Folks,
G4, non rooted, running 13B.
How do I stop the VZW voice that keeps telling me I have lost service?
My job is in a basement and this bleeping voice keeps going off telling me I lost signal, doh! Its annoying as hell. I already have most things disabled or off.
Is it hidden somewhere?
ty
nobody?????????????????????????
dang I have spent some time trying to run this down.
I am missing "network tones" in the sound effects
I have no ERI,, "Enhanced Roaming I............." listed under mobile data
No networks tab , just wi-fi advanced, mobile data tabs.
I have read that this cannot be stopped.....................never had this with any other phone............wtf
somebody got to know something I'm begging here.
"smiley banging head"
OK I have discovered what I did wrong.
In the sound effects file, there is an option for roaming sounds. Tick this and when you lose service, make/receive a call, theres a msg sqwauk . Untick and no alert msg.
Now the rub. Upon enabling the "oem unlock" option under developer option, you remove the roaming sounds option from the sound effects file! So you will bury the option with whatever current setting you gave it.
So do not enable the oem unlock option until they give up the bootloader unlock codes, unintended consequences.

Dears;
I use the phone to track my runs with Sportstracker.
To run the app I need to turn on the phone's Bluetooth and GPS.
I'd like to disable the phone network as I do not like to get calls when running.
If I go on fly mode it disables the Bluetooth.
Is there a way to disable only the phone network (other than removing the SIM) ?
Thanks
1. Set your phone to Silent Mode (hehe...dumb one)
or
2. Download a call blocker from Market (Several free ones allow you to divert all calls from an area code or country code)
or
3. Activate call divert to your voice mail for all calls (should be somewhere in call settings)
You can turn off the phone radio with *#*#4636#*#* then goto "Phone Information" scroll down and press "Turn off radio"
Thanks Mark..that was what i was looking for!
All,
I, like others have had a living nightmare with repeated 'Unfortunately LG IMS has stopped working' which keeps popping up every few seconds. I noticed it happened after wifi lost connection, and the network switched to mobile data. Most annoying as I was having to press it up to 20 times when in car as I was driving along!!! I was so desperate I even asked LG for help, and at one point considered reading the manual
I tried everything - even factory reset and nothing worked.
Mine is a LG 818N dual sim model imported into UK, (running on Sim1 - three and Sim2 o2) so not sure if this is factor.
I think I have found a solution at last.
Go into the hidden menu - on phone dialler, dial 277634#*#
When in the menu, select Field test > Modem settings > VoLTE on/off > Subscriber and untick IMS to disable it. I restarted the phone, and the annoying messages were gone.
I believe IMS can be turned off without any major loss of functionality - if anyone knows the effect, please post here for others. So far I can't see any difference other than I can use my phone again
HEY, I was searching for an answer these days too, and just 10 mins ago I flashed back to ver.10b hoping that it will help...... anyway thanks for your tip there.

VoLTE is an improvement over GSM and WCDMA voice service and is the 'wave of the future'. As such LG and the associated operators who use LTE and VoWLAN, voice over the WiFi, Wireless Access Network should be fixing this sooner rather than latter.
This is mostly LG's problem but the buck has to stop with your service provider because that is who you pay for delivering service that is not crapola. The network service operator must arrange their network to use VoLTE and switch from voice over WiFi to VoLTE. Both of these are IP based, using the same basic set of protocols as a common web browser. The advantage of that is voice can be embeded into and between applications including integration into social networking, picture posting and exchange, video conferencing apps, etc. VoLTE is much more agile and should be made much more seamless, ie. without drops, and poor quality. VoLTE is able to pack more calls on the network at higher fidelity than all other voice. '3D'+ multiplexed voice and software voice cancellation, for example, can be done, potentially using multiple devices watching an event, for example. This can be be the direction of evolution or it can stick with the old glitchy voice networks of the past.
LG IMS has to do with the WiFi-Calling feature.
There's a safer way to fix this problem. In the hidden menu, rather than disabling VoLTE, scroll down a bit (in the same menu "VoLTE on/off") to "IP Version." Change this setting from "IPV6V4" to "IPV4V6." If the problem persists, change it to "IPV4," and the problem should vanish.
A LOT of networks don't support IPv6 yet.
airplane mode
the "Unfortunately LG IMS has stopped working" sometimes keeps popping up before you can set up the hidden menu options.
by setting your phone to [ airplane mode ] -- this will help you get through the hidden menu settings.
In india it must be ON for VoLTE services . and i never dealt with the this kind of ims stopped problem
Hi, I've got a following problem with my G2 I'm using outside of us, the Roaming options is simply missing from the setting, also there is no roaming checkbox in the mobile data, tried different roms, both stock and mods and these options are still missing. The phone is sim unlocked atm but when it was locked there still were no options. With some sim cards it works totally fine but with others it gives an annoying message from the call guard. The phone is not activated with Sprint, can this be a cause? Also if it is the cause is it possible to somehow activate it remotely being outside of US? Any help appreciated
Hi Guys,
was just checking under network, advance calling, there is an option of activate wifi calling
I clicked on it and after a few minutes, it says please try again later. I'm chatting with Verizon tech now. Any one got this to work, or is it just not done rolling out yet?
Edit they told me I need to reset my phone. I doubt that has anything to do with it, I just froze a few apps.
Thanks.
I don't know about yours. But on my G4 I am not allowed to have it since mine is prepaid plan. I click on it and nothing happens.
Is this on the Marshmallow update?
I am on Lollipop and I have:
Grayed out "Activate Advanced Calling" - which is disabled because I have the MyVerizon app disabled.
then
Advanced Calling
--HD Voice (enabled)
--Video Calling (enabled)

