Full Review
Blackview BV5000 is a 4G smartphone that is IP67 waterproof, dustproof & shockproof!
A very solid and robust outdoor phone from Blackview. Very hard glass and a very big bumper surrounds the phone. It comes with a decent camera that is enough for an outdoor phone. Sharp and bright display with good response and sensitivity.

Looks like a game phone. What is the battery life?

Have you tested the GPS?

Not a game phone as the CPU is not the fastest for that, it is an outdoor phone. Battery life could be the best I ever have seen, currently running a Geekbench 3 battery test (on screen time) and it has so far run for 11 hours straight and it still has 50% battery left. Will update this with the final results when it is done with the whole test.

To post #1 I have also now added 2 videos (full review) & camera samples.

Is there a root method available for this phone yet? Or a custom recovery?
I've been thinking about getting the BV-5000 for a while now but I can't find much information about it.

Sorry but I haven't seen/found root yet for this phone.

Just got this phone from Everbuying.com and everything is working just fine, but I got absolutely shocked when I saw multiple scratches in the display! It was supposed to survive from nails and knives, but it got scratched in my pocket with car keys and that kind of basic stuff... I didn't put the screen cover on, because hey, it was supposed to deal with extreme conditions!!
Do you people know if I can get a better screen for that somewhere, somehow? There must be somewhere some other kind of screens or are all those videos fake?

Are you sure that the scratches are not just on the factory preinstalled screen protector? It is kind of strange because I don't have any scratches on mine, but did also not put it together with keys etc.

Yep, I'm sure. It had one preinstalled, but I took it off immediately cause I just hate those things. But I guess I now have to put it back on...

I'd also like to see some sort of guide for doing this if you know of any links?
I'm only familiar with TWRP and CWM, I don't know anything about Philz or Carliv recovery.
I bought the phone a few days ago from TomTop. Just waiting on delivery now.

Phone is not rugged at all. I bought 10 and 6 of them are already broken. Situation is the same with most of their dealers (although they don't admit it because the factory changes the screen free of charge if you have bought a lot of phones), even the factory admits everything is advertising.
Rooting can be easily done but the only good thing with that phone is the battery. No compass, no 5GHz WLAN.... you can only use the charging cable that comes with the phone, the usb is longer because of the so called protector.

Has anyone installed a (universal) wireless charger on this phone yet?

hey
i would not recommend this phone at all. im after buying 2 of them and the screens did not even last a week before breaking. the screen protrudes too much so it can be easily broken. the worse thing is that it is impossible to find a decent cover for it so it will just keep happening

Hello,
I need some help !
I flash my BV5000 with flashtool with stock ROM, all was fine, but now, it doesn't start, black screen... Even if I plug it with USB cable !
My BV5000 is dead ???
Any solution please ?
Enjoy !

Sure it is. There're two versions of iRoot, a PC (Windows) version and apk version
Is there an easier way to unlock bootloader
Sent from my MP-G7 using XDA Free mobile app
I used the iRoot for Windows app successfully after trying the kingroot apk and the iroot apk.
The install triggered a malware alert and the install was initially blocked. I took a chance and turned off HIPS to get it rooted.
I uninstalled iRoot after rooting and a quick scan revealed no malware infections. :good:

Elephone G7, 5.5" IPS HD, MTK6592M Octa Core, Metalframe design

Hi I just got my hands on the Elephone G7 in white/silver from Geekbuying which is quite beautiful. The specs are not the highest (good for the price) but the design is very nice. It comes with the MTK6592M Octa-core clocked at 1.4GHz, 5.5 inch IPS HD and 1GB RAM + 8GB ROM which should be enough for most daily tasks.
First impressions
My first impressions are "wow, very nice device", good slim design and solid quality. The white/silver version reminds a little bit of an iPhone, but of course with completely different design. The frame is made of real metal, and feels cold in the beginning, but gives it a premium feel in the hand.
The display is very big, pretty thin bezels, good sharp picture with vivid colours. But because it is 5.5 inch, is may not be for everyone's taste. But for users who like a big screen it is super. What do you think about it?

http://plus.google.com/photos/+s7yler/albums/6104506273704586593
The flash does work better on the G7 than on for example the P3000S.
And it scores about: 28.500 in Antutu v.5.6 - an okay score for the MT6592M I would say.

http://browser.primatelabs.com/battery3/15580
We must remember that this phone is really thin also, so not the biggest battery, but it is fine for one whole day.
I put my phone to the charger every night when I go to bed, so it's no problem.
I've put in an order for the black version of this phone after seeing your video. I don't play games on my phones so the specs should be fine for me. Are these phones really limited to 32GB micro sd cards? What happens if you stick a 64GB card in there?

