Are there any differences? Pros and Cons to each of these methods?
Thanks in advance.
The stock unrooted runs just as well in my opinion. If you want to flash different roms then go ahead a unlock and root. It really cones down to what you want to do with your phone.

Thank you for your response.
Yes...I want to push new ROMs to my phone...been doing it for 10 years now..
So...is the Dev version better for this? or is the Retail with the Unlocked bootloader going to be better?

It's essentially the same. The exploit turns a retail note 4 into a developers edition note 4. All its doing is changing the CID to match a dev edition. You can push Roms, kernels, modems, etc to it same as a dev edition. Just more steps to do to get to the final product.

Does Flashing SGH-I747 4.3 to a custom ROM will remove the carrier lock of the phone?
No, you are Still locked to your carrier

Couple of things to keep in mind:
1) if you want to unlock the phone, get a code and unlock the phone while running a stock ROM. You will not be able to enter the code using a custom ROM; and
2) do not attempt to downgrade the bootloader. Any attempts to downgrade could, and probably will, brick your phone.
Does this really works?
I have read through the forums. And I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/app-galaxsim-unlock-1-02-jb-compatible-t1846451 Does this really work?

I doubt it. If it did, there would be a big thread about it in the i747/i747m forum. Also, under FAQ, it states the following: support international Galaxy S3 i9300 (Us qualcomm based GS3 are not supported at this time)
The last post in that thread was 2013-06-14.
That unlock app will not work as it does not support U.S S3 variants
There's a working downgrade to 4.1.1 check it out and while on it, try the free unlock then upgrade again
Edit: my bad.. You can't do the free unlock even of you downgrade because the bootloader is still 4.3... Only way to do it once you're on 4.3 bootloader is to purchase an unlock code
Good luck

Hi guys, like all of you i have been waiting patiently for root on my VZW Note 4. Upon doing a little research i found that Chainfire has rooted the note 4. I went to his website to see if the SM N910V is compatible and according to the site...it is!!!!!.......
Can someone please verify if this will work on the retail version on the VZW SM N910V.
Thanks

IIRC thats for the dev ed.
Ah crap. I was afraid of that....
Thanks man. Just out of curiosity, what would happen if I was to attempt that?

You may brick your device. It is of course possible to bring your device back from such a disaster but you can avoid that by acknowledging that the Dev. Edition has an unlocked bootloader unlike the retail Verizon model which is why it was easier to root. I would wait for another method.

Q&A for Possible root??
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for Possible root??. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

What is the difference between the dev ed and the reg note 4? I look at the build number and I have that same one.

I have a note 4 with the same recovery build, but when I go into download mode. My bootloader looks the same a all the others. How can you actually tell if you have a developer edition or a unlocked bootloader?
Developer Editions come straight from Samsung...if you bought it from Samsung, paid full price, it has Developer Device on the box and under the battery.....and you see developer when in DL mode....you have a Developer Device with an unlocked bootloader.

Thanks for responding. I was hoping maybe we could use FlashFire to flash a developer edition firmware/software. Isn't the hardware the same between the retail and developer editions?
Developer Editions are exactly the same....except for the phone specific aBoots......only for the phone it is on.

And it can't be that obvious that we also FlashFire the aboot. Thanks again. I've been a follower for years but not a developer. I'm going to try to learn more. I was ready to buy a Developer Edition, but then I heard GN5 was just around the corner, and temp root was achieved, so I thought I'd go retail and see what happens. I've been a Samsung fan for a while, and it seems that with every new device, ther's gloom and doom about root, but it always gets figured out by the team. Do you hold out hope that GN4 will also eventually get root?

I've been stuck on the verizon s3 for a couple of years and I finally bought a new phone. Naturally I had to get the developers edition of the HTC One m9. So I am wondering if their is a specific forum for our phones? Or do I just flash a rom according to whatever SIM card I'm using that day?
Also even though it was purchased as a developers edition, can flashing the wrong kernal get me stuck with a locked bootloader again?

Your in the right forums for your Developer Edition M9, Are you still with Verizon ?
I have a bit of a repository for the DE stuff here >> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=28823
Any of the Roms in the Developer forums will work fine on your phone, I have tried Leedroid / ViperOneM9 / Stock with Goodies / and ARHD
with no problems.
I would be interested in knowing how you can get Verizon to work on a GSM phone if that is the case.

Awesome, thanks for the link!
I am still with verizon! tried the vzw sim to no avail and so far my m9 is just looking pretty. am still using my vzw s3 with no power button. I may go out today and get a t-mobile Sim card. I am definately dragging my feet because verizon does have the best coverage. But I will also find out if I SIM unlocked the s3. After the power button broke I went crazy with a few dialer code apps and I got to a point where I could manually input APN's. If that's the case I may invest a few bucks to have it fixed.
I was looking at you nicely organized repository and noticed you had a copy of the stock recovery. May I ask what you used to back it up?

LeeDroid is a nice Sense based Rom, lots of tweaks and very stable/bug free and includes his own custom kernel

Anyone know if I already get them to the developer edition the update 1.40.401.8 ?????
Can you rephrase your question? I'm not sure what you're asking.
If you are asking about the 1.40.xx than as far as I know it is firmware for the international version. However you can flash it in Order to run some custom roms. I'm currently using it on my dev edition in order to run viper one.

The sm-n910v is one of the best snapdragon note 4 when it comes to unlocking the bootloader and rooting. It can be upgraded or downgraded from 4.4 to 6.0.1. They haven't released a firmware yet that will lock you in place. Just follow one of the many guides on unlocking your bootloader and enjoy.
