Anyone use the rugged case by verizon for the VK815? - G Pad 8.3 Accessories

Has anyone used the rugged case by Verizon for the VK815? (I think the SKU number is LGVK815RCBLK). How is it?

Yep. The plastic shell is cheaply made and will not stand up well, particularly the front piece which contains the screen protector. Also, this may just be me, but it seems like a rugged case is usually intended for outdoor use, but the screen protector had significant glare issues in sunlight. I couldn't just take the stock screen protector out and use a matte screen protector because, well, by that point the stock screen protector was the only thing holding the front piece of the shell together. Bottom line, I was very disappointed in the durability, but unfortunately you have very few options for the VK815 since it is not a very widely used device.

Hi, all. Noob owner of a V497 here. I'm looking for a smart cover that auto wake the tablet. I've tried the MOKO which fits perfectly with exact openings for ports but does not support auto wake/sleep.
Does this LG even support any smart case? If so, plz send me the model of the case that works.
TIA.

Removable Screen Protector? Maybe a Sliding Window?

Want to protect my screen but don't like screen protectors. Is there such a thing as a removable screen protector? I was thinking perhaps a case that had a sliding window in front of the screen....
The point of a screen protector is to protect the screen while retaining its functionality and visibility. If you plan on taking off the screen protector every time you want to use the phone, then a pouch would probably work the best
I would take a look at the either invisible shield, or phantom guards...
I personally use zaggs invisible shield and have no problems with loss of functionality...yet some people say phantom guards feels more like glass
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I've had Bodyguardz and Bestskinsever screen protectors (iPhone) and I currently have PhantomSkinz screen protector on my Captivate. IMO, I have to say that the PhantomSkinz feels the least intrusive (i.e. it feels closest to the original glass). I always felt the other protectors were a little too grippy. Then again, my iPhone 2G was starting to lag quite a bit, so it didn't really matter how sensitive the screen was if the phone couldn't keep up with it ;P

Yup I agree with you. I think a nice pouch would be the best, barring a special release from someone that I don't think is coming

Are you referring to Vaja? I would love for them to make a flip case for the Captivate, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Wow. I like those cases they look very nice. Only thing do they flip backwards when you open it or is it designed more so you can take it completely out when you use it?
The best pouch style case I've found so far is this Krusell, which I'm not even sure is genuine since I can't find anything on the Krusell site about it: http://www.totallycellphones.com/sai8capocabl1.html
I like that one a lot because it's low profile and doesn't have any clips or other stuff that makes it bigger to put in your pocket.
The Vaja cases will flip open and all the way around. Slider phones only get a pouch. There is a long wait if you get a custom case but imagine a one of a kind case in any number of colors, all leather. I had one for my Tilt-2. and would love something for the Galaxy.

Clayco [Hera Series] Full-body Rugged Case with Built-in Screen Protector

The screen protector on this is really good, and the case provides all around protection for your device. It provides a better grip on your phone and offers premium protection without feeling bulky. It even has little covers for the headphone jack and charger port to keep dust out. I've dropped it a few times and it's paid for itself. For $20 you can't go wrong with this case.
It bought it here on Amazon.
Is this bulky?
Is it a cheaper version of an otterbox?
Does it need an extender to use both the USB charging port and the headphone port?

No this is not as big as an OtterBox you won't be disappointed and you don't need extenders

I have this case and it is very good with a cheap price

It's not bulky at all, though it does make the phone feel slightly larger, but with a better grip. It feels sturdy, too, so you know it'll protect it well even if you drop it.
It is similar to an Otterbox, yes, though it is much cheaper compared to $80+ for Otterbox cases.
No, you don't need an extender. It works fine with the headphones and charger that come with it. I did need to buy one for my radio transmitter (my car is old and doesn't have Bluetooth yet). I'd take pictures of it but my old Nexus 6 was stolen, so I don't have another camera at the moment.

