please note i did the video with my LGG3, i hope it came out ok, if not i am working on getting the software so that i can make a nicer video so bare with me
if you like what i do, please like my video, subscribe and share
Enjoy

Nice video! So why would I want to make a zip vs using adb to flash the system.img?
Convenient, no PC required to flash it, and FlashFire can clear the caches for us.
Did you use FlashFire v0.24?
Dalvik VM & Cache.... What it is and how to pronounce it. I learned something too! And now you'll know how to say it for your next video

thanks, i am playing with some new software so i can make my movies nicer.
i guess why you want t make a zip is because its smaller, someone in the post wanted a video so i made it. if you want to just use the system.img and flash it the old school way, then go for it
yes i used flashfire 0.24 and i will not upgrade it, i did it one time and was unable to flash anything for my exposed so i said screw it
thanks i was having problems with the word so thank you for the help.
glad the video helped and please like and subscribe if you have any questions feel free to ask

LCD density changer keeping my evo from booting

First of all, I am sorry for posting this here, but I am kind of in a bind, and hope someone can help me out..
EVO, rooted with new unrevoked, running stock everything, on a mac
I downloaded and installed LCD Density Changer today, and changed my number form 240 to 200, as everyone suggested.
When I rebooted, my boot screen started, but then the display went blank, and I keep hearing the Sprint music, but the phone's display wont come up..
I can get into recovery mode, so I am thinking of just doing a wipe data/factory reset, and starting all over, which wont be a problem, since I am all backed up.
someone suggested doing an ADB push, but I am on a mac, and cant find detailed instructions on how to do that..
Can someone give me a idea on which way to go?
I am fine with wiping data/factory reset, if it gets my phone started again..
Again, sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, but I know there are some great people here that will give me some direction
thanks so much!
i don't know what this has to do with development... but restore the backup that you made before you did the patch. didn't backup? wipe.
yup... no back up... shame on you..
your only choice is to wipe.
i dont know why people use this app, just edit the build.prop file yourself with rootexplorer or what ever app you have that can browse and edit the phones files.
Depending on what ROM you're running, you may also have to option of simply flashing it again without wiping. This would revert your build.prop and keep your installed apps and settings provided the updater-script in the ROM doesn't format /data/. I would try this before you go all out and wipe everything.
I really recommend you get ADB set up.
good news; got it to work with a zip file that a great member of this board gave to to flash; sorry if this post was placed in the wrong spot, and mods you are welcome to delete /lock it now..
BTW, doing a nandroid backup IMMEDIATELY!
you guys are the best, and SHAME on me for not doing that the minute I was rooted...

[TOOLS] SuperWipeG2(+) and Guhl's EFS GPS fix

Pretty straight forward set of tools here:
Admin Edit: These files are removed at the OPs request and are available via his own website.
Flash desired zip from recovery. Hope you made a nandroid backup.
vision_wipe_efs repackaged with permission from guhl source and license can be found in the zip files.
Why superwipe?
Sometimes using the built in format options in CWM dont work. The motivation behind creating the tool was that i was having serious bootlooping issues that couldnt be solved from flashing/formatting/etc from recovery. No matter what i did i would boot up and be greeted with a hundred force close messages and a hard reboot. it sucked. flashed the superwipe, restored my backup and was up and running in no time. This uses recoveries built in format command as well as the erase_image binary to complete destroy the partitions, reformat them and check the filesystems afterward. a log is then saved to /sdcard/superwipe.log
If anything, this is a great one click wipe tool for a complete wipe between roms, or to troubleshoot.
vision_wipe_efs wipes the mmcblk0p13 and mmcblk0p14 partitions and has been shown to fix the broken GPS for almost all users experiencing gps loss. the binary is to ensure no errors while typing dd commands which can cause device death. vision_wipe_efs was written and compiled by xda member guhl.
All three zips are safe and working.
YES ohsaka/ezterry released a superwipe for the g1, YES this zip is basically doing the same thing.
I didnt use any of ohsaka's superwipe.sh code, nor did use any binaries from his superwipe. Instead i use the built in erase_image and e2fsck that are already in CWM recovery. It isn't a rip-off, it is what it is, a superwipe tool for the g2. sue for me for using built in command in an open source environment and using a name with no copyright... idiots.
TROLLS: you're annoying, you contribute nothing. they have a name in biology for something that constantly feeds and never returns. Cancer. Please go back under your respective bridges unless you have something of value to offer.
Take a moment and thank guhl: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028405

