How to Compile Your Kernel
What do You Need?
- A Linux Distro
- One Brain
- And Patience!
My Distro Tips:
Ubuntu
elementary OS
For Virtual Machines or Simple Notebooks Recommend:
Xubuntu Core
Ubuntu Mate
Lubuntu
Before you start compiling recommend installing these tools:
sudo apt-get install libcap-dev texinfo automake autoconf libgmp-dev libexpat-dev python-dev build-essential gcc-multilib g++-multilib libncurses5-dev flex bison;
Then create a folder with the name you want.
Download the font you want . And the toolchain you prefer.
Edit the Makefile to its source with the address of the bin of your toolchain.
Example:
ARCH ?=arm
CROSS_COMPILE ?=/your folder/toolchains/your toolchain/bin/arm-eabi-

please compile for exodus. it is one of the most stable AOSP around.

Feature request;
1.- LCD Power save
2.- More governors
3.- LMK customizations.
4.- I guide from you to compile AOSP and TW kernels. (Optional) haha thanks @treborbr

SlimSaberKat
Unofficial SlimKat build - Alucard kernel
Rom built with SaberMod 4.8.4 toolchain
Kernel built with SaberMod 4.9.2 toolchain
Fast, smooth and stable
I proudly present SlimSaberKat.
SlimSaberKat is built from SlimKat source with SaberMod 4.8.4 compiler and "JustArchi's ArchiDroid Optimizations" V3 build optimisations like O3, strict aliasing and many more to make the ROM even faster and smoother. If you want to see all optimization flags set for building this ROM, have a look a look at this commit, line 73-83.
I could cherry-pick some commits ahead from SlimRom team or patches from other repositories if I find them useful.
If you want to know more about build optimization and the build flags used to build SlimSaberKat I can advise you to read this post by @JustArchi.
SlimSaberKat ROM comes with Alucard's great AOSP kernel.
I will follow the weekly and stable builds of the official ROM and if there are interesting commits I will try to make a midweekly build.
Disclaimer
I'm not responsible for any damages on your device.
Please don't discuss these "unofficial" builds in the official SlimKat thread.

Changes in most recent version
Most recent version:
ROM: SlimSaberKat-jflte-4.4.4-20141014 (SlimKat 8.6 weekly)
Kernel: stock
F.A.Q
No root
Q: I did a clean flash and don't have root access.
A: Rood access is disabled by default on SlimKat. you need to enable it in "Developer options" set root access for Apps and ADB.
New gapps
Q: There is a new gapps version, how do I flash it.
A: Minor gapps updates can be flashed on top off the old version. For major updates it's often recommended by the Slim team to wipe the systems partition and flash ROM and gapps. Alternatively you can deleted system/addon.d/80-gapps.sh or 81-aio_gapps.sh and flash ROM and gapps. This prevents the old gapps to be restored during ROM flash but will allow you to keep all other custom scripts in the addon.folder.
Removed system files
Q: I have removed a couple of system apps, do I need to do that again after every dirty ROM flash.
A: A dirty ROM flash will restore all the ROM's system apps. You can however use a script to remove whatever you want from the ROM when you dirty flash a ROM. See this and this post on how to do that and many other cool things you can do with those scripts.
DPI settings
Q: How can i change the DPI and what's the original S4 stock DPI.
A: DPI Settings are not included in the ROM yet, until then you can use Texdroider DPI. Default Stock DPI is 480.
New kernel flash
Q:I flashed a new Alucard kernel (or SlimSaberKat with new kernel included) and now not everything is working as expected.
A:This can happen when the kernel settings options are changed (in Ramdisk), to correct this delete the "data/.alucard" folder and reboot. That will reset your kernel setting.
Dalvik to ART
Q: How do I switch from Dalvik to ART, how do I do it.
A: As with every major change, start by making a backup, the follow this tutorial by @Jimsilver73
SlimKat stock kernel
Q: Where can I download the SlimKat stock kernel
A: It can be found here, thanks to @hawkerpaul
Tips and tricks
If you want to make Slim even Slimmer @s3icc0 made an overview of apps that are safe to remove
To make you're phone feel even faster consider lowering "Windows animation scale", "Transmission animation scale" and "Animation duration scale" in Developer options. Also if you are using Nova Launcher you might want to increase the Scroll and Animation speed.

