Hi to everyone at this great website
I rooted my phone and everything has been working fine until yesterday i was trying to take pictures and was not able to take any at all and was getting an error that the evo was not able to access the sd card then I tried connecting it to my computer to see if there was anyway to access it through it and was unsuccessfull.
Please help without the files in the sd card I don't know if I can restore the phone back to factory settings if I need to return the phone
Please any one who can help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
I know this is like not helpful at this point, but I would recommend when u get this taken care of that you make a complete backup of you SD card with the nandroid backups and original restoration on a computer in case.this ever happens again. I did this and was saved when my SD card died on me. Good luck.
I bet there's a stock image out there somewhere.

Thanks for your comments, I hope other people can post other ideas as to how to recover from this problem.
Please help
Any one has any other recommendations? My problem is it doesn't detect the card at all. By the way I did made a copy of all the files the were in the SD card, but the problem is I can't copy to the SD card because it doesn't detect the card. I have even tried formating the card and that still didn't work.
Have you installed the OTA update? It was supposed to take care of this issue. Have you tried another SD card?
I just tried another card and it works then I tried the evo SD card im my blackberry and it doesn't work there either, so my conclusion is that the evo card is corrupted I can't even format it.
By the way once you root your phone I can't update unless it was the SD card problem not sure.
Thanks for your response
If you haven't installed the OTA update then I would just in case it is the problem. There is a rooted version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697636.

rooting and s-off has nothing to do with any files on your sd card, so this isnt a problem

the sd card isnt mounted until 60 - 90 seconds after device boots, so no important files relating to android are stored on the sd card

Ok, thanks for the info bro..
Hi there, first of all I must say this is such a great forum so many resources and info, amazing stuff.
Sorry for the noob question but I am planning to replace my 8gb card for a 32Gb one.
I have installed the Miui+ GTj94 V3.0 Rom how should I proceed to have it up and running, do I need to partition?
Is there any App I should install to help me with this task, and which steps should I follow?
Thanks in advance, any info help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi there,
As we all know there is an issue with moving files from internal to external storage due to implements from kitkat.
I was just wondering if there is a was a solution to this without rooting?
I am unrooted and was hoping there was a fix for it.
Thanks in advance.
ext sd

I have been looking into this, the past 3 days and from my research I could say the answer is... no.
Everything I found on the net requires root access.
On my previous phone, a Note 3, I faced the same issue and when I formated the ext sd from within the phone, the problem mysteriously went away and I had -full- access to the ext sd.
Tried it on the M8 but no luck.
Why dont you also give it a try (after backing up your ext sd ofcourse) and tell me if you had any result.
My M8 is international version by the way. No carriers.

I'm rooted but I think I remember being able to transfer files between the internal and external storage by connecting my phone to my computer and doing it on my computer. Try that if you haven't already.
yes

Yes my friend, via pc it is possible. I suppose the OP,like myself, is looking for a solution from within the phone.
Thanks.

I believe the question is: can something be done without rooting?

With the Update to 4.4.3 HTC included a file explorer to give a solution for this kitkat security feature. I already flashed the OTA to 4.4.3 aka firmware 2.22.401.4 and in fact moving files from the internal storage to sd card works with the file explorer delivered by HTC.
Hope this answer helps!?

Yes, Kitkat changes write permissions to external sd card, hence your problem. There are fixes, try this
