[Q] Switching to Android 4.2 from 4.1.2

Hi,
I installed Samsung Galaxy Nexus Toolkit V9.1.0 for GSM to root my device and use Team Win Recovery Project V2.2.2.0 to install ROMs.
Currently on Official nightly build of Cyanogen Mod 10 Rom Android 4.1.2 Build JZO54K.
I want to know if I need to update anything to switch to Android 4.2 ROM or should I just download a good rom and flash it using the software?
While we are on the subject, can someone please recommend a good ROM? When will start getting Cyanogen Mod for Android 4.2?

You should update your recovery to the latest version (either CWM ot TWRP) to avoid nested "0" folders each time you flash a new rom.
Other than that, I didn't do anything else.
By the way, I'm using Cataclysm rom.

Just update your TWRP to the latest version 2.3.2.1. You can easily do that via GooManager app which you can find in the Play Store
There is no specific "good" ROM, just try then decide

like others have said use the latest twrp... and "best" rom is different for everyone so try them and see for yourself.. and cm10.1 is already out

Hi,
I have GooManager installed.... When I search for TWRP 2.3.2.1 I get 2.3.2.3 version shown as available as well. It's a zip and .img file as well. Am I supposed to just download and flash it? I mean the zip file would be flashed using the current TWRP right and it will auto upgrade?
Also, What I understand is that if I have 2.3.2.1 I can install 4.2 ROMs without having to root my phone using Galaxy Nexus Toolkit V10.1 because the screenshots shows 4.2 in it?
Also to find something I have to use search place on GooManager, isnt there a list of updated list of softwares available on it? I can see ROMs etc very neatly can be seen there but not patches like these.

Please be careful with the TWRP version as 2.3.2.3 seems to be for Nexus 4 not our GNex. Follow the following steps to download and install latest TWRP for your device (2.3.2.1):
1- Run GooManager app
2- Click on the upper right 3 dots for settings
3- Click "Install OpenRecoveryScript"
4- Confirm Recovery Install --> Yes
5- Confirm download, reboot, and install --> Yes
6- A download process will start then it will be installed
7- (Optional) Reboot into recovery to ensure that TWRP is successfully installed and working.
As far as I know, you need root for GooManager app already for many functions. I never used the GNex toolkit nor have an idea which screenshots you are referring to.
I am not sure I got your last point but if you are searching for ROMs via GooManager then it is there in the first option of the app --> Browse compatible ROMs. But honestly I have never used this so can't share you any experience regarding it.

[Q] D851, BUMP, TWRP, and Stock Lollipop Questions

Hello, I have the T-Mobile LG G3 D851 and I've been trying to find the best configuration. I came from a Nexus 5 that I would either run stock 5.x or CM 12. The CM12 for LG G3 is great but it doesn't have a good camera.
Anyway, I've come to enjoy the stock firmware that LG puts on these phones. So here's what I want to accomplish, however I feel I cannot find enough information to do it confidently.
I would like the have TWRP installed with Stock Lollipop 20b, with root.
Can I just bump a TWRP image and use flashify or something to flash it? or dd?
I installed the 20b KDZ and rooted using the one click method, and that's how my phone sits currently.
From what I understand I need to downgrade to do something with the boot.img so that I can manually flash 20b with a bumped recovery? I'm not sure what bump really is entirely. Do I need to bump all TWRP images that I install? If bump is required for the G3, do they not come pre bumped?
I know that my first go around, I had flashed TWRP with flashify, then installed CM12 without any issues. So I'm wondering if this is just for stock ROMs or did they do something to the boot in 20b that would stop anything from installing without being bump'd?
I also noticed most of the bump'd threads don't list the d851 so I'm wondering if T-Mobile doesn't require this?
Keep in mind I've searched and read extensively and cannot come up with a clear picture of what to do. I've become too used to Nexus devices it seems :-\

D851 has unlocked bootloader. You don't need bump. Just flash twrp via trwo manager or get the inage and use flashify.

How to get back to stock?

My op3 is running on cm14.1 jgcaap and I was planning to go back to OOs. I want to flash 3.2.8. Should I flash through twrp or adb side load ?

You can do either but ensure two things for avoiding a possible bootloop. One is the TWRP and the other is wiping all except internal storage before flashing the ROM.
You should have the modified TWRP 3.0.2-23.
Wipe, flash ROM and flash TWRP before booting as the existing TWRP is likely to be overwritten by the stock recovery. Speaking from experience!
Though I was going from 3.2.7 to 3.2.8, TWRP was overwritten which I found only after booting and when I tried to get back into recovery.

The reason of the existence of the modified TWRP is the inability of the original one to deal with the OOS community builds. The modified version is capable of flashing these builds.
Some older versions of recoveries have problems flashing some newer android version so you should always use the newest TWRP release out there and since the original release is a little bit outdated, the modified one is the better choice if you want to use Nougat
If you want to stay with Marshmallow then the original TWRP release would also do the trick for you (I use the original one too)

Ooohh. If i flashed the modified one, i could still be able to flash the official oos builds? I'm going to use the toolkit provided and it seems that uses the modified twrp one.

Yes this is no problem, you can flash the older builds with the modified twrp, so no worries.

No problem, but even if the modified one couldn't handle older android versions then you can always flash another twrp which works for your desired task. So if you have twrp 3.0.2-23 installed you can go back to 3.0.2-1 or even lower without any problems

Yes it does.. That's the reason I unlock the bootloader as soon as I get a new device

i was on freedom os . i am back on stock oxygen os but i have 2 issues.
1) when i got an update to 3.2.7 it showed in german that there is an update even though the language i chose was english
2) The boot animation shows the freedom os splash screen and then the boots into stock. Ihave got the boot animation of stock os but need instructions on how to flash the zip.
Can someone throw light on the above 2 issues?

Can I root update from 3.2.8 to 4.0.3?

Hi guys,
When nougat first came out, there was this huge hassle to update from a rooted op3. You needed a modified twrp etc etc. Is this still the way to update? Or can I just flash it through normal twrp? (And i suppose I have to flash supersu as well?)

The 'normal" TWRP is not fully compatible with Nougat and OP3. So you still need the modified ones. And SuperSU as well.

Hello i have oneplus 3 device and is currently running on oxygen 4.0.3 android version 7.0 with unlocked bootloader and oxygen os stock recovery. I want to flash twrp and need to obtain root. Can anyone answer what twrp and supersu version should i use with steps to do the same without bootlooping. Because i heard that it requires some modded twrp and also encryption problems are occuring for the same. Thanks in advance :laugh::good:

Download latest version of TWRP for op3 and latest supersu zip file
Use the above links
