Hello guys,
Can somebody help me with something. In the past I used an old Ericssson phone which gave me an indication of a connected network/operator signal through a blinking LED on top of the phone.
At the moment i'm using a HTC Desire and it only lights up whenever you receive a text message/mail/etc..
Does anybody knows if there is an app which will tell me via the blinking LED on the front that I have a network/operator signal connection??
Thanks in advance!
Jeroen
Somebody?
Do you mean you want a bliking light when you have a wifi network available?? If so, in settings you can set a notification for when there's an open network in range and though i'm not 100% sure, probably also a blinking led!
If not, there are many led control apps on the market, some very customizable, maybe you can find one that suits you!
No, I mean the light at the front of the phone, which you will see go flicker as soon as you get an email/sms/low battery etc...the light on the left of the htc logo....
Thanks anyway
Somebody??
Try LED me know but not sure if its working on unrooted phone

Hi EasySR,
thnx for your help. Actually this program won't allow me to do that...only notifications from apps but not for your reception signal....
I hv been using 'LED me know' for a long time with my unrooted Desire with official froyo without issues. But it has no option to use for that purpose.

Sorry, but I'm not 100% sure what you are asking for?
Are you looking for the LED to flash when you are connected to the network, because surely you have signal most of them time thus, the LED will be blinking pretty much all the time. Or do you want it to indicate when your phone is sending data via your mobile phone network?
i think hes looking for the LED to tell him how strong his connection is to his phone company. I have no idea exactly how that would work with a blinking LED. Would it be blinking really fast or just stay on when you have a good signal? Seems like a waste of battery when you can just turn on the screen and see how many bars you get.

Hi Guys,
No, it's not specifically that. I mean, I'm looking for an app which will tell me if I have a signal with my operator, like the good old ericsson phones and even right now the blackberry's have. That led will blink every second:
here's an example (from a Blackberry phone):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbYZFH-0v-c
Hope you now understand what I mean.....it's just a blinking led which will tell me that I have coverage...
Thanks anyways for helping me out!
Nobody else sharing the same thoughts like I have???
I can see what you want, but not why.
You can see signal strength from the lock screen, and the LED is there to alert you to messages (SMS etc)
Not sure why you would want this. I assume you have reception all the time?
p.s Nice name

Hi Lunatic2!!
thnx for yr reply. I usually have reception all the time, but sometimes my signal drops or even no signal at all, (Tmobile/Ben network is bad) so for me it's quite useful....I think it would benifit to all of us, because it saves us from turning on yr device, and just have a quick look at our status LED
haha thnx for yr comment....It's just a random name hahaha
actually we, Desire owners (like other smartphone users as well), are suffering from battery time and such an app that you want to have is an app that will drain your battery constantly, therefore hard to understand why this is so important as long as it is just a button press away (power/unlock button) to see the reception level.

Hi iLHaNroID,
thanks for your reply. I do agree that we suffer battery drain with our Desires, but do you really think the blinking LED will drain out battery that fast?? I hardly think so anyway, but hey, that's my opinion I do like the fact that you're thinking with me, and I still hope some more people join my question
cheers!
Jeroen
I remember the flashing green led on my old Ericsson phones, so I know what you mean.
You can do something similar to what you want using Tasker.
Just create a profile based on "State > Signal Strength 0-8", and make the action "Alert > Notify LED"
That will put an alert in the notification bar and flash the LED whenever the phone has a signal. You could easily extend this so that it flashes green when you have a signal, and red when you don't.
Worth noting that the LED only lights when the screen is off - I think thats a Desire limitation.
If you don't have Tasker already you can get a 7 day trial from the devs website and see if it works for you.
Regarding reception signal
You can download Lightflow from market, it can change the led color, for almost all kinds of informations..
Ex.sms, email, twitter, facebook, low power, no signal etc..
It works perfect for me

Sorry i can't be much of a help for the rest!
For some unknows reason my status bar stopped working.
All updates or mail notifications shows up - but it's inactivated
so when I touch it nothing happens.
Untouchable - a bit more transparent than normal.
Really annoying ...
Same thing just happened to me. I started a new thread before I saw yours. I can't figure it out. Did you try a factory reset?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Haven't tried yet - spent so much time with installing and transferring.
Maybe it's the only ...
I tried a factory reset....still not working. Can't find a lot of other people with this. But I am sure that it is just a software issue. Let me know if you find a solution..I will do the same.
are you guys rooted? if so try reflashing the rom
I'm not rooted. Not sure how..but it might come to it. I am sure that this is a software problem and if I might have to wait till HTC sends there next update. This is the only problem I am having and I purchased it at a local shop where I live so I can always exchange it but th there seems to be a lot of problems out there and if I "roll the dice" I could get worse. It's really annoying but I can survive for a couple of weeks.

