Hi,
I wondered if anyone could help me, Im trying to disable the 30 min sleep on my Fire TV stick as I need it to remain on a webpage 24hrs as a communication tool. I tried used the dolphin browser with the auto refresh but it crashes and I cant root the stick. I tried a stay awake app too which didn't work either, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Have you tried Tasker? That maybe able to do this for you? If it's not possible it maybe because you need root to stop the timeout? & root isn't possible via the fire stick

There is a trial version in the play store but if you have a rooted phone, tablet or what ever just buy it, it was one of the first apps I bought & have used it for years & is so useful, a little hard to use at first but well worth learning how to use it.

I'd imagine it was something like - when app open, display timeout (then input what ever length of time you wany it to stay open for?)

You are right i posted a bit quick. But i have found that it will not sleep with certain apps for instance i played a hour long you tube mix of music and it never went to sleep but when i play a normal music app its sleeps.
Have any of you guys been able to find a fix? i couldn't even use tasker as it wanted me to hit the + button but due to the limited functionality of the remote control which accompanies the fire stick, i cant even get down to it. is there anyway to prevent the fire tv stick from sleeping ? as i need it to display a website, constantly
Not sure if this works on FTV stick and/or non-rooted, need to be tested. It works on FTV2 rooted (don't have a stick to test).

Any updates on this (2018) ?
I'd like to share my work-around as of 2018. I install "Stay Alive" app on my fire stick and open it. After you open it, it will keep the screen awake. Keep in mind that it's a third party app, so you have to sideload it, it should be quite easy to google for a tutorial on how to sideload apps onto fire tv stick.
There are many other apps in the play store that claim to keep the screen alive, but in most of them it takes quite some navigation to set them up and navigation within third-party apps can be tricky using fire tv remote or app. Fortunately, Stay Alive has the right settings (keeping the screen alive forever) enabled by default, so just opening it does the job!
Simple TV Display (No Sleep Webpage TV) - an app that helps solves the the original post. Lets you put in a webpage, set how often you want to refresh, and then shows the webpage while keeping it the screen awake
Use a program called Stay Alive! It will appear not to work and complain about google play services not being installed, but my launcher is always open after I turn my tv on in the morning now, with CEC enabled too.

Hey guys I just started playing this game and I have 2 problems wondering if anyone has some solutions
1) the brightness automatically turns way up when I play the game. No matter what I have my device set on
2) the controls (virtual joystick, fire, autopilot buttons) don't show up at all so I have to guess where they are.
Thanks for the help
Contact the dev?
I had the same issue when I tried it. I ended up uninstalling it. If an update comes that updates that I will play it again.

I am shocked many people say Moto Z Play doesn't support wireless display/mirroring/miracast ?! Is it True ?! :/
And is it a good buy after HTC ONE M8 Gold (with the jbl mod, so not talking about speakers) in performance/multitasking ?!
Will highly appreciate the answers!

I got an LG 65" smart TV, a 55" Samsung smart TV and 52" Vizio Smart TV, MirrorLink to smart TV is not working with any of them. However you can use an application named AllCast from play store (it's a paid application, the free one gives you only 5 minutes of transmission time for free), with that application you will be able to mirror videos, pictures, power points, etc to the smart TV. You can't mirror the entire content from your phone to the smart TV, but that is good enough for me.

That's the crux of the near-stock and near-Nexus experience. Google disabled Miracast in the Nexus and Pixel line and Motorola followed suit.
The most frustrating thing: Android is still perfectly capable of Miracast, it has simply been disabled in the build.prop and can't be re-enabled without root (same as with the Nexus phones).
The good news: if you really, really need it, unlock your bootloader, get root and re-enable it. Change persist.debug.wfd.enable=0 to persist.debug.wfd.enable=1 or add the line if it's missing in your build.prop and Miracast should be somewhat functional again.
I'm a little lost here...I can cast to my TV (Sony XBR-65X810C). I do not have a hardware chromecast device.
can cast
I also have a SonyUHD TV XBR-49X800D and I can cast without any app or chromecast.
If you rooted your phone you can make it work:
Edit your build.prop file in /system, adding or editing this line:
persist.debug.wfd.enable=1
Reboot your phone.
Miracast will now be enabled, but you may need to turn it on in settings:
Go to Android Settings
Go to Display
Go to Cast Screen
Tap the button in the top right corner (vertical 3-dots)
Check mark Enable wireless display

