HTC One M8S can't boot into Recovery. - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,2 days ago I attempted to root my HTC One M8S.I'm here so therefore I failed .I've unlocked the bootloader I can get into with ease. The problem comes when I try to go into recovery(TWRP,CWM,whatever).I flashed the recovery(TWRP and CWM tried both) but it seems I can't boot into recovery at all.I go into the bootloader and I select recovery my phone just attempts to reboot and it goes in a kinda standby state with the an orange led blinking and black screen(when it's connected to the PC/charger a blinking battery image with a lightning appears blinking). That's my recovery.I have no errors when flashing the recovery or any kind of errors.
If you could help me I would be grateful. Thanks in advance.

The most possible reason for the failure is you installed wrong recovery that is not meant for your device variant ... there is no CWM recovery for M8S.

Thank you. That was the problem.About the ROMs are the same as M8 ones or should I look for M8S ones.I didnt found any.

M8s is a completely different machine and M8 ROMs will not work.
I suggest reading this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/make-custom-recovery-htc-one-m8s-t3114245

It seems like you might have a bad SD card. Do you have any spare SDs lying around that you could try out? by the way have you been trying to flash these updates through recovery, because they are designed to be flashed in hboot. I thought you were using hboot to flash based on the language used but from the picture you loaded it looks like stock recovery if I am correct. If you have been trying to flash these files through recovery try again using hboot but I suspect you were doing it right the first time. If that is the case, I would do like I suggested above and try using an alternate sd card. I can't promise that will fix the problem but based on the fact that recovery is unable to mount /sdcard it seems like it is a hardware problem.
no, i flashed trough hboot and device did not boot
after that i tried to do hardreset in recovery
i will try another card, i have 64gb on me right now, dont know if it will work

[Q] Htc wildfire rooting issue

Ok so guys i had just rooted my htc wildfire s (or atleast thought i rooted it ) and was trying to install a cyanogen mod ROM , it would not install ,if it would install it would be stuck at the htc logo screen , now i thought this would be the fault of recovery so i decided to install another recovery and flash that with cmd (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) but then when i booted in recovery it would show me the pink recovery, i got a little scared and flashed another recovery and now the recovery will not even boot . it will just go on htc logo and black screen , i tried many different recoveries but no avail , it is in s-on right now , please forgive me if this sounds noobish i really am a noob at this .please provide me with a solution and tell me if it is bricked and if i can repair it by taking it to a software shop and asking them to do it for me (Just advise me if i can come back from this)
Flash the first recovery, which actually worked, and if it installs, wipe everything and flash a basic CM7 rom. It'll work. It's just soft bricked don't worry.

actually i gave it to a software store , he said he couldn't do it as the files were not to be found ... i think it might have been bricked but seeing as i can access h-boot only and when i turn on the phone it only stays on the htc logo screen and does not proceed can you call this bricked . ? i tried the first recovery as you mentioned but it was no use ... i tried relocking and unlocking bootloader again but it seems as if that was unnecessary as nothing different happened .. im still waiting for an answer
This is really very weird.
Check this out

Start from square one, unlock the bootloader, flash the recovery, if one doesn't install, try another, at least one will surely work, and then flash a new rom.
All the best.
Remember, android can never be bricked, there is always a way out.

HTC One m8s won't Boot. Even into recovery

Hi all. I tried to root my HTC one m8s today using hasoons all in one kit for the m8. I got as far as flashing TWRP recovery but this is where I went wrong. Instead of rebooting at this point I tried to check the recovery on my phone. Now my phone won't Boot, even into recovery. The command prompt said the image was flashed successfully. I think it is stuck in some kind of loop where the orange led flashes and the charging symbol (battery with Lightning bolt) keeps appearing and disappearing. Also the battery doesn't show any charge. I have tried to remove the sim and sd card. I have also tried rebooting and booting into recovery several times both plugged into a charger and not. Is it possible to salvage the handset?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Free mobile app
How can you flash something for M8 on your M8s ?
They are two different device and won't work.
Read this thread and get help there if you need to.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/make-custom-recovery-htc-one-m8s-t3114245
Forget the toolkits, they haven't been updated in more than a year; and won't even flash a working (current) recovery to most current M8 devices.
But as mentioned, the M8s is completely different hardware (in reality, a completely different device) from the M8, different recovery and different ROMs. You'd be lucky if flashing another device's recovery didn't brick your M8s.

