Unable to finish factory reset - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am about to RMA the phone for loose USB port, so I did a factory reset in android (after FOTA to the latest firmware yesterday).
The phone has showing Erasing for over 12 hours.
Long press power button to turn it off, entering recovery mode, it continues the wipe (Erasing) without giving me recovery options.
The normal procedure for recovery mode gives me "Formatting /data..." at the bottom of the screen. My phone is the 64GB version. Assuming I have 30GB of data, how much time does it take to finish the wipe? Or the memory/motherboard is bad?

[Q] Red triangle with exclamation mark

Hey
So my mobile will start up and be normal for abit then it reboots and shows the green logo like updating then goes to a red exclamation mark in a triangle.
I can't seem to do anything except take the battery out and then start it up again and it will happen again.
The only thing i have done to it today was play around with sync the phone to my PC and installed Android Commander on my PC and was just trying to change rights on the notifications folder but it kept saying i had to root my phone..
So that s about it.. It seems to work okay when the USB cable is connected to my PC i have unmounted my USB card.
and have also tried holding the power buttong and pressing the volume button whilst turning it on.
any suggestions? thanks
I take it your Rooted.... Just take your SD card out, link it with your pc, put the Rom you were using before on it or a new Rom, put back in ya phone & access the recovery menu via the bootloader screen (if you don't know how Google it), now once in clockwork mod recovery just wipe the partitions, then into advanced & wipe the dev cache, then flash your Rom! Reboot then should be fine again. If this doesn't work follow the steps again & do a full wipe after the dev cache wipe & then you will be ok. If this still doesn't work.... Google the rooted stock Rom for your phone, download that & follow the steps again.
Hope this helps

I never rooted my mobile? well i wasnt trying to if thats what happened and i haven't changed the rom everything is stock since when i got it.
You can start your phone normally without sdcard and it wont reboot?
i haven't rooted my phone.
i can start the phone without the sdcard it eventually then just freezes.. If i leave it it will then go to that screen with the red triangle and exclamation
If i hold the power + volume up button then i get the option to reboot , wipe cache , wipe data factory reset and i think another option about an SD card
so yeah i guess the main thing is it keep on freezing and locks up on me..
its wierd but if i have the usb connected to my PC it doesn't seem to freeze or anything or lock up :S
okay so if i start the phone up holding the power and volume up button and select recovery then it takes me to the red triangle with exclamation mark.
down the button it says E:cant open /cache/recovery/command
and i have the options
Reboot system now
APply update from sdcard
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe Cache partition.
Ive done the reboot and it starts up but then freezes again
wipe data factory reset and everything else you can wipe (except sdcard) - you will loose all installed apps and you have to resign to your google account, but maybe this will help.
EDIT: wipe data & cache
The red exclamation mark is the stock recovery, in that you can get to a basic menu with power + vol up.
Trying to boot the phone with power + vol up will do nothing, you can get to hboot with power and vol down though.
That E: Can't mount cache error could be a sign of a bad emmc though, which is a hardware issue you would need a new/replacement phone.

cheers deleting the cache has fixed it

[Q] Stock HTC One M8 Won't Boot

Would love some help, please. I have a completely stock HTC One M8 for Sprint. Last night I plugged in the phone to the AC charger (still had ~70% charge) and went to sleep. This morning the charge indicator was green as usual, but pressing the power button did nothing. Unplugged the phone from the charger and the LED remained green.
Tried press-hold power button for 10 seconds: no effect.
Tried press-hold power button and volume down. Select HBOOT, then RECOVERY. The phone vibrates and shows me the skateboarding androids, then reverts to the FASTBOOT menu.
Tried press-hold power button and volume down. Select HBOOT, then FACTORY RESET. The phone vibrates and shows me the skateboarding androids, then reverts to the FASTBOOT menu.
Tried requesting an Unlock_code.bin from HTCDev, then use fastboot to flash that. I see the transfer bar on my phone for an instant, but otherwise the display does not change. Still indicates *** LOCKED *** even though the fastboot command returned "OKAY".
Tried using abd.exe to list devices - none listed. Though fastboot.exe does return my serial number.
:fingers-crossed: Tried pres-hold power+volUP+volDWN for 2 minutes. Phone booted as normal, I swiped my unlock on the touchscreen, HTC Sync saw my phone, then the screen went black and I couldn't get it to boot. Sorry I did not notice what charge level the battery was in the GUI for the ~10 seconds the phone was on.

update - still won't boot, but ...
Update: still won't boot, but now I can get recover mode to run. Tried wiping cache partition and rebooting. Now it boots to the HTC (android) logo, then the Sprint animation plays, then the HTC One animation plays, though the audio portion only plays for the 1st second and cuts off suddenly. Then it just hangs there forever. I left it for an hour at that point just to make sure it wasn't booting really slowly.
Any way to boot from something on an SD card so that I can at least get my userdata partition backed up?

Sorry to say this, but all your data is gone since you factory reset from bootloader, that always wipe your phone. What recovery you had when you pressed it, if it was custom like trwp your internal sd is more likely corrupted. The easier option to get the phone back to working state is to run ruu if there is any for Sprint.

Thanks for the reply. Actually I listed my attempted fixes in order... i.e. I was able to get the phone to boot once for a few seconds - long enough to see my personal home screen and photos - after I had clicked on that factory reset option.
I have a theory. The RAM is bad. That would explain why sometimes it will partly boot and then get stuck, other times it will get stuck in a bootloop to the fastboot menu, and other times (only one time so far) it will completely boot. Also, if I go to the RAMDUMP option, at the bottom of that screen it shows mostly non-ASCII characters and vibrates every ~5 seconds. If I go to IMAGE CRC, it sometimes instantly shows 0x0 next to each device, other times takes a while to calculate believable values for each, and other times won't display anything and freezes.
Think that's plausible? Suppose there is any way to boot from sdcard and retrieve my userdata partition? I did not have a sdcard in when this originally happened, so all my family photos are in userdata and I haven't backed up since my 4-year old's birthday party last weekend.
Any way to get my userdata off this phone, or do an in place upgrade without hosing m
Anyone? Help?

Moto 360 "Factory Reset" not working

I have problem with my Moto 360. I cannot factory reset my Moto 360. When I select factory reset and then confirm on green button it only shuts down, does NOT reset it self to factory default. How do I hard reset it via Home button or bootloader?
Anyone?
What is your battery level when resetting? I found mine had to be 80% or more for a reset.
I do have the same problem
Even while the battery is fully charged. Was in touch with motorola support and they say that I do have to RMA my watch ... I hope that there is also another way ...
I have the same problem!!!

Hi, this is my first post, so please bare with me. I had the same issue. I would attempt to factory reset using the option in the settings on the watch. The watch would showed a shutting down message and then restarted. However, it would usually either get stuck on the "M" screen and require a hard reset (holding down physical button for 25 seconds) or require me to place on charger and attempt to turn on again. (sometimes it would even be caught in a constant reboot sequence).
I did find a way though to factory reset the device. I enabled the lock screen option which is in the regular watch settings menu. Once I enabled a password pattern, I locked the device (again an option in settings). Then I attempted to unlock the device. After 3 attempts I was timed out (not sure how long, maybe a few minutes). Then I tried 3 more wrong password patterns, again timed out. I tried another 3 attempts, and now (after a total of 9 tries), the device asked me if I wanted to factory reset. I clicked yes and it restarted. When it turned on the device was factory reset!
A couple notes, I tried this twice. The first time it worked and restarted and was factory reset, no issue. The second time I tried this (a few days later), the device froze on the restart sequence, but after a physical hard reset (hold button for 25 seconds) it restarted and was actually factory reset.
Hopefully this helps. Let me know if it works for you as well. The watch also seems to work better after a factory reset, but I guess that's true with most devices.
Cheers!
I have exactly the same problem and lock screen trick does not work for me.
Every time I try to do the factory reset the watch just turns off. No reset.
My ultimate problem is that I have changed phones and now I can not connect the watch to any of them.
-------
Update:
After many tries I was able to do factory reset. So keep trying folks
i had to charge device 50+ and it factory resetted after reboot
moto 360 2nd gen stuck on start up screen
I have a similar problema but happened after the last update, and havenĀ“t been able to hard reset since it only shows the boot mode option on Normal Powerup. Ideas anyone? Is there a physical way of hard resetting the wathc beside the button?
I had the same problem but was able to revert back to a TWRP backup that remembered my watch, then after turning on the watch wi-fi and trying a few more times, power cycling the watch, etc it finally reset while on the charger about about 75% charge. YAY now its connected and updating ... seems to have worked

If the device is updated to Android Wear 6.0, follow these external reset instructions:
Power off the watch by holding the Power key for more than 15 seconds.
With device off, press and hold Power key. Hold the Power key until the watch vibrates 3 times. This takes about 5 seconds. ( WORKED ONLY WHILE THE WATCH WAS ON THE DOCK)
A black and white text screen will display Bootloader Version: 954 (if it displays anything below that, those instructions do not apply to your device).
Boot of this screen should show: Boot Mode: Normal Mode.
Press the Power key to cycle the boot mode until it shows: Boot Mode Recover Mode.
Press the Power key for about 1 second to boot into Recovery Mode.
Device will boot in recovery mode with the image of an android on its back.
Swipe up or down on the screen to see Recovery Mode UI and swipe left to select it.
Swipe down to find Wipe Data/factory Reset option and swipe left to select the option.
Swipe down to Yes and swipe left to select it.
The UI will show Wiping Data Screen.
The device will come back to recovery mode UI.
Swipe left to select the Reboot option.
Factory reset unavailable - this worked for me
I have a MOTO 360 first edition, and the only settings option it showed was a combined unpair from bluetooth and factory reset option. It didn't work.
Note: I did charge the watch full before attempting this form of reset. Thanks, leothelionman!

I can't swipe up or down in recovery mode any options?
I had to power down using the settings menu, the 25 second hold didn't work. Keeping it on the dock, I pressed the button until it vibrated once, then twice. To select recovery mode, I clicked the button once, then held it down until I saw the Moto logo. After that, I could follow the on-screen instructions to select factory reset.

Not getting on recovery mode in order to wipe all data

Hi, I have a Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML (64 GB). My phone's screen is flickering and I'm trying to do factory reset. It also has other software problems. The thing is that it won't do any factory reset from it's menu and not getting on recovery mode screen when I boot, in order to wipe data. When I press power button and volume up shows the first screen, which have 4 options and whatever I do I keep getting this screen. I can get the recovery mode screen. Is that possible to do something with adb commands?

Mi6 not wiping

After long lying my mi6 began booting only in FastBoot mode.
Normal boot only from 2 buttons. Bootloader menu not opened.
Upon attempt Factory Defaults, phone was only rebooting, but all data is saved.
I booted from bootloader image and flashed LineAge 18.1.
But phone all the same is booting only from 2 buttons and Factory Defaults only rebooting phone without deliting data.
