last "mercy" from Moto for our oldie.
It would be too great if ICS comes, but I dont think it is possible.
In my european pro I've done (with 2.26.20 sbf) (I've locked with 2.3.3 locked sbf...)
Only In a terminal emulator i've added sudo " sudo ./sbf_flash ***.sbf" ...
Thank you
i try every thing nothing will work unless we have flash for usa version mobile 2.3.6

Any chance anybody still has a copy of this update file?
For whatever reasons (improper rooting/flashing, power outage during updating, freezing/removal of LG bloatwares or simple bad luck etc), if you bricked your Optimus G and is stuck with a Security Error or in a bootloop, fear not, as long as you can put it into Download and Recovery Mode, all is not lost.
I got the korean version of the (almost) Optimus G (Optimus LTE2, f160k) and ran into the same security error problem that happened out of the blue.
The steps that I undertook below resolved the problem for me and has been proven to work on Optimus G by fellow members.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34516791&postcount=29
1) Download the latest KDZ from LG's server for your phone via the app below (kudos to the creator)
http://www.mediafire.com/?cgeb6o5osy2yl9c
2) Make sure you have LG United Drivers already installed, otherwise download from below
http://www.mediafire.com/?82nt1aeh04aqa3m
3) Download LG KDZ Updater
http://www.mediafire.com/?sj5y073xal03ntw
4) Download the manual adb wipe batch file
http://www.mediafire.com/?ru7erfxsz7p7s3p
5) Put your Optimus G into Download Mode by switching it off, attaching the usb cable to the phone, holding both the up and down volume buttons at the same time and lastly inserting the usb cable into the computer; wait for the drivers to finish loading if doing it for the first time.
6) Unzip the downloaded updater zip file and run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe. Use the settings below
Type: 3GQCT
Phone Mode: CS_Emergency
KDZ file: navigate to the folder which you have saved the downloaded KDZ from the step (1)
Click Launch Software Update and wait for the flash process to finish
7) Your phone will restart itself when IParam = 90 is displayed and proceed slower until you see IParam=1 again (which signals the end of flash, you can safely exit the program then and remove the cable from the phone). If phone boots up normally, congrats, skip the steps below and proceed to use the phone as per normal.
However, this most probably will not be the case for newer Optimus-es, as the data partition somehow wasn't wiped even when KDZ-ed, remaining 'dirty', thus causing bootloop or security infringement.
8) If the phone is stuck at the booting up LG/Telco logo, you will need to manually wipe the data partition.
9) Force the phone off by holding the power button for appx 15secs.
10) Put the phone into recovery mode by holding the volume up and home button concurrently, then press the power button. Let go of all the buttons after you see the LG logo on screen for the 2nd time and the screen goes blank thereafter (backlight may still be on). The phone will kind of reboot and then enters recovery mode. Repeat the process if you did not get it the first time.
11) With the phone in Recovery Mode, connect it to the computer, wait for the drivers to load (if doing it for the first time), unzip the wipe batch file downloaded earlier from step (4), double click on wipe.bat to execute the wipe command.
12) Your phone will auto reboot when wiped and (hopefully) boot as per normal.
Hope with this simple guide fellow members will feel safer when rooting or removing non essential LG wares from their Optimus G.
Tried this, however the phone get stuck on a bootloop. It's stuck on bootanimation. I also tried to clear data with the adb wipe files but i end up with a phone stuck on that

Bell E973
I have E973 from Bell and it's been bricked since sunday after renaming couple of system apps.
I am trying to follow the instruction above but i can't download KDZ file with LG firmware downloader bc it just would not take my SN.
Error msg is "unsuccessful in connecting to server orphone infomations is wrong!"
Could anyone upload KDZ file for Bell E973 somewhere on the net that i can download?
It would be much appreciated..

Go here, replacing <yourimei> with your actual imei (just numbers, nothing else), it'll spit out a bunch of text including an address with the kdz.

Thanks thracky for quick response.

Don't include the <> characters with your imei, I just put those there to mark where the IMEI goes
Also, your IMEI should be 15 digits, and I've only used this on my computer, so I'm not sure if it works on mobile browser or not, and if that's how you're trying it.

2nd thracky's view.
would recommend u do it on the PC, use the app, enter your model E973, enter your imei (15 digits, usually means omitting the the last 0 or digit), shd be able to download your KDZ.

did u wipe in recovery mode?
can you put your phone into download mode again?
if yes, try the whole process again?
as long as your phone can still enter download mode, all is not lost, even if this method does not work,
good luck!

