Can't use another equalizer (rooted) - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've tried using several different equalizers and do not get a response in sound when I mess with the settings. I've tried disabling the default Music FX app and even using Viper4Android. I am using a rooted N5X.

Bluetooth - PowerAMP Vs. Default Player - FIGHT!

So been using PowerAMP for music, which has been great. I only have one issue currently. I have bluetooth headphones connected, manually launch PowerAMP, audio works great, however if I hit "Skip" on the headset the default music player starts to play and PowerAMP pauses. Even if PowerAMP is in the foreground this happens.
In PowerAMP I saw an option to allow you to control with the headset controls, which I have enabled, and saw an option to up the priority of PowerAMPs headset controls so it would override other apps( theoretically anyways ). However it still launches the default music app.
I haven't seen any options in the default music app that allows you to change the bluetooth setting, and I have PowerAMP as the default app for music.
Am I missing anything here? Anyone else have this issue or is it just me? Couldn't find anything Googling around.
+1 for making a reference to a video game from the 90's! I loved Mortal Kombat!
Not that I have any suggestions, but what ROM are you running? I'm currently on Caulkin's E4GT EL29 ROM, using PowerAmp and a bluetooth headset but I'm not having any problems with the default music player...

I was on that same ROM Caulkins, and still had this problem. Last night I flashed Blazer 3.8 and then restored apps and system data with Titanium( System data restoring may have re-caused this issue, not sure, didn't test before the restore ) and I'm -still- having this problem. Annoying as hell, lol.
never had such problem, except once... and at which time I used Titanium Backup to delete the stock music app. problem solved, stock music sucks anyways.
If you dont want to fully delete the file you could always freeze the stock music app.

Same: Rooted; used SystemAppRemover to yank stock music app. Should be universal solve for any ROM. However, yes there are many other apps to remove stock apps

This. I also have poweramp and have not ran into this issue. Now, I did have to remove the stock player from my EVO for the same reason but this situation has never happened on my E4GT currently on this same ROM.
Have you tried to change the defaults? There is a program on the market called Default App Manager that would allow you to change all 'associations' to poweramp.
Note: Back when I had the EVO, I found myself being unable to launch poweramp when I clicked on a music file from a file manager, the phone would display a 'not valid file' error even though I was able to play the file fine using poweramp's library. The only way to fix it was to restore the stock player and then any file that was 'tapped' would launch properly using the stock player.

our problems are sort of similar. i use a wired headset that has inline controls. when i press the play/pause button, it launches dialer... the skip buttons dont work. manual says it works like a champ for iphone (idk, havent tested) i have the same settings on in poweramp. maybe its just poweramp?

[Q] Is there anyway to change the audio to mono audio when using headphones?

iPhone has the option to channel the music to the right or left headphone completely, and I need that on my new M8. Poweramp does it, but I use Spotify for music, and it has no effect.
There are an endless amount of apps on the play store that should be able to do this.
I don't think there is a way that's built in.
If you're unlocked you can install a custom kernel and use Fuax's sound app

Poweramp
Poweramp has this feature. I use it all the time.

Bluetooth issue

I bought 2 portable Bluetooth speakers (different brands) and I keep having an issue where the volume keeps jumping to full volume when the song changes. I was using Google Music and Spotify. I also tried the stock player to play music on the device as well with the same result.
I tried connecting to my home stereo with Bluetooth and it does it as well.
I am running stock lollipop with xposed and that is it.
Anyone have any ideas?

Which Xposed mods are you running.
G3TweaksBix has a mod called "Disable Safety Headset Volume" and also "More Volume Steps"
These might be the cause of your issue.
I would first troubleshoot by removing any mods and go from there. :good:
Will try and let you know

[Q] G4 sound quality

I just came from an s4 to a g4 and the sound quality of my music isn't as good as my previous phone. I use spotify and I noticed lg doesn't have an equalizer built in to the app like samsung does. So now my music sounds flat, and when I use 3rd party equalizers they fail when the app closes or even if I skip a song. So every time I skip a song I have to open the app again which is very annoying. Is there any way around this? Music quality is very important to me and my s4 was fine without any of this hassle.
simply try to install the following apk from the one plus one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/themes-apps/cyanogenmod-audio-fx-t3115358
It should work flawlessly
I tried that and whenever I try to open it says 'unfortunately, audio fx has stopped'. I can't even open it
Instresting, it shouldn't differ from Phone to Phone if its Spotify as its built for android, I use the Built in Music app which has a equalzer setup for their headphones
This is why I can't wait til we get root. I miss Viper4Android

Alternative Sound Processor/Equalizer for Galaxy S6

Recently acquired a Sprint Galaxy S6 (Android 5.1.1). Not too happy with the sound quality I'm getting through headphones using the built in equalizer and Sound Alive. Tried installing a couple of sound apps called Noozxoide and Audio FX Widget. Neither of them will work though with Spotify or music player apps (e.g. Poweramp). I even tried disabling Sound Alive and they still wouldn't work (they will activate, but will not affect sound). Is there any way to get equalizer apps to work on the S6 or am I stuck with Sound Alive?
Thanks.
