I have the same issue with my 200gb micro sd and i dont have a solution yet.
Thanks guys, installing now
Feel so painful. Bought 128gb sd card for nothing
I flashed Customized IT and have no problem with my 200GB memory card. Try unmounting/re-mounting?
If your card is exfat format, then i am in the same boat, i'm tinkering with the kernel to see if that's the issue.

Which 32 gb 10 class for ZL? Samsung , sandisk , sony, transcend or which? Need to buy one soon.
samsung or sandisk both are good. Just so you know the 64gb sandisk works in our ZL's
i know 64 gb works but it's too costly for me so i am going with 32gb.
juct check my sig, im using 32GB UHS1 from sandisk and work well.
Me too. Iam abt to buy a card. But im scared that the card might get corrupted. Is dat corruption problem common in ZL too?? or only in Z?
So iam thinking of buying a Sony micro sd presuming it will not get get toasted!

I concur. I've been using a 64GB sandisk since I got my ZL at the beginning of May. No problems here.

When I got the phone, I just reformatted it using the phone. I never even looked in to what extension it's using. This was on 4.1.2, and it read it as 64GB then, though I believe the new update says it NOW allows 64GB. I just copied the card onto my computer, reformatted the card, and then put everything back on it. No problems up to this point, though I've only been using 4.2.2 for a few days.
I just picked up a 32gb Sandisk Ultra UHS-1 for it. (64gb was pretty spendy and far more than I really needed) I hope this was a good choice on my part, but judging by the comments it should be fine. I should have my Xperia ZL on Wednesday and will report back how it works out. (Just ordered it, got free overnight shipping)
I am using SanDisk 32 GB UHS-1. Just reformatted it with phone to see, what file system is used with new firmware. It is formatted in FAT32 by default. No problems so far.

Bought Sandisk 32GB 10 class 1-2weeks ago and it's working without any problem. :good:
Whatever you do, be wary of corrupt/mislabeled SD cards!
When you get your SD Card, always first check it out with a tool like H2testw or Check Flash and make sure that the reported size (32GB, 64GB) is indeed the actual storage capacity.
I once bought a 16GB flash drive that could only store 8GB of data; exceeding this 8GB would corrupt the data on the drive. H2testw proved that cheap deals online usually come with a price...
Hi there.
I'm having problems with the SD card, is always unmounting with no apparent reason...
When I'm on the Album (or gallery) and I scroll trough the photos (I've got a few) the card is unmounted and I need to take it of, and put it back in...
While I'm copying files from the PC to the card (trough the phone) the same thing happens...
The card is a sandisk class 10 32Gb... it was used on my SGS2 and never had any problem...
Does it worth to buy another card, or someone else is having the same problems?
I think this is a problem with your sd card. I don't have any problem like that.
Can you please tell me what card do you have?
I have already formatted the card on the pc and on the phone, the result is the same...
Weird problem, I own a Goodram 32 GB Class 10 micro sd card and I haven't got any problems with it. You say that you have tried formatting the card. What format have you chosen? Have you tried reset to factory reset your device? Are you on some custom rom or the stock one? Do you have a possibility to check wheter the problem exists with other micro sd card? Perhaps you can borrow it from someone for a moment or you have another one somewhere. Worst case scenario the card port could be damaged.

I have a Kingston microSDHC 32GB, Class 4 :good:
Hi,
I'm sure that's an issue with your sd card. I've had the same issue with my old SGS3 and an SanDisk 64GB sd card. Then I bought a new Kingston 64GB sd card and it works.
I formated in FAT and in FAT32, same result in both.
Im in the stock ROM, totally unchanged.
I already get a new card and I'm testing it now, if it stills get me troubles I will try the factory reset.
Yeah... that is my fear... that the port is defective or something like that
Ok, updating from the previous post.
I've bought another SD Card and although that on the first time that I used it on the phone, it gave me the same behavior, after formatted it on the phone itself, so far so good.
I've tried the old SD Card with an adapter on the pc, and it works fine, no problem at all... so it must be something specific to the phone, I've read that some Samsung are a SD card eaters, so I believe that the problem is related to that (my previous phone was a SGS2).
Thank you all for the tips.

Not necessarily.
Card of class 4 may be good enough for your computer, specially if it is older too, but may be too weak for newest modern phone.