Landscape mode
I'm not rooted either.
Found out that my bar works in landscape mode.
feels like the phone is working even if it gets hot from time to time
and loosing signal (need restart then)
Someone has a clue about this bar problem? Reason?
Great find. Does the settings when your in the camera app work? Mine does not. It's like the top 1/2 inch of the phone won't register any touch. I am starting to think that it might be a hardware problem.
I agree
The top section register no touch
I agree - but don't know what to do.
HTC support?
Give this a try.. Apps > Settings > Display > G-Sensor calibration > Follow the on screen instructions. Then attempt to swipe down to access your notification bar.
I contacted supportand this is what they told me but it was too late and I already dropped by my local shop and exchanged it for a new one.
Let me know if this works. I would like to know just in case it happens again.
I hope it will be that easy for you. I spent so much time trying to figure this out last night and I don't think that I tried this.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Didn't work
The calibration didn't work.
Will speak to my company on Monday and have a new one.
Wish you good luck with your new.

yes. same here.... did anyone try flashing a new rom to get it to work? i have tried some but still failed....
also I noticed that sometimes the screen just froze, i wonder if theres anything to do with it.....
flash other roms and restoring back to stock didnt work... sigh all this happened after 3 weeks of usage.... i am kinda disappointed.. dont want to switch to S3 but I guess I will now....
some found how to fix this problem ??? i have this also right now
Same issue here. It is definitely a problem with the sensor at the top of the screen. I am rooted and installed Landscape Rosie (allows you to rotate sense in the landscape direction) and the notification bar works just fine in landscape but not in portrait. I am on the phone with AT&T as I write this. My phone is about 2 weeks old.

It might not be relevant, but this sub forum is for the Tegra3 version.
this is the same problem of the same tech, but the problem is there are no way to fix this problom
I got hit by this problem this weekend. I am quite surprised. Mine is one of the first few HOX's and there has been absolutely no problem with the phone.
In my status bar, I had the GSam Battery monitor, Bonny Box, swipe pad and the Easy battery saver. The problems started when I installed Bonny box and it constantly moved up and down, inside the status bar....sorta kept flickering everytime I pulled down the bar. I uninstalled bonny box since I didnt really need it. Things didnt really improve...the flickering continued.
Then I installed Notification Toggle late last week and then this problem hit me. Had about 5 shortcuts in the status bar. The status bar just would not respond until I restarted the phone. So I removed the battery monitor and saver from the status bar. Problem persisted. I removed the notifications from the bar and restarted and no problems then. I ran it like that for a day and then put back only the notifications into the status bar and havent had any problems yet.
I am going to put the Battery monitor and saver back tonite and lets see then what happens...
I am not rooted and everything is stock. India version. Hope it helps. Let me know if any more information from my end helps.

At first I thought I was the only one suffering from this annoyance, but then I saw this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgvTFu6UKJI
See, the problem is that whenever I send or receive a message, this icon pops up. At first I thought I was delusional, but then it repeatedly became clear that this was truly a bug. I managed to get a screenshot of it (which was really difficult considering that it only pops up for about half a second). I want to know if I anyone else has had this issue, and whether or not someone found a workaround from it popping up. Anyone at all?
Are you using Hangouts?
Nope! Stock everything, and unrooted. Using the HTC messaging app

This bothered me as well, but I have since gotten rid of it. Granted that you're rooted, you can download an Xposed module called NotifyClean. It listens for "notifications" in the status bar, and you have the option to disable them. Download/install/activate the module, turn on the listening feature, and send a message. When you go back into NotifyClean, you'll see "Data Usage". Select that, then select "Data usage is running". It should highlight the selection in red, and ultimately get rid of the little annoying icon that shows up for a split second.
It seems that I'm not the only one having an issue. Well hopefully there's a better work around for this because I don't plan rooting my phone for a long time! Flashing roms and tweaks could be addicting haha! Hopefully someone finds a better fix to hide this annoying notification!

Yeah, take it from someone that flashed a ROM today and every mod/tweak I could find... it gets addicting. I spent 8 hours at my computer today going over various mods and personalizing my phone. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything to help with your issue that doesn't involve root. If you know what is causing the notification then you may be able to go into settings>apps>all and disable the offender?

I managed to get a screenshot, and I checked what app was causing it but it was a system app called "Data Usage". Anyone know how to turn off data usage notifications? Turning off data usage alert doesn't help
This is normal behavior. While it shouldn't be popping up, its normal as in that it is what is done when a SMS/MMS is sent while on WiFi.
You can locate the app through Application Manager and tap it to Disable Notifications. This doesnt require root or anything.
Taking shots in the dark here, but there is a data usage section under wireless & networks in settings. In that menu there is a toggle for 'alert me about data usage'. You can then drag a slider up and down to set the cap for when your phone warns you about data usage. Maybe yours is dragged to the very bottom so it alerts you about any data usage?
Unlikely because it would show up during everything, but worth asking. Maybe just disabling the notification toggle would work. Also, does your carrier ship with specific software to monitor data usage? If so then check all of those apps settings to see if anything has any effect.
It doesn't matter whether or not the wifi is on, it still annoyingly pops up. I meant that you really can't disable notifications as it is a system app

I read its some type of traffic usage. Someone here posted a picture of it here. Also I have an option on the ROM I'm running to hide that notification. O don't think its carrier IQ but then again.
So recently I've noticed that whenever I press the WiFi icon in the quick settings menu, it will blink/flash a few times before the icon is fully blue. It will look as though it's repeatedly being turned on. This happens when I toggle it both on and off (it'll look as though it's turning off a few times). I've restarted the phone and this issue is still here. Does anyone have the same experience or has managed to fix this issue? I've tried restarting the phone, shifting its position in the quick settings bar, removing and then putting it back in the quick settings bar. I'd appreciate it if anyone could help me with this issue.

