(Tried on Redmi Note 3, Asus Zenfone, Samsung Note 3)
I have installed tally viewer in my smartphone, but i am not able to access data in LAN mode from tally using DNS Name, but i can view the data if i connect with direct ip address in local wifi , (everything same)
For Same settings I tried on MEmu, it worked both way using DNS name & local wifi ip address.
One more thing
Open the same address in chrome desktop - it works, but on chrome on mobile it doesnt.
1st image from Desktop Chrome & 2nd is screenshot of Mobile Chrome

Does anyone know how I can find out the mac address of my xda IIs ? I have a dreytek wireless router at home which uses a mac based access control list. I've tried the addresses that appear in wireless LAN manager ( BSSID and MAC ) but no joy. The only way I can connect is to switch off the access list feature completely
jeff
Hi Jeff,
Switch off the Access control, and let the XDA IIs join the wireless network. Then go into Diagnostic Tools --> View DHCP assigned addresses, and you will get a list of MAC addresses, IP addresses and hosts on the network. Match your phone's name to the MAC address.
Then you can turn access control on again and input the phone's mac address into the "allowed" list.
Thanks for the reply. I've kind of done that as you can see from the DHCP table below
DHCP server: Running
Index IP Address MAC Address Leased Time HOST ID
1 192.168.1.1 00-50-7F-23-97-CC ROUTER IP
2 192.168.1.10 00-00-00-00-00-00 BAD IP
3 192.168.1.11 00-0D-61-4E-A7-F7 0:00:04.600 hubbo
4 192.168.1.12 00-09-2D-0E-49-61 9:24:34.170
(not sure about that BADIP line ! )
I would say my MAC is 00-09-2D-0E-49-61 but it's still not working.... odd.
Is there no way that you can tell the MAC address from the phone without connecting to a network.
Here is a freeware that will allow you to find your MAC with no connection. I used it on my PDA2K.
http://www.freewareppc.com/communication/vxipconfig.shtml
Install on your device. Just turn the wifi on and run the program and it will give you the MAC and additional device info. Don't have the PPC connected to the USB or it will identify that device.
Sorted thanks, whilst in PC World I scanned for a Wireless network, and found three, hehe! Once connected used that utility to get my MAC.
Many thanks!

Hello, I apologize if this thread has been created, but I cannot find anything searching "vpn" in this forum since its only 3 chars long.
I would like to connect my G2 to my work's intranet via VPN. I can successfully do so via the built in options under Wireless & Networks option. However I have slight inconveniences with that option.
#1 DNS does not work. I cannot resolve any internal IPs once connected to the VPN which makes the VPN connection useless unless I memorize all the IPs. I manually set the DNS Search Domains option in the VPS settings, but I am still connected to some other DNS server according to IPDroid app.
#2 No password remembering. I dislike having to open up the keyboard to type the password.
Is there a market app that will satisfy my above 2 requirements while doing everything the stock option will allow?
Not out there yet...

is it possible to access d-link router settings ( over ip adress ) from ONEX and how ??????????????????????
appriciate any concrete sollutions
Well your phone has a browser, so it's the same as from a pc or laptop. Put the IP address into the browser.
The rest is somewhat off topic as it's specific to your router.
i tried this , but it's not goin' that way ... it wont access????
any other opinion?????
Actualy you are connecting trough the gateway.I have a D-Link and an Asus router and i simply connect to them using the browser avaible in HOX,or other browser like Chrome,Firefox.I am using Chrome for instance and i don't have any problems with it.The only thing that doesn't work verry well is when you are restarting the router using the phone, because after the wait time my phone doesn't connect automaticaly to the router and it gives me a blank page, but you can always refresh and you will be brought to the routers page again.

You mean that the router login page is not accessible or it won't accept your login name and password?
Did you try a different web browser (Firefox, Chrome) ?
If the connection to the router times out, you are probably putting in an incorrect router address or you're on a different network.
Make sure that you're connected to the WiFi which belongs to the router and which is not a "guest network". The URL you're putting in to the web browser should look like http://192.168.1.1 (check on your PC where it does work for you; avoid using host names, by using IP you eliminate possible issues during DNS resolution).
I was having some issues connecting to mobile hotspot with galaxy tab 3 7.0 wifi. It would connect just fine to my home internet. And although it would show a strong signal connection to the hotspot running off my phone it would not connect to the internet.
I found this post online and I just thought I would share here with the community in case anyone else is having issues. This worked for me.
I take no credit for this, just wanted to share it.

