SamMobile is still free, though it doesn't provide all revisions (some JB ones are missing).

Was referring to it being available on Samfirmware.
I did search and believed this to be a different download source.
I am new to the S2, having come over from the SG4G. My phone was shipped with UVLI1, which I thought would be available for download someplace. So I started in flashing without checking for its availability. Now when I want to go back to the stock that cme on the phone I am not finding it anyplace, except in discussions about the modem it contains. Am I just missing the ROM here someplace?

Nope. It's not available. UVLI1 firmware is only available on replacement and brand new handsets. T-Mobile has chosen not to distribute this firmware. The latest you can flash is anything UVLH1.

Read a little more and came to that conclusion. Thanks much for direct confirmation.

Bolded for its beauty... great to see people still get dirty and read here at xda... Welcom aboard :good:
China is a very tricky place to buy gadgets if you live there. I had the same problem with my first galaxy tab, and thats when i got aquatinted with XDA since then. No problems with S3's and Note 2's as you can find them rooted with proper ROM's even at the stores here.
I got my hands on the Note 8 as soon as it came, and there is not much happening in the development area so far. I have achieved Root, but failed to flash anything, as there is only 1 German ROM available. Anybody who can contribute in giving ROM and CSC solutions for expats living and working in China would be appreciated and properly thanked
take a look at the sammobile site, and be aware that the device is classed as a phone there.

There are a ton of stock ROMs for a lot of markets for the N5110. I don't know if there are as many for the device you have, which I think is a 5100?

Thank you for your suggestion. Yes i got the N5100 and sammobile is great. However it is blocked in China, and can be accessed only through VPN. Same like sites like hot file.com etc...
Therefor this website is a perfect haven for us who reside in China. If we would have more links here would be very helpful..
Unfortunately, the files are are huge (the stock firmware is a 1.1 gig file) so uploading and hosting is a chore.
If you had a copy of the play store would it work?
There are copies of the play store all over the place. I'd think you could extract the APK that's used with CM10 and install that, as long as you had root.

Here is the link for gapps that worked for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041851
First I achieved root with framaroot and then after I downloaded gapps I flashed the zip from CWM. Gave my gf's Note 8 international character. Waiting for a black 32Gb to come up for my self

Holy cow, you flashed the whole of the CM10 gapps?
I was thinking you'd pull the play store APK out and install it after rooting your device - but great to know the whole thing can be installed.

Yes. Joyful surprise
Sorry for bombarding the forum with questions. As I've mentioned in a previous thread I just bought the gnex as a replacement since I'm grandfathered in and can't afford a new phone.
Anyway, sorry about that. Is there a way to get adobe flash without rooting. Can a apk work, if so could someone send it to me? I tried getting it via Google play previously installed apps but it won't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Flash is no longer supported beyond jellybean
There is a workaround follow the guide I linked to get flash working.
you can get the apk from official flash website, I use firefox browser after installing flash apk and it works just fine(most of time) I'm on 4.4 based rom
wish Adobe still officially supported Linux in general
Thanks both of you. I do intend on rooting just haven't had the time.
As for the .apk. Do you know if it will work with with 4.2.2 and other browsers or just FF?
Thanks.
PS
You said supported beyond JB. I'm on JB, 4.2.2

rooting your galaxy nexus will take no time at all
once you've unlocked bootloader and installed custom recovery(ALL EXTREMELY SIMPLE) you can just flash either the superuser root zip if you plan to stay stock, or ANY of the roms available all seem to come with root(except shiny, which to root you just flash the su zip after)
just wanted to let you know that it's NOTHING to be stressed about, EXTREMELY easy to do ANYTHING on the Gnex
I am POSITIVE it will NOT work with Chrome. chrome on android doesn't support flash playback at all, never has, go figure huh? the desktop chrome comes with it's OWN flash version, but not for android lol!
it SHOULD however work with the aosp stock browser, firefox, and dolphin browser(i think dolphin browser has a special add-on to support using flash)
and also maybe opera and some others. any specific one you were thinking about?
I can send ya the apk I use personally if you want it, no need to root to install it, just enable unknown sources in security settings in main settings, install the apk, and I usually reboot after that just to be "sure" is being recognized by browser apps.
and I'm not CERTAIN, but I think official support was stopped at/after.initial release of 4.1 JB, JB held the name from 4.1-4.3
Do you still need flash? I havent installed it and have no issues at all. Maybe it is included in the browser?
