Not sure at what point it happened, but I cannot find any radio stations anymore. Have tried clean ROM install but still the same. Took the unit apart and it seems the inner core wire for the antenna cable to the motherboard is not connected as can be seen in the photo. Should this be connected? And if so, where to?
Unit is a MTCB KGL.

What did you do when you lost the radiostations? To me the coax looks like the WiFi-antenna. Your radio-antenna input is below and it should be connected to the box to the left.
I've seen a few times when you been wiggling the antenna-connector too many times problems inside antenna input connector. Look inside the antenna- connector and verify the the end pin of your antenna- cable really touches the mid-connectors inside. They normally look like three triangular shaped metal leafs.
That's the antenna disconnected from the female socket as you suggested. Hard to tell from the photos, but you might be easier to fix if you desolder the pcb mount female connector. Once you have the connector free you can fix the connection from the coax to the female connector. Like I said its hard to tell how much room you have to play with.
Right I've sorted it. The coax was WiFi as @halloj suspected.
I checked the connection with radio antenna connected and was a tight fit with good connection. Started thinking about what I had changed recently and remembered I had upgraded my MCU among with malaysk's latest ROM. After downgrading my MCU I now have radio back again. Thanks for the responses

Lately, i've not been getting any GPS fix. I've tried the conventional way, putting pressure on the antenna cap, and using several apps. nothing worked.
On youtube i saw a way to pop off the cap of the GPS antenna and flashlight.
When i opened it, it looked like this:
2 black spots on the contact!
What's that? fried? so that's the reason for no connection at all?
so what next?
1: a blob of solder on it?
2: connect it with a wire between the 2 springs?
3: buy a new cap?
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Where do you see black spots on the contacts?
And if you had black spots on the contacts, the electronics would probably be fried too.
well, its not visable on the photo but in the circles is definitly a black spot!
here it show's up as grayish :S

dont worry, its not fried.
the black spots are the normal signs of wear.
i (and many others) have/had the same problems.
some soldered wires between the 2 golden springs.
another thing you can do is lift the golden springs just a bit, so that they make better contact with the antenna cover. but thats not permanent and in a few weeks, you will have to do it again.
i just put a (little) blob of solder on each contact of the cover.
be careful if you do this. the golden traces of the antenna are just painted on and you burn them really quickly, so best just put a bit of solder on the tip of your iron and briefly touch the contacts, because they are so thin and warm up really fast, the solder should flow over quickly.
Ok, I'll try that, if not, i just order a new antenna cap
I'll keep you posted if it works or not!
So I successfully replaced the lcd on my optimus G...unfortunately I unknowingly broke the battery connector during the process (the female part soldered to the board).
Took me a while to realize what was going on, the phone was heating up and turning off randomly.
Anyway, it looks like the rightmost solder pad has lifted away from the board and the battery connector. Be REALLY careful when removing this thing people!
By chance does anyone here know where I might be able to jump this connection to? This solder pad seems to go nowhere - or at least not that I can see.
Thanks

hey u ever fix this issue? I have the same problem right now. Fixed the screen broke the battery connector lol.
I did not. Gave up and ended up getting a new board and giving it back to the owner. Wish I would have tested the new one before I gave it back. Perhaps there is a jumper we could have used.
Did you break the same pad?

No, you need the entire motherboard if you want them back... however i would try to solder them

No need to change motherboard. I did the same when I opened my HOX and broke them.
What I did to repair was that I went to a simple phone service and soldered Nokia pins connector and as a result I got even much better connection.
Try it and see.

i tried a few things, soldering new pin, cable and etc. it's a little better for now, but just a little.
The charge port on my phone went bad and needed to be replaced. The replacement went smoothly but now it I have no bluetooth or wifi antenna. I get maybe 1 bar indicated if I am a few feet from a wifi hub and bluetooth isn't working at all. I thought it might be something to do with the new charge board so I replaced it again with the same results. If anything it might be even worse now. Any tips on what I should be looking for that is wrong?
Sounds like you broke one thing fixing another . If it's physical damage you need to go backwards and check all your steps and see what happened.
If software issue try reflashing modem.
Pp.
I found the problem and it, which is a simple one, The fix though I think is going to be difficult. A very, very small capacitor is missing from the board. I must have hit it during the charge board change. If I knew the value of the cap I could probably solder a new one on. I have no idea how to find that out though. Here is a picture of the missing part.

A lot of internet digging has turned up the spec on the missing cap-
Samsung part #2203-006665
0.0022NF,0.25PF,25V,C0G,0603, C-CER,CHIP
That particular number is out of stock everywhere but I was able to find an equivalent from DigiKey.com
Samsung #CL03C2R2BA3GNNC
Digi-Key #1276-1403-1-ND
I bought 10pcs @ 2 cents a piece.
Good luck with the soldering,
In case that doesn't work for you maybe this will work for you.
Pp. Lol
Soldered in the microscopic capacitor yesterday and phone is back to 100%!
ok so i wanna add another charging port out the back for my in dash vehicle install. can anyone tell me how to add another charger without soldering into the micro usb port? i tried checking the pins on the back cover to see if any of them was apart of the qi charging and if so i would of just soldered into the pins on the mobo to the qi connection. but fot the life of me i cant figure out what ones are the charging for the qi as i cant find any voltage on them. unless im missing something? i attached a picture showing the pins i tried testing. they would be easiest if i just knew what one was positive/negative.
can anyone tell me where to solder in wires for another charging connection that isnt at the micro usb connector at the bottom? (i cant use that as the pins are just way to damn small for my soldering skills.)

quick update i found this, i found this image and it looks like the leads from the coil goes to the left of the cover but yet when i check for voltage when qi charging it doesn't show anything...
Why wouldn't you just use the wireless charging functionality that is already built in? Mount the charging pad behind it in the dash. I've seen a few people doing dash installs this way and it works great.

already tried that it works good until the tablet is fully charged, it quits accepting a charge until i unplug the qi charger or pull it away from the tablet and replace it.
