Verizon LG G4 VS986 Marshmallow 24C Is Currently Unrootable! - Verizon LG G4

Since the 24C Marshmallow update for the Verizon VS986 LG G4 came out, lots of new people are visiting the forum looking for the answer to this question.
Currently there is no known method for rooting the VS986 24C Marshmallow firmware. Nobody has a rooted VS986 running 24C Marshmallow!
Now that I've posted this, someone will soon find a way to root 24C I hope , but in the mean time, stick with 13B if you want to stay rooted.
People have reported downgrading back from MM 24C to Lollipop 13B using the LGUP PC tool, so you can give unrooted Marshmallow a taste and go back to Lollipop if you don't like MM.

Downgrade then Root
Just My two cents, I have just tonight successfully downgraded from MM to LP (13b) using the above mentioned links and then rooted to 13b. Hope everyone else meets with the same success.

Root and KDZ help.

I got my lg g4 yesterday and tried to root it using the little effort root and it didn't work. When it rebooted I the screen that says booting failed etc etc with the LG logo on it and it cut off. So I tried to kdz it back and I guess I chose the wrong KDZ and it just completely blacked out. Luckily they gave me another 1 (told them it wouldn't cut on after going dead) so I want to try rooting it again but I want to know which software version am I? In my settings it says vs98611A but under my battery it says vs986B. Which 1 is my kdz? And is there any other way to root this phone?

Worked for me on 13B.
Suggest you update to 13B using LGUP PC tool and 13B KDZ, then try rooting again with link posted.
How do I know that I'm not already on 13 b? This is all new to me
Settings - About phone - Software info - Software version.
Ok I see. I think what happened last time was I was on 13b and flashed a 11a kdz and that bricked my phone

26A

Just got updated to 26A this morning, but haven't bothered to check to see what the "improvements" are.
Same here

I'm a little behind on information. Does the 26a stop me from downgrading to 13b with LGUP? I was rooted by using the LGUP to downgrade but recently went back to stock with the lg flash tool. I may decide to go back to rooted if it permits.

I took the 26a OTA after getting my phone back from LG with a new main-board. Last night I decided to downgrade to 13b kdz and did not encounter any issues. I have already flashed rootedsystem img and everything works like a charm.

Welcome!
The "security update" broke my wifi calling. I've tried rebooting, turning it off and on, turning wifi off and on... no luck... and of course i applied this update while visiting my family where cell reception is awful.
Does anyone know the LG download link to the 26A KDZ? I flashed the 25A kdz and it shows as Modified even after a Recovery Menu reset...connectivity and battery drain major issues also...
Did you find a link?
Hi, Bro, did you find a link for the download yet!? I am looking for the kdz files as well!!!
Looking for kdz as well, thanks.

Thanks for the info, I am in exactly the same situation getting a 25a phone with new board back from LG, now getting prompted every day for 26a and didn't want to lock myself out of a downgrade, not that I am going to do it at the moment.

Hey Martin, would you mind sharing which method you used to downgrade and root? I've rooted phones in the past but the g4's process is a little foreign to me. Thanks a ton.

I used LGUP first to downgrade from 26a to 13b kdz which is the original system ROM. I used the "Refurbish" method which completely erases everything before flashing the KDZ.
Once 13b KDZ was flashed I used the LG Root to flash the rootedsystem .img.
I can't post any links here yet but if you do a quick search on this forum you will find detailed instructions on how to proceed and all the necessary files you want to download. It's really not that difficult, just make sure you read and understand what you're gonna do so as to minimize any chance for mistakes.
Happy flashing!
Bro, did you find the kdz for 26A???

HELP D858HK Downgrade to L from MM then root

Hi, there is alot of info about flashing and rooting the LG G3 on here. So much that I am confused. i have the D858HK dual sim variant i just want to make sure that i am going about it in the right way. I dont want to do something that was meant for the D855 single sim.
I recently flashed my D858HK to MM however i want to root my phone. I read that I can downgrade to L then root then flash with a prerooted zip to MM. I just need some assistance please to make sure I am doing the right thing and if my model is compatible.
Firstly, I downloaded the L firmware from the LGs site http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=41
however 20D is not available to download so i downloaded 20e (D858HK20e_00.kdz) for my phone. Will this one be ok for rooting?
Secondly, since my phone is D858HK which step should i use to downgrade using this guide? Should i use the LG Flash tool Step 1 or LGUP Step 3? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=64624353#post64624353
Thirdly, to root will the guide here work for L D858HK20e_00.kdz One Click Root? http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
Finally, after rooting I would like to flash using Artshell's prerooted MM zip or Fulmics Rom. Which one would you recommend?
Advice and guidance will be much appreciated.
Edit. Solved. Delete please

T-Mobile LG G3- LG Flash Tool 2014 issues in downgrading the Android ver

Hello,
My T-Mobile LG G3 was upgraded to D85130E by carrier about 3-weeks ago. and i am facing screen freeze and blackout issue for ever 2 mins & battery life is reduced to only 3 hours. I am not support from T-Mobile, since i am outside of warranty period. I did the factory reset and still the issues are same.
Anybody suggest quick fix for this problem?
Tried to downgrade to D85120E (Lollipop) thru KDZ file:
Here i downloaded the LG flash Tool 2014 and all related drivers and the flash tool stops at 4% while flash KDZ firmware. It happens for multiple attempts when i tried with Win10 and 7 laptops.
Any other flash tools to overcome this issue?
Advance Thanks
Any root option available under d85130e update patch?
Couple days ago my d851 got the update pushed by T Mobile so enthusiastically.... and many good things with d851 turned on into something not very pleased!! Root and TWRP I had before with d85130d are now history and seem to me that there is no possibility to root under this new update, nor even to downgrade. I am curious if anybody rooted succesfully under d85130e and what method they used? Or, if is a way to downgrade to LP ( LGUP and LG Flash doesn't recognize model of d851TN)? Thank you!
Hello,
Any help to resolve LG G3 MM(D85130e) issues? I removed the SD card and did the factory reset, but the issues are still same.
Thx

Verizon LG G4 VS9862BA Root Options

Hello everyone,
I have looked everywhere on the threads, and it seems like I can't find any root information on my VS9862BA software version. I read in a thread that downgrading from MM to LL on a 2AA will cause the phone to be bricked. Is this true for the 2BA as well? Can I downgrade my G4 and then root like a normal G4? Help is greatly appreciated.
Nope. You have go back to 5.1 to ROOT and stay in 5.1
Verzion has made it impossible after 5.1 to ROOT but for other companies like AT&T, Etc. is Easy
Yes, you can downgrade from 2BA to 13B using LGUP PC software tool, then root using the methods posted in the VS986 XDA section.

Hi
I have an LG vs986 on 2ba I want badly to root in order to get 4g lte on T-mobile.
I tried to downgrade to 13b but got bricked and stuck on dl mode, thank god I was able to flash it back to 2ba.
Some threads on xda suggest that it's possible to downgrade to 13b only early version of mm not latest like 2ba.
Is that true?
If not please post some guide lines on how to do it.
Thanks for any help.
To what Root on MM? Just not the latest version? I've tried many ways but All Failed. When my time with Verizon is up I'm going to T-mobile or AT&T

have you done this personally on VS9862BA version cause i ended up having to flash back to MM after attempting downgrade...
That's my recollection and others have posted that they had successfully downgraded from 2BA to 13B in this thread too:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/downgrade-mm-to-ll-lgup-t3322616/
You have to use the correct dll file referenced in the thread.
