Definitive Android solution to encrypt device, with pattern / pin unlock? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know if there's a definitive way of doing this? Or if Google intend to address this in the future for Android devices?
I hate to reference Apple but I can pin or fingerprint unlock an iphone 5s, yet the contents of the phone are entirely encrypted. If I plug it into a PC it's not accessible unless the display is unlocked.
With Android though, I need to enter a huge encryption password. I've found a couple of very old guides but none of them seem to be up to date and many responses to the guides imply they don't work.
I'd love to encrypt my Note 2 and my SD card :/ but I don't want to enter a password to unlock it for every day use :/
Surely Google will be looking at an easier solution long term for this?

Can you force both a Fingerprint & a password to unlock your phone?

I've always been a privacy advocate and been knowledgeable about those law that protect us. After finding out judges can compel you to use your fingerprints to unlock your phone but compel you to give your password to unlock your phone/ your information, I've been looking to see if you can combine the two. I haven't found any yet but I thought someone here might now.
Is there a way require both a fingerprint and password/pattern/pin to unlock your phone every time? Would I have to download an app or something else? Is this even possible without me doing the coding myself?
Thanks in advance to anyone who answers or offers advice on how to achieve this.
Google gives you the option when you set up on initial boot .:good:

I wouldn't be at all worried about being ordered to unlock a device with the finger print for various reasons.
- 3 wrong attempts locks the device via password
- rebooting the devices forces a password entry
- every 48 hours the device will require a password entry
So as you see there's no way that anyone could be sure that your device will be unlockable with your fingerprint, and just because you have a fingerprint sensor doesn't mean you've set it up to unlock your device.
Even if you happen to suddenly find yourself in some dystopian universe with a big brother government somehow being able to prove you use the finger print sensor, it would be child's play to simply reboot the device (can even be done in your pocket without looking at the screen) or to use your wrong finger 3 times, or for 48 hours to pass, etc.

Bypass FRP Samsung Galaxy and HTC

It could sounds rare but Android phone blocking it really happened! How can someone possibly setup a new password (PIN) and forget about it in a matter of several hours? Well, it turns out that all she wanted was to set something both easy to remember and hard to crack. So, she picked up a 6-digit PIN screen lock sequence, but obviously didn’t memorize it well enough later to confidently access her phone. Another thing is, averybody has several accounts that need password and sometimes is difficult to remember each. Internet show you alot of methods to unlock your device, but this could be the best, if you have some issue about it try this trick, I'll gave you the way to unlock samsung galaxy and HTC:

Security on Android 9

I have the screen lock activated on my Pixel 3a XLs but do not feel it is sufficient, nor would I trust the fingerprint lock. Ideally I would like to be able to use a passphrase to decrypt the phone when turning it on and a PIN when bypassing the lock screen. No fingerprint lock since I have read many stories about how easily they can be fooled.
I do not see any way of entering a passphrase (which I have used on my previous phones and am using on a tablet running Android 7) - is there one? The program cryptfs does not work on Android 9.
Also, is there a way of limiting the number of attempts at entering a screen lock PIN? And a way of setting a minimum delay between each entry? As it is now, a robot could hypothetically be used to quickly go through a large number of PIN codes until the correct one is found...
I think you have to use the same method for both decrypting the phone initially and then to unlock the lock screen.
So if you want to use a passcode to decrypt, you will have to use it to unlock the phone. Setting up the passcode under settings/security/screen lock/password should also set it up for decryption.

That would be unfortunate. I know Android 7 allowed me to have a passphrase for decrypting the data partition and a PIN for unlocking the screen.
Does anyone know about the other questions I raised, ie setting a maximum number of unlock attempts and a minimum time between attempts?

S20 - Configuration Assistant PIN Forgotten

Hi Everyone,
i'm facing a big issue with my Samsung Galaxy S20. here is the story : i forgot my PIN code and decided to factory reboot it in order to recover my configuration without having to remember the PIN I've forgotten, thinking that my Google account will make it for me. When i restarted my phone, the configuration assistant is offering me to deliver the config with all pictures, messages, screenshots etc etc to restore the mobile as it was before the hard reboot. The problem is that it is requiring the PIN code i've forgotten, and i don't know how to proceed to recover it (and the system is telling that there are 5 remaining attempts before removing it from the phone). There are a lot of cherish pictures i'd love to recover on this save and i don't know how to reach it without the PIN Code. Do you know if there is a way to do it ? (maybe with the source code or something ? ) that would be really helpful ! many thanks for your help !
Is it possible to use your Samsung account to recover it?
Can you connect with adb?
Pause, relax, and explore all other possibilities.
Try Samsung and Google tech support, you may get lucky.
You have a SD card slot. Why didn't you use as your data drive? Too late now but learn from your mistakes.
It's possible you didn't forget that password and it became corrupted. I got locked out of a laptop bios like that.
In the future don't set password unlocks for the phone.
NEVER encrypt backup data.
You are the most likely to be locked out, sometimes by no fault of your own... other than using the lock or encryption in the first place.
Always redundantly backup critical data to at least 2 hdds that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and the PC.
I've lost databases, not fun... but educational.
Regardless of the outcome consider this experience a course from the U of Hard Knocks.
My backup protocols may seem like overkill (I use way more than 2 hdds for backup) but it's what's needed to prevent critical data lose. Cloud backup is ok to use but the primary archive should always be hdds that are well maintained and protected.

Question PIN unknown, owner deceased :( Need to open the phone w/o wiping it

Is there a way to get into the phone after a reboot if the PIN is unknown? The owner died and the family needs to get into the phone. Any pointers appreciated. Thanks!

It is out there on how to do it, search for it, because we cannot know if this is indeed a truthful and/or legal request we can not answer. Sorry!
"it's out there" - yeah, I figured that much. I'm not about to upload a death certificate on a public board, you'll have to forgive me. Any actually helpful pointers to get this done? Just trying to help the family. Thanks.
Android All_In_One_Tool maybe
Is Jack Bauer involved?
I wish! He'd have the thing enter it's own code just by giving it an angry stare
So I found the tool mentioned above, not quite sure which function I'd use to take a crack at it. Best option would be a giant "remove pin" button, highlighted in yellow for me, lol... The 9 Pro isn't explicitly stated as supported either, hope that's not an issue in this case. Am I going to Recovery/Flasher and Device Rooter or Decrypt internal storage?
Any new Oneplus phone that has a PIN also has FBEv2. Everything that matters on the phone is encrypted at rest.* Even if you bypass lock screen, you need the PIN to open any data in the phone. If the bootloader is unlocked, you can try backing up data with a custom recovery like TWRP or orangefox, but most if not all files stored in internal storage is encrypted.
Basically, if the PIN is lost, bypass the lock screen is no use and you can wipe the data now. See if the PIN is written down somewhere
Mmm was the phone linked to Google? It could be what you're after has been uploaded to Google drive ( photos etc)
its worth a shot