That's because they have Google Cast built in (which is what Chromecast uses), not Miracast

wow i too have a sony 32" led which has screen mirroring and panasonic 42" led smart t.v. , i am about to get my phone in a week's time, hope it works for me without any hardware . Will try from settings first, if it will not work then will try from 3rd party miracast apps, and so on. Will update you guys soon.
Thank you so much for telling me that there is a hope and possibility that it may work. I don't want to root or unlock bootloader , as i did with htc m8 and once its battery dies and if i try to turn it on few times in 0% battery (where it shuts down after showing logo only) and then when i plug the charger and turn it on, it ends up just giving errors and errors and I am left with no option to hard reset it. And start up logo also lags now even after hard reset.
I am pretty sure companies are so smart now, that they trigger something to cause certain issues once someone roots their phone or unlocks the bootloader mainly.

I got the phone, sadly neither my Sony led which has miracast and my Panasonic smart TV is searchable on the play... Cast settings page say "no nearby devices were found".
In display settings there is the cast option but no menu to select "enable wireless display" . Now I don't know if it's already enabled or what?!
Tried many apps still nothing, I don't want to root. So I need Chromecast?? or if any paid app I can look for or any other way will be great.

Put a video up on YouTube.
The line is hashed out in the build.prop. Root and remove the # from the line to enable once the edit is complete, reboot, fully functional mirror exists again. Tried, tested, working. Hope this helps.
You sure it's safe to modify build.prop?
Hi there. I've soft-bricked my phone in the past running Marshmallow by modifying the build.prop. You sure it's safe to modify to enable miracast? Any other tricks involved to prevent bricking the device?

Hi! I wanted to install this app for using it's floating window functionality, but when I go to enable it, as the screen is on landscape mode, and I guess the resolution is to low? (1280x600), instead of showing the entire window, it shows me only the red area on the picture, making it impossible to enable the "draw on screen" function.
Any guess?

So here was my process, I should mention this was on a PX5 Dasaita MTCD(E) I noticed after the fact this was for MTCB.
Installed system updates to latest, MCU as well, I then rooted the head unit and tried to use a resolution changing app to see if it would allow me to see the permission button, in doing so it got stuck sideways without showing apps and I had to factory reset the head unit and start over.
In the end after reorganizing and installing apps, the head unit is now unrooted I'm pretty sure, I went into the advanced menu in app permissions for Musixmatch, and toggled the "Draw over apps" switch to ON, it somehow seemed to work because it didn't when I tried that before root, all of a sudden the app started drawing over like normal and floating lyrics worked.
I mention all this only because it might have something to do with the root/fresh install that allowed it to work. At the end of the day the app is sort of sluggish, floating icon looks blurry, and it seemed to cause the unit to spaz out and freeze up when running the floating lyrics with Google Maps + Spotify, too much to handle I guess.
I hope it helps to some degree! My advice would be to mess with the permission setting and reboot it before rooting unless you're comfortable rooting just for the hell of it.
I can not get mouse toggle to work after upgrading my fire tv 2 box to 5.2.7.0_r1. Does anyone have it working? I even went to the app store and downloaded the latest one (remote for fire tv ) still no go. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Try disabling adb debugging from your developer options, and then re-enable it again, that worked for me on the same rom, I think theres something that's messing with the service, the app itself recommend you that if the state of the service is stuck on "starting" try that workaround, I think that would do the job.

No luck, tried that a few times. Thanks though.
there is a fix i found
it seems these guys have the latest APK file for the mouse toggle. it worked great on my fire tv. they also have a couple of troubleshooting guidelines.
I have a Fire TV 4k Is there a mouse toggle that works for it?
I have tried disabled/enabling ADB and the app always gets stuck on starting, reboot does nothing
I have hooked up a real mouse for **** sakes and the damn FireTV does not seem to support a mouse fully as I don't get a cursor on any app and you don't know where you are clicking. It really sucks as many sideloaded apps won't work fine without touch screen or a mouse cursor

Try this sequence from shell when mouse toggle is stuck on "starting" or the pointer is stuck:
