My screen is lifting from the device. Video shows it best:
Left side is worse than the right. No battery issues, so I don't suspect it is battery swelling, as some M7's had. My primary concern is it catching on something and smashing the screen, since it is now elevated above the black border. My thought is to apply some epoxy and hold it down - any reason why I shouldn't do that? Could it damage or seep into the glass/screen interface?
Some more pics attached. Third pic shows how I would try to get it back to with some epoxy along the edge.. other options (including just leaving it alone) appreciated.

Hey guys. I have the Telus HTC Touch Pro2, and I have noticed a problem. The part where the touch screen half of the phone makes contact with the keyboard part, causes a scratch on the keyboard part. There was plastic on this part before, but I removed it, and now it is scratching. I don't mind this, but just wanted to warn ppl not to remove the plastic.
I will post pics tomorrow.
I had a little piece of plastic just on the right side of the keyboard. I removed this, because I tought I missed it with unpacking my TP2. But now there is a little woggle(? mean little space between screen and keyboard), so everytime I press the screen on that side of the device I can feel and hear the two parts coming together. It's really annoing and it started when I removed the little piece of plastic. For my feeling it's a last fast hot fix by HTC.
But i don't see scratshes yet. I can see dirt on the left and right of the keyboard where the sliding is, but I can easily remove this. But on the longer term, I think there will be permanent 'dirt' aka scratches on both sites....but hey, when you don't want this to happen, put your device away and don't use it
Scratches fix.
As soon as i opened my TP2, i knew the clear plastics were for protection so i left them. In time the one on the right started to peel itself off. THE FIX... I removed it completely and colored it BLACK with a Sharpie Marker, pulled out some transparent scotch tape out of my drawer and carefully traced/cut it out with a sharp razorblade. Carefully stuck it back on and VOILA! A perfectly new replacement a-la' Jerry Rig! Maybe you can cut out 2 pieces ontop of one another to reduce the play when closed? Time = Approx. 10mins.
Hey guys. Yea I just wanted to leave this as a warning to other tp2 owners who thought the plastic was just packaging.
I can't take any pictures since the only other camera is a phone. It dosen't capture the scratches properly.
I left the stickers on. However, as it turned out later, one of the stickers wasn't applied properly. Eventually, the sliding motion caused that sticker to come off and bend just a little at one corner. I cut the bent part off, and the whole thing came of a few days later.
When you get your phone, make sure those stickers are applied properly, and squeeze out air bubble from underneath if needed.

Specifically, the spot is just left of mid-line and about a 1/3 of the way up from the bottom in portrait mode. If you have the wallpaper of the quill with the scribble (not the ink well), it is just to left of the quill tip. If I press on the corresponding spot on the back or flex the tablet from the sides a bit, a bright spot appears on lighter backgrounds (it doesn't show on dark backgrounds). A white background is back.
Ok, so everyone is going to say don't push or flex the tablet and I agree However, I bought the MoKo rotating case and when I snap it in firmly, this spot appears. I remove the tablet or loosen up the left side of the case, the spot disappears. The case appears to flex the tablet a bit, causing the display issue. I'm going to give another case a try, but MoKo is really the only rotating case, which I really liked.
Since the back of the tablet is "spongy" in this spot and allows it, I was trying to determine if this is a design issue with all of Note 8's or a manufacturing defect with mine. I went to a big box store to test, but they no longer have the Note 8's on display. However, all of the other Samsung tablet models have this issue in one spot or another. It seems Samsung has sacrificed sturdiness for a lower profile. So, I'm wondering if folks can help me determine if I should return this for another unit or deal with it.
I'd try flexing the cover's tabs some to see if I could alleviate the flexing... this is common on all tablets and phones since they are made to be as light as possible these days.
You might be able to heat the case holder with a hair dryer to make flexing/bending it easier.

I've seen this in mine. Definitely pressure flexing back plate pressure on the battery frame. The screws holding the battery will press from the back of the LCD and you'll see a bright dot. Relieve the flex/stress or the dot it permanently bruise.

DizzyDen,
Thanks for the suggestion. I did try flexing it back into shape, but to no avail.