He couldn't get into recovery at all, that image he posted was what happened going into recovery.
I think he mangled his partition table, and I feel like KDZ wouldn't necessarily repartition everything based on my experience with tools for other phones like Odin for Samsung phones, where you explicitly have to tell it to repartition and give it a file to dictate the layout.

learned something new, thanks
KDZ-ing of LG's phones of late seem to be not as 'thorough' as previous, it used to be the be all and end all; or maybe i didnt mangle my phone bad enough
has he tried upgrading via LG's update tool instead?
he may need to KDZ an older version first (if available) so LG tool can sense an upgrade is necessary, and hopefully, it is intelligent enough to repartition if one is necessary.
also, LG's update tool has in-built recovery/repair option, not sure how that works though, worth to explore?

Question, on the Sprint version of this phone, would the type be CDMA?
Also, do you think anything else would be different?
*edit* Also, when I try to download the KDZ file, it is instead a .CAB file that has an .wdb, .wdh, and a .dll file inside.
Am I supposed to rename it? convert it?
Thanks!
I can not get it to download the KDZ file either. Is there anyway to post a link for a direct download?

This should not be used for the Sprint or AT&T variants, please see instructions for restoring with LGNPST in the respective forums as we have .tot files for both AT&T and Sprint.

Thank you. I have seen that but I do not know how to flash the TOT file. I have downloaded that, but do not know how to flash it.
I wouldn't work for me until I added 1 more step
First of all, thanks again to the poster and xda in general...y'all freakin rule.
I couldn't get this to work for the longest time, though I knew that these valuable instructions were the key to fixing my device.
The difference between total failure and absolute success for me was making sure to run "msxml.msi" in the KDZ updater before running "KDZ_FW_UPD.exe"
If you're stuck, try that!!!
Thanks once again for helping me fix my device!
Hi There..
Thanks to topjohnwu, Digitalhigh, and Dvdandroid, and all magisk contributors.

Starting this thread for i've found no viable method for rooting, custom ROMs, etc. for the 2017 european model of K10 ( which actually is supplied carrier unlocked in my country with ROM version LGM250AT-00-V12q-COM-DEC-18-2017+0 at this moment, )
First of all, there is *no way* to get into bootloader mode, by ADB or key combo at startup, tried everything suggested on forums , docs pages, whatnot. To be honest, the Internet is full of crap, there should be some censoring, or whoever isn't really fit to publish information or methods they don't master, simply refrain themselves from doing so.
What i have: actually managed to capture the original ROM file, M250n10n_00_OPEN_EU_OP_1218.kdz from the LG Updater tool , can be downloaded from below link. 7zipped for minimal size and password protected the archive, the password is 12345678, for just in case
h.t.t.p.s:././ drive.google.com/file/d/1_uYKC1ecAOvhqyqSr3h2-XSTWvZfHOWn/view?usp=sharing
Apparently, the .kdz file can be successfully unpacked with WindowsLGFirmwareExtract-1.2.6.1 , the boot image extracted from the .dz file, etc. At this point, my knowledge on this is exhausted , haven't done any phone hacking in the last 10 years, last and only time was an Alcatel OTC 960 (i think), with Android 2, don't remember squat now. Don't exactly have time for research and tinkering too much either, i'd rather pass over to someone with more up to date knowledge and experience.
The phone hardware is quite powerful for it's price class, 8 core CPU of which the high perf cluster (4 cores) runs on 1.5 GHz, the low power cluster on 1 GHz, 2 GB DDR2 RAM @667 MHz, 16 GB flash , a decent GPU , generic connectivity options, sd card support, overall a good phone for day by day use.
Full of bloatware though, dire need of rooting, cleanup and some advanced tweaking possibility ( which obviously requires rooting).
Booting into native recovery mode
.. it does work, to some extent. Method:
- connect to ADB make sure all debug stuff, oem unlock etc. is set
- issue command 'adb reboot recovery' command, phone will reboot into recovery mode, with a burnt out android dummy on screen
- press Power + Volume UP simultaneously for a second, the recovery menu will show up
The recovery menu offers a fair few options: reboot to bootloader, format, install update from fota partition or sdcard, mount /system or normal reboot. The reboot to bootloader option doesn't work, it will force a normal reboot. Interesting the manufacturer left this option at all, while non functional. or better, there must be some hidden option to be set which will actually unlock the bootloader, but it's definitely not the "enable OEM unlock" from the developer menu nor from the r&d diagnostic hidden menu.
The option to install an update in recovery mode, from sd card sounds promising though. I wonder if somebody has any experience with that, if so, please share it here.

then, how can we wipe recovery partition?
we're going in circles. no root, no wipe. but for root, need unlocked bootloader. and the default bootloader doesn't allow fastboot/rooting, etc. so it's a stall. please guys, if you have any ***working*** method, post only that.
So far, i have a working method to downgrade the firmware:
- install LG UP
- extract the "LGUP_c.dll" file from the firmware using WindowsLGFirmwareExtract-1.2.6.1-Release
- download and run Uppercut, it likely will detect the phone, keep it open then go to the LG UP installation directory c:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\ , duplicate the "common" folder ( or it'll vanish when Uppercut is closed)
- close Uppercut, it's useless, rename back the duplicate "common" folder, place the extracted "LGUPc.dll", rename it literally to "LGUP_common.dll" ; obviously, will need to delete the one from teh folder, that's garbage by Uppercut. Keep "WPDAPI.exe", it's needed.
- run LG UP , choose the .kdz file, both Upgrade and FOTA Upgrade work ( this last one flashes the /fota partition). Refurbish doesn't work, and no idea what it does, so far
- let LG UP do it's thing, at 100% upload , the phone will restart, then a white background shows with the upgrading message, etc. and a progress bar , the phone will either restart at 97 % of the progress bar, or go directly into normal OS load, then within the OS will see the upgrading continues for a few seconds, etc. It depends on the firmware version.
And here comes my problem. None of the available firmwares have the bootloader unlockable. The oldest, M250n10g_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0420.kdz is still from April, dated 3 months after the original release.
We need some of the very first firmwares, if indeed the claim by pvineeth97 is true that he could root it and install TWRP recovery. To be honest, the guy seems to be a hack, probably copy - pasted the method from the older K10 model, and he actually has no proof for having a working method for the 2017 model. Also, doesn't answer to private messages, so that's that... I saw a lot of "methods" by googling, everybody just adds the M250N model to the list, claims rooting works, etc. IT IS NOT TRUE, these are all false claims, just some idiots looking for cheap popularity, taking credit for some other peoples' work, and so on...
I can put the tools onto my gdrive and share the link, if someone else wants to try, but so far, we're short on a proper firmware image.
Try using the scatter file for MT6750.

You are true, @adacsaba but try the scatter file method unique to MTK. I hope that works.

Full of bloatware though, dire need of rooting, cleanup and some advanced tweaking possibility ( which obviously requires rooting).

we're going in circles. no root, no wipe. but for root, need unlocked bootloader. and the default bootloader doesn't allow fastboot/rooting, etc. so it's a stall. please guys, if you have any ***working*** method, post only that.

No friend, By what I read here in the forum, it is not necessary to unlock the bootloader in this template
Someone checked this secret menu * # 546368 # * 250 #? has several options that I did not check for lack of experience anyone any solution to open the fastboot or unlock the bootloader

Hello! How did you do it? could you explain? It would be good since you can not even root this team, because at least remove the bloatware from the system, recovering the space of the applications that still exist in the private folder on the same system.
I have a LG Tribute Empire (LM-X220PM). It is also based on the MTK 6750, my device seems to be on running 32-Bit instead of 64-Bit though.
I cannot enter fastboot mode either. I have all of these problems as mentioned in the OP. I was going to start a thread until I saw this. Does deleting the recovery partition really allow the device to boot into fastboot mode?
Because I was about to start looking into lglaf, the advanced flash functions might be a solid connect on a mediatek system. Because Mediatek Devices are normally unlockable. I just need to find my own device's firmware so I can look at the system and ramdisk. Everything about the phone screams there can be root. Maybe a system root though. I need to find the Dev Patched LG UP though to flash partitions. And read how to give LG Advanced Flash commands.

Nope. You can wipe it but then it boots to the system which rebuilds recovery from the boot.
I have though about wiping the boot too, to see how it reacts, but there might be some catch.
Also the lgup hasn't been always so steady recognizing my device, m250n.
Also the LG's Bridge has sometimes recognized it to some totally different device.
Odd, but so far I've used it through virtualbox, which might have something do with it.

Sounds like I need to figure out how to customize the flasher to my device then is all. LGUP 1.4 didn't recognize my device at all.

You might need to use your devices own dll which is inside the kdz file.