I switched straight away (before first boot) back to KT kernel, it's MUCH better than alucard kernel. Other than that the rom seems good so far. (Not as fast as Archi made out in his thread, or even as fast as regular sabermod, but still quite good) thanks for other new rom for our s4 I will continue to to test and give feedback.
Edit: my hangouts notifications don't come thru with the screen off they only show up with screen on

F.A.Q (Frequently Asked Questions)
What is the difference between these builds and the official builds?
These are unofficial builds of SlimKat for the Xperia Z1/Honami/C6903
ROM is built using the same source code (github) like the official one but with these following additions:
Compiled using linaro arm-eabi 4.9.1 14.07 (kernel code) & sabermod arm-linux-androideabi 4.8.4 14.07 (rom code) toolchain compilers
May contain some custom cherry-picks. Always see changelog for details.
Cross-compiled using those custom toolchains results in a more smoother, faster, and battery friendly ROM
What is Toolchain?
In software, a toolchain is the set of programming tools that are used to create a product (typically another computer program or system of programs). The tools may be used in a chain, so that the output of each tool becomes the input for the next, but the term is used widely to refer to any set of linked development tools.
A simple software development toolchain consists of a compiler and linker to transform the source code into an executable program, libraries to provide interfaces to the operating system, and a debugger. A complex product such as a video game needs tools for preparing sound effects, music, textures, 3-dimensional models, and animations, and further tools for combining these resources into the finished product.

What is SaberMod?
The term "SaberMod" is coming from:
SaberMod is a AOSP based ROM with some extra features added in and mostly from CyanogenMod. SaberMod started out pure AOSP when android 4.2.1 launched. Originally it was pure AOSP with a few extra features I ported over from CyanogeMod and linaro optimizations. Then I rebased everything off of rasbeanjelly because I liked many features found in rasbean. Since then I've modified a lot of the code so not much of it is rasbeanjelly based anymore. But you will still find some commonly used features found in rasbeanjelly. SaberMod is not a rasbeanjelly or CM clone, or KANG. Custom kernels are included for certain devices when available. These are personal builds we make for ourselves and originally became very popular in the nexus 7 forums. Features are very rarely added, and are built to SaberMod's team members liking. Currently there are two members of SaberMod working on this project. Myself and @jarjar124 . Please understand our time is limited and we are only two people who have lives, and do not have 25-50 members like CyanogenMod to add things. And our goal is not to add a bunch of features that bloat the system of the ROM.

What is Linaro?
Linaro is the place where engineers from the world's leading technology companies define the future of Linux on ARM. The company is a not-for-profit engineering organization with over 120 engineers working on consolidating and optimizing open source software for the ARM architecture, including the GCC toolchain, the Linux kernel, ARM power management, graphics and multimedia interfaces.

About GCC main compiler cflags
-O1
Optimize. Optimizing compilation takes somewhat more time, and a lot more memory for a large function. With -O, the compiler tries to reduce code size and execution time, without performing any optimizations that take a great deal of compilation time.
-O2
Optimize even more. GCC performs nearly all supported optimizations that do not involve a space-speed tradeoff. As compared to -O, this option increases both compilation time and the performance of the generated code. -O2 turns on all optimization flags specified by -O.
-O3
Optimize yet more. -O3 turns on all optimizations specified by -O2 and also turns on the -finline-functions, -funswitch-loops, -fpredictive-commoning, -fgcse-after-reload, -ftree-loop-vectorize, -ftree-slp-vectorize, -fvect-cost-model, -ftree-partial-pre and -fipa-cp-clone options.
-Os
Optimize for size. -Os enables all -O2 optimizations that do not typically increase code size. It also performs further optimizations designed to reduce code size.

For now it will only work on ROMs based on CM/AOSP.
Then I will compile a version for TW. I'm just seeing baseband will use. I'll let you choose: http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=i9500
Works on all roms based on CM/AOSP.

Im happy to see another kernel being developed for our phone . Just wanna say that if you make a kernel for TW please please take stability into consideration. I wish there is a kernel that offers more flexibility over TW but still maintains its consistency.
Does this supports synapse?
Thanks My Teacher ;D
These basebands are the latest? It is that how my internet is slow will build on the latest baseband and that you prefer.
I'll do a version for TW but for now I'm choosing baseband yet. If you can look at previous messages and help choose the best.

Will check this out
One question, is this based on your update of CM13, 'cause I'm currently using that and it is perfect.

Yes it is.
I will say one thing about this ROM.Although it has few,if any customization options at this point. It is very very smooth and super fast.

Ok thank
4G?
Hi there,
anyone tried this ROM yet? Yesterday I updated from 0.1 to 0.2. since 0.1 was running very stable. No battery drain or camera crashes eg.
Though its not really possible to switch connectivity to something else as 2G/3G/4G-LTE in the menu, it seems to use just 2G-Edge, right? Same in 0.1.
Anyway, thank you for this ROM!