WOW. straightforward but SO helpful. typing these commands in (for those of us, like myself, who have also had issues with CWM actually formatting what it says it's formatting) gets tedious after the 50th time.
FANTASTIC!!!

This isn't the same type of suprerwipe as the g1. As a matter of fact it's completely different. I think what derek was refering to was that the name superwipe implies that it wipes everything, which it doesn't, and is also a rip-off name of xda user ohsaka's superwipe, which can clearly be seen here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834812. Not to say the gps thing isn't working since I can't test it. Yes I relize this one is for the g2 ect, but at least come up with your own name for it.

I see him mentioning both Ohsaka and Ezterry in this post. Perhaps you would have him move these credits to the OP? Or would you rather him call this tool AmazingGWipe? It seems a similar tool to the one used on the G1 but not the same. So are we being constructive in our criticism or just giving this guy grief for making a usefull tool (grant it some will argue its usefullness - hey here's an idea... don't use it). Ok back to topic. Thanks.
SuperWipeG2 is an original name anyway.
This is a free tool on a free forum right?
But sue me too you'll still get what I put in it... nada.

Oh don't get me wrong, superwipe is a great name and all it's just not very original. As far as the funtionality of it I won't comment much on that since I don't have a g2 to test it on, and amazingglaay is not even the original one who compiled these, as it clearly states on the OP. But yes credit to ezterry or ohsaka in the op would be the right, thing to do, but people don't always do the right things...

That's actually a good question. I'm going to partition a card real quick, koush *should* have fixed that. If it all goes well, I'll just go ahead and add the function to erase that partition as well.

With 1GB of internal space for applications I don't see the need for apps2sd ... so I don't care about wiping a imaginary ext partition
Great tool man! New to g2 and happy that we have this tools available, just wished we had something like this over at the epic thread and don't worry about trolls. People are always going to bash you for some reason or the other. Make you just want to pull the app and screw eveyone but that wouldn't be fair to all the other user who enjoy your work, thanks.

thanks a lot for this makes my life much easier as selecting all the menus in cwr with the trackpad is tedious at best.
is wiping the efs partions (GPS/Radio data cache) safe, i mean can it/should it be done everytime i change roms or do a wipe
Thanks for your excellent work. Your scripts always work great!
On a side note, is there an easy way to format the SD-EXT? I still haven't found a good way of doing it other than using GParted on a computer or just formatting the whole SD card in CWM.
thanks.
that's what i am looking for.

Xperia Arc S - Help With Install Cm9

Hello everyone,
im new in this forum, and two devices with android, the first is the "asus transformer prime" and the second is a new cellphone - Sony Xperia Arc S - and this is the problem.
I really dont like what sony do the android, the interface, beside iam very familiar with standart ICS in my "Prime" so i search a bit and found some posts about Cyanogen 9 (talking about performance ans stuff), but in that same posts i read that CM9 is only for "Xperia Arc" not "xperia arc S" and i need to use some external "kernell" to be loaded.
My questions are:
What i need to do to install CM9 at "arc s"?
What the procedures?
I need a external "kernel" or just extract the zip (cm-9.1.0-anzu.zip) and get the *.img ?
What is the easyest method to install it?
Can send me a easy guide to do it?
and finally. it will work in portugal? with the operator TMN?
Can someone post the link for one guide to do the install, that actually works?:fingers-crossed:
Thanks in advance for the answers
If i can make a clean and smooth install, for sure i will donate
(sorry my english)
p.s- i know they are a lot of posts about this, but is because that i cant find my way through they.
Install instructions:
1. Flash kernel (fastboot flash boot boot.img)
2. Install a Recovery (there are some around this forum)
3. Wipe (only required 1st time)
4. Flash Rom
5. OK!!