I have just tested a Sandisk microSDXC UHS-I 64GB card, it works in the phone. The phone will the first time just ask you to format it. After that it will be formated to FAT32, and it will be found by the phone with the full space.

3D games actually run fine on a 6592M Octa core even with 1GB. So not really a problem.
The phone arrived today. It's the biggest phone I've ever owned but it's so damn thin and light! Only negative thing is a bit of light bleed noticable on the bottom when using black wallpaper but it's not a showstopper.
Thank you for opening the thread.I have now received my G7 and there are many differences with my Nexus 5.But I'm happy overall.
I'll wait a few days to root.

Phone problem
Hi!
According to the topic. if you can, please help me with this phone.... It arrived yesterday, and I cannot use it:
My problem is the next: I put my micro sim card into the phone. The phone recognize my sim card, ask for my pin code. After the successfully pin code, i am able to reach the normal android menu. But when I try to make a phone call, NOTHING happens. The calling screen is on, I can give the numbers for calling. After I initiate the call, nothing happens, just only the phone thinking, but it cannot make any calls. I realised, that the phone recognize the sim card (I see it on the sim menu), but the phone cannot join my provider's (Vodafone) network. After 1 minute, I see the 3G or G sign on the top of the phone, but when I try to make a call, nothing happens again. Very frustrating. Inside the phone menu, there is an option, that you can choose the network provider manually or automatically. I tried both two version, all the time the phone said: unable to join network. I think this can be a hardware problem. Or can it be software? I had a lot phone before, and i have never ever met such a problem. There is not any scratch or injury on the phone, it is definetively brand new. I tried with other sim cards, but the same result happened. I tried both sim slot (micro and normal slot as well), but the same problem occur. Is is possible, thet this is a software problem?

That depends on the provider, in USA the providers don't all use the same network bands. That vary from provider to provider making it very hard to answer that question. The THL 2015 supports 2100/1800/2600/800 MHz on 4G/LTE. Better ask your provider if they support these bands or not.
Good, I am buyer of a phone, it thl 2015 or this jiayu s3, ...
can tell me how is this phone .. it has can put some thoughts on it, bugs ... costum roms, ... and lollipop, update .... thanks
Interesting.
I'm going to be in Europe for part of this summer and while I was leaning towards the Elephone P7000, I was concerned that it would not be available in time. I have settled with this phone, and it should be in my possession shortly. I'm somewhat disappointed it ships with Android 4.4, but I'm hopeful it will receive Lollipop soon.
Does anyone know how heavily skinned this phone is? I'm wondering how close we are to AOSP.
Got one this morning after pre-release ordering at coolicool, with DHL +£15 tax to the UK, seems good so far, expect they'll give us 5.1 from 4.4.4 soon, noticed quite a lot of their stuff here http://www.needrom.com/category/thl/thl-2015 think I'll use Nova launcher for now, just under 41,000 in Antutu, keep us posted if they can be rooted if it's later required.

It can be rooted by VRoot_1.8.2.13135.
I already done that at the weekend.
I tried to create custom recovery by autocreate TWRP with no success.
Gravity box also not compatible with the latest xposed framework yet
Is this any use? http://playfuldroid.com/how-to-root-thl-2015-in-less-than-an-hour
Would there be any version of CyanogenMod available to us if it does start working rooted?

Just root it with iRoot in 20 seconds, after that replace the chinese SuperSU with the normal SuperSU from the Play Store.
See in this video here how to root KitKat, from time 4:44 in the video (must be seen on a PC, not mobile device)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1WGNan1p88
There will only be CyanogenMod if someone makes it for the phone, so far I haven't heard or seen any working on a port for the phone.
Put Bounty On Device?
Does anyone know of any websites that I can use to place a "bounty" on a device? I'd like a 5.0 ROM, and I'd be willing to put money into a pot that is awarded to the first person to complete this task. Does XDA support this?
wifi
Hi,
Thl2015 can "ac" wi-fi?

Check post #1 I already show it in the full Review Video there, under LCD test/backbleeding test! The phone has no AMOLED. That is wrong info by some webshops.
Hi

Compass and Gyroscope
Hi guys, what about compass and gyroscope? Is Google Skymaps working properly. Thank you!
hello! whether on this phone to upgrade to Android 5.0?
No Android 5 update from the manufacturers yet, have had one OTA update from THL but not sure what it did. Does anyone know why some apps find this phone as rooted even without rooting it? I'm trying to get SkyGo to work (they are strict for DRM tv viewing) and also Trustable by Bluebox lists it as rooted out of the box - with some issues that THL should probably be working on too. Is there any way using it rooted to remove all the files that makes these apps think it is rooted then use the unroot option so aps like SkyGo would then work?
Also noticed Recovery TWRP over on needrom if this is any better than iRoot method?