I ve spent nearly 3 hours today and 4 hours last week trying to resolve this on my new S3. I was pretty flummoxed when the wifi signal seemed to drop off without any reason.
After much hunting, my initial hunch seems to be correct
a) Interference from other devices
b) Unable to get an IP address
c) I am just a layman when it comes to networking, but since all of my other devices at home the iPad, iPhone and my laptop seem to have no issues (my laptop occassionally has the same drop-off problem), I thought it's likely to be a phone issue rather than a router issue.
To resolve this I found another thread on the forum and I tried this, and Bingo! it worked.
Press these menu options on your phone: Settings > Wi-fi> (Choose your network by tapping on it for a few seconds) > Modify network config
Check "Show advanced options"
Choose IP Settings: "Static"
Enter these details
IP - 192.168.1.253 or 195.168.1.253
Gateway - 195.168.1.1 (I chose 192.168.1.1 since that's my router address)
NPL - 24
Netmask - 255.255.255.0 (I could not find this option)
DNS 1 - 8.8.4.4 or 8.8.8.8 (I had the latter by default and let it stay)
DNS 2 - 4.4.4.4
And save.
Presto! It just connected in a few milliseconds.
It may not be so simple for each phone, but it's certainly worthwhile to try.
Here is the link the forum thread, where I resolved it:
Good luck

cool.
I've some problem with wifi on galaxy tab 3 7.0 SM-T211 (JB 4.1.2)
When connect using hotspot laptop or tethering via other device, my wifi always scanning every 7s. make my battery run out.
I was trying use advance setting (static IP) but still same.
How to solved this problem?
instable wifi
Somehow the solution with a static ip works perfectly
I also assigned this ip in the router to the mac adress of the phone
Thanks raptorseye
Hi,
I received my MiA2 lite last week, with Android Pie and September security patch.
I tried to use the hotspot yesterday for the first time, and I was not able to use internet from my laptop.
Apparently my laptop (Windows 7) connects to the hotspot, and in the wirelesse connections tab windos also says "internet access", but when I try to open google chrome and browse, the connection is just not working... never had any problems with my old mobile (redmi 4). I am using the same sim card and same laptop.
Anyone can help, please?

Hello;
the ootspot only works if the related data sim is located on slot No. 1
The sim is in slot No.1.
It is weird... the computer gets connected to the hotspot, windows also says "internet access", but when I try to browse to any website, the connection just is not working (google gets stuck with "estabilishing a secure connection", or something similar)
FWIW I've never got hotspot to work. I use the Bluetooth network when I need to connect my laptop.
Possibly the sim slots are misnumbered? I believe they swapped when I upgraded from Oreo to pie...
If computers can connect to the hotspot but cannot reach any webpage, most of the time this is due to DNS server not responding (your carrier could be blocking tethering connections...)
You should try to set your computer connection to use manual DNS instead of automatic carrier DNS : OpenDNS Windows 7 Configuration
This link is for OpenDNS but you can use any other dns provider (Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1 / 1.0.0.1 - Google: 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4)
Let us know if this works
Is your data plan restricted you from sharing data with the hotspot?
Because my data plan is unlimited quota and I cannot access internet with laptop using mobile hotspot.
No problems with hotspot using this device, connecting another phones and laptops, providing that I've registered to available mobile prepaid internet plans/top-ups. Sounds like your carrier issue with internet plans / hotspots.
Still not working... Windows network center says I have connection to internet, but obviously I have not... I cannot even ping Google.com
I was able to use the hotspot with my previous phone... My network provider allows tethering
Did you try with custom DNS server ?
Did you try to ping an IP address instead of a domain name ?
Tethering traffic can be marked, allowing carrier DNS to filter it, but not all phones comply with this rule...
