I was making a TWRP Backup when all of the sudden my phone just randomly turns off. I grabed my phone and it was really hot. Tried turning it on, but nothing happened. Then I connected it to the ac adapter and it turned on, but it would go to the LG logo, the screen turns black then it restarts. This does not stop unless I unplug it. I had previously made two backups before and nothing like this happened, but this time I enabled conpression<-------- This must have been what caused this. All I want to know is if this can be fixed or not. If it could be fixed I would be so happy if somone could tell me how to fix this. THANK YOU. P.S. THIS PHONE IS A BEAST. D

It does not let me go into recovery, the screen goes black then restarts. All I can do is go into fastboot and Download mode.

Likely bricked. Do you have flashing notification and capacitive lights? Have you LGNPST'd? If yes to both of those questions, you're in the same predicament as I was and hopefully you have insurance, because your phone is fried.

Sprint's policy on root is to document it but not do anything about it, so they would swap it. If you're worried, I can help you restore stock firmware.

Because your phone doesn't know if it needs to be in charging mode or booting. Pulling battery will fix it.

I had a similar problem as you. Upon getting the phone I rooted and used the FreeGee app from the Google Play store to unlock the bootloader. Everything seemed fine and dandy, until one day when I let my phone's battery drain completely. Pluggin it in to a wall charger resulted in the failed boot where the LG logo flashes before going to a blank, but backlit screen. Luckily, the first few times this happened, through a combination of quickly plugging and unplugging the usb cord and holding the volume up+power button, I could get it into recovery (TWRP). Then a simple cache & dalvik cache wipe, and the phone would boot up as if nothing ever happened. Very strange.
Well yesterday this happened again, however, this time there was no getting the phone into recovery. My previous methods of button mashing and plugging and unplugging weren't working. So, I decided to bite the bullet and use LGNPST to get back to ZV7. Now, like you mentioned, this failed boot would automatically happen, without pressing the power button to turn it on. So it was difficult to get the phone to stay off. I found that with the phone unplugged, if you continue to press the power button until the blank backlit screen turns off, AND continue to hold the power button for an additional five seconds, the phone would stay off and not auto power on into the failed boot.
Once I was able to get the phone to stay off, I pressed the middle of the volume key to depress both volume up and down, and then plugged a usb cord that was attached to my computer. This powered on the phone into download mode. Following the LGNPST guide I was able to get to around 67% complete before my phone turned off and an error message flashed on the computer screen telling me to power cycle the phone and reconnect. Well, the whole 67%/85% LGNPST failure is apparently common and not indicative of an actual failure; HOWEVER, my phone became completely unresponsive. It wouldn't power on at all. It didn't matter if the usb was unplugged or connected to the computer or wall charger. So, I was forced to unplug the battery. I followed this tutorial and successfully disconnected and reconnected the battery cord, and the phone shot back to life. It even booted up into the factory stock ZV7 rom. I guess that LGNPST was successful. It looked like I was on my way to returning my phone to breezy's deodexed ZV9 stock rom that I was previously running.
I went ahead and re-rooted, ran the FreeGee app again, and rebooted into recovery. Then I made a backup and attempted to flash my new rom. Now, I think this is where I royally screwed up. I was pleasantly surprised to see my screen layout and all of my settings still intact after LGNPST back to ZV7 and thought I could just wipe the caches and ignore the factory reset and system wipe before flashing. Perhaps it was this, but part of me also thinks there might be something wrong with my battery draining extremely fast in recovery.
I proceeded to flash and all seemed good, but rebooting resulted in the LG logo failed boot that we have already discussed. So, I went ahead and repeated the LGNPST-re-root process numerous times (switching to the freegee 0.5 batch file instead of the app). Everytime after the first initial restore, I could never get my phone to enter recovery. As soon as I rebooted after using freegee, the phone would be soft bricked again. Sometimes I would get the LG logo thing, other times I would get the dreaded alternating flashing red notification light and soft keys. A battery pull was usually required in these circumstances before I could get back into download mode to start all over.
I was about ready to give up when I took to the LGOG irc channel. That's when Xboxfanj stepped in and helped me out IMMENSELY. Over the course of several hours, he walked me through flashing some partitions in ADB. At times it seemed like there was no hope and that I should have just returned the phone, but he failed to acquiesce, we pushed forth trying a couple of other bootloader options. The new bootloader appeared to have fixed the phones erratic behavior with powering on and off, but I had no rom to boot into and no recovery. Xboxfanj recommended using fastboot to flash over a recovery. Once in the new bootloader screen my Windows XP machine detected new hardware and wanted some drivers. I attempted to use the [ADB/FB/APX Driver] Universal Naked Driver 0.72, but XP indicated that I was missing 'winusbcoinstaller2.dll'.
I grabbed winusbcoinstaller2.dll from here and all was good. Fastboot recognized the phone, I was able to flash recovery and subsequently boot into recovery. From there I reformatted the system, wiped data/factory restore, wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache, and flashed breezy's ZV9 deodexed rom.
Fortunately, after around 7 hours, I am happy to say my phone is back to being rooted, unlocked, and running ZV9. It powers on and off properly and can get into recovery without a hitch. I'm still curious what will happen if I let my battery drain completely. Perhaps I'll try it some time this week. I'll be sure to post back here if/when I do that. All in all, it was a harrowing, but educational experience.
Anyway, just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to Xboxfanj! You really are the man :good:. Thanks for your patience and determination.
after i have rooted and restored the original firmware after software bricking it trying to unlock the bootloader on my E975, i restored the original software and rooted it, but it's like sometimes when i click i only get black screen on, and click again i get the phone unlocked and ready to use, and after that, it doesn't matter help much i push down the power bottom it don't come up with the menu but turn off the screen and i can battle with it for sometime and it automatically reboots.
anyone got a solution for this, i am ready to try it, bcs i am tired of having this problem :crying:
hmm it has already happened twice after i made this post.
hmm yesterday i got enough, and reflashed the original firmware E97510B_00.kdz (E97510b-EUR-xx) i downloaded it with this Application for download Original LG Firmware.
this morning when i didn't hear the alarm normally this doesn't happen, but the alarm got stuck, and after 20mins or something when i force stopped the Alarm/Clock the phone rebooted on it's own.
could it be that the Original LG Firmware program found the wrong firmware out from my phone's serial i put in?
No

