Haven't heard any news of an ota to the gsm devices. Are they not getting it or am I not? I run a custom kernel and are rooted... but I have seen no news of a galaxy nexus ota.
Sorry if I missed the thread.
Thanks.

It's out on Google's factory image site. You can easily manually flash it
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel
Thanks!

The OTA hasn't started rolling for any GNex devices. There's an image if you're on takju, but no OTA.
Nexus S ota lower memory use! Much better performance.
Just installed Jelly 4.1.2 on Nexus S device last night. I'm posting here to provide my experience. This phone is running like a new, better device. It is using half, HALF the sys memory than before. So far just sweet goodness. I recommend this update to all. Absolutely no problems thus far. I've tried things it didn't like in the past and it just keeps chugging along. I swear, EveryThing is faster. Will test batt life today when I go out, then report. This is only a .01 update! WOW! Thank you Google. Thank you T-Mobile. F'in awesome job. That is all.
I found a cwm that flashed system a while back and used that to upgrade to this version.

Where are you getting that system memory number from? It sounds a little suspect.
Ya it is true. I have update my galaxy nexus to 4.1.2 and its is slightly better than 4.1.1

tofmiller... Very Slight exaggeration : )
I understand. This thing has what 334mb avail for apps to RUN not store. Before OTA update, was using task managers and restarts to keep around 50-70 mb free. After update, without intervention, phone says around 100 mb free. I exaggerated a bit but not that much. I find, also, the system keeps things freed up. I have not killed any apps or cleared cache since I got the OTA last night. I got the update in the afternoon then went to my 27" iMac to try to get a feel of how well things were going for others.Things looked sort of OK, but not much info so I decided to pull the trigger last night around 8pm Pacific. Proceeded to run it ragged. Streaming movies to my Mac via Wi-Fi, no problem. Played the only 3 games I have installed right now, no problem. Checked mem, 92 mb free! Made sure all apps were not running, only Skifta. It's been over 12 hours, no prob.
So, for me, this old dog got a shot of steroids. I'm thinking this will probably be last u/d for this device.(but that's what I thought about 4.1.1). If some app devs stay cool, don't think I'll get new device 'till after my contract fully expires. Was thinking about upgrading handset at earliest time. Couple months before end. Now... i can get better deal from carrier. Or jump ship to Big Red. Just wanted to put some helpful info out there because it looked like most people were side-loading this thing.
Been trolling for some time. Finally found something worthy of this outstanding site. Usually-"I'M NOT WORTHY"
Started with Nexus 1(now wife's) Bought rebuilt Nexus S because of running out of memory all the time.Pulled the T-Mobile Sim out stuck it in here and it immediately started d/l 4.04. Wow Really didn't expect that, now this... NEXUS BABY-- ALL THE WAY. Tablet next! Hope I helped. usually -I'M NOT WORTHY-
I'm on stock GSM 4.1.1 and I'm a little concerned I haven't gotten 4.1.2 OTA yet. Any ideas?
I thought the manual flash from the website wipes your data.
Mr. ruggersvpunk ? I can't believe i'm gonna say this....
Hello ruggervpunk ?
I'm usually (or used to be) quite impatient about these sort of things. I've been using a Mac since 1986(not the same one : ) and had to have the latest greatest thing. Over time I've learned a tiny bit of patience. I've found in almost every case it's best to wait a bit.. Smarter to let those without some restraint be the guinea pigs. This has saved my ass in recent years. So, I guess I would advise you to wait for the OTA. Things can go wrong when loading from a website. I've done it(with my wife's phone) and once I thought i bricked it. If not for the Grace of God and this site, it would still be in that state.
So sir? Try to wait. 1 it's totally worth it , I don't know who your carrier is but if you've received an OTA before, you'll get it again. Just got mine yesterday from T-MOBILE. So far, everything works better. Much better than an unexpected .01 update. This has done as much or more in performance than 4.0.4 to 4.1.1. Really. Give it a couple of days. Good things come to those who wait. That's just a guy in S.F. who loves gadgets advice.
Good Luck
Richard
It rolls out in phases. The factory image will wipe data. But there is a cwm file that updates boot and system. Its essentially the ota except larger since its the entire system.

Go figure, I sent that on the way to the gym, and when I just got home now, the OTA came.
Thanks!
This is an interesting question and no I've never tried it before myself. Has anyone rooted, made some customizations, and then un-rooted so that they can get updates again? I'm contemplating wanting to get updates, especially if they release KitKat for it. My concerns are as follows:
1. I might lose my customizations, such as the deleted QSlide bar
2. Updates might go screwey, like when they notice I removed the default Exchange email infrastructure from the device
This is my main device, and I would have some trouble living without it for an extended period, anyone have the ability to test this without impacting their lives too much?
We are not going to see a official update for KitKat from lg anytime soon. It will probably be like 3-4 months if we even get it. I wouldn't worry about it though because I'm sure our great devs will have us a build running soon.

Brother, just be happy to what you've did with your GPro right now and clear your head with worries. Cause it will be on that customization for a very long, long, long, long time...
Updates? I mean, hello? It's LG!