My wife's LG g4 is now three weeks old and I've noticed this problem I've done a factory reset I've tried all kinds of things I can't get it to stop and called lg2 told me I have to send it to the repair center in Texas I'll be out of a phone for two weeks
That's the intended design. "turning on and scanning" is sort of a state between on and off, so they make it blink to feel in-between.
Just my 2 cents though.

Same issue heer now after update. wifi wont work(
I got the LG G4 in July and have had this issue. I sent the phone for repair at their Texas facility in August. After a few weeks, I got the phone back and just within the past few weeks I've seen this issue occur again. The repair notes say that they have "Replaced Bluetooth Module". My WiFi connection disconnects when this issue occurs, so it's really annoying and a dealbreaker for me. I'm going to get a completely different phone replacement from Verizon.
Maybe a Fix
I saw this in another forum...haven't tried it yet:
Just signed in to share this.. I solved it by deleting /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf .
It will reset all your saved networks.
I have it rooted and deleted the file through a root explorer or you can remove it via adb (adb shell rm -r /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf Im not sure).
You may back it up before then open with a text reader to see your saved passwords.
Hope it helps.
I have same probom what must do?

I think its the google.
My issue resolved in lg g4 by clearing cache in recovery and in app of all google related cleared app data and cache.
It is the google whos turning on the wifi
Starting a thread, since it seems it's officially out.
Let's share our impressions of the update, and any questions or issues that you've encountered.
First Impression:
Looks and feels almost exactly the same as before so far. App drawer is exactly the same. Colors, the same, etc.
However, moving the up or down button doesn't give you the option to change the do not disturb (you could make it priority or no disturbances). You can still mute/go to vibrate by clicking on the 'bell' icon, and if you click the down arrow, you can change volumes on music and alarms.
Edit: you can swipe down twice/swipe down with two fingers from notifications bar, and the Do Not Disturb option is in the lowest right corner of the toggles. Tapping it will allow you to do Do Not Disturb settings. Note: once you click it, it automatically enables do not disturb.
I miss the old way. Anyone know how to change it back and/or a quick way to get to that?
Also, Now On Tap is not enabled by default. You have to go to Settings/Google/Search&Now/Now on Tap
Accessing Google Now has changed. Instead of swiping up from bottom of screen, you have to hold the 'home' icon (the circle in the middle of the triangle and square).
If you have turned on 'Google On Tap', contextual cards will pop up as determined by On Tap. If you click the 'G' below, you'll get to Google Now. If you're tired of On Tap you can click the three circles near the G to turn it off.
I really thought Verizon was waiting for the Marshmallow update to add wifi calling capability to the Turbo 2, but it's still nowhere in sight. Why do the iPhone and Samsung get the wifi calling feature and not the Droid-branded Verizon flagship?
Glad to have System UI tuner back, and Doze will be welcome at work tomorrow.

My son and I are using Turbo 2s on T-Mobile and got the update OTA today. That was nice but now both our LTE is limited to 1 mbps. Running SpeedTest it starts at 5 to 8 and then drop to 1 and flat lines there.
My wife is getting mid 30s with her N6 which is what I got at home before the update.
Be interesting if anyone else running a Turbo 2 not on Verizon has the same issue.
Well, found a fix... Kinda. I was scratching my head over this and searched T-Mobile throttling. Turns out with our Turbo 2s on Marshmallow T-Mobile's Binge On service is applied to ALL my data. Once I turned it off our speeds came back.
In case anyone else is using their Turbo 2 on T-Mobile here are the dial codes to check and switch Binge on and off.

Off: #263#
On: #266#

It is a set of hidden tweaks, like Quick Menu options and Status Bar Icons. You unlock it by pulling down the quick menu and holding the gear for several seconds. Here is a basic overview: http://www.androidcentral.com/inside-marshmallow-system-ui-tuner
I do not like the new dialer. And they never fixed the phone/audio jack problem... I have to hit speaker phone when using the jack making a call.
I am not able to unlock the system UI tuner?

There are 4 ways to access the toggles in in your notifications pull down:
1. swipe down twice from notification bar
2. swipe down with two fingers from notification bar
3. swipe down once from notification bar, and tap the grey notification area
4. triple tap on notification bar
I just found out about the fourth way and it's the easiest way for me to access it.