1 - this kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520654) with this room (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526717)
or
2 - this kernel (FXP128, by FreeXperiaProject) (come people say works fine) whit this room ( http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=anzu&type=) cm-9.1.0-anzu.zip
please advice,,
Thanks everyone
Hi all!
Hi!
to flash the kernel you'll need to do it via Fastboot. There are some guides in this section to help you get CWM recovery easily, but if you're a noob like me I'd give try to Flashtool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000012).
It's a little program that helps you out flashing kernels, roms and some other joyful gift from xda...
Try it out and let me know!
For the ROM/Kernel choice if you want a clean AOSP (android stock) experience go with the FXP CM9 or AOKP (for a little more customization)... If you browse the "Android Development" section you're going to find plenty about it and in the related thread you'll find some help with kernel choice!
I actually am on JJ's Hybrid Rom with ArcKnight kernel, it's based on Sony's firmware but looks like aosp (I don't like the CM9 camera) and it's really smooth!
Cheers and let me know if I helped you out! :fingers-crossed:

Hi ,
I believe you
Really helpfull man, i take a look at your description and look really nice room.
And i even have a option to install it with "Locked Bootloaders"(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673489) so if someting goes wrong i can restore the phone with Sony software (SEUS).
Can you tell me if this are the files you use? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1537717) you apply the patch too?
Im really happy with your feedback (i can see now some light at the end of the tunel)
To finish i have just one more litle question. is about the "baseband".
I am im Portugal and my phone is under TMN phone line. do you know if this rooms works fine? (i suppose it works because you can update too official ICS before start installing JJ's Hybrid Rom, but can you confirm this?) my thought is correct?
Best regards, and thanks for the reply.
Yeah that's the thread!
I applied the patch but it works just fine as it is, even without it!
baseband should be no problem, the problem is combination rom/baseband and not baseband/network (dunno if I can explain myself, sorry about it).
In other words, if your phone is on ics .431 stock and you flash this, you'll get the same baseband and everything's gonna work out!
I unlocked my bootloader so I'm not familiar with that kind of install but it should be even easier.
Let me know if you need any help about it, I hope we are not going too much OT!
Happy to help!

Nice :good:
i understand what you try to explain about baseband. no worry
dont know yet if i install this room by "unlocked bootloader" or "locked".
The Locked version have some vantages right? if i want to go to stock ics i can keep update the cellphne by Sony software. But im wondering, how many time the sony will update this phone? maybe not much,,because already listen someone say it will no get jellybean official update, so im really think in "unlock bootloader".
about the patch, how apply the pacth? right after instal the room, or reboot a couple of times them instal the patch?
by the way can you send me a link with the method to install it? dont want to mess with the room itself.
Thanks for all the support , really appreciate :highfive:
well,
I think this thread is the best if you need some guidance, I don't think I'd be better that this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653188
Anyway if you unlock your BL, I'd proceed like this afterwards:
-backup all the things you need to keep from your phone because you're gonna delete all the data!
-download Flashtool, install all the drivers inside the drivers folder after the install, launch it and try to get your phone in "fastboot mode" (click on the lightning and select fastboot, then pick the button that suites you better )
-download the kernel you chose and flash the img by pressing "flash kernel img" in the fastboot menu (you may need to flash wifi modules later, so download them and put them inside your sd card
-download the .zip file of the rom you chose and put it inside your sd card
-ALWAYS DISCONNECT YOUR PHONE FROM CABLE BEFORE YOU TURN IT ON, not always, but sometimes it makes android crash
-turn on your phone and keep pressing volume down till you get to recovery
-select "wipe data/factory reset", "wipe cache", go to "advanced" and select "wipe dalvik cache"
-select "install...." (second option in the main menu) and then install from sd card and pick the ROM file...
-after the flash is over, do the last step again and select the WIFI MODULES
-reboot to system, check if everything's working, if you want to apply the patch (in JJ's rom case) turn off your phone, get to recovery again and install the related zip...
Anyway I hope I'll not be held responsible if your phone is gonna explode, mine didn't!
Good luck!