Hello incredible 2 community. I recently lost my RAZR in the woods so I'm back to this. Carbon is by far my favorite rom, and I'm interested in devoting some time to get it running on the inc2. My experience goes as far as setting up a build environment, downloading a repository, and compiling a build for a supported device. I realize the groundwork for inc2 4.4 is not quite ready yet, so would I want to work with 4.4 or a previous version? Any help would be appreciated. I'm even having a difficult time finding a tutorial that is exactly what I'm looking for. I don't plan to stay on this device for more than a couple weeks, but i should have the time to keep working on it for others who might be interested.

My understanding is that there are no 4.4 Roms for the Inc2. You may be heading into uncharted waters with this one. But hey, best of luck!
On a side note, how exactly do you lose a phone in the woods?
Carbon isn't even on 4.4 yet.

Actually I have booted a test of evervolve 4.4 and beanstalk 4.4 there are some issues, but at least something to work with.
Had my phone in a front chest pocket of my hunting bibs. Then went through about 3 miles of the thickest brush imaginable. Climbing over stuff, under stuff anything to just get threw it lol. Got out of the woods and went to check the time..no phone. Got home went to android device manager because I had it turned on for my phone and the whole site was down, displaying an internal server error. I tried to contact Google hq, but it was after 5pm. Finally a week and a half later they fixed the internal server error, so I thought I should test it out. However, I am unable to get a location for my inc2 or even make the phone ring...everything is turned on. In fact if I go to maps and check out my location history I can see that no problem. Guess I shouldve had location history reporting turned on for my RAZR so I didn't have to rely on the broken device manager.

Advice Please:
I have a G3 with PacMan ROM and it's freaking sweet. However, my infrared/camera (which I use hundreds of times/day for work) is not working when I shoot certain types of materials (works on leather, blurs on cloth now). I was planning on just waiting to get the G4 when more ROMs were out. However, now I'm rushed to pull the trigger. So here's my question:
I want to not activate my new G4, but use it for work over wi-fi and continue to use my G3 for everything else (calls/texts). Since I had to order my G4 to get more GB, the Verizon rep is telling me that I can have the G4 and keep my service on the G3. However, they will need to 1) Activate the G4/Deactivate G3, 2) Deactivate G4/Reactivate G3. Will I have any problems reactivating my G3 since it's rooted and ROMmed? Will this cause any problems with Verizon? Will they even notice?
Also, If I'm able to do this... Can I go ahead and root/Rom the inactivated G4 and activate it once a satisfactory ROM is out (and installed on it)?
I know this is complex and doesn't do many people much good, so MANY THANKS to whoever lends a hand!!!!!
I hate being in this predicament... If only we lived in a world where all the ROMs were available to all carriers within the first month of release... if only... LOL

Yes, you can activate the G4 and go back to the G3, even with root. When you activate the G4 make sure you go through the setup process before you pull the Sim and install the Sim back into the g3. Wifi will work on the G4 without the Sim at that point. Done it many times.

I'll second this... As I just did it lol. I bought my G4 back in October and used it for a week then went back to my G3 while waiting for some more development to happen. I'm back on the 4 now. Jumping back and forth works fine.

I juump from ZTE Moto E prepaid G3 and the G4. works fine with a good standing sim.
Thanks so much for the help!
To push it a step further... Could I Root/Rom the new G4, and then return it back to Verizon in my 2 week trial period without any alarms going off? Would I just need to un-root and flash stock Rom before returning?
The guys at the Verizon store are so oblivious to android development that I wouldn't be surprised if they took a rommed and rooted G4 back without realizing it!
Unfortunately I don't think we have any roms for our verizon g4 and most likely will never have more than stock based unless someone unlocks the boot loader or comes up with another bump and I think they've about given up trying which really sucks cuz I have 2 of then lol

Well I put it like this, I have 2 g4's and 2 days ago traded one for a g3 vs985 and I'm still in utter shock at how much this g3 blows those g4 outta the water in every single aspect and I've tested this thing balls out non stop and I hated lollipop and marshmallow until now that I'm running resurrection remix 6.0.1..rooting and custom recovery were a single click each and all I had to do was flash a 35b bootstack and modem to get mm running. I can't stress highly enough how much you'll regret getting rid of the g3 cuz there isn't very much to advance to with Verizon for a modder like us. The way they lock down their phones is just evil and the g3 is a rare miracle for a Verizon device. Have you done a lot of flashing yet on your g3?

