Hi,
Ive got an unlocked A5_UL, Insertcoin Custom ROM.
I'm using Apps2SD to link my Apps to my 2nd Partition, but i still have got very low internal memory because of the .thumbnails folder.
On Android ICS there was a possibility to swap sd and internal sd with the vold.fstab..
Is this on Android 5.0 still possible? And could it be done with the 2nd partition?
I have read something about unpacking boot.img and modifying build.prop but i dont understand how to do that.
Has anyone an idea?
Tobi
I found an app called "Image Kitchen" and upacked my boot.img (the original in the Insertcoin ROM zip).
Can the "fstab.qcom" swap the sdcards?
I attached the file, i hope someone can help me :0

Hi,
I'm about to update with a new custom ROM since the one I have didn't have A2SD+ and there's just not enough space (came with MoDaCo custom ROM without additions when I got it). But I can't find any guides on how to format my SD correctly with my MacBook, do you guys know any? And do I need to download Android SDK?
Also, how big is the difference between A2SD and A2SD+? I only have the 4GB SD that came in the box.
Thanks.
Can I use ROM Manager to partition my SD card?
EDIT: Sorry mods, should've posted this in General, I guess. Please move.
You can partition in recovery. I have a Mac too and that's the only way I did it.
The main difference between A2SD and the + variety is that Dalvik cache is also moved to the SD card when using A2SD+.
Thanks! But everything on my SD card will be erased, right? Will I still be able to update the ROM after? Or should I update first?
Sorry, first time doing this.
Backup all the contents of your card to your Mac first. Flash the ROM, then before booting up for the first time, partition your SD card. Boot up your phone and copy back the contents of your card to the FAT 32 partition. I used to set up my card like this: swap-0mb, ext2-512mb, fat32-remainder. Then convert ext2 to ext3.
Also remember to do a full wipe before flashing the ROM.

Okay, I will try that! Thanks!

But, I see two versions : Data++ and A2SD++, What do they mean ? I kown I have to do a EXT3 1 Gb Partition on my microSD. Can I do it with my Ubuntu Linux or I have to do it with GParted Live CD ?
Thanks in advance !!!

Data++ is a technique that was first implemented and tested by ClassicalDude. Using a re-laid out nand MTD, only the davlik-cache is retained in the internal memory. All .apk's are moved to the SD-EXT partition, where they are rarely accessed. This means a HD RoM can be fit in 180MB, leaving a lot of room for userdata which will remain in the internal memory. This results in a lightning fast ROM which stays fast through with no lag whatsoever during market downloads etc. Add to this the cool fix from coolexe and baadnewz that creates a dynamically resizable ram-disk for market downloads: and you have a great RoM that doesn't need to waste space for cache and will never have a market download fail!]/quote]http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=992176

A2SD+ is a script which moves all apps you install automatically to an ext partition on your sd card. You must not do anyhting. If you use "move to sd card" in application settings, the app will be moved to fat32 partition of sd card. Android can only difference between apps in " internal memoory" and in "fat32 partition of sd card". Furthermore, with A2SD+ the dalvik-cache will be also moved to the sd ext partition on your sd card (which does not happen, if the rom is only using a2sd).
To sum it up, a2sd+ moves only apps and dalvik-cache to an ext partition on your sdcard, whereas data++ also moves some system apps to it. That's the reason why roms with data++ works with less space for internal system partition.
You can use Ubuntu to partition your sd card. If gparted is not included (I do not remember, installed ubuntu some time ago), you can download it from ubuntu software center (search for "gnome partition editor").
What do you think I should choose ?

I cannot say it, I did not employ with the advantages of each script. Compare both advantages and disadvantages, and then pick.
Last question ^^,
I made a GoldCard to install the official Froyo months ago, now I want to change my microSd to a 8Go one, do I have to make it GoldCard (to install a Custom ROM) ?