I've seen that a lot of LG information is spread around. I normally have Samsung Devices I work with. So the whole flashing process is different. Different Tools, different build types.
Really I'm still trying to wrap my around the LG process. There seems to be many different ways to do things but are kind of device specific. I've only just recently learned about the patched LGUP but I can't find my firmware anywhere to get started with it and get it patched. So I'll look around to hopefully find a KDZ somewhere for the x220pm.
lol I feel like a newb again just because I switched OEM's.

Fenris Features
Built in current MicroG
Built in Magisk
Built in BusyBox
Built in GNU Utils compiled for android ( bash etc )
Radically debloated
Built for Lucky Patcher ( lvm already patched and modded playstore in place )
Working Desktop Mode ( PC mode ), Yes you read that right
320 DPI and working camera UI etc.
Better sized Launcher icons.
Shipped as a old school zip so fully customisable by anyone with winrar
Bugs
Wallpapers etc missing ( belongs to an apk i deleted and cant be bothered to track it down ) fixed in beta 2
Standard filemanager is replaced by CM native file manager ( dont want the big H knowing whats on your drive ) so some share functions may not be available
but SMB over the network is fine and thats all im interested in.
Both the TWRP 's are flaky, this version https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-view-10/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3769917 has just refused to boot on me twice despite a decrypted data partition. But thats not down to Fenris in any way. The second twrp ( view 10 ) is no longer possible. It requires formating /data and by doing that wipes all the themes/wallpapers and screws the theming engine so i am having to stick with the first TWRP.
Unfortunately it BARELY works, just good enough to flash Fenris and associated zip kind of correctly.
Because of a crap TWRP Magisk needs to be setup on first use and download the manager, ie internet needed. It also can not update its zip so that has to be flashed by hand
Battery.... Tablet manager had to go, it deliberately interferes with LP in-app spoofing, but it also provides battery statistics and possibly with it missing, battery life could be worse than stock
( memory handling could also be compromised ). Its a damn hard thing to check since i have never run the tab stock. Tablet manager is back, it controls the recents screen which is broken without one of tablet managers services. Writing a startup script to disable some TM services, but at moment i use MyAndroidTools to do same
Maybe more, this is a beta.
Dev Info.
Huawei have done a good job with their Andfroid shell, its very memory aware and frugal ( unlike samsung and HTC ), its a very good base for Fenris
I would have kept a lot more native apk's but then there are some security concerns so anything with a free line out had to go ( except HwShare, use at your own risk )
If there is demand i will release a total stock zip so peeps can mix-match and roll their own.
Information
Based on MediaPad M5 8.4 SHT-AL09 hw eu Schubert-AL09A 8.0.0.196(C432) Firmware 8.0.0 r1 EMUI8.0 05014XYF.
the link for this firmware https://androidhost.ru/tuA
You must be on this firmware to grantee Fenris operating correctly ( currently Fenris does not ship the vendor or kernel due to issues with the TWRP available being flaky )
, fenris may work on other firmware ( Android O ) but this is for you to try.
I will most prob keep Fenris SHT-AL09 updated as i find stuff i like/do not like, but i AM NOT a Dev, i only get my hands dirty when i need to, so as far as support goes, dont expect much and you will not be disappointed.
My tested method of getting fenris on your SHT-AL09
......download Fenris from here https://mega.nz/#!BKpX2YpT!DhotPKAkJvASYQUPeUlNz3MrZanmFNCxmm6tcd4qcE4

......Upgrade using the Dload method
......Unlock bootloader using Fastboot Unlock Method ( dont worry the code is the same )
......Go into you new 196 system and Activate ADB and OEM-Unlock
......Flash this TWRP https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m5/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-2-1-t3813825 using TWRP fastboot method
......DO NOT LET IT BOOT INTO SYSTEM, BOOT INTO TWRP INSTEAD
......Have a OTG USB adapter ( you can also use the sd card but that is a pain ) and Stick ready , copy all the files your going to need in the further steps onto it
......Hook up the stick and Flash Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_Quota_05.21.2019.zip from here https://zackptg5.com/android.php#disverfe

6..... Get to upgrade from sd card and hit it.
7..... Phone reboots and does the ****
8..... If you have used online Erecovery downgrading may fail but if setting up from new ( unboxing) this will def work
Dc Unlocker Method ( copied from a p20lite thread , but works for m5 identically )
1)First connect your phone to the PC using the original USB cable.
2)When drivers are installed a popup screen would appear to view the "HiSuite" drive. This is a created drive-letter which contains a HiSuite Software downloader. Click to open or use the Windows Explorer to browse to this virtual drive.
3)Install the HiSuite software - this is important to get the correct drivers AND correct COM ports installed on your system. Skipping this step will result in non working DC Unlocker software.
4)When all is done go to the settings in your phone and open: System -> About Phone and tap the Build-number line about 7 to 8 times. Most likely the phone will ask for a PIN to active the developers mode. This is the code you've setup to use your phone. If you're already have a "developers option" you can skip this step.
5)Now click the "back" arrow once and select "Developer options".
6)Tap OEM-Unlock to activate it (confirm if needed), scroll down and tap USB Debugging to turn it on.
7)Your phone should ask permission to connect your PC (with some MAC address). Confirm it so the connection is approved. If that doesn't show up disconnect the USB cable and check if the USB debug mode is still active in the "Developer options". Than reconnect the cable to your PC.
ready to use the DC-Unlocker software to get our unlock code:
8)First you need some credits and you can buy the using this link: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy
9)Just fill in the the fields User-name, E-mail and Credits. Leave the "New user account" option selected if you are a new user.
10)For the Credits you only need 4 of them. I, initially, bought 5 so I still have one left
11)You'll receive a confirmation e-mail with a username and password. These are needed a bit later.
12)Extract the DC-Unlocker client to a fold and start it by clicking dc-unlocker2client.exe using the Windows Explorer (or any other file manager). To be sure you can also right-click the file and start the program using Administrator credentials.
13)Select in the right portion of the program the tab "Server" and enter the username and password you've received by mail. Check the "Remeber" box and click "Check login" to verify your account.
14)Click in the left portion of the program the dropdown list below "Select manufacturer" and choose "Huawei phones".
15)Leave the droplist "Select model" selected at "Auto detect (recommended)".
16)Grab your phone and open your dialer to type this code: *#*#2846579#*#* - this will get you into the service menu of the phone.
17)Tap 1. Background Settings -> USB Port Settings and select Manufacture Mode and than tap Close.
18)Put the phone done and let your PC install the newly found drivers.
19)If that's done click the Magnifying glass in the DC-Unlocker client software.
20)If all is connected correctly your phone is detected and a message in the white part of the program will tell you so. Also the "Select Model" field should display Huawei HiSilicon Kirin Android if the detection is succesfull.
**ready to read the unlock code! Yeah!
21)Click in the right portion of the DC-Unlocker client on the tab Unlocking.
22)Several buttons are visible but just click Unlock which could take a few moments before something is displayed in the white area at the bottom of the program window.
23)The unlock code can be copied and pasted - so please do copy the number to a text file and store it savely on your computer or in your cloud.
Fastboot Unlock Method
1).... Make sure you have latest HW adb drivers installed ( check by getting an adb shell to work )
2).... Download latest Android platform tools https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
3)... Decompress etc, get to fastboot dir, open a CMD there
5).... Boot into Download mode ( vol down while plugging USB into computer with drivers set up )
6).... fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Not sure about that Seems barren in terms of real development. But in this case stock is a very good base, and in terms of memory usage very competitive with LOS, so in this case do not miss real open source code for the device.
The TWRP for our device is not great, and thats something i will get hands dirty fixing.
Any chance you could upload few pictures to show us how pc mode looks on smaller device, and will ever update your rom to 9.0?
Thanks in advance.

Yes sure will get a few screenshots out.
Will update to 9 when the dev community ( LP, Xposed, and all the other projects ) catches up.
At the moment we are prob a year away. ( Xposed barely works on EMUI 8 ).
Fenris is not your normal developers rom, its not about the latest version or untested beta code. Its about providing a stable platform for "alternative" open source code projects focused on Penetration testing, and pushing the boundaries.
any chance you could tell us how to activate desktop mode on stock rom ?
Are you rooted with the TWRP mentioned in the post ?
If not not much point in going further, plus its not an easy job mate, you good at messing around with your internal files ? Permissions and selinux contexts ? Edify script ? If so then you prob could do it. Otherwise best not even start.

Well on EMUI 9 not happening, and not happening without TWRP anyway.
So why exactly are you on EMUI 9
I guess there is no external monitor support as I dident read that anywhere.
Is it a hardware limitation?
Well, this ROM is clean and awsome, i have the 10 inch tablet but i envy those who have the Schubert model as they can try this ROM??
Fenris is now at Beta 4, front post updated.
any development for this rom?