Problem in Recovery boot, while rooting

I decided to root my phone. I have an htc one M8 with android version 4.4.2. I followed a detailed guide step by step found on htconeroot site (sorry cant post link im a new user but its the same rooting process i found everywhere). Everything went perfect until the final stage ''step 25: choose “RECOVERY” and hit the Power button'' well i did that and instead get access to TWRP Recovery, the HBOOT RECOVERY option just show me for about 1-2 seconds the screen with HTC logo and letters ''entering recovery ...'' but almost immediately jumps back to fastboot menu ! never get into TWRP so i can finish rooting process. My phone, if i select reboot, works fine (unrooted).
Details of the device:
MEM_UL PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-3.19.0.0000
RADIO-1.101.1102.19.1017
OpenDSP-v28.2.2-00546.0311
OS-2.19.401.2
Emmc-BOOT 1024MB
Aug 13 2015,
Also on the top displays ''TAMPERED'' ''UNLOCKED''
What i tried
Tried several TWRP recovery images, no luck, (actually i tried almost every TWRP file i found out there)
Tried fastboot erase cache, no luck
(no verizon or sprint im on international carrier)
Been stuck here for many hours, any ideas ?
Thank you
(sorry for my bad english)
First....I suggest updating your firmware to the latest version.
Second, When you flash TWRP which version are you trying to flash, and what command are you using?
firmware updated, still no luck
command i used: fastboot flash recovery
versions i tried: twrp-2.7.0.1-m8 till 2.8.6.0
Still got this annoying bootloop
Use correct twrp version on correct device variant.
You can't use a M8 twrp on a HTC ONE MINI 2 device
MEM_UL = HTC ONE MINI 2
M8_UL = HTC ONE M8
im a blind idiot ! for many hours flashed wrong device twrp versions ! stupid stupid stupid
so i tried all the m4 twrp versions i found, i used 11 versions from twrp-2.6.0.0-m4 till twrp-2.8.7.0-m4
and the problem still exists, no recovery mode-jump back to fastboot menu.
But the last moment i found on a forum (can't remember which one) that: twrp-2.7.1.0-20140802-memul.img
and finally yes ... i was able to enter the recovery and finish rooting process easily !
If anyone encounters similar problem just use the above twrp, well, it worked for me !
Thank you Kyuubi10 and ckpv5 for your help !

M9 bootloop and no downlaod mode - unbrick possible?

Hi guys,
my father's M9 was on the newest ViperOne for some time now.
Now a few problems popped up:
1. If the device is turned off and you plug it in to charger, it boots into bootloader
2.booting to download mode results in "failed to boot to download mode"
3.Every ROM i install via TWRP is ending in a boot loop (The boot-animation is visible for about a second)
4. i tried other TWRP version, other ROMs and other Kernels and also wiped the complete device.
As I dont get into downlaod mode, I dont know how to recover the device to stock ROM via RUU at least.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
download RUU your correct current *os/sku number* installed version, you can find it at

you should have thanks to mr flippy498
**download adb universal driver and adb debugger or htc driver.
1. plug your phone to pc/laptop and install on** desrciptions above
2.open RUU and follow the rules and wait until finish *cafully if your cable is disconnect/unlpug or your phone force reboot by your own hands it will cause abnormal problem or your phone will never boot
I can't because, like I said, I cannot boot into download mode (black screen saying "failed to boot to download mode").

What os are you currently running? And what version of twrp are you on?
I know you've said you've installed other twrp versions/roms/kernels but to know which is most compatible, your firmware and a bit more info is needed.
I'm willing to bet it's an s-on device too.
If you can't get to download mode, what modes CAN you get it to?.
Beamed in by telepathy.