Hi, once again THANKS for this mini tutorial
No worry you will not be responsible if my phone meltdown , i know flashing is always a little risky, but if something goes wrong most of the time only need to rooting again e flash it. (little chance of burning literally the phone, only if doing insane overclocks), beside i try the "locked bootloade" first so, i think is even easier to restore factor ICS if something bad happens.(hope not) :fingers-crossed:
-when you install the patch, you don't clean cache or something? just install?
-about the hifi modules, i should install it or only if my wifi not work?
in my work days i don't have time to do this procedure but in weakend i want apply this. Really lov the stock ICS look, not that changed version of sony (i mean, is pretty, but don't like)
Thanks for all the help.
I didnt wipe cache or dalvik when I applied the patch... Wifi modules are linked with the kernel you choose, so if you dont flash them, wifi won't work...so "yes" is the answer in any case! let me know if everything works out!

You'll have more system space, probably your phone will be smoother and stable.
Anyway, IMHO:
-change kernel if you're looking for performance improvement, overclocking/undervolting or some particular feature
-change rom if you find some features you'd like/need that are not inside the stock one or if you want to customize it.

Speaking in root, do you have some thoughs about this? http://www.unlockroot.com/, to rooting the phone? (i am in ICS 4.0.4 - 4.1.B.0.431)

How to flash d2spr Lollipop Roms on the d2lterefreshspr (SPH-L710T Tri-Band Model)

1st let me just say I'm not a developer at all just someone who enjoys custom roms as much as everyone else here! I'm not very good at explaining things so please try to bear with me and try to understand this the best you can! If any real developers read this please help us by adding support for our device and if any developers can explain this better please do so! For anyone with the d2lterefreshspr (SPH-L710T Tri-Band) wanting to flash almost any Lollipop Roms made for the d2spr you can flash them! You might 1st have to unzip the rom and go to the updater-script and delete the 1st part where it checks the recoveries build to see if your device is the d2spr or the d2lte and so on. Then repack the rom back into a zip file the flash it in recovery as you normally would. Then once the Rom boots you won't have a baseband or service or anything but I will tell you why and how to fix this. The d2spr's modem-image file are labeled different from our modem! At the bottom of this I will show you the list of each modems links so you can see which 1s are different and what you have to delete and resymlink to get the Rom to reconize your baseband and get your service working! But using a file manager with root access navigate to the files in "/system/etc/firmware/ " and delete the wrongly symlinked modem-images! Once you have done that navigate to "/firmware-mdm/images/" folder and start symlinking the correct files to "/system/etc/firmware/" folder. After this you might want to modify the buid.prop and change all parts that say d2spr to d2lterefreshspr but only if you want. Once you have done this reboot to recovery and flash the Lte apn fix zip then reboot. Now everything should work with service and everything! I have tried this on the latest SlimLP 5.1.1. Beta and A..I.C.P. Lollipop and a few other Lollipop Roms for the d2spr. If you would like to download some of the Roms I have modified the updater-scripts so they will flash on our device and the APN zip I flash with a flashable build.prop I have already modified just send me a message and I will send you a link to my drive account. I'm trying to create a zip we can flash in recovery that will delete the wrong symilinked files and symlink the correct files to help save us the trouble of this process and for people that don't know how to create a symlink file! But as I stated I'm not a developer so I might be able to but if any developers that could help us by creating 1 for us please please feel free to do so and let us know! But take a look at the 2 lists of symlinked files and delete the necessary files and create the new symlinks that our device needs! If the files show the correct symlinks on 1st boot but you still don't have service click on the symlinks and view its details and you will see it'ssymlinked to the wrong files. Just delete all symlinks and create the correct new 1s.
Example of the d2spr modem symlinked images are:
symlink("/firmware-mdm/image/dsps.b00", "/system/etc/firmware/dsps.b00");
symlink("/firmware-mdm/image/dsps.b01", "/system/etc/firmware/dsps.b01");

