Bit crappy limiting it to NA users only

Pretty weird selection of phones. Should be all the variants, for example, why the Verizon S6 Edge plus and not the AT&T?

The idea is to test drive upcoming Marshmallow firmware updates on a limited number of devices, get feedback from the users, and then fix potential bugs before a wider rollout to smartphones across the globe.

Any idea when the 4.2 update might drop_

I am interested in the Note II. I currently have a 4S and with the lack of a jailbreak the i5 is not appealing to me... I tried before with the skyrocket but it was such a bad phone that I really hated it and went back to the 4S. I find this phone extremely capable... 4.2 bring certain updates that might mimic lockinfo for iPhone and that is one huge important piece on why I have stayed on the jailbroken 4S.
Any idea on when this update is scheduled to hit? I only recently saw that the 4.1.2 was leaked but it appears is NOT for the 7105.
This phone has a lack of custom Roms as most of them (all) are for the non LTE version.
Really like the DNA, but not available on AT&T and I want an LTE phone.
Thanks

Dont post questions in the dev section!
-No way to know when 4.2 is going to come for Note II. In fact, 4.1.2 official hasn't been out yet, only the leaked unofficial version.
-Some may agree and some may disagree with me, but you really don't need custom roms for this phone. The stock experience is excellent out of the box.
-The DNA does have LTE, but on Verizon.

True... you don't need custom rom with the plethora of stuff for it... just root it and be done... hence why I wanted the 4.2 version for the lockscreen info.

I have 4.2 on my Nexus. Nothing in it that I need over 4.1.2
There is no ability to disable lock screen widgets, they annoy the heck out of me.
Swype in the keyboard we already have.
Quick settings is a joke. If they were toggles they would be useful.
Nothing makes me want 4.2 over 4.1.2 right now.

Hopeful
As much as I hope it is released for our phones, a single person who does live chats all day may not be the most rock-solid source. Any number of things could turn out to have happened, from misreading an information sheet before giving you said information to her being just plain wrong.
Thank you for posting this though, it is important that up to date information like that is made public. Its just that I'm not sure if one representative saying it is on its way is a complete confirmation.
Does anyone know how reliable these live chats usually are?

Not very reliable in this case since they are not allowed to give too much information out to the public. I posted a thread after I talked to one of Samsung's live representatives and they told me that the update would come in a matter of weeks. You can check my thread out if you want.

I was talking with AT&T repair regarding my phone freezing when switching from portrait to landscape since the 4.3 OTA and they told me they were not aware of a fix coming out for this, but that 4.4 will probably come out in a couple months and it may replace whatever is causing the problem. When I went to the Samsung Experience center to let them force the OTA onto my phone again to see if that would fix the issue, that tech said the same thing about 4.4 coming out, but he thought my freeze issue is hardware related.

Kit Kat does bring down memory usage, so if you use or want some of the S applications and features that Touchwiz has, you should see better performance due to released memory.
Theoretically that is, I've been on CM11 nightlies for awhile now.

4.4.4 has only been out for 4 months, you think you'd have it already on a carrier specific phone, and samsung at that? and with 4.4.4 being a minor update?
By the time 4.4.4 released, Sammy was already well into working on 5.0 Why do the work for a minor update when you could just go straight for the big release?

I was shocked when Verizon released it, they are usually really slow. ..
And to answer Techsavvy2's question, in Verizon at least, the GS5 4.4.4 update fixed many Bluetooth issues that were present in 4.4.2. But I agree with Tech's point in that new for new's sake is a little pointless.

At least it is good news
Hopefully as stated earlier in the thread it holds true for AT&T. Maybe they will realize with such a big OS release that people will want it sooner than later.
I have a feeling AT&T is going to delay it for at least a month while it figures out what features they want to disable to add in their own bloated, pay to use version of it !

LineageOS for Samsung S6/Samsung S6 Edge [All Varients]

Hey guys, I wanted to start on a build of LineageOS for the Samsung S6/Samsung S6 Edge that supports ALL variants (yes, including Sprint) since I notice that there is no one willing to put in a build for the device (Which is pretty much disappointing). Anyone have any idea where I can start? I don't have any extra devices lying around my house unfortunately so I can't exactly run tests on the builds without running them on my main (which poses a risk of completely messing up my phone like last time ).

That was in effect on the Note9 too (Project Treble?). Which, admittedly, the Note9 got Pie faster than the Note8 got Oreo (about two months sooner) but it was still February of the following year (after release). This seems much quicker!
If Samsung pushes out the latest software just weeks or a couple months after Google releases it, I'll be in utter shock. I confirmed it says its in testing on Tmobile site. I'm cautiously excited!
I don't doubt that it's in the testing phase. But that doesn't mean much - products can be in testing for a very long time. We can infer from this that we will (probably) get Android 10. That isn't a surprise. But we can't infer when that will happen.
I would not be so enthusiast about android 10, I read an article here in XDA about how convoluted the file management is

While testing products can last a very long time, typically when carriers state the next OS update is in the testing phase, that means they are fairly close to release. It means they have the final version and are making sure it works on their network prior to release.

I'm not so much excited about the update to Q itself, as I am the anticipation and leaks leading up to it. Honestly the leaked video of Q didn't really show anything groundbreaking, which is fine. Pie works great on this phone.

^This! I had Tmobile branded phones from the Galaxy S until my Note 10+. The longest I've waited once it went to testing was 6 weeks. Least was 2 weeks.
While I'm skeptical, I believe this isn't fake and maybe it's the next step for Samsung phones. Fingers crossed! (Go Project Treble?!?! )
