Trying to root, soft brick - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, so I was trying to root using kingroot and the new unlock bl method. Well, somehow I got my self into a bootloop/softbrick. I have twrp loaded, it says that there is no os. It's been so long since I have done this stuff but I think I need a stock rom, load it on the sd card and flash with twrp. Only problem is that I don't know what rom to load. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Try Paulpizz. I'm running it right now with xposed.

This will take 10 minutes to boot after installation so be patient.

I'm confused what you're asking. So when you leave twrp it says you may have lost root? Or when you load the ROM you don't have root?

If You have root I don't see the problem. You'll sometimes get a disable recovery flash message too. Just ignore them both and enjoy your new ROM.

[Q] Upadating Question

Hello XDA Developers! How are you doing?
I just got a Notification that, an update is available for my N7 2013. I guess it is the 4.4.3 one.
So, I rooted it with the Nexus Toolkit when I got the Tablet and have since then gotten around playing with Xposed (GravityBox[KK], Youtube AdAway, Instagram Downloader and AppOpsXposed).
My Questions now are the following:
Should I just OTA Update or should I take my Nexus Toolkit and use that?
Do I have to uninstall all the Xposed stuff? (everything on the latest stable version offered to me)
Is it necessary to Root again or is the Kernel still rooted afterwards?
Any resets necessary? Just a cache one?
Thanks in advance for your answers!
Best Regards

Give this thread a read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2523217. It's simple to understand and super informative when it comes to updating OTAs. I know it's in the Nexus 5 forums, but the same principals apply.

Thanks allot! Read through but still got some questions:
If I want to OTA I have to go completely Stock I understand this now but, if I use the Nexus Toolkit, do I still need to Uninstall everything Xposed related and go back to stock first? Or just uninstall everything Xposed and continue with the Toolkits FW Flashing and afterwards re-rooting?
OR just use the Toolkit and everything is good to go?
Thanks again!

Not exactly sure how the toolkit works to update. I don't use them since I'm not a fan of toolkits. If it just boots you into custom recovery and flashes the OTA, then you need to be stock (with Xposed Framework uninstalled). If it boots you into the bootloader and fastboot flashes the individual image files, you don't need to uninstall, but you will need to reinstall/activate the framework after booting into 4.4.3. You'll also need to re-root, unless the toolkit does that for you too after updating.

Alright thanks again!
It has been quite some time since I last used it so I googled it again and found this http://nexus5.wonderhowto.com/how-t...ndroid-4-4-3-without-losing-any-data-0155334/
In the end there is this
You should now be up to date, with root and custom recovery restored and all of your data intact. If you use Xposed, you'll have to install the framework again for your modules to become active.

[Q] LS980 keeps booting into recovery

Hi dear xda members,
My phone was rooted out of the box when i purchased it via amazon, i went ahead and downloaded FreeGee and installed CWM. everything went smoothly but on the next reboot, the phone booted into recovery and i was happy to see the CWM their, but now, its stuck on recovery. No matter what i do it keeps booting into recovery.
Pushing files via ADB works, i tried to flash cm11 with ZV8 radio, but still it boots into recovery.
Did any of you guys had any experience like this ? is my device bricked ?
Thank you.

I'm not sure, I never tried to GSM unlock my LS980, because I don't know if it'll damage my phone let alone my service with Sprint and the plan I'm with.

[Q] Help Rooting with 4.4.2 - nothing works!

I've researched or tried Towelroot, Kingo and several other methods found in this forum and others. Everything seems to be for previous (before 4.4.2) Android releases and therefore does not work with my phone.
Is there anything that currently works to root a stock OTA 4.4.2?
Help!
Thanks!
Geo

If you are using a sprint l900 then bootloader iS NOT LOCKED. Use a windows pc and cf's auto root and you will be rooted.

There is MUCH Joy.
For others who may need this info: I spent about an hour reading through the XDA forum for CF-Auto-Root.
I then spent about 10 minutes finding and installing Samsung USB Drivers
I then followed the CF Auto Root instructions. It worked. less than a minute later I was rooted.
I then spent 1/2 hour searching for, downloading, installing and configuring the APK for SuperSu 2.1 (manually since CF Auto Root installed version 1.something, which seemed to keep crashing).
For added joy I installed from Google Play WiFi Tether Router (paid app) and 10 minutes later had working Hot Spot.
Thanks for pointing me to the right place - and for the tip about my bootloader.
