Recently unlocked my bootloader and flashed twrp... Now i have a question does flashing the entire stock rom re-locks the bootloader...if yes, do we also get the OTA updates? i read somewhere on the internet that flashing the entire stock rom re-locks the bootloader & we can get OTA's... If we can do this why is Asus blacklisting our serial numbers while unlocking the bootloader? And when we want to unlock our bootloader again do we have to go through the same procedure that we used previously...
Nope

No way to safely relock bootloader. Some say flashing a RAw romimage will relock but this seems tobe hit and miss.
If you unlocked your bootloader using the unofficial tool then ASUS doesn't have your IMEI but if you did use official tool your up that creek with no paddle and a hole in the boat... If you unlock the bootloader you can put unnoficial roms onto your phone that can potentially damage hardware. If you then relocked the bootloader and reflashed the stock rom you would get it repaired under warranty and ASUS don't want that. Blacklist your IMEI means as soon as your phone gets to a repair center you pay $$$ to fix...
Is there method to have OTA updates after unlocking bootloader and flashing twrp recovery ? I unblocked booloader with unofficial method and flashed twrp. After playing couple days with cm13 went back to my backed up with twrp stock rom. What to do to have OTA back ?

Flash stock rom + boot.img +droidboot.img + recovery.img for that rom...
If you go to the pre-rooted rom thread you can get all these things and use fastboot to flash.
Just remember though, if you have busybox or xposed or anything that alters the system directory that flashing OTA will fail. Founfd he easiest thing was to re-flash the latest pre-rooted rom (with all img files having been flashed prior) works everytime...

So I have the Trinity Rom installed, unlocked bootloader, trinity x kernel and a rooted Xperia S. I want to go back to the beginning, to start everything from scratch. Can someone tell me a step by step procedure to revert to the old system because the PC Companion won't repair it because of the custom firmware.
Thanks!
Download and install Emma(the sony developers tool). That can reflash your phone to stock firmware. Or flash an ftf though Flashtool.
Also, there is a sop on the xda website regarding relocking the bootloader if you want to do that.

I have flashed the stock kernel somehow and relocked the bootloader while still having the custom rom, I knew that my phone wouldn't go past the sony logo, because when I was installing the rom I chose bootloader unlocked so now I can't win either way. What should I do, still install emma?

OMFG, what were you trying to accomplish by those actions? Why relock bootloader? Only thing you had to do is to flash prefered FW via Flashtool.
Hi guys I am still struggling with this lingering problem of dead wifi on my GT N7100
Before you jump into giving me suggestions, let me summarize what I have done thus far.
My daily driver was @wesamothman hybrid 4.3 custom ROM and everything was almost prefect for weeks then I upgraded to @dr.ketan full 4.3 ROM and then WiFi went dead. Though this was normal. Starting reading how to fix the dead WiFi. I have tried all of the popular 4.3 ROMs, tried all the wifi fixes by @dr.ketan and alternatives from XDA gurus and even tried Devil's kernel to activate my dead WiFi. I was on the MJ5 bootloader, I think Nothing seem to work. I have decided to settle with Omega ROM from V20 and now 21. Everything else on the ROM is running perfect and I have had no single FC on my Note 2 excpet I cannot activate my WiFi
Taking a suggestion by @cooza, I decided to do a clean official upgrade with a stock official 4.3 ROM from Sammy hoping the new bootloader with the ROM may trigger the WiFi. This is what I did;
I did a full wipe and format data to clean the internal storage.
Downloaded the official 4.3 firmware from sammobile for my country
Upgrade PC Odin and USB drivers on my windows PC
Flashed the official firmware, root the phone using Dr. Ketan's multitool and flashed TWRP latest.
My phone stats now;
Baseband MK1
ROM ML4
Bootloader ML3
Still WiFi is dead and when I tried to flash the fixes (Dr. Ketan's 'reboot and wifi fix' with PA, the phone say unsupported version. I am now back to Omega V21 which is really a great 4.3 ROM =)
[Edited] I have also reflash the official firmware N7100ML3_XME and did several factory resets from settings and recovery and the WiFi still refuse to turn on. How do I confirm that I am flashing the new bootloader when I flash using PC ODIN? When I check with Device Info app, it says that I my bootloader is ML3.
Does this mean my WiFi is permanently dead? What else can I do?
BIG thank you for all the suggestions and pointers from so many great people in XDA.
did you have wifi working after flashing the stock rom and booting back up before rooting with Dr Ketans tool ?
there were two wifi fix by Dr ketan - one was called reboot fix and actually contained the mj 5 bootloader - the name started with BL, there was one wifi fix which came before this - it was called wifi fix for mj2 . rar.The latter was for those who were on 412 bootloader but wanted the wifi working without upgrading their bootloader. It is not supposed to be run over 4.3 bootloaders.