For anyone unsure about creating the symlinks I have a very simple zip file to flash in recovery to delete the bad symlinks and make the right 1s! I have tested on SlimLP, A.I.C.P., Exodusand Pac-Man d2spr Roms. It will not mess up anything on your S3! It only does as stated. If you wanna check it its all in the script-updater. Just flash this after flashing a d2spr Lollipop rom and if you are also confused on modifying the script-updater for the rom so it will flash on the d2lterefreshspr then just flash the TWRP 2.8.7.0 recovery from TWRP's website and you wont have to worry about changing it!

Hey man this is great! This opens up a whole new world of wonders for this device. You have any idea how I can fix having to manually select apn after each reboot?

well, come to find out flashing octos, made for triband,,,,who knew, not me until today, anyway, its very easy. haha probably easier than ANYTHING i've done up to this point. i dont remember how much i've told you but the triband that i was fighting with so much may have had a problem from the very beginning. getting into recovery continually got harder and harder until it just wouldn't go. i tried about 8 times and it completely died. i mean its dead.im sad for that. that drops me to one sph-l710 with a crumpled usb and so i have to charge it wirelessly which is cool but its fragile. so ive got another refurb triband which im about to flash. WHY? ill be damned if i know why. this phone is rooted and cleaned out and runs beautifully. but, i want more. i guess or im just stupid which by reading this i may be. ill let you know.

Will this zip work for KK roms too? Or is it only Lollipop? I'm willing to test it out but I just want to be sure that I won't brick my S3 since I can't afford a new phone right now.

Yes it should work and no flashing it wont brick ur device at all! Nothing is flashed or installed it only deletes the wrong symlinks and creates the correct ones!

its about time you showed up again. i thought like these other senior members that once you dealt with the senior citizen with debatable alzheimer's you had fled the country also. hehe man i don't know. on my other triband i had no music at well, no sound at all, none. and i had no cell service. now everything works except the bluetooth on the music. as soon as i boot it up the music locks up. its weird. i was just prepping my phone to go back to stock. i think these tribands are better stock with the bloatware removed and not too much of that. ya, i spend alot of time with my file manager. have you tried total commander? its great. you get it from gizmos freeware. im just getting to know it but i have it on the computer and its pretty good.

I just flashed the final d2lte CM11 snapshot and your zip file, and it worked! After flashing everything the ROM runs super fast and runs wonderfully! So far as I can tell everything works perfectly. Camera, SMS and MMS, GPS, Mobile Data, and Screen Rotation all work perfectly. My steps for flashing were:
Modify Updater-scripts file to remove device checking
Wipe system, dalvik and cache, and data.
Flash CM11 snapshot
Boot to system
Reboot into recovery and flash Gapps and APN fix (I'm on virgin mobile)

I never liked CM myself! I prefer Slim or S.O.K.P. Roms more then any other! You can use alot of the non triband roms kernels and tweaks but just not the bootloaders or modems!

guess what? my second triband died last night. just running, fine. so, went to turn it on and it wouldn't come back on. is there any kind of a reset for the samsungs thAT I DONT KNOW ABOUT? the exact same thing happened with the other triband i had. so i take the phone back to the store and they give me another triband, they said. so i get it home and looked at it and immediately knew that it wasn't a triband. it was the original sph-l710 that i bought", to begin with. these guys dont know what they are selling. id like to complain but to who? this is truly a beautiful phone wit the brushed blue metal look and its one of the "grade A" refurbished phone so i guess maybe i have faith that this one will work.however im a little short on faith right now.
Wow! Good luck man. Honestly, if I had to choose I'd want the original one over the tri-band.