No. The goldcard has nothing to do with the rom. It's only connected to sd card. You can stay with the one you have.
Thanks a lot man !!
I've installed my first ROM, but the lockscreen isn't working. (And the weather app doesn't show any graphics, only text).
This is what I did:
Installed Recovery using the Unrevoked program
Installed the AceSMod007 v34 STOCK hboot zip
I was low on space as I hadn't set up an ext4 partition.
So I:
Wiped data/cache/dalvik
Created a FAT32, a 1GB ext4 and a 32MB linux-swap partition.
Installed the AceSMod007 v34 STOCK hboot zip
Solved the low space issue, but the lockscreen and weather app aren't working.
Tried:
Wiped data/cache/dalvik/battery stats
Deleted and re-created the FAT32, ext4 and linux-swap partitions.
Installed the AceSMod007 v35 STOCK hboot zip
Still the same issue...
Should I use the CM7 hboot version instead of the STOCK hboot version? (I don't know the difference...)
Or what am I doing wrong?

Ensure u have 1 fat32 partition followed by 1 ext partition..nothing else have to be created (u dont need swap i think)
both have to be primary partition and have to be in that order
some users that had ur same problem had done some mistaken creating the ext partition..after the partition is ok, wipe and reflash the rom
I have a FAT32 partition followed by a ext partition and they are both primary.
The App2SD is working fine, so the ext partition should be working, right?

Am I using the correct ROM version? (STOCK vs CM7)
I made it work! I extracted the sdext directory from the AcesMod007 zip and made a new zip containing just that and flashed it. That did the trick!
Anyone know why the original zip failed to flash the sdext part?
And the Zip contained the sdext folder or just the folders in it?

Sorry, don't understand what you mean...
I followed these steps and it didn't work for me. Did you extract the sdext folder from v39 or v38?

It was actually the v35...
You probably didn't add an update script. You can use the atttached zip. Just add the content from the sdext folder to the attached zip.
I just installed it again using the zip and the sdext folder contents from v39 but it is still not working. Maybe it is a bug in v39?
It doesn't working neither at me
Hi Everyone,
I'm currently stuck on "Internal memory low.." on my HTC Desire. What I did was loaded a custom Cool3D v5 ROM and says I have no memory internally. I followed somewhere in the forum a tuts for partitioning an sd card with a live linux cd. I partitioned my 2GB sd card to a 1.3GB fat32 and a 512mb ext4 format. I used clockwork to install from Cool3D.zip. Hope someone will help me fix the issue.
Thanks and would appreciate a response from you guys.

Yeah you've probably flashed the CM7 version that will have enough Data partition to take it but you're on stock Hboot so you need to flash the zip file as above.
Or take the plunge and S-Off and change to the CM7 or CM7/R2 HBoot!
hi
Thanks guys. I got it figure out just after I posted this thread. I forgot to flash Stock_Hboot.zip and after I got it working. Will I need the RcTweaks For Stock Hboot, does it force applications to close? What's it for, sorry for asking too much question I am totally noob though I have a bit background in UNIX. Thanks again!
Hi due to memory problems or lack of it with my HTC Desire (tried all the usual unrooted tweaks) I decided to root my phone. I followed a guide from the forum and it was success. I have flashed various ROM’s and had a play but struggled to find a one with a suitable user friendly email program until in the end I opted for RCMix S V2.0 A2SD CM7Hboot from the link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988570/
This is similar to my stock ROM which the only issue was lack of space. The other reason I opted for this was I thought it included A2SD which would allow me to move apps etc from internal storage freeing space. I partitioned my SD card using Gparted 1gb ext4 which shows in ES File explorer on the phone.
Problems I have had I can’t flash the radio android flasher wont run on the PC it says the file hasn’t installed properly but I have tried it several times but just the same?
I can’t find A2SD on my phone after installing a few small apps I am all ready getting the low storage message. I downloaded Darktremor Apps2SD from the market but this requires scripts. I downloaded the scripts zip file and added this to the sd card flashed the zip from recovery but on reboot the phone jus stays at the white screen with HTC on it?
So my questions are do I need to flash a radio?
Where is A2SD and how do I use it to free memory?
How do I use my sd card partition?
Regards,
Darren.
was gonna reply then saw your query being mostly resolved here.
for what its worth, that rom has its own guide which may also help you.