so what is wrong here?
hmm no one got a solution or something I can try to do so I can get rid of this problem?

Help! I think My Xperia Play died on me! Here's what happened. It may be a long post but PLEASE bear with me. I really need your help guys! My phone was just lying around on my desk and I decided to use it and was surprised because it won't unlock. So i thought that my home button was just malfunctioning and tried to slide it's game pad as it unlocks the phone by itself but still no respond. So I thought it turned off by itself and when I tried to turn it on, it won't turn on at all because there's no short vibration. Usually when we turn on our device, there's a short vibration right? So I removed the battery, placed it back again and turned on my phone and at last there's the short vibration. But after a while I noticed that the boot splash hadn't appeared yet. I waited for a couple of minutes but still nothing happens. When I turned it on again there's the short vibration and that's it. So I searched for solutions here on XDA and on the web and I tried almost all of it. I flashed it back to it's stock firmware using Flashtool and still the same. I tried using PC Companion and Sony Ericsson Update Service but still to no avail. I also relocked it's bootloader and reflashed everything again but nothing works. So I gave up because I thought it might be a hardware issue but I didn't drop my phone or anything so i don't know what went wrong.
Then the following day I decided to check on my phone again and to my surprise it's back to normal and I was really glad about it. So I didn't flash any custom ROM and Kernels because I'm afraid that it might screw everything again. I just rooted it and completely debloated it and installed init.d support for stock kernel. I flashed CrossBreeder and RTMixManager and modified it's systemui for quick panel and battery % mod. I also flashed custom boot animation and that's it. I was happy about my phone because it seems all is well.
But yesterday when I was about to use my phone, the same thing happened again! I tried to redo everything I did all over again but still nothing! I can still use it in flashmode and fastboot though. I also tried entering CWM Recovery. After I turned on my phone I spam pressed volume down and blue LED showed up with the vibration if you enter recovery mode but there's no display. Can anyone tell me what's the problem? It might be the flex cable or the digitizer but I don't know. Has anyone encountered the same situation as mine? Please help me! I don't know what's wrong with my phone!
P.S. I can't send it to Sony Centre as my warranty is already expired. My only option is buying a new Xperia Play. Because I browsed for replacement parts on the web and they don't ship it directly to my country and it costs too much if I have it ship to me indirectly.
You have a hardware failure, I see that right now is very common, you will need to replace the automatic light sensor, to get it working, or if you don't want replace it, you will have to switch onto JB, because it has ALS disabled by default.

