First off, I have checked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/canadian-guide-complete-source-lg-g4-t3212449
And no, it doesn't help.
Story: I want to recover some deleted pictures and videos from a trip (about a month ago) from my internal memory. I have been quite careful and didn't install much into the internal memory since the trip fearing that it might overwrite my deleted contents.
Help: My phone has not been rooted and it has been updated to Marshmallow... I want to know if there is a way to root my phone (maybe downgrade to the 5.x version?) and recover my lost data (at least some of it) without a phone wipe? Or are there are any existing market software (I can pay) to recover the contents without rooting at all?!
I am a newbie here (both in the forum and with tech in general), so please give me any step-by-step guidance if possible.
Thank you so much for all your help in advance!!
So your phone does not boot now? As far as I know there is no way to downgrade without wiping data. If I am wrong someone please correct me.
In the future I would use a service like Google photos to auto backup your photos to the cloud. Makes life much easier.

Hello there , just bought a brand new Bell Samsung Galaxy S3 yesterday , wondering if someone wants to give me some advice on what to back up or write down or anything before i go and root my phone and start messing with it. ANY advice will be appreciated!
not sure...
Not sure what you'll need to "write down" before you start rooting. Just make sure you're really really careful and follow all the instructions for your specific device. Download exactly the right files for your device and carrier, make sure via forum comments that others are successful using your hardware and carrier. As for backups, make sure your stuff is synced and backed up with your google account under account & sync options (this will take care of most things), and if you're worried about losing texts use SMS Backup first. You can't use Titanium until you root. That said, I haven't seen a root method that will wipe anything from your device (unlike the Galaxy Nexus or other phones).
Here is the forum link for the Root method that won't trip your flash counter (according to the post it works with Bell, I have an AT&T myself):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
Again, make sure and download EXACTLY the right files for your device and carrier and follow the instructions exactly. Once you've rooted, you can run Titanium Backup, and if you choose to install CWM Recovery, you can use that to make a nandroid backup to your external SD card before each time you flash a custom ROM. Other than that, have fun!
Thanks! wanted to know if i needed to backup anything other than apps/texts before rooting , like if there was a chance to lose any of my factory bell stuff , etc
By the way , I bought the white S3 and so far like it (been 24 hours)
Ok guys, real quick. I'm attempting to recover the data that the "ever so great OTA update" deleted the other day. (4.2.2)
I'm going to attempt the Wartickler recovery which says my phone needs root access. No problem. I've rooted every other phone I own without problem. I've never rooted this phone, (I bought it rooted and unlocked) however, apparently I lost the original root access with the update as well.
I've already read about a billion guides on rooting the GNex. But I get tripped up everytime (mind you I haven't tried it yet physically) when it says "install _______ to sdcard root". Without the physical "sdcard" since its the Nexus, how can you be sure you are putting it on the root of the card?
I know it's probably a really bvious answer. I'm just really freakin' desperate right now to recover this stuff, seeing as to how it's got numerous family pictures from the last few years.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you use the path "/sdcard" you are putting the file onto what is referred to as our sdcard even though it isn't a physical, removable, sdcard.
Hi,
First I want to thank XDA and the members for everything, I'm a bit ashamed to post a question because so much information is available in the various topics and on the net.
But to much information kills the information :laugh::laugh: (power Noob inside )
I rooted my Note8 3G GT5100 N5100XXBMC8
Since a few month it randomly do an soft reboot, especially when installing or updating apps... I'm used to it but I want to sell my device, the buyer wants to keep it rooted but I have to clean it first.
Last time a made a big mistake with my rooted Note2: factory restore... at the moment I hit OK twice I knew it was a bad option
I didn't managed to unbrick it, so I'm pretty stressed to do the wrong choice.
Some are telling to make a Nandroid backup, other TWRP etc... I did the first but can't find any .img backup image to restore.
Reflashing should be the cleanest way but I'm not confident to do it, that's why I'll try to clean it by uninstalling everything, remove obsolete files: good option?
With Windows systems it should no be a problem but Android it's another world
What should I NOT do to avoid bricking my tablet?
I guess I can install a firmware for GT5100 3G 32Gb from another country or not? I'm from Belgium, what if I install one from Greece or India? Changing the language should be enough.
My device have no simlock
About language, if someone can help me in French or Dutch in PM, it would be fantastic because my english is more than basic
Or will you advice me to unroot my device?
Thank you for your patience and sorry for posting this question, I read so many topics about it with contradicting informations, I don't know what to believe...
Cheers,
Hello XDA,
My G3 got into a bootloop and I finally resorted to flashing stock ROM in order to get the phone back again. My internal memory has been wiped. Is there any way I could recover the data without complicated procedures? I saw one on XDA, and it is too complicated for my level of tech understanding. I would sell my soul if I could, to recover the data.
A million thanks.
I am getting an error when trying to use OTA. I am rooted and used NextApp SDFix to help restore write access to microSD (using it for game and their respected saves and what not)
What would the best course of action for me to take? I don't think I care to have root anymore so any instruction to possibly flash back to stock (if possible to save data would be awesome) so I can update?
Or if I didn't want to go through any of this, could I just factory reset and that would allow me to update normally?? Thank you anyone for your help!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3164765 this thread. Download the kdz for your phone. Just don't root
Forgive me to bug again, but the instructions sound like I might have root regardless, could I just uninstall root afterwards? Or should I just avoid doing step 10 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772
I did this to get root on my phone so it's familiar, I just want to make sure I get this right. Thank you for your time and patience!
Sorry, I wasn't really clear. What you need to do is download the kdz for your phone. Basically that is your non rooted system image. Then use kdz updater from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3107848 Hope this helps
Thank you, this seems to make much more sense for what I'm looking for, thank you again!
