Possible to change Nav Bar height on stock rooted ROM? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've realized that my only real need to run a custom ROM is so that I can decrease the Nav Bar height and run a custom kernel. However, now that systemless root is available, I'd like to stay on the stock ROM with systemless root and Elemental X kernel. Which will also allow me to use Android Pay.
However, with this setup the only thing I'd be missing is the ability to make the Nav Bar smaller. So I'm curious if it's possible to do this somewhere in the build.prop like you can with LCD density?

@sn0warmy, are you running mmb29k? If so, try flashing this.
1. Down from 48.0dip to 36.0dip
2. Down to 28.0dip

Woah, interesting!
I'm on Pure Nexus right now but I'll flash the factory mmb29k image today and give that a shot. Thanks!

[Q] Best ROM

Hi,
So I'm pretty new to One X & I just got my oneX S-off & root, but I'm really confused which of all these roms are the best & most stable, if some of u guys can help me choose one it would be really nice.
Is there any CM9 plus sense with stock camera, beats audio & stuff there? (I couldn't find one)

yes their is a rom with stock camera (sense) and beats audio. jdroid exodized rom.
and their is renovate rom also. u can find these on development page
both roms have cm9 theme with the good sense stuff
Many will say try and choose yourself and that's what I did. But I am tired of all.
According to me best Rom is charmeleon with good battery and tweaks.

no it is not. unlocking the bootloader gives you the option to flash custom roms. to have S-OFF it will give you the option and freedom to flash kernels through recovery(which means no stupid fastboot no more) and radios. Currently the only think you can flash is roms. Kernel is through fastboot which stinks but we can live with it
S-OFF – What And Why?
HTC have installed a sort of security check whose level is determined by S-OFF/S-ON. Essentially, this security level is a flag stored on the device’s radio that checks signature images for any firmware before it is allowed to be written to system memory. This hinders using any custom ROMs, splash images, recovery etc., and also restricts access to the NAND flash memory. However, when security level is set to S-OFF, the signature check is bypassed, allowing a user to upload custom firmware images, unsigned boot, recovery, splash and HBOOT images, as well as official firmware that has been modified, this enabling maximum customization of your HTC Android device.
Furthermore, S-OFF also reduces restrictions on accessing the NAND flash memory on the device, allowing all partitions (including /system) to be mounted in write mode while the operating system is booted.

think I'm going for jdroid exodized, I'm gonna miss sense a little bit
& one more thing, if u noticed there's nice transparent theme on status bar in sence which is not there anywhere else, is there anyway I can apply the same thing myself in any other ROM? I hate the same usual boring android status bar color

Yassou.
There are a few roms with the transparent status bar, one of them is this one here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625816 and it has by far the most tweaks of any rom. Enjoy

does this rom overclock? I mean like overclocking by itself
because I have good experience on that & I don't want the rom to overclock the cpu by itself, it harms the cpu in long term use

[Q] Getting AOSP Lockscreen

I've almost got everything perfect on my new Note 10.1 but I wanted to use the AOSP lockscreen instead of the stock one. Mainly because Xposed modules modify AOSP instead of Sammy's lockscreen. Anyone know how to do that on this device. I'm using clean ROM and I'm not exactly expecting a lot of development for this device so waiting for a ROM that does this out of the box just wasn't something I'd want to do. I'm OK with modifying files myself since that's probably what I'd have to do. I'm just not sure where to start.

Have you tried this xposed module? It's for the note but you can test if you want:

Or the app Holo Locker:

No, its not available on Oxygen OS. You shod get it kn Nougat though
It's not an integrated feature, but you still can manually (or with an app) modify the build.prop file to change it. And that works in pretty much any ROM out there.

Not sure if you are rooted if so this is an easy answer
If you are not rooted its also an easy answer and no need to start a thread simply google it "how to change dpi on android" or "how to change dpi on Oxygen OS"
The instructions will pop up and voila.... i use it all the time on my non rooted phones that I am unhappy with the dpi..... You're welcome

replace system ui of stock rom with custom rom ui.

Hi,
This is a question as well as a suggestion
We p2 users have been bugged with issues or missing features in all custom roms which are not present in stock firmware.
Now my question/suggestion is can we not take the stock firmware with all features enabled and remove all unnecessary apps then replace the entire stock ui with that of custom ROM like resurrection remix or xenon hd or what ever we want?!
Id you find a workaround let us know. I don't have any idea if we can

Even I am wondering about the same thing
I think I can swap the framework.apk and related files and then may need to edit some of the dependencies to apply the changes. Of course this has to be done in the ROM zip file.
Uh I don't see the point actually you're basically referring to a deodexed, debloated ROM with a nova launcher.
Sorry if I got your question wrong. This is what I was able to make up from it.

You are partially correct. But the problem lies in customisation. You see, I am a big fan of extreme customisation. I want to customise the rom entirely. For that, we need either a completely integrated theme engine like miuu or substratum. As you might know, substratum has issues in stock vibe hi.
And xposed is not working for n. Now you tell me what else to do for this.!!!

Custom ROM on stock kernel benefits?

Hey guys just as the title says what's the true benefits (if any that's actually worth it) of flashing custom kernels on stock roms? I'm currently running latest du-flash kernel-official magisk. Now I've been thinking for a short while as to why should i even run custom ROMs on my pixel? Google has implemented enough that don't require custom ROMs on my part at least. The pixel is already running my favorite stock Android. Most features found in custom ROMs can be used on stock via root. Like i just don't see the point of going above and beyond to flash custom ROMs anymore especially how it's more difficult and time consuming then it used to be lol. Even using stock with stock kernel battery life was amazing. Then i used stock with flash kernel battery life was pretty much the same. So please can anyone let me know the true benefits of running custom kernels on stock rom. I'm going back to stock and staying there but just wanna know should i include custom kernels if beneficial. Thanks.

For me, I like the custom kernels because...
1. I like having color Control.
2. Gesture Control.
3. I/O scheduler Control.
4. Wake lock Control.
5. Kernel backup Control .
6. Memory Control.
7. Read ahead Control.
8. And it fixes the quirky twrp touch response bug.
9. But mostly....I just like Control :good:

Thanks guys and Badger i knew you would come correct! Good man. The thing is all those controls i never touch except color control (don't make a difference since I'm color blind lol) and gesture control. Ok guess I'll be using flash kernel on stock builds then. I'm still trying to justify root. The only things i use it for its adaway, Viper and dolby, es for Explorer, titanium backup (mainly for backups and moving user apps to system), and substratum but honestly I'm getting sick of substratum because every other day i gotta keep updating the overlays which can be a pain. Or when i go to open up a app and i just so happen to be infront of an apple user the app would crash resulting in me having to quickly go and disable that particular overlay until i get a chance to update lol. But i love flux theme so gorgeous.
