Hi,
I've attempted the JB update
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737899..
fastboot flash boot boot.img etc.. which said all was well..
But now find that my phone will not boot up, doesn't get past the Google and unlock screen.
I've tried all combinations of volume buttons, I can get to the fasboot menu where I can choose either Recovery Mode, Power Off, Start or Restart bootloader.
None of these appear to do anything, recovery goes to the google a screen followed by an Android on it's back with an exclamation mark over it.. then goes to the Google and unlocked icon screen and stays there...
I fear my phone is bricked... Please help..

1.) Your phone is far from bricked at all. You have access to the boot loader (i.e. the screen with the options). The recovery you're seeing is stock recovery. All you need to do is go into boot loader and fastboot flash recovername (CWM) and you will have your custom recovery back to wipe data and reinstall a rom or restore a nandroid backup
Mine is doing the same thing, weird thing is, it was working since yesterday on jellybean, it just randomly froze this morning and and now won't boot..
im currently at work so i don't have admin rights to do a fastboot flash..
any idea why it would randomly stop working when i havn't flashed anything on it besides the jb rom?
Sorted..
Thanks for the comments.. yeah i was over-reacting a bit there..
I downloaded the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit, got a stock rom form gopogle, flashed it.. back to normal, well, it will be after i restore the CWM backup i took.. phew..
Thanks again
Ian.
Still stuck
I'm also stuck in the same situation(google with the unlock screen). I fear I'm a little more stuck. I also can see the recovery/restartbootloader screen. However, everything I try still comes back to that same google screen and gets hung up. Need some help!
this has happened twice today and i think it from using volume+

Boot into recovery, wipe cache, Reboot
(Originally posted this in the wrong forum, so I am reposting here.)
I have the Galaxy Note II with T-Mobile.
Some background: It was running Android 4.1.2. I rooted my phone once, about two weeks ago, just so I could take an image of it in case of an update issue. (I think the software was called nandroid.) Once I took the backup, I unrooted it again.
Since then, doing the Software Update check under settings never returned any results. It would just keep checking until I clicked cancel.
Anyway, when T-Mobile released the 4.3 update Monday morning, I tried updating to it using the Kies software on my PC (by connecting it through the USB cable). It got up to about 60% installation and then just hung for over an hour. So I unplugged the phone, re-plugged it back in, and then attempted the emergency firmware recovery through Kies. It went through this and got upto 76% installation and then just hung again for another hour. I again unplugged it to re-try the emergency recovery again, but every time I connected the phone, Kies would not detect it again. I re-seated the battery, rebooted my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled Kies, but Kies would not detect my phone again.
I am/was running the stock rom, but my phone won't even boot into it's normal screen. Any time I turn it again, i see the screen--"there were errors during firmware upgrade. try emergency recovery in Kies."
I can't even figure out a way to get to a screen where I can install the image I took using Nandroid a few weeks ago.
Any help or advice anyone can provide would be extremely appreciated!
Use Odin to fix it.
If you can put your phone into download mode then it should be 'saveable' ..

I am able to put it into download mode. When I follow the instructions I found for Odin, the process seems to go smoothly. However, once my phone reboots, it stays on the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" screen (with the black background). I've left it like that for over 30 minutes, and it just stays on that screen.
Should there be another step I should be following?

Try installing SuperSU from Playstore
It has an option of doing a FULL UNROOT
I am sure that will help.
If not then install Rom Manager from PS
Through RomManager reboot in Recovery
1.) Wipe device 3x times
2.) Wipe cache 3x times
3.) Under advance you will Find Dalvik Cache -- wipe that 3x times

But more importantly why would you want 4.3 stock anyway?
Install TWRP Recovery or ClockWorkMod recovery and install/Flash CM1 (Cyagonemod) or any other custom roms 4.4.x kitkat
Nothing is really working for me.
I can't boot into normal mode. I am able to get into "download" mode, but whenever I try to load an image using the Odin software (both a stock image and a Cyagonemod image), it starts to load the image, but just hangs a certain percent of the way through.
I also can't get to that screen where it gives you the text based options to wipe your device, cache, etc.
I've tried loading both TWRP recovery and ClockWorkMod recovery (through Odin), and though it seems to load properly (Odin says "Pass"), when the phone reboots, it goes to the "Samsumg Galaxy Note II" screen (the one with white text on a black background), and just stays there.
I've gotten T-Mobile to agree to send me a new phone. But if I can't get into any of the items I mention above, how can I make sure my old device is wiped before sending it back to them?
Just do this un root with chain fire root away app.
Then use triangle away app.
Then find 4.1.2 MB1 stock Odin tar. The complete package .
Odin to stock .
Reboot and then update via Ota.
You have to un root first and also have to triangle away which removes flash counter in Odin.
System modified status will not allow Ota.
That's the best suggestion I have

have you tried booting into recovery? after you load the custom recovery with odin and it reboots, pull the battery put it back, then hold vol up + home and then + power. hold all 3 until recovery. try a factory reset and reboot.