Available for $140 at geekbuying.com including shipping.
I have ordered one for my dad.
Phone looks great, let's hope it's as strong as the company says. Had a UMi Zero for quite a while which I loved.
At Chinese-smartphones.com they selected it as the 'best value for money' phone of April. What do you guys think? True or not?

Well that's convincing. The phone can handle something but he was able to break it whitout trying real hard still, a lot harder to break than an iphone or a Samsung
Great device, How about battery life and screen on time?
Any coupon for this UMI hammer? i saw 1949deal provides $3 coupon, coupon code: 1949deal0808. $126.99 is the cheapest price. I saw the drop test review on Giz, Really unbelievable, it has been dropped for more than three times. It still work, no smashing on the screen. UMI Hammer is so strong and tough.

Custom Recovery
Hi All,
Here is my ported TWRP Play Edition plus the STOCK recovery as you may need it for UMi OTA's.
Download Here
Flash with UMI's Rootjoy, Flashify from the Play Store, or Fastboot if you know how to use it
More Recovery's to follow when I get the Time
Enjoy.
Switch sdcard
About recovery, is a great work! Easy install and nice looking.
About sdcard like primary memory, the problem is that the external sdcard become sdcard2 and at the sdcard is the internal memory.
Any one know how to switch sdcrd2 to become sdcard?
I remember in the zopo 500+ was available a package to flash from the recory.

I assume you are referring to the ROM and not the recovery
To set external SD as Primary or "Default Write Disk" go to /Settings/storage/ and choose phone storage = internal_SD or SD card = External_SD
Just incase you are talking about the recovery
Go to /Backup/ tap on "Storage" and choose Micro-SD

Meiigoo S8 6.1'' 18:9 full display dual-sided 3D | 4+64GB | 13+5MP Dual | Android 7.1

The Meiigoo S8 has now been announced and along with that introduction comes confirmation of the full specs on offer with this smartphone. What is likely to be one of the main points to note is that this is a device that follows in the footsteps of a number of high profile 2017 smartphones by utilizing an 18:9 aspect ratio. The inclusion of this edge-to-edge design allows the Meiigoo S8 to make use of a smaller physical footprint compared to what would be encountered with a device adopting a more traditional bezel level. As a result, the Meiigoo S8 features a larger than usual 6.1-inch display, but within the body of a smartphone more often associated with a smaller display. A design aspect which not only looks to add a premium touch to this smartphone, but one which is also designed to offer a more comfortable holding experience.

The highlight features of the S8 are that it sports a 6.1-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio which takes up 83% of the whole front panel and coated in dual-sided 3D curved glass. Spec wise, the S8 is equipped with a powerful MTK6750T octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 4GB RAM, 64GB of storage, expandable up to 256GB, dual rear cameras (13.0MP + 5.0MP combo), rear fingerprint scanner, 5.0MP front-facing shooter, USB TYPE-C, 3300mAh battery and Android 7.1 Nougat as the OS.
Stay Tuned for New updates and Review.
I'm not seing much Meiigoo on XDA and wonder if this phone will get rooted. It would be nice to have a "utility phone" to play with. Assume it will be pretty bare bones Nougat (but at least 7.1)
I doubt XDA will have any development, i just got the phone yesterday and an testing it out.
Can't compare it to other phones, since I don't have any, but mine is behaving surprisingly well. It's my secondary phone, so obviously it's not under a lot of stress, but I can honestly say I notice no bugs or problems some YouTubers are having. In fact I am quite happy with it. I only wish the camera was better, but for such a low price the phone is a steal. I'd love to see some cusom ROMs developed for it.
Who knows how to upgrade from Android 7.0 to Android 7.1? In menu: "settings -> about phone -> phone status -> Wireless update" it says that my device's software is up to date...
The photo of Meiigoo S8 in first post is not realistic. The display is not borderless. In attach the real one.

How?
Download this tool …

it is for Huawei phones but works with all phones i tested even not Huawei.
Install it and turn USB Debugging on, on your phone.
Then go to modifications klick Show and then you can see all installed apps.
Delete the ones you do not Need. If you delete the launcher, you must install another one before, otherwise you Need to factory reset your phone.

I did it here with the meigoo S8 without any Problems. I tried it at home and there it doesn´t work ! Must be some Kind of Driver or missing .dll files or so.
Try another PC and look if this works then.