I do believe it's limited to the Marshmallow update. I didn't get long enough to test lollipop when I got my phone in the mail today before it updated to MM. But I did a TON of research before getting the phone and think I remember reading and seeing a few places on youtube that it's a MM feature only. Sadly I'm prepaid so I'm left out of the loop.
I use Google Voice to make free calls via WiFi using Google Hangouts Dialer. Doesn't depend on Verizon or G4 apps.
FYI guys you need my Verizon login enabled don't disable Verizon bloatware .
Works now !
Interesting...
I have been on the fence about switching to T-Mobile for the Wi-Fi calling and the fact that they offer a 4G capable femtocell. I just came across this on the VZW website:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/wificalling/
It would seem they are now advertising the G4. I wish the customer service reps would be trained to know this...
I recently purchased a new Sprint Z2 Force and activated it on Ting (it has only ever been on Ting and never on Sprint directly). Both Sprint and Ting support WiFi calling on this phone, but WiFi calling is not listed under the WiFi settings or in the Call settings of the dialer. However if I search in the settings for WiFi calling, I can see a WiFi Calling Settings in the App Info section, yet there is no way to turn it on or open those settings. I have updated the profile multiple times and also did a factory reset.
Am I missing something or is there something missing in the software since it never got activated directly on Sprint?
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
I do the custom rom thing and i sort of remember it just being there however, if you have not already checked "Mobile Networks" - under main phone settings, select "Network & Internet" once there, select "Mobile Network" - you'll see your carrier stuff/APN there I believe if you select "enhanced 4G LTE Mode" (you may have to make LTE you're preferred network mode in order to enable and/or display that option, again this was already there on mine. But see if that opened up any new menu items elsewhere i.e. back in the dialer app settings under "calls".
Did your phone come with a sprint SIM? Do you have the other carrier bloatware on there like Sprint ID? I know what you meant earlier about a possible software bypass, but all of that stuff is deff on the phone somewhere like you observed in App info, it may just be a matter of popping in a sprint SIM card to unleash it..
I continued to look into this for you. Sprint's name for Wifi calling is, well was -"Calling Plus". I found this article that advises one of the recent update removed the feature;
https://community.sprint.com/t5/Buz...alling-PLUS-Service-Decommission/ba-p/1017775
Since you got the sprint version you still have lots of software modification options. I also have sprint z2 foce, but I get better coverage on a GSM netwrok so my device is half sprint\half tmobile and I can deff say the wifi calling works. There's tons of information on here I can always help direct ya, but at least you're not crazy it WAS there.
lastly just to be sure, this has to be done prior,
"Log into your Ting account online and go to Device settings. Find the device you want to enable Wi-Fi calling for and click the edit icon in the Minutes section."

Thank you for all the info so far! Here are some answers and additional info:
My phone did come with a Sprint Sim in it and that is the one I am using. Also there is not any of the Sprint Bloatware on the phone. If I search "Sprint" in my settings area, there is a My Sprint Launcher that is listed as Disabled and there seems to be no way to enable it, which is similar to the WiFi Calling Settings that shows up when I do a search for it in the settings. Also if I look at the Apps and "Show System" apps, Mobile ID is there which is the Sprint ID software I believe, but again it is Disabled with no option to enable it.
The WiFi calling is turned on in the Ting account.
The Calling Plus feature was disabled by Sprint in that link you shared, but that just disables WiFi calling over LTE. It does say regular WiFi Calling should be available.
On my phone when I go to Network & Internet > Cellular Networks> I see my Preferred Network Type which was Automatic, I switched it to LTE/CDMA. That does not seem to have opened any additional settings for me in the dialer or elsewhere.
Thanks again for all your support. If you have any other suggestions, let me know, but you have offered a lot already.