ill tell you what, when it ran it ran very well. so what i want to know is tell me what you would do with this phone rom wise and maybe point me where to go get it. also i need all the stock files in case i have to flash this. this phone is very easy to fix. way easier than the triband but those had the same problem and i didn't know it until they up and died. so, if you have a minute. i've got all rooted. i've got selinux fixed and so, ....what is the latest liquid out there? by the way i watch the tide religiously. have for years. i also just noticed your logo. are you part of octos? ah, i think i saw your name. so i had octos on my triband when it died but i didnt have bluetooth on music. it worked on phone. tell me how to set up octos. man i liked it but i have to have that bluetooth music. how do i fix that?
rom flashing

Since you're not on a triband just flash the d2spr build, not the d2refresh build. You can run xposed on our ROM if you wish. We always recommend a clean flash, especially if coming from stock or any other ROM. Even if its Oct-L to Oct-M. ??

In the OP I had the ADB_Root_G930U_QE2Files.zip linked to the ADB_Root_G935U_QE2Files.zip zip so please make sure you have the ADB_Root_G930U_QE2Files.zip when downloading. Its fixed in the OP now so just double check
Wonderful. Can't thank you enough. Installed and setting up.
I recommend everyone put the Flashfire AP zip and Rom Zip on your internal storage as the AP file is so large that it may not be read properly do too limitations of some SD Cards. When you select AP file in Firmware there should be 4 partitions that are selected. If not then you have a bad download or need to have AP file on internal storage
Can this ROM be subsequently rooted?

Did LTE work ok for you
Since only 2 people between this and edge thread. Have even tried it's obvious there is zero interest over here at AT&T for Rom development. I probably won't waste anymore time

I figured it would be worth it since AT&T people are on my Verizon thread a lot trying to flash that and it's not even for their phones and especially now that there is a way to have custom Rom without using engboot or root. People ask my why I don't make Sprint or AT&T roms well this is why. I was even going too make this rom and use AT&T firmware so everything worked
Hello. I know this forum is not as active as the Verizon thread for this mod, but I did have a question if anyone is willing to answer.
I was wondering what the process is for using adb to make an application a system app?
I saw others talking about doing this in the Verizon thread, as well as several posts mentioning a guide for how to do this without needing to root. I looked over several pages in the Verizon thread for how to accomplish this, but could only find bits and pieces scattered through several different pages. I probably didn't look hard enough, but I was wondering if someone could explain the process that works with this ROM.
Thank you.

The threads not inactive I just can't seem to get any feedback or participation so it makes it hard too want to spend time for nothing. For your question. Adb method only works on my nonrooted roms

Hey, I love this rom. It only took one time to finish
I have had issues with system where I would make edits using rom control and system would fail, I will try all your roms , I have been waiting for something on 7.0, very stable and fast!, would be glad to try betas
Omigawd I love this! I did end up rooting so as to modify string to give me data toggle. Working amazingly well. You are a hero. Everything seems to be working flawlessly. I am sure to mess something up though as I love to play.

Is WI-FI Calling not working for you
I guess my aggravation with running like butter on the original root process for a while, then taking a nose dive out of no where, re flashing, re rooting, editing build props, re editing build props, re flashing,...blah, blah, blah...I kind of over looked these roms. I mean, I had to rooted. Period. Been rooted on U using the 2.82 SU with tweaks (I think you tweaked it jrkruse?) for a good while, then out of no where, it crashes. Its crazy. I was just about to flash back to stock, and I saw this thread. Kanged or not (or whatever you said in another post on a different thread..lol) this is to cool. I got it going just before I had to go work this afternoon so I didn't get to mess with it much, but the fact that all the bs is gone, is enough for me. All I want is a choice of what to put on my phone. Definately have that now. Nice job jrkruse. I'm liking it. Only issue I'm having is calling out. Pretty sure i know what the deal is. Should only be a flesh wound. I'm going to mess around with it now. I'll post results if I figure it out. Thanks again jrkruse!! I know that it has to be pain to make a rom like this and only have a few posting about it, but dude, I really do appreciate it. I think if folks would give it a try, they would like it better than original root.