I have. It brings me to the same screen with the Samsung Galaxy Note II text on the black background and just stays there.
So, in summary, I can get into download mode (vol down+home+power), but it seems nothing else.
Try factory settings the phone through stock recovery and then check your phone status. It should say 'normal' but if it says 'modified,' download Triangle away and run the tracking setting (it'll make your phone say normal so you can download the OTA). Given you're on tmobile and your phone is the T889 model, check for software updates and install the OTA. Your phone will take a bit and will probably be stuck on the T-Mobile 4G boot screen for several minutes (it's normal). This should work.
So I decided it would be a good idea to wipe everything including data and internal data etc using my twrp recovery on my tablet 6am in the morning so then I could do a fresh rom instal over adb. I fell asleep in the middle of wiping, woke up at 3pm (15 minutes ago) to find that the battery is dead. Plugged in the charger, tried to boot it up. No matter what I try I cannot get it to boot into anything else other then recovery, which is broken because it just flashes me the twrp logo, goes black then flashes twrp boot logo over and over, I can't even shut it down properly now. I've tried holding differrent button combinations etc and nothing works, i just get the bios logo (samsung logo) then back to the twrp logo loop whenever I try something.
What can I do fix this? I did have the android sdk btw, just realized I switched hard drives and have to download it again, I'm getting it right now.

I would first let the battery fully charge if you haven't already.
Then download a recovery flushable rom, i would pick one of the cm based because it's the smallest and this is to get you back. Load it onto your external sd card and flash as normal.

It's been on charge for 3 hours still trapped in this boot loop, it can do literally nothing else, not turn off or anything lol.
How do I flash any rom? I can't get into recovery, it's just boot looping over and over and not letting me do anything.
The screen is black for 5-8 seconds, then it will flash the twrp logo for a split second and go back to being black and repeat.
Holding the power button (with or without ANY combination of holding down volume buttons) all do the same thing, just reboots it into recovery which starts the above boot loop again.

My tablet is completely unusable now , lol this sucks, I guess I'll keep trying random things lol. I might switch back to philz if i get this fixed lol, ive always had trouble wiping cache with twrp.
Anyone know a way to force it out of a boot loop or a way to reset or flash the recovery or rom while its in the current state it is in?
Lol would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here.

So I went to go try what try mgp53's suggestion. Saw that the tablet had died. Booted it up, and i got stuck the samsung logo accept oddly enough there was nothing in the top corner. adb devices showed me nothing was attached to my computer so I just got mad and powered it back on and off while holding down different combinations of volume buttons, and I got into ODIN MODE! Says download, do not turn off target. Awesome! What do I do from here? I don't know what the state of my tablet is because I tried to wipe everything, including what shouldn't be wiped. So I guess I would have to restore everything including recovery.
Code:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-T320
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0x0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
RP SWAEV: S1, T1, R1, A1, P1
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
VDC START
Downloading...
Do not turn off target !!
What should I do from here? I'm at a loss because I don't want to mess it up more.
EDIT
UPDATE 1
I started by using ODIN 3.09 to flash the latest tar of twrp. Boot is still messed up on all accounts accept for when I hold volume up now, so now I can get into recovery again, awesome! Went through the directories through twrp, all the folders are literally empty lol, including where the super user binaries should be which troubles me a bit. Going to go ahead and flash a rom by sideload and see how it works out.
UPDATE 2
Attempting to sideload now. Getting mount errors for E:, unable to fun partition for path /sdcard, so something wrong with my internal storage. How am I to fix this? lol

You can try samobile, but they make you register. Also I don't know if they don't also use rapidgator.
Or maybe you can try this. Grab the cf autoroot tar. Flash that in odin. Then flash the twrp tar and your recovery should have root access letting you flash custom roms again. Just dl a small one like cm.

Ok cool! :good:
Thanks for all the help, got it fixed and runnings after using Odin for firmware, then to reroot, then Odin to flash philz recovery. Then flashed CM, running brand spanking new.
Oh oh, got the same problem here.
I used the guide from rootjunky on Youtube to install TWRP 2.8.0.1 with flashify but after flashing the tablet wont get into recoveryscreen from TWRP.
So i desided to get back to stock recovery and stock boot image (a made backups before) with the intention to flash TWRP 2.7.0.2 like in the video.
But after flashing the stock recovery the tablet hungs in a loop but i can get into recovery.
can someone explaine me haw to get my stoch recovery back? Or boot image? I don't know exactly wat the problem is, boot or recovery. I'm not to good at this.
And srry for my english, i'm from holland
I am having an issue getting my phone to turn on. I have been running the original Lollipop version, OB7 I believe, rooted via CF-Root, with TWRP recovery installed via Flashify but with the original kernel. I have done no other updates to the phone since then. I have been having some issues with some odd hardware behavior (not recognizing the HD card and the Sim card, not charging correctly, not appearing on the computer when I plug it in), so I decided I wanted to bring my phone back to the Sprint store. Before doing that, I decided to restore stock recovery and unroot the phone before bringing it in so I have no issues with it. So I used flashify to install the stock recovery. However, when I go into recovery mode I can get into recovery, but when I do, I have the "DM-verity verification failed" on the screen as well as recovery options. I read that may be due to still being rooted, so I went into SuperuserSU and unrooted the phone. I then rebooted. The phone when rebooting in the normal mode gets stuck on the Sprint Spark screen. I can get into recovery mode (still getting the DM verity message) and I can still get into download mode, and when I do, I can recognize the phone in Odin. The Kies/Smart Switch program does not recognize the phone. I went into recovery and tried doing a factory reset, and I still get stuck on the Sprint Spark screen. I have heard that after a factory reset you can be stuck on the Sprint Spark for a while, but it has been over 15 minutes. I assume I need some kind of stock ROM (OB7?) to install via Odin? Does that sound right? I'd appreciate suggestions, I am obviously concerned as I cannot get my phone started at the moment.
Yes, if OB7 is your bootloader, power down, boot into download mode and flash the OB7 stock tar, let it auto reboot and go through the setup wizard. Look for the tar in Sprint Note 4 general forum.
If you're not sure what your bootloader is, you could flash CF Auto root and see if it boots and verify the bootloader with Phone Info app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo
Not sure why you're taking the phone to Sprint but usually the factory reset and Odin flash will fix it unless it's hardware failure.

Thanks for the verification. Downloading the Tar now. My phone was definitely on OB7.
here's what happened, the phone started freezing and restarting every 5 mins, I uninstalled some apps thinking that's what's causing it, I used it for around 10 minutes and it was fine, installed the latest security patch update, restarted and everything looked fine.
plugged it in, saw it had restarted again and it was stuck on the Samsung Galaxy A50 secured by Knox screen,
rn: I can't enter recovery mode, (the phone won't shut down and releasing the volume down and holding volume up thing doesn't work)
I can only enter download mode, Connected to Odin, flashed the latest firmware and it passed successfully, but still it gets stuck and won't boot.

You can also try 'adb logcat' to see what the error is if adb is available..

is there anyway to figure out if it's a hardware issue?
cuz I've heard it's a somewhat common problem in the A50 for the hard drive/storage to go corrupt.

I am having a very similar problem to yours, so I will follow this thread. I was using my phone two days ago and it simply turned itself off and since then I am stuck in the logo screen. When the phone is loading I have no indication whatsoever of the battery percentage at all. I still can access option and factory reset and wipe cache (unlike you, apparently - but it does nothing for me). This simply does not help. I end up back at the logo Samsung Galaxy A50 screen. I have downloaded two different firmware... android 9 and 10 from Samsung mobile, and have used Odin to flash it. The process goes through ok and without errors. I get the pass message and the message that the phone is being updated. Then it is time for the logo screen again and form then on the phone simply does not start. I am lost. Can anyone help?

You know... I am not really sure. The only different thing I did was to accept to instal a new firmware one or two days prior. I am inclined to think that was it. Anyway... I tried to flash Android 10... Android 9 (both via Odin) and did not work. The support team instructed me to do the hard reset a couple of times ... and wipe cache and nothing. Today I sent my phone to Samsung assistance since it is still under the guarantee because that is what they thought I should do. I'll keep you posted. Hope you can get yours fixed soon.

yh I installed that update too and this happened later the same night.
unfortunately for me all the shops n services are currently shut down because of the Co-Vid situation so i have to wait for now.
thanks for sharing, lemme know what happens.
I've had these same problems before. When flashing with Odin, don't populate the last slot with anything (the HOME_CSC slot). Flash it to the device without auto reboot on, restart the device manually and hold vol up + down to get to blue scrern, then unlock bootloader. Let it restart, then reflash ROM.