dtvboy,
Thanks for confirming the issue. You are right, the spot does resemble the tip of a screw. I just received the fintie slim case and I no longer have the issue. I miss the rotating stand, but it's better than the distracting dot or damaging my tablet.
Chris
You could also try sanding the flat part of the rotating holder... anything to relieve the pressure it puts on the back of the Note... bending the corners forward on the holder might help as well.
My screen seems to be showing a bit of warping right at the bottom of the screen near the back and home buttons, right on the edge of the screen. Not so much that you notice but it warps the light if you use the screen to reflect the world, and only in that spot. Bit disappointed considering its a totally flat piece of glass!
Anyone else got this issue? Might get onto three about it. I'll see if it's widespread first.
I'll try get a picture later, or video if I can.
Warped like raised wavy or warped like wrapped screen that goes downwards into it at the edge? If either of those makes sense..
I saw that when in 120hz mode, but it looked more like an intended effect to me. It wasn't unpleasant in my eyes.
Also seemed to only happen on long scrolling windows. Short scrolling I could not see it.
I would say it's a pinch under the glass, but the glass looks fine, just reflections of the surroundings in the glass so right where the back button is. It's definitely not lifting and looks flat, but the light dances and create an almost m shape. It's far from anything serious, as you need to look for it, but just something to keep an eye on for early adopters.
I don't think the screen refresh affects it, as I can recreate with screen off.
Got pics from the screen, using my **** ipad camera. But you can see the warp. The white shelf is flat, being a shelf, so you can see it shows as straight up the screen then at the bottom forms an m shape.

Huh, i can see what your on about.
Mine doesnt have that, so maybe your device has a defect.
Hi, since I got up this morning the screen of my Note 10.1 has a white halo on it.
Do you think it's a hardware fault? New screens sadly cost double what a used note 10.1 would cost, but maybe its just a loose connector?
Its flickering and getting worse the more contrast it has to display.
Anyone have seen something like this before
That must be a mechanical defect. Probably someone sat or laid in the Note. One of the two glass plates or the rear polarizer have been bent in a concave ir convex shape.
Can also be caused by excessive heat, like on the small lcd in my car dashboard, where a similar phenomenon has started to occur more and more often and in a more severe manner recently, caused by sun exposure and the car's heater and disapperaing when cooling down.
Or delamination of the gapless touchscreen. Now there is a gap on the outsides.
Thx for the reply. I have the tablet hanging on the wall, using it as an interface for my home assistant, so the screen is on pretty much 24/7.
Therefore i can't really imagine that there was too much pressure on the screen at any time and heating up could've maybe happened if it locked up during the night, but that hasn't really happend ever and in the morining it was running just normal, except for the screen. The sun can't really get to it either.
Well good thing is the problem fixed itself. The affected area started getting smaller and smaller and the effect also lessend over time. About 2-3 days it took.
Maybe there was some moisture inside it or something idk
Something had snapped or bent from and then back into shape.
I'd suggest that it was heat related, bootlooping while charging, probably.
I could trace such with the history of my battery monitor app(complete with temps and for as long as i set the the range), but the course graph of the system battery monitor could have have provided hints, too. But that's long gone now.
My very first Android device was a tablet, that once too many went into a bootloop. During charging AND during the time of the exploding Galaxy Notes. The whole surface (metal and glass) had the same temperature, no more hotspots, and was almost too hot to touch(50c at least).
I'm not sure whether the screen was discolored, there was only the small boot logo on black, but i immediately threw the thing into the bin outside, display still glowing in the dark.
This is really dangerous when the device is connected to the mains and the surroundings not fire resistant.
In the meantime the battery of my P605 started to blow up.
Middle of backside and even touchscreen are bent outwards.
But the display is still fine, though this kind of malfunction could happen to me later.
Will get a replacement battery. The original one from 2013 still has more than 50% capacity, but is much thicker now...
Hi guys,
I have got a fold 3 but when I open it up it seems to be at about 175 degree rather than 180. If I look down the line along the top of the phone when open with one eye I can see it slightly bend off. Should the device open completely straight?
If I look at the back of the device when it's open, I can just see some of the samsung logo on the hinge, like a fingernail gap. Should the two edges of the phone be touching each other when open.
I will try add photos later.
^ Agree - mine does not sit perfectly flat on a desk either. There is always the slightest wobble. If you press down, it will go flat but then the small gap returns.
Yeah, I would worry about that as mine opens flat, you cannot see the Samsung Logo at all.
Yeah, it wobbles a little when open and laying flat because of the camera bump. That's normal. It should be open a full 180 degrees. Unless there is something wrong with mine. LOL!
Like @Talderon said, it should sit flat. When mine is unfolded I cannot see the hinge and the two edges touch.
HOWEVER... When I took it out of the box it was not like that! Like you said, mine didn't quite fold open to 180 degrees. Mine opened to about 178.5 degrees. Just not quite flat unfolded. I think the hinge may need a break in period, IDK?
But I did notice the same thing you did and when I went to check again, I noted it was reaching 180 degrees now. After two months of use is seemingly more fluid than when I originally folded it so I think the break in period is real thing with this hinge.
Mine stopped opening fully and I logged this with Samsung UK through the customer service app. I had to send them some photos and they arranged for an engineer to come round and do a home repair. He ended up changing the inner screen, outer screen and batteries, under warranty. He said he basically just put my Fold's motherboard in a new chassis.
Took him about an hour and it now folds completely flat, is stiffer and opens with a small snap as it becomes flat. Way different to the way it was before he changed everything over. The inner screen crease is also a lot less noticeable now than it was.