As a case, it's probably one of of the best on the market. However, as a screen protector it's just ok. Screen protector scratches easily and eventually, it will require a replacement. However, there is no option to buy screen protector separately.
im using lifeproof nuud and its pretty slim and all around protection.

well I disagree with your assertion that there is no seperate option for screen protector, the official Samsung soft screen protectors for the s8 work perfect, it is just that they are not glass. Apparently there still is not a good option for glass so I may stick with that

You're arguing semantics. Ocujos is correct in saying there is there is "no option to buy screen protector separately."
The Clayco Hera case consists of 2 pieces: the frame that attaches to the top of the phone and to which a hard plastic screen protector is glued, and a 2nd frame that attaches to the back of the phone. The 2 frames lock together to provide complete 360 degree coverage. When the hard plastic screen wears out from scratches, you cannot purchase a new top frame piece containing the plastic screen protector separately from Clayco, so ocujos is absolutely right.
The choices are to buy a complete new case (not a bad option considering they're so cheap), or cut out the old old plastic screen from the frame and use a separate glass or film screen protector, but I can assure you film is probably the least functional alternative.
I have the Hera case on my LG V30. I wore out the plastic screen, ended up removing the old plastic screen from the frame, and applied a film protector. However, when removing the top frame from my phone to clean it often resulted in peeling the edges of the film. I had the same issues using tempered glass with adhesive only on the edges.
IMO, the best replacement for a worn plastic screen on the Hera and all other i-Blaison cases with screen protectors is to use tempered glass with LOCA adhesive. The glue will prevent the glass from lifting when popping the top frame off the phone.
After about 9 months my Clayco Hera screen protector has started "peeling" (see attached photo). At first, it was a small patch. Now it's covering almost the whole screen. I've kept my phone indoors and in my pocket most of the time.
Has anyone else had this issue?
I think mine is starting to do that, as well. It's very light and barely there, but I think that's what is happening.

Expect a rapid deterioration from this moment on. Within a week of two from first noticing the issue , it spread across the whole screen. I've contacted i-Blason support and am waiting for a response.

Plastic screen protectors are only good to stop scratching glass. For a complete protection you need a *real* hardened glass screen protector like WhiteStone Dome.

My Samsung S8 Plus is protected by a Clayco (i-blason) Hera case. The built-in screen protector is made of *plastic*!
Plastic is not as strong as e.g. 9H hardened glass. Where glass screen protector will absorb the impact, plastic would just pass it onto the screen.

Spigen Tough Armor + GPEL Screen Protector = NO

We have 2 G7's, I put GPEL screen protectors on both. I have a generic (cheap) 'rugged armor' ripoff case, my wife bought the genuine Speigen Slim Armor. The protectors were properly applied and we waited 24hrs before putting the phones in their respected cases. The Slim Armor case eventually lifts about 20% of the screen protector off the phone. Unfortunately, my wife didn't inform me till the adhesive semi-dried and she will likely have permanent bubbles, thanks a lot Speigen. I was able to fix the issue by using a moto-tool to sand off a little of the top edge where it scrapes the screen, something it doesn't do anywhere else. YMMV. Funny that my cheap case fits better than the much more expensive name brand, proving you don't always get what you pay for. Also, for those still considering the Slim Armor? It also reduces the boombox effect which my $5 rugged armor 'tribute' case does not. But you do get a kickstand
I don't use a screen protector but I don't see how it messes with the boombox feel. I use the same case and don't have that sound issue

Another case of sarcasm not translating over the net? The case doesn't cause a huge issue, but if you place the phone on a surface with and without the case, there is a difference. It's slight and for most, inconsequential. But it's there. That the case damaged my wifes' screen protector is more of a concern.
I personally bought the Tough Armor from Spigen and here in the Italian Amazon it costs 8.99 euros which was sometimes less than other low quality ones.
I've been using it for a few days and obviously I've noticed that the boom box effect is a little bit less powerful but it's something that I can happily trade off in exchange for a more protected phone.
The cover fits perfectly and the build quality feels really top notch.
I've also tried the wireless charging and it works like a charm.
Just saying my experience since this is still a relatively new forum and maybe our posts can help someone else decide whether to buy it or not.

Slim (very slim) case

Broke the rear glass
Top-right corner is totally broken and there's a crack thru the whole glass.
At the moment I put some silicon on the corner to avoid pieces of glass from falling, but I need now a case, a very very very slim one.
Bought one from Amazon that was supposed to be slim but... the problem is that the cover on the two longer sides is too high, meaning it is higher than the white aluminium side. Not sure I can explain...
I'm looking for the slimmest and thinnest case that just covers the back and not much on the sides.
Any help?
Thanks

I had this one and it was the thinnest I could find. The only real protection is on the back of the phone which proved to be what I needed most. It finally cracked one morning I woke up from my couch and did a full stretch putting my phone into my ceiling fan on high. The case initially took a little get used to due to me being accustomed to the excellent grip from the cloth official Google case. In short, is worth the price, absolutely! Would I buy again, No.
I know this one, too thick and on the sides is too high

+1 to this. My favorite case, but it scares me to carry it sometimes. Super nice, super thin. Don't imagine it will protect much though.

By far the thinnest one I've owned and the way it fits around the edges is pretty flush. Fits like a glove and feels good in the hand. Not really good for protection though if you drop it, but more like a wrap to keep it from getting dinged up.
I can post a photo of mine later if you want one.

I no longer use glass screen protectors, moved to Skinomi(best screen protector I've found so far).
When I did use them, I used curved ones and the case fit EXACTLY to the edges of it. Everything fit like a glove.

Good to know. I also use film screen protectors (currently using a Sparin one, as the Spigen was sold out at the time) as they don't have the issues that tempered glass ones suffer with curved screens.

Whitestone has a ez screen protector and also a liquid adhered protector. I have installed ez one without trouble since a few days before official release and it's still holding strong. You also get 2 for like $10 so you can't really beat it

Looks like it might have trouble fitting properly if used with a case. The black border looks problematic. Have you used it with a case and, if so, do you have any pics or comments on that? Thanks.
I'm trying to figure out the best front screen protector as well. I would prefer tempered glass but have only seen a couple and not in stock at the moment. Still have the stock one on it but it's starting to bubble and peel/Crack on the sides.
I'm using these white stone dome front tempered glass screen protector. I got two of them for $10. They work decent with a case. But make sure it is a minimalistic case like the Samsung carbon fiber.

I am currently using samsungs silicone case and there is no problems with it coming off. Have not tried with a heavy duty case but I honestly don't see it as a problem
I got my leather case (samsung one) today and love it. However as soon as i applied it the cover screen plastic protector came off in the edge so i just removed it.
since it seems pretty thick on the inside - is there any 9h glass available yet which fits with the case? Or can i go to a samsung store and they reapply the plastic one on the cover screen?
i dont mind paying
I'm using the Whitestone glass screen protector. NOT the EZ. I've used it on all my phones since it was first released, including I Note devices and the Z Fold 2.
I use this for Extra protection

I'm waiting on these to get delivered to me today actually. The stock one on my front screen is starting bubble and peel up on the side. My case kinda covers it up but the stock one is also picking up quite a few scratches. Hopefully these will do the job. Isn't that easy to fine a good tempered glass screen protector for this device. Spigen looks to be coming out with one but not available yet.

I'm using the Ringke Slim and I really like it. I ordered the Spigen S Pen case, but it won't ship for another week or so. Looks bigger than I'd like, but definitely need something I can switch to when I really need to carry the S Pen and don't want to have it loose in a pocket.
I also ordered the official Samsung Aramid case (which also won't arrive for another week or two). Based on the reports I've read and the pics I've seen, the Aramid appears to be the slimmest case available for the ZF3. I hate bulky cases, especially on a device that's as large as the ZF3, so I'm guessing I'll probably settle on the Aramid for 90% of my daily use.

Great case. No scratches. Not sure how anyone scratched their Fold with this case. You'd have to be pretty damn careless to do that. I used the adhesive strips.
