So, I found this feature by mistake and I have been looking for something about it on the Web and can't find anyone talking about it.
After the Marshmallow update (coincidence or not, someone tell me) I have been able to dim the screen manually whenever I want by covering the whole of the watch screen! It's an amazing feature and doesn't require any proximity sensor or whatever.
Is this really new or am I telling you something so "known" that I should hide myself?
Nevertheless, I felt I should open this thread so that anyone who didn't know it until now, like me, gets to know this amazing feature.
And who already knew, how did huawei manage to do this? The screen must support multi-touch so that it feels several fingers covering the whole screen huh? I've made some tests and it is actually really really accurate.
Try it for yourself :highfive:
This feature worked for me from day one on Huawei, even before the new Marshmallow update.
Cool feature, but been there previously...

Yeah, it's been around for awhile. I guess you didn't go through the introductory demo. I believe the feature has been around since the beginning. I remember seeing it on my old Moto 360 1.0.
On mine it doesn't work? Does it have something to do with the fact that the watch is connected with the iPhone?
Sorry to rain on your parade but as I recall, that was right in the intro tutorial!
Is there a setting to turn this off and on? I can't seem to get this to work. My watch is paired with a Nexus 6.
this feature will work when you have ambient sensor like the 360

This feature uses multiple touch points and does not need an extra sensor. It worked on the Huawei from day one.
Got it to work! Thanks for the insight.
It has been like that before MM.
Lol got all exited

You have to get your whole palm touching the touchscreen. Push it against the screen, don't just lightly cover your watch.

i tried by touching whole of my palm into the screen, then it vibrate and the screen is off.
is it work like that ? it's just go into standbye mode, not decreasing the brightness

Weird, maybe it is your watchface. I've tried this with pujie black, go to launcher(menu) and covered the screen.
Watch went to standby, lower brightness, exactly as if it just timed out by itself.

i tried to set always ON = ON, and covered the screen with my palm..
then the screen goes to standbye mode with dim watchface as seems like when the screen time out..
but when setting always On=Off, the screen goes off when covered with my palm. like this ?
hendry yes it supposed to behave like this
I'm pretty sure this function was in the tutorial before marshmallow even.
One of the more pleasant surprises I got when I bought this phone was how dark the screen could get for night tile viewing. With Night Mode and the lowest brightness, I could browse my phone first thing in the morning without dying.
Now, on Nougat, Night Mode just adds a yellowish tint - probably reducing blue light or whatever - and brightness doesn't seem to go as low now. Kinda blinded this morning...
Is there some way of fixing this?
1.
2.
3.
And many more..
I probably should've specified I wasn't looking for a separate app for this purpose. I know that much!
Just wondering if I can get the built in function to be sensible again.

No you can't.
Well,
Currently looking into downgrading to Marshmallow then. Newer doesn't always equal better, sigh~

Hello,
Bumping this since I'm at same point.
Find the OS must be Linux but nothing else. Would need a firmware to upload to the car which let me exit the MBUX software to check the OS and all files, any clues the readers ?
Dealer Mode?

I did notice they have a setting for Dashcam and it’s subscription based. Wonder if there is a way to activate it.

I think the only way to activate it and bypass some securities is to go through the OBD.
Anyone?

Anyone have any knowledge of hacking this system yet? Furthermore anyone know where the SIM card slot is for these cars? Or is it an E-Sim?

From what I read it is an E-SIM.
Hello guys,
If this Mbux system is the new head unit on the A-Class I can confirm from an inside source that it is Linux indeed.
I cannot say much more since I am not directly involved.
As to eSIM, it most probably have such a thing. At least the previous systems (like the one installed on the E-class) have an eSIM. So I see to reason why this one shouldn't have one too.
All the best!

You are right, you can see the specs here : https://media.daimler.com/marsMedia...lance-The-key-data-on-MBUX.xhtml?oid=32705799
There are probably a lot of interesting things in it, but how.
The only way I see is through OBD.
Hi, tomorrow I'll take my new A class so I take a sit here ... I like to take advantage of all digital things...

It an esim like Opel
Anyway to see the e-sim id? Currently in Canada and it appears Mercedes has a deal with AT&T but pricing for Canadian users is ridiculous.
Want to see if I can get it activated with another provider or what potentials options I maybe able to work out as I cannot share data from my phone plan in the car which is also a shame.

You can either use the new Screen Brightness or turn if off completely.
Have you tried training it for a few days by adjusting the brightness to your needs?
For me, it works perfectly after the training phase.
There is no way a normal user can do it, on a locked device. I am sure there are ways with root there are ways to fix this. This was my biggest issue for a week when I got Android 9, and now 10 (since in 10 whatever was learned in pie, at least for me, was lost). After a week of teaching it how I want things to do, it just does it at it should.

The point is ML doesnt obey my commands. Thats why i want to disable it.
It learns ok. but when it finishes his learning phase i cant control the Brightness manually.
For example:
ML increases Brightness to %100
but thats too much for me for that moment
so i am trying change it to %50 and then
ML immediatly increases Brightness to %100
I cant control the Brightness after the Learning phase. Its just so dumb.
I just want back my old but gold Light Sensor.

What. Just adjust the slider dude... been using it since it was new and I can adjust the slider under the quick settings any time.
What do you mean by learning phase? It tells you, that leaning phase is over and it's not adjustable anymore or what?

Indeed, you are right, the old fashion system pre-9 was much better, and much more reliable. You set a point on the slider and the auto-brightness only modified slightly in that area. Until the auto-brightness post-9 learns it's a chore, and after that... teaching it new things, it's again a chore.
The whole process is related to the Device Health Services subsystem where you can reset the whole learning to factory default. Maybe from there, you can have some success, but from what I've googled, there is no way to do that on stock locked. Maybe there are xposed, or magisk modules that could take care of that.

Wow.. I have never seen that. Been using 9 since it came out, with the latest sec. patch every time. I've adjusted the brightness many times, but I've never seen this happen.
Is it the same if you drag it instead of tapping a new location for the knob?
Also, I have the complete Digital Wellbeing bs disabled for a long time now, maybe that's why I've never seen this? Might have to do something with it.
Guys.
I just realized there is a new feature on my phone.
I never allowed it to be installed, phone never asked if I wanted it and I have all updates turned off. All updates!
Stock, no root, Jan 2020 firmware.
You can find in under settings/google and it will be the very first position.
What is that?
How do I remove it?

That's my phone now and I should be able to do whatever I want with it and block whatever I want.
They should have asked if I wanted any kind of f**king update.
You do not own the software on your phone. Please review the terms and conditions set my Google.

It's something that was being developed months ago, it makes your device search for devices in the background periodically for potentially COVID-19 infected people.
If someone is infected, they have to report it on their phone and it flags other users around if you're near someone who had/has COVID-19 or not.
It uses Bluetooth

Yeah. Good thing I still have Nokia 3310
its a framework, it needs an app to work with it to be of any use . without the app from your local country etc it does nothing.
How can you be so sure? How do you know it doesn't work in the background anyway?

Its a framework. That means, apps sit on top on the frame ... like building a house, you need a base ( frame ) . This " Base" lets others build whatever house they want on top ... the actual "base" does nothing, how do I know... its a framework. if you are so paranoid, stop all you're google, amazon frameworks and see what happens, spoilers, your phone won't work. Next, stop all the frameworks in windows if you use that .. spoilers, it won't work ....then put everything into a box and leave it there