Actually I lost wifi when I was running a hybrid 4.3 ROM [Hurricane ROM4.3][MI6-MJ2-MJ5-MK4][20-11-13]v6.0[Fast+Stable+Long Battery+NOTEI I I] and it was my daily driver for weeks without any problem. Then I upgraded to Dr. Ketan's 4.3 MK4 ROM when I lost the wifi. Since, I have trying to fix this problem withour much success.
eidros, you said in the other thread you were going to try flashing the stock ml 4 rom, what happened ?
(time for me to log out , hope someone else will give some advise)

Yeah just finished download the stock ml4 but am waitng input regarding which official firmware actually carries bootloaders? He suspects that it may be possible that my phone may not have a bootloader or the appropriate bootloader, does this make sense?
Flash 4.3 bootloader from N7100 Android Development and WiFi will work for 100%, lol

your phone has a bootloader and you checked with info app , as you said in other thread, that it is ml3
no harm in flashing ml4 as you are not concerned with warranty, check your bootloader version after flashing ml4, do factory reset in stock recovery, do a couple of reboots afterwards, yank the battery out , push it back in, power on, hope it will work

I am in the same boat as OP, WiFi is not turning on whatsoever. Tried different ROM
s wiped completely before installing, etc. ... nothing. Not even with Stock ROM WiFi works.
I tried the last suggestion here with the bootloader, but it says failed in Odin and afterwards the phone gives me the failed firmware upgrade screen and Kies won't recognize the phone. (GT-N7100).
I can however restore with Odin and a complete Stock Rom, but still no WiFi. What to do??

hey mate, flashed the stock ml4 rom and the info app confirmed that the bootloader is ml4 but alter doing all the things you suggested and even more the WiFi is still refusing to come on. Do you think the wifi on the N2 is dead? I mean literally kaput? Can that happen when all the other radios are working?

you can use any custom rom on ext sd card
ps- kernels are important so you should try alternative ones too
Flash 4.1, but only 3 file rom, phone bootloader update in odin, do a full wipe from phone and recovery, and then we will know, dead WiFi or Just messed bl

Hey Guys,
New of the forum here. For the past few days, I have been trying to install a custom rom on my Xperia S which I bought in Hong Kong about 2 years ago. I also had it updated to JB .96 version.
I read the forums as much as I could and firstly tried to root the phone. I couldn't determine if I had a locked or unlocked bootloader. I used this rooting guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2417672
by doomlord
and then I moved on to installing a recovery which was also following doomlords guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308493&highlight=adb+server
After having done this, I wanted to install PureSlim KitKat on my Xperia S which I found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606528&highlight=flash
But once I got into the recovery of CWM and selected to install the zip file, after installation it says that it will reboot device but it doesn't. I tried to manually start the phone but it couldn't start up. I can only get it to go into flashmode and thus I ended up flashing a ftf which I found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2422053
Afterwards, I am back to square one and I repeated the steps to reroot the device and then I installed recovery again and then tried another rom, this time I tried LeopardRom which also resulted in the same problem of not booting.
I also use Galaxy S2 and have custom rom on that but I didn't expect it to be that much different for xperia S. I am willing to follow steps to resolve the issue here.
-Jazi
you cant install that rom because is for unlocked bootloader and you have locked bootloader, you need unlock the bootloader and install a kitkat kernel. When you finish this you can install this rom
Not all of the bootloaders can be unlock. My bootloader can't be unlock so I use a rom that doesn't need unlocked bootloader. The rom is existenz v1.35