An SD card can't be 'too weak'

I had a SanDisk 64gb card that I was using with KitKat that stopped working after upgrading to Lollipop. I thought that maybe that issue was caused by not unmounting the card before the upgrade.
I then purchased a PNY 64gb card from Amazon and the behavior is the same, the OS will not recognize the card so I can't mount it. I do have a 32gb card that works fine. Anyone seeing this problem with their G Pad?
It would help if you told us what ROM you are running.
If it's a 64GB card, it's probably formatted exFAT, and your variant of Android 5.0 probably doesn't recognize that.

Running stock 5.0, rooted, with Sleek kernel. Prior to the upgrade, was running stock 4.4.2 rooted.
64gb cards, as stated in OP.
Edit: Working after a format to fat32. I hadn't thought that was necessary because I didn't have to do it on KK with the same card.
Interested in this phone for the specs, and the fact it has root...xposed etc...
Does this phone support and work with 128GB micro sd card.
Was looking at a 32/64gb model in Red.
Hello, this is ASUS_USA. Zenfone 2 model ZE551ML Micro SD Card slot supports up to 64GB
Yes, I am using the Lexar 128 633X in the 551ML 4/64
Here is a picture of the card and the phone.
You should be able to use any sdxc card as the 64gb card is sdxc... If a 512Gb sdxc micro sd card came out you would be able to use this...
And yes I have tested a sandisk 128Gb micro sd card in my xenfone 2...
I am using the Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML (4GB RAM, 32GB ROM) and can confirm that a Sandisk 128GB MicroSD card works fine . Mine is formatted with FAT32; i am not sure whether ExFat would be supported as well.

exFat is and OTG USB sticks work fine too... I have a 64Gb OTG card that was working brilliantly with it earlier, shame a friend wanted to borrow it cos I was gonna load it with stuff to do at work tonight...
Looks like Im going to have to pick up a 128gb sd card soon. Thanks for comfirming this since I was wondering the same thing for my Zenphone 2.
I'm running a Patriot 128GB microSDXC myself.
By the way, whats the best type of external microsdcard to use?
Do we need to be choosy in buying??
)))

I always like a good ol' SanDisk
I'm just gonna add a little bit more here, You need a FAT32 formatted sd card for firmware updates if you are doing it manually and haven't rooted yet. The stock recovery won't recognise an exFAT formatted card (which is what most 128gb sd card are formatted) so when you put the update file on your card your card won't be recognised by the recovery.
Rooted with latest TWRP recognises card fine...
In anyone wants to know, I'm using a PNY 128GB card (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OP2P0ZO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00).
Stock everything. No issues with the ZF2 recognizing the card or accessing.

Seems like a lot are testifying that 128gb is working with their Zenfone 2. My question is will prolonged use of 128gb sd cards have any problem in the future?

Pretty sure you can't have any more info than what's currently available. The phone's only been available for a few months, that's as long as testing with 128GB exFAT or FAT32 will indicate stability for. Card size has no impact on a phone's microsd reader, just like sock size has no bearing on the size of a person's genitalia
FWIW I got a 128GB exFAT a week ago and haven't had any issues. If your phone has issues reading any card, it'll typically have trouble reading every card. Special exception is for devices that software/hardware don't support larger than 32gb, exFAT or Class UHS1 speed cards. Your Zenfone2 supports greater than 32gb, exFAT, and Class UHS1.

Our only choices for backups using ASUS backup are internal device or SD card. If we can only use up to 64GB, some backups might not work if they are larger than that (apps and data) or close to that in size.
With unlocked bootloader and root I have no problem accessing the exFAT 128gb sd card even while using TWRP recovery.
Not sure if the newer roms support exFAT or I have a magical Zenfone 2 but it did an OTA update with the OTA file on the sd card ... No renaming of the file was needed...

Mine (I think) is formatted FAT32 and works fine. It's just you cannot have any individual files over 2GB in size.
EDIT: Never mind. I just checked via mount command and it is listed as "texfat". Guess I didn't reformat from when I bought the card.
exFat doesn't seem to be readable at all!! Can it be converted to FAT 32?? Thanks.
Sorry if this was asked previously, I recall that the maximum SD card memory support was something like 32GB on a Xperia ZL.
Will the upgrade to Lollipop allow support up to 64GB? I have a 64GB SDXC microSD format card which I would like to use on the phone. Thanks for any update...
Yes, 64GB Cards works.