Did you find any solution or are blocked in recovery or flash mode?
Hey guys,
I was running blueandroid custom rom on my p6 and it was all working fine. suddenly my phone shut down and since that moment i can't find a way to turn it on further then the huawei logo. pressing all three buttons for the forced update doesn't work. and i can't get in recovery. It simply doesn't make it till that point. sometimes it shows a random color (the whole screen) but most of the time it just shuts down at the huawei logo... i also tried fastboot but it doesn't get recognized...
could anyone help me?
i'd really aprecciate it.
Are you able to use adb?
If yes, try to flash twrp recovery via ADB.
Instructions in forum thread. (I think 2nd post)

It doesnt charge ( the led doesnt turn on and im pretty sure that doesnt) and i havent been able to try adb. Its also quite strange that it wont be in a stable recovery mode ( or fastboot mode) since it turn itself off after 10/20 seconds.
getting really lost
So guys,
i'm really starting to think i need to bring mine to the service center cus it's completely dead.
it won't charge, it doens't get into recovery mode, i can't flash the official firmware with the sdcart/dload/update.app way, i can't fastboot it cus it won't go in fastboot mode (the way it get stuck on the splash screen/huawei logo), and it shuts itself down after 20 seconds leaving nothing else then a black but brightened screen.....
i'm afraid i have to take full costs due my root and custom rom, if they can fix/see it at all.
it worked fine after all and shut down with no reason what makes me think this is a hardware problem.
does anyone else have any suggestions before i bring it to the service center?
thanks
Let it charge for 24 hours, see if you can turn it on after that.

But thats's ok, this is a common android problem, but some phone must be charged for al least two days, and after that try to flash another ROM. Even if the led is not always on, let it for a long time to charge, trust me, the power will be inside your battery, not full but enough to resist/handle a new ROM flashing.

Yea i know that... But it doesnt show the led when i charge it (so the led has nothing to do with the charging state of the phone), only in some cases when i try to boot into recovery. And the battery cant actually be totally empty, it was 40% when it totally crashed so i dont think thats the problem. And if so, it should at least get to the point where it is trying to flash the original firmware

Im trying to flash it thru the sdcard with the update.app in sdcart/dload/update.app but to do that, you have to put in a certain mode (by holding vol+ and vol- and the power button) . So guys,
Im going to the service center in 8 hours since my phone is completely DEAD. It doest charge and it does not even react to the power button anymore... (Probably cus the battery is completely drained), it doesnt react to anything else either (usb, power net, anything) and will nog be able to fix by connecting it thru a computer. Aka its hopeless...
Thanks for the support
Ive been to the service center, got a new phone directly, so everything is solved. For the information, my problem was a (like i expected) hardware problem, and there was NO way to fix without replacing hardware.

Good news.
Hi, I have a Zenfone 2 550ML, and let me tell what I did and what happened to see if someone can help me.
I had flashed Resurrection Remix some days ago into this phone, and it was working well except for the GPS that was really bad (not fixing).
So, yesterday I tried to come back to stock ROM. I just booted to recovery (TWRP), and tried to use sideload to flash the zip file downloaded from the Asus support site. But, unfortunately, the process aborted due to an error (I suspect it was a fail in communication between the computer and the phone). Well, after a second unsuccessful try, the phone simply turned off.
I tried a lot to turn it on again, but the only thing that happened was a double vibration. Well, it's the battery that needs to be recharged I thought. But, when I plug it into the charger, it flashes that empty battery for some seconds, and then it starts an infinite loop vibrating twice every some seconds. It doesn't appear to be charging. The battery icon never appears like charging, and I cannot turn it on.
Please, help.

Not sure how to fix, but it was caused by using twrp to flash stock. You need to install stock recovery first. I'm not sure if Asus flash tool would help at this point. Or you may have to go the XFST route

yes, it just vibrate twice when I try to turn it on. And just black screen. It's like it was out of battery.
Yeah , use the link provided above , you are bricked
Happy learning , take your time , don't panic
guys, I would like to thank you all for the help. The tutorial worked like a charm. My Zenfone 2 is unbricked and working!