That's what I was afraid of, thanks for confirming my suspicions! I have been using the PACMAN ROM for over a year now! Which ROMS do you recommend? Also note: I'm just good enough to root and flash. I've never messed with kernels or anything else.
I've run into a few quirks with my PACMAN ROM, nothing serious though (except for my camera not focusing as well anymore). Maybe a new ROM is just the change I need!
THANKS

Man on the g3 there's more Roms than I can begin to find a good start, hell I just started going down the list on Android File Host just search vs985 and there's over 400 files to start with. A good tip is to get a copy of each Android version's bootstack, modem, and kernal zips on XDA or you'll get updater script errors from the base band being off. Most likely you'll only have to stick with the latest version cuz most people go up in Android versions, not me I'm all over the place and still consider JB and kk the best and my personal favorite. But the Dirty Unicorns mm rom has really stepped up and cool as hell , especially the unique nav bar. If you run into problems finding the right bootstacks PM me and I'll hook you up

Whats up xda family? Can someone please help me out ? I need the stock ATT HTC Desire EYE backup files. (I need original rom and recovery you backed up when you rooted your phone)I rooted my phone a whle ago and somehow lost my backup! I havent had any need 4 it untill now. I recently flashed a new recovery / rom through windroid and while flashing, my laptop died in the middle of the process. I managed to fix alot of stuff by flashing mm 6.0, (thanks to Tahir and Arun.Gunupud for the advise) but unfortunately that didnt replace all the necessary files, So im having major network issues now. I can only recieve calls in h + mode or lower. 4g and Lte go straight to vm. Big shout out goes to Tahir , Arun.Gunupud and all the other senior members and dev who took the time to help me out! Will be sending out some donations as soon as i get this thing up and running 100%. To all my fellow noobs out there. If someone helps you out, show some love! say thanks, shoot em a donation. Even if its a couple bucks! buy em a beer, idk.. js One hand washes the other! Thank in advanded for any help! One love!
Not sure if you have seen my other replies to you in the other thread. Your call issues have nothing to do with missing files. All the most if not all of the desire eye roms are built on international firmware, since there is no official AT&T MM firmware. This international rom set up does not support high definition voice, which is why when your device is set on 4g and above you don't receive any incoming calls. You can make calls out, and text in and out with no issue. Only way around this is to have carrier turn off the high definition feature or lock the phone in settings to 2g/3g and keep it off of 4g, which will help with the calls but you won't have the higher speed data otherwise.

Link above is an AT&T backup I did for a developer nearly 2 years ago. Not sure if it was TWRP 3.0.0 or 3.0.2.
Edit it was probably TWRP 2.8.4.0
Yes I did see where you replied. Thank you. I guess my rational thinking just could not comprehend why a phone that was designed to take incoming calls on all available networks is suddenly unable to take incoming calls after a flash. Especially if it's designed to be used internationally. It just made me feel as if something is not right. Not doubting your knowledge at all its just how I am. Constantly trying to figure things out especially when they don't do as designed. So your telling me that because I switched roms I sacrificed my 4g LTE speeds? If so that sucks, lol . Do the ends justify the means? I've rooted many phones and devices back in the days and the only compromise we had was on cameras and NFC. Maybe we should put that in the disclaimer with the not responsible for bricking lines. Oh well live and learn. But I did figure out exactly what you said last night while playing around with settings. I put it in 2g/3g auto and I can receive calls all the time. Doesn't really bother me much, but it's like having a car that is designed to do 150 but can only go 35. But it's all in fun. It's only a stupid phone... haha But thanks for all your help bro. You guys are great! I'm off to flash some more roms.

If you contact AT&T and disable the the high definition feature you can put your eye back on 4g for the data speeds. The international Roms are only 4g not 4g LTE. Your phones high definition feature is built on the LTE. I turned the feature off and had no other issues. If you want full featured rom with NFC and everything else working I can point you to two that have it all. Disclaimer keep the high definition feature disabled or call issues could return. A simple phone call will give you your high speed data back. ### the eye is the only device I ran across with the issue, it was also the first I had that had that feature. My HTC 10 doesn't have the issue because the US unlocked gets updated prior to rest of world. I've moved away from buying from carriers.
Hope you get everything figured out. Enjoy your day

You're welcome, however if you do want to go back to the factory AT&T lollipop, let me know, or look for my username above in Android file host, will upload a copy for TWRP 3.0.2.0. Just hang onto the recovery image you already have for 3.0.2.0

So i just called att and had them turn off HD. I was told to reboot then i should be ok. so i rebooted and went back to change settings to 2g/3g/4g auto. I tried to place a call to myself and it went straight to vm. Signal had 3 bars & in h + mode. Then placed another call when I had full 4g and still went to vm. Is there anything else that needs to be done to turn off hd? So I switched back to to 2g 3g auto and calls go through fine. Honestly its not really that big of a deal to me. I cant tell the diffrence between 3g & 4g. Hey as long as it rings when im called and im not like "can you hear me now, Can you hear me now." im good! lol No way am i ever going to go back to stock. Stock is for punks!!! hahah
Thats no fun!

Thank you for your offer but it's not necessary. I do this for fun, enjoy tinkering lol. With everything I've done and tried on my Eye I'm surprised I didn't kill it lol. I finally have my 10 to the point that I want it. Tried all the sense Roms and am currently running stock rooted with Magisk, which allowed me to install Dolby atmos and viper4android sound mods. Pretty impressed with it, great device.

hey man your top gun in my book! Im the same way I love to tinker! Im actually proud of myself for not bricking it yet! i was going to go with the m10 but opted for the desire eye only because I kayak and the eye is water resistant. its kind of fun to throw it in the water and not freak out! but im seriously thinking of getting the 10 so i have more options and keep the eye for when i go to the water.