re locking bootloader is possible. flash raw firmware. or flashing boot, recovery, fastboot and ifwi images.
@DarkshadoW99 very first of all you started new thread without searching around. and if you started a new thread your post is too confusing or lacking the context of your post. unable to understand what you actually want.
very first of all while unlocking bootloader with unofficial method. you may get error " failed too many links" but even though bootloader is unlocked pretty well.. ( mention which tool you are using to unlock bootloader)
second thing is you stated that you are trying to unlock bootloader to access recovery. what does it actually mean? do you want to flash custom recovery or your are unable to enter recovery mode?
"in marshmallow if you boot with unlocked bootloader the phone stuck on asus logo" what does this line means? are you stuck at asus logo? as far as i know you can boot in MM with unlocked bootloader too. unable to understand what you wanted to say.
Go back to Lollipop for bootloader unlock

Since there isn't any OFFICIAL unlocker for Zenfone 2 Marshamallow, your best bet is to go back to Lollipop abd having an unlocked bootloader but again, it'll be without Marshmallow:
Download official firmware latest release or whatever you had BEFORE installing LineageOS. Rename the the file you just downloaded to:
MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip
Click to collapse
and put it on an SD-Card, put the sd card in your phone, boot into recovery (by booting to fastboot and selecting recovery) and the restore should start automatically.
Now at this point you'd be back to stock marshmallow and you can downgrade back to Lollipop ( V52.20.40.197--be mindful the link is for the JP SKU and you need to download the right SKU version for your phone in case you have WW --didnt see you specify or not, so maybe you want to check you downloaded the right Lineage OS as well as maybe thas why its freezing ) to use Asus' Unlocker.apk [You can find instructions on official Asus website under support]

If the last thing he installed was LinOS then he has twrp for recovery. I don't think that method will work.

That's a very valid point, but since his post is vague and quite confusing, unless Lineage has a function within the ROM to "relock the bootloader" I would've assumed he "relocked the bootloader" by installing/fastboot flashing some official boot.img and since he cant get into recovery and his bootloader is locked, I had imagined he'd be back to stock fastboot.
but meh, my guess is as good as any. Unless the OP adds some clarity, we can at least say we tried, amirite?

Hello Everyone
I have a Xa1 Ultra phone (G3223)
After 3 full days of searching how can i root my phone i have come to the conclusión that is not posible because of these failed attemps :
1.- My firmware stock versión (working property) its 48.1.A.2.109 i couldnt find any custom kernel nor recovery that Works with this firmware and because of that i cant flash it, so i cant root it.
2.- I could not find and older versión of firmware that had a custom boot.img or recovery.img so i could not downgrade my phone to root it.
3.-There's only 1 post i found on this forum that had a working custom kernel and recovery to be able to root a xa1 ultra Xperia, but his stock firmware versión was 48.1.A.2.50 so as it does not matched mine any attemp to flash it got me a bootloop
So in resume is there anyway i could rot my xa1 ultra phone or all of my assumptions on my researchs are correct?
my stock firmware is G3223_48.1.A.2.109 is there any way i can root it?
Thanks in advance for any information about the subject
The furthest I got is to the conclusion that we need to downgrade to firmware G3223_48.1.A.2.101, there's a working magisk install for that.
I can't get the firmware anywhere and this forum is basically a cemetery.

Haven't tested but I found this >> G3223_48.1.A.2.101 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-oCN7am9nL5TiDQs5uUdLGtW2zEoSVpq/view
It was listed midway through this website >>> https://www.martview-forum.com/thre...-version-firmware-ftf-lock-remove-file.23366/
The .101 downgrade went fine with flashtool, but the TWRP package I found on the janjan thread just boot loops. In fact, anything that I try ends in bootlooping, even fastboot booting an extracted kernel without modification (extracted with either AIK or flashtool).
I think this phone will be impossible to root unless we find the original 48.1.A.2.50 software.

After flashing TWRP did you immediately factory reset? [Flash TWRP, reboot into TWRP, Wipe]. With other devices I've had issues occur if I did not remember to.
